I'm ready to throw my macbook pro out the window

Hey everyone, i'm a sorta-newbie i've owned apple products (ipods and iphones for years, but this is my first computer from mac, and my first personal computer other than my parents')
So i recently bought my very first mac...the mbp 5.3 all nice and pretty with ilife 09 and what not. So since i've deployed, i figured i'd start to actually use some of these programs...namely, iweb...with the intentions of learning more and more about it and pulling in other apps. Well i actually have several questions, but i'll ask them in the order in which i usually encounter them. The first being, that whenever i close and then reopen (or "publish", i'll talk about that one a little more, later)...the pictures i was so clearly told i could simply drag into place from the media bar always move and cover chunks of texts...it gets extremely annoying to have to readjust the photos every time i open iweb. Is there any way to keep one's photos from moving.
Secondly, after manually readjusting the pics, i then try to publish the site...the first time i did it, i was told there was an error publishing the site, but i was able to visit my page. Although i wish i didn't because, just as when i open iweb, there the pictures were covering large amounts of texts. So i go back to iweb and look at the site, everything is in place. I click save and try uploading it again and for some reason the text all disappears from only the actual blog (welcome page and all is ok)...then try uploading again, but the option is greyed out along with visit site.
I'd greatly appreciate any help you all have, i'm new to macs and not extremely computer literate so if you could break things down for me, i'd appreciate it...
oh, a few things that may help...i upgraded my me account so space shouldn't be an issue...and i'm not sure if anyone can visit the page but my site's name is rcbray...and its uploaded through iweb (no outside sources)...
thank you all for your help...i just wish i had run a test on this earlier, my plans were to have the site up an hour ago...

ugh...i'll be sure to let you know...i'm beginning to regret buyin a mac now...one usually spends the bucks most of have dropped for a premium machine, to actually work. I don't expect every aspect to be perfect, but simple things such as functionality of applications developed for and by the same company making the machines should work...maybe its just because i'm more than a little peeved that i'm going through such trouble to do something as simple as put two pictures next to each other and upload the site (as it appears in iweb) on to the mobileme...
I finally got it to upload, thanks Old Toad, and i got the pictures to upload...now they just don't appear next to each other as they do in iweb...i guess the good thing is that they are no longer covering text...
now i'm presented with a second problem...i add a second entry to my blog and when i click on that directly i'm taken to a page saying it is not found...but when i go to the first entry and click next it takes me to the second entry page...although that page is ALMOST correct (the links do not have the same styling i applied to them in iweb)...
and now i'm presented with a third problem...after adding the second entry i noticed on the blog listing page that my photo from the first entry did not move with it (another photo covering text problem)...so i tried using the graphic placeholder, but the image still does not show up on the main page...

  • I'm really so frustrated with videos lagging, I'm about to throw my Macbook Pro out the window. It's really becoming that bad. I've reinstalled Flash, I've tried emptying the trash in safe mode, everything. And my connection on the internet video blows.

It's worse than dialup, videos constantly freeze up and lagg for minutes. It takes me nearly a half hour to see a 4-minute video. I've heard that it can also be a quicktime addon that I can see, but cannot delete. Sorry, but I'm so ******* frustrated. I don't have a lot of money and when I bought this, I just wanted it to run right. It's been a tough year on me and this hasn't helped.

  • My Macbook Pro makes the Windows Critical Error sound randomly.

So recently my MacBook Pro 17" Late 2011 has been making the Windows critical error sound just out of the blue. It even happens when the sound is off or the lid is closed. I do not have a windows program open but i do have VMWare and Windows installed on it but it happens even with the program closed down. Has anyone ever heard of this happening?

  • Help before i throw my apple products out the window I cant download i tunes on my laptop

I get a error message after is says successful download it says apple application support not found windows error 2
also need some help with syncing my I pad music to my old computers i tunes. when I try to sync it wants to delete the music on my ipad.

