I'm not sure if buying an iMac would be worth it, and if so, 20 inch or 17?
Hello all. I'm a new user. A friend of mine has a 17 inch Imac that be purchased before the Intel's came out.
Now I am a pretty large PC user, but whenever I go over to his house, and use his mac, it just feels so user friendly and great, that it makes me want to purchase one.
One of the main reasons I want to buy a Mac is the fact that I am big into audio recording. I see all the studios and serious audio recorders use macs. This enticed my want for one as well.
Secondly, I am looking into to getting into video editing. My friend with the iMac uses final cut pro, and I have used it on his and it's great.
I do a fair bit of gaming on my current PC, which my brother built. Unfortunately he's taking it to college at the end of the summer.
So I think to myself, I could contiune playing elder scrolls IV on a mac, and have great audio and video capabilties.
So as I browse this forum, I don't have that big of a budget. $1300 was a push for me to buy the lowest possible imac. However I read something about the 17 incher sucking at gaming because of the weak GPU.
I don't know if its worth it to look at the 20 inch model, or just stick with the 17 inch one and hope it holds.
I want to make the jump from PC to Mac, but my entire family are big PC people, and i just don't know. Can someone recommend me a mac, and reassure that I seem to be making the right move?
Thanks, if you read all that.
Given your budget, have you considered a secondhand G4 tower? You'd have the upgrade potential that the iMac's design doesn't permit. Then you could run dual internal hard drives, select your graphics card, and have PCI slots for any expansion cards your audio and/or video projects might require. The iMacs are great right out of the box, but if you're someone who'd like the flexibility to customize your computer for specific needs, I'd consider something like the 2002 G4 MDD model. Why not post your question in the G4 Expansion Forum, and see what advice/suggestions you receive from other G4 owners? Of course, you'd need to get a display, but then again, there are plenty of CRT or LCD models to choose from. If you've got a decent display for a PC, you can use it with the Mac.

I had my iphone 3gs for exactly a year and it worked fine. I upgraded to ios 5, and now the phone gets into a state where it won't charge even when plugged into the wall. I do some different operations and then it works for a few days.
I went to the genius store twice. Once they thought it was just a software issue with ios5 and different charging mechanisms. So, I went home happy thinking it was fixed. It happened again.
I went back yesterday and the genius bar says there is water damage and it is affecting the battery. I did see the red water damage line but I'm not sure I buy it. I was working fine before ios5. It seems a bit coincidental to me.
Have any of you seen this problem before? Is it truly the water damage that is the problem perhaps excacerbated by the ios5 increased battery depletion bugs? Or could it indeed be some sort of software issue?
In addition, what options do I have now? There are still battery issues with iOS 5 and another update is forthcoming. In the meantime do you have an Exchange mail account on your iPhone?
Your charging problem is almost certainly related to the water damage on your iPhone. You can do an out-of-warranty replacement for $149. -
hello
i bought my first mac and i want to become an iOS developer and creat app for iPhone iPad but now i have only iPad 4 and i want to buy iPhone 5s but I'm not sure to buy iphone5s now or wait for iPhone 6 because iphone6 may have bigger screen if i buy iphone5s now can i creat app for iPhone 6 if it has bigger display without buying it just test it on iPhone 5s
thanksOne of my favorite things about developing for iOS using Xcode is the Simulator. It runs any of the iOS devices simulated right on your Mac. If you don't have a hardware device to test your application on, the Xcode simulator will surely be your best friend.
So to answer your question less vaguely, yes. You can own the iPhone 5s and develop for the 6. There is no real release information of the iPhone 6 at the time anyways, so I would not let it play too large of a factor in your decision. -
i'm on a prepaid plan for the 4s, i want the hotspot option which isn't offered on the prepaid plan. heard the connection is too slow on the 4s only worth it on the 5 or 5s. would you agree? not sure how much the hotspot would increase my monthly bill....
To use the hotspot for any of those devices, I believe you have to switch to a postpaid account and plan. You can see the pricing for the available postpaid plans under the "Shop" area of the website.

for some reason i have more than one apple id, not sure how, must have set one up ages ago and forgot about it. can i delete one, or merge them? how do i know im not going to lose info if i delete one account?
You can neither merge or delete them. Pick one and stop using the other. If they both have purchases associated with them you will have to keep using both.

It started when Apple updated Safari
I've tried different browsers -same thing so I am thinking it's the computer. -
I purchased this because I could scan a document and be able to fill out anything with my computer instead of writing everything in. It would not allow me to do this, stating the program I purchased was not capable. I would like a refund and cancel my annual subscription.
Thank youDear Sara,
I feel you are selling a product that does not work. Seeing all the msgs stating this, I feel you should pull the product. I got taken - you should refund - knowing you have a product that is defective. I learned - word of mouth is the best advertising you will get and I will post on my Facebook - do not buy from Adobe!
Not mad just disappointed in the product and customer service.
Thanks -
An ip address keeps showing up in the proxy setting under the "Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains." I keep erasing them and they pop back in.

See this from Apple's Online Store. I suggest you do some research before you make any product purchasing decision. It's apparent that you haven't visited the Online Store site or a local Apple Store.

I hate this song that is on my phone and I did not mean to purchase it. How can I be refunded or erase this horrible artist ?
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Apple's policy on sales of digital content is that all sales are final. If however you wish to appeal to Apple, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History on your computer.
You can delete songs from your iTunes library on your mobile device by swiping them and then tapping the delete button that appears. -
I tried to download google earth and also Microsoft fix it and got the following error message:

No way for us to know for sure (without similar product/issues) but the
HP Support site suggests that with the current Mavericks OS X 10.9.x
their drivers should be available through Apple Software Updates:
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Mac-Printing-and-Scanning/HP-Product-Support-using- Apple-Software-Updates-for-new-OS-X/td-p/3086229
However that may be limited to certain models of printers or scanners that
already had been known to be working under OS X as of that date in a
prior OS X (such as 10.8.5, 10.7.5, 10.6.8, etc) with earlier product support.
•Drivers and Downloads for Printers, Scanners, & More - HP Support:
http://www8.hp.com/us/en/drivers.html
A link to Mac OS X Support's List Printer & Scanner software (HP+ Other)
•OS X: Printer and scanner software available for download
HP Officejet t65 All-in-One Printer
{According to this page, your old printer has only Windows & Linux drivers
but you may or may not look into third-party driver support through such
sites as Gimp; though unlikely to be available with Mavericks, or Yosemite}
•HP Support Forum - Home:
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/psg/?lang=en&cc=us
You may be able to get a deal on a new printer as they are rapidly obsoleted.
PS: edit to add... there was a Gutenprint driver reference for T65 Printer here:
Mac OS X 10.5: Included printer drivers
Yet a driver for ancient Leopard 10.5.x may not be suitable for Mavericks 10.9.x
but the Gutenprint lead may be helpful to locate whatever may exist; or not.

Good luck & happy computing!

My iPhone is downloading an odd email here and there that doesn't appear on my iMac mail at work.Just read an email on my iPhone that I received at 6.00 this morning.checked my iPhone settings for mail, delete after download is off so not sure whats wrong.Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Can you do setup an unread mail folder that shows all unread mail regardless of what folder it really is in on the iPhone mail program somehow?
No.
If not, can this be submitted as an enhancement as it makes email use very cumbersome.
Yes. You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html. -
