I'm running 10.5.8, just upgraded to iPhone 5s, can't use itunes. Help!

I am running 10.5.8 on my Mac. I just upgraded iPhone from 4s to 5s, but it won't work without new version of itunes and OSX 11. Can anyone tell me what I need to do? I can't sync my iPhone unitl I fix this. I figure I'll need to upgrade operating system, trying to do this without buying a whole new computer or making a major investment.

Your best bet is to check the version of QuarkXPress you have. Since Lion does not include Rosetta my guess is this may be why it is not working. Check out this site http://roaringapps.com/apps:table. This site has a list of apps that work and don't work under Mac OS X Lion.
If you are working in a production environment freelance or stuido that uses design apps like QuarkXPress, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop you should always wait to upgrade your OS. We have a 3 to 6 month policy for upgrading computers and software.

Apple has made a serious error not advising people when the Lion upgrade occurs that their present software may/will not be compatible and advise the user of such before and allow a opt out.
All you can do (besides upgrading all your software) is backup your data off the machine (not to TimeMachine) and disconnect all drives.
Hold c boot off the 10.6 disk and erase your makers hard drive on the far left, (that's the entire drive of everything)
Partition tab: Option: GUID, format OS X extended and click apply so you get a new GUID (replacing the Lion one or trouble occurs later)
Quit and install 10.6, then go through setup and use the same name as before, then update to 10.6.8
Then c boot off the 10.6 disk again and use Disk Utility to Repair the disk the 10.6.8 update messed up.
Then install all your programs again from fresh sources and lastly your user files in the same main user folders as before (music, pictures, documents etc.)
Done as described will get you back just like it was before as close as possible, make SURE to use the same username or else your iTunes and other files get all messed up. Password and drive name can be different though if you wish.
Note: if you've upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6, then you don't get the free iLife as it's not on the 10.6.3 white disks, only on the disks that came with your machine. So that will have to be purchased and reinstalled or use Pacifist to extract it from the 10.5 disks.

Go into your settings and you can adjust the text and the contrast on your phone.
I wear bifocals and I'm not having an issue and my eyes appreciate the reduction of clutter.

You must be signed into the mobile iTunes Store using the same Apple ID you used to originally purchase iTunes Match. On the iOS device go to Settings > iTunes and App Stores and tap the Apple ID. Log out, then log in with the correct ID.

If you use Google for most of your data (calendar, email, contacts), you can sync both devices. My work phone is an Android phone but, because I use Gmail and Google calendar and have my Gmail set up as an Exchange account on my iOS devices, everything stays in sync.

Need help: just upgraded to Mavericks, now can't use audio interface.

I just upgraded to mavericks, and now Itunes and my other programs don't recognize my audio interface.
It's a MobilePre USB preamp. I tried uninstalling and re-installing the driver without success. Interesting, QuickTime sends audio to the external preamp, the sound is filled with static. I've tried playing with latency, but that doesn't help.
I can't understand why Quicktime recognizes the external device, but Itunes doesn't. Suggestions are appreciated.
My machine is 21.5 inch late 2009 model with a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 12 GB of RAM.

If this is correct perhaps an email to Avid could help. I would think that they need to update their drivers to suit Mavericks.
There is also a link on that page to an article about Pro Tools and state that it is not supported on Mavericks at this time.

Thanks for the help, part of it was that I was using CS3 and that's a big problem with Mavericks. Instead of spending hours working around it I bit the bullet and signed up for the photoshop cc service. A bit steep but it's solved several problems. I do have to say that I really like some of the new features so I'm not as annoyed by Adobe's blackmail as I could be.

You need to enter a password for the SMTP server also, not just the incoming mail server.

I have updated my iphone 4 to the latest iOS 6 software.
Now, everything has become extremely slow to use, my volume buttons no longer work. I have to click my home page/lock button numerous times for them to work.
Is there anything I can do other than having to restore my phone back to factory settings.
Please help as I need my phone for work purposes and it's becoming unbearable to use and on the verge of having to buy a replacement iphone.

Apple does not monitor these forums, we are all users like yourself.
I personally am not experiencing the issue and do not know anyone that is, running a variety of iOS versions on multiple iPhones. I would have to conclude that you have a small group of acquantances that are having issues.
Have you tried installing any new app (free or paid)? Some users with similar issues have reported that solving this issue.

Hi guyz just fixed mine just now, I used an app named iREB please refer to the below link. Make sure youre iphone is plugged in to your USB then launch the app as admin. As soon as the app is running go to the "Recovery Mode Loop Fixer" tab & hit the "Set Auto-Boot True (Fixes 1015 errors / Recovery Loops). It will restart your iPhone in just a moment & get you back to your homescreen.
I hope this will help those whos undergoing this horrifying iPhone problem.

I found that Time Machine in Mavericks will sort it all out for you. You shouldn't need to buy another backup drive, unless you have insufficient space left and can't afford to delete whats on there. It should just work fine.