I'm getting the same problem. Probably since 10.4.10 but I can't be sure. I am have just been perplexed at why my other machines are working OK and my iMac G4 17" 1Ghz is having network problems. It has the original Aiport Extreme Card inside. I was Googling and saw a suggestion to delete all your "Network Locations" then start fresh. I've just tried that and I'm running a ping for a while to see how its performing. I think its improved but the signal read only 2 bars still when my MacBook Pro right next to it read 100%.
    Somebody must know something?

  • STILL can't get Videos into 5G iPod , Ready to throw it out the window

I'm ready to throw this iPod out the window , I spent all day yesterday over 10 hours , trying to get videos onto my iPod , my iPod software and iTunes are up tp date , first I just drag and dropped them as MPEG no luck iTunes recognized and played them but wouldn't let me drag and drop them to the iPod then I used iSquint , it converted them to MPEG 4 , they transferd into iTunes and played but not the iPod I got an error that they weren't transferable and not recognized by the iPod .
I called Appe this morning and they were no help since I didn't get the Vid's from the appple store and since you only get one free service call ,and wouldn't tell me the format for the videos I didn't want to waste it . They suggested I buy Quicktime Pro .
Then I tried , Movies For My iPod . I used the transfer for iPod option , it converted them to .mp4.m4v . I drag and dropped them directly to the iPod no luck , they're there but wont play or show up in the iPod then I opened up iTunes and drag and droppped them into iTunes again played in iTunes not transfered to the iPod although it said it was updating .
Then ,I tried the custom settings file format MP4 , video format , MPEG-4 Improved , Image Size 320 X 240 QVGA , again I tried to drag and drop them onto the iPod still not there , now I tried to drag and drop unto iTunes , again they're there and play but won't show up on the iPod . I've pretty much had it .
In the Movies For MY iPod they're are some custom settings . File Format MP4(ISMA) In the Video there is an MPEG-4 Improved setting with a bit rate of 256 kbits/sec Image size 320x 240 QVGA frame rate 30 plus alot of other settings which I have no idea what they are .
Today I have 6 hours of frustration into this still no luck . I'm really disappointed with Apple ,I started out with the first iMac a Bondi Blue and have been working my way up , I have an iBook , an iMac Graphite , a G4 iMac a 15G 3G iPod now the 5G iPod . Apple should have included Quick Time pro in the G5 , and only one support call, come on , even Dell gives you a year of support .
And to top it all off the Black is beautiful but scratches easily , I'm a chef , my nails very short and allready it's scratched to bits by the wheel, I keep it in a case when I'm playing it , you can hardly touch it . I'm not very happy with Apple and this iPod , they rushed it out for the holiday , so if your in the jacksonville Florida area look for a flying iPod .

Lets run down a list of possibilities:
    1) You are using iTunes 6 here, correct?
    2) You did not say whether or not you are running in auto-sync, manual management, or "Enable Disk" mode. If you left it in the default mode as installed (auto-sync), then after dropping your movies into iTunes (or adding them to the Library), simply connect your iPod and allow it to auto-sync (mirror) the current contents of iTunes. (You can also try "Update iPod" option under the File menu, but I have found it unreliable -- possibly owing to "sleeping" iPod.)
    3) Not sure if your reference to "dropping the movie on the iPod" is a reference to the iPod desk icon in manua/disk enabled mode or the iPod "Source" reference/associaed contents list in iTunes. Could you clarify where you are attempting to "drag 'n drop" and/or the selected sync mode of operation in your iPod Preferences.
    4) As to conversion to iPod compatible formats, recommend you stick with MoviesForMyPod and/or iSquint if you are restricted to QT Pro 6 and not sure what settings to use for MPEG4 preset collection/QuickTime Movie full manual mode.

  • I have an older macbook pro and the hard drive is starting to go (making loud noises). i tried to back up to an external hard drive (my passport essential se) using time machine and the computer keeps shutting down. suggestions to complete backup please?

I have an older macbook pro and the hard drive is starting to go (making loud noises). i tried to back up to an external hard drive (my passport essential se) using time machine and the computer keeps shutting down. the same thing happens when just trying to save my pictures from iphoto to a flash drive. suggestions to complete backup please?

Sounds like you'll need to access that drive while it is not booted. You need to replace it anyway, so do that, then one way or another (ext enclusure, et), access it and copy files.
If you keep trying to boot it, you might kill it for good and not get your files, so just swap it out first.

  • How do I get internet on both my Mac Pro and my macbook pro at the same time?

Both are running 10.6.8 operating systems.
There is one ethernet jack in my office. The mac pro does not have a wireless card.
I want to use internet on my macbook pro from the mac pro. I'm thinking internet sharing through ethernet cord (ethernet cord from wall to mac pro, then second ethernet cord from mac pro to macbook pro), or via firewire. Both methods tell me on my macbook pro that I am connected to the internet but when I try to use the internet it fails.
Is this an ip address problem? how do I change that?
suggestions? maybe there is a better way to do this?
    Thanks!!

    Get a router.
A Apple Airport Extreme router is easy to setup and has extra ports on the back for Ethernet to the MacPro.
This way you'll have Wifi and can take the MacBook Pro anyplace in range and use it, instead of burning up that Firewire port and being on a leash.
You could be having IPv6 issues with the MacBookPro if it's on a later version of OS X.
Look under your network > Advanced TCIP and turn off IPv6, reboot.

  • Is there a reason that Skype quit workin on my macbook pro in the last week?  Microsoft went their messenger to it, so is there something there?

I have a macbook pro, in the last week, i have lost the use of skype. is there a reason? has it something to do with Microsoft setting their msn up there?

Well, running on a 2006 model.  I did not have a startup disc.  Initially, it booted up on original software in 2006.  Since then, I've upgraded to 10.6 via a box set.  And, since then I think I popped it up to lion.
All I have on a disc is snow leopard.  And, I can't get farther than the setup screen due to hard drive.  I'm taking to a apple authorized repair store right now.  We'll see what they tell me .  I'm just going to weigh the cost of repair vs. buying new.
Another bad, stupid thing is I had no means of backing up my stuff.  So, I might have lost things like music, vids, etc.  we'll see if they can recover.  If the cost is too much for repair I might just forget it and start over with a new system.  Just not sure at this point.

  • I dropped my macbook pro and the screen is broken can i still use it with an external monitor? Or can I or how do I transfer hard drive files to my mac mini?

I dropped my 17" macbook pro and the screen is broken. Can I still use it with an external monitor? When I plugged it into a monitor I had used it with before, I'm not able to see anything on the macbook screen to control it. It came on but I just got the blue screen with nothing else after typing in my password. (Didn't see the password form just assumed it was there somewhere and it did go from space to blue screen but no desktop icons, files, dock strip at top or anything else, just blank blue screen) so I can't access the system preferences.
Or can I / or how do I, transfer hard drive files to my mac mini? If not salvageable as is can I pull out the hard drive and make it an external harddrive? In otherwords is anything salvageable? It seems it's coming on I just can't access anything. BTW I was told it would cost aprox $1000 to replace the screen! I paid almost $4000 for this thing and it was running great - makes me sick to lose it!

I'd like to promise you that everything will be fine if you just get the monitor going - but it's hard to know what the hardware damage might be. It might be the monitor, or the damage might be greater.
Your best solution would be visit your local Apple Store and let them know what your situation is. They have access to diagnostics you don't, and they might be able to the best way to save your data and keep you computing. It's still not covered, but they can tell you what your current options are.
Um, you might consider investing in a backup drive.
And there other repair options, too. Powerbook Medic http://www.powerbookmedic.com/xcart1/pages.php?pageid=67 offers reliable repairs, and quotes prices well under Apple's.

  • I partitioned my MacBook Pro and installed Windows 8 in it.....now I can't find my partition when I pressed option key when booting up.....so how can I do to find the partition to boot...I can see it in the disk manager in Mac....any ideas? thanks..!..

    Hi LamboMong,
    just try this:
    http://refit.sourceforge.net
install, reboot twice and choose the Windows-Partition on next startup.
(The apple-bootloader doesn't display all bootable harddisks.
With rEFIt you can boot from all partitions/harddisks on your computer.)
I hope that will solve your problem.
