I'm running CS4 and use a Canon T3i to shoot RAW. Which camera raw patch do I need? I get his error when trying to install the latest patch: "Adobe Application Manager is needed to resolve this problem, however it is missing or damaged. Download a new copy of Adobe Application Manager or install this product again."

If the camera is newer than the last version of Camera Raw that was released for an older version of Photoshop, you won't be able to get direct, convenient "open file" support for the raw files.
You can check per these links:
Minimum Camera Raw version required for a particular camera:
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
Camera Raw versions available for update with various Photoshop releases:
Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
Just glancing at those links, Photoshop CS4 can update to only as far as Camera Raw 5.7.  Unfortunately, the minimum required version to work with your T3i is Camera Raw 6.4.
Your fallback position will be to either convert your raw files to DNG format with the latest free DNG converter release, or get a newer version of Photoshop.  The later has an advantage in that there have been substantial improvements to Camera Raw in recent releases.

I've just installed CS6 creative suite mainly for photoshop CS6. It comes with camera raw 7.0.something, but need something newer to use my canon 6d. When I download camera raw 8.5 and install the raw converter doesnt work anymore, wont even open or isnt available anymore in the plugin list. Tried to reinstall everything for a few times, but nothing helps.

When I search for updates the raw converter doesnt get update automaticly. Frustrating, is costing me the whole morning.

I'm using LR5.7 on a Mac Mini running Mavericks and when I attempt to import a folder of new RAW photos from my external drive into my catalog instead of seeing a preview of each thumbnail photo I see the following message displayed: "Preview Unavailable for this file." If I highlight any other folder of photos the previews are all there. What is the likely reason for these previews being unavailable? JohnnyCam

What camera took these RAW photos?
Did you use any Nikon software to transfer the photos to your computer's hard disk?

  • I use a Nikon d610 and my Photoshop Elements 10 won't open in camera raw. How can I fix it? The camera version is 6.7.0339

i'm using a Nikon D610 now and Photoshop Elements 10 won't open files in camera raw. How can I fix the issue? The version of camera raw is 6.7.0339

    Hi,
The D610 requires camera raw 8.3 which is not compatible with your PSE 10.
You need to upgrade to PSE 12 (or later) or use the free Adobe DNG converter. The converter will take a flder containg your NEF files and converte them to DNG files. The DNG files can then be used by PSE 10.

  • How can i use Nikon D 7100 and Panasonic Lumix DMC-LF1 with Photoshop CS 5 Camera Raw?

How can i use Nikon D 7100 and Panasonic Lumix DMC-LF1 with Photoshop CS 5 Camera Raw?

The one needs 7.4 (or better), the other 8.1, so Photoshop CS5 with ACR6 is not up to the task.
The free DNG Converter could be used to convert the RAW images to DNG which your version of ACR should be able to process.

  • Converting to DNG - which Camera Raw compatiabilty and why?

When converting camera Raw files in Lightroom 2.5, a dialog box asks which Camera Raw/Photoshop version I want to make DNG file compatible with.   (See my screengrab below) I understand why Adobe made different vesions of Camera Raw and stopped supporting older versions (so users would buy the upgrades of Photoshop and Lightroom).  The question I ask.. Does a DNG file created to be compatible with Camera Raw 5.4 have superior qualities/algorithms/technical mumbo jumbo/ finese /or what not over a DNG file created to be compatible with Camera Raw 2.4 and later?
Seems sort of silly to not use the 2.4 setting if 5.4 has no advantage (other than keeping older versions of Photoshop and Lightroom from opening it ).
    What is the scoop?

Camera Raw does evolve over time. There are changes to the rendering algorithms. Additionally, new camera support is added with each new iteration of Camera Raw. The older versions are offered so that if you are still using older versions of Camera Raw and Photoshop you can generate compatible DNG files.
If you are using current versions then I suggest you choose the most current version in the dialog box. If you are still working under ACR 4.6 then choose that. It's there so you aren't "forced" to buy upgrades to PS and LR.

  • I am working with Lr5 and trying to send my photos to PsCC via camera raw.

Trying to move photos from Lr 5 to PsCC via camera raw.  It is going directly into PsCC and by passing the camera raw plug in.  What can I do to include that camera raw step?
In Lr5 thumbnail, >right click > edit in Ps and then it goes into Ps by passing the camera raw step.  Suggestions?

Lightroom and ACR are equivalent. They both contain and work off the same raw conversion engine - one as a standalone application, the other as a Photoshop plugin.
When you "Edit In" from Lightroom the file is actually processed by ACR, but "silently" and bypassing the interface. What happens is that Lightroom just passes its settings to ACR - you've already made your adjustments there, there's no need to bring them up a second time in ACR.
This is as long as the two are in version sync. If not, ACR can't read all the settings from Lr, so it switches to another mode. In that case the file is fully processed by Lightroom, which then sends a rendered TIFF or PSD to Photoshop. That's a little less flexible and means you can't use some of the options you have in the "sync" mode, like smart objects, open as layers, or HDR. But otherwise the result is identical.

  • How to use the update mechanism in Photoshop CS10 for Camera Raw?

    Good Evenning!
I would like to open .NEF files with Adobe Photoshop CS10 (RAW for Nikon D5200) but my version of Camera Raw is too old.
I need at least the 7.3 version.
When I try to download it, I have this message: Please use the update mechanism in Photoshop CS10 for Camera Raw. But how?? When I go to "Help" tab, to "Updates", it says that no update available.
    Can please someone help me?
    Thanks a lot!!

Which version of photoshop or photoshop elements are you using?
    Which operating system?
There is no such version as cs10.
Do you mean photoshop shop elements 10?
If you go to Help>About Photoshop Elements (windows) or Photoshop Elements Editor>About Photoshop Elements (mac), that should tell you which version you have.

  • CS4 and using Beyond Trust

Has anyone had any experience/luck running CS4 PPro/AME/Encore without admin rights? If you got it to work... HOW? Our IT dept is taking away admin rights and functionality of these 3 is greatly diminished (like I can't get a finished product out of the PC). They keep talking about using a product from Beyond Trust. Anyone know anything about it? I need to get them to solve the problem they created fast so I can get back to work or prove to them the ONLY solution is admin rights.

That My Documents aspect, has tripped up many folk, runnning on a network. I have not read of any "solution" to it, but to allow Premiere to "have its way." Maybe others have gotten a workaround from Adobe, but I've just not seen it.
Glad that things are getting better. Unless on has spent some of their IT time with graphics/NLE workstations, it's a whole different ballgame for them. Most IT folk are really good with other programs on a network, but then when they encounter a graphics/NLE workstation, they are out of their element, as there are some specific requirements. One client, the only graphics person in that corporation, always had issues with her IT department messing up her Adobe programs. They wanted to do everything on her machine, just like the other 1000 computers that they administered. She would sneak me into her office, sort of like Mission Impossible, and I would set up her Adobe programs. That would work fine for a while, until IT did any sort of update, and then they would undo all of the Adobe settings, and her computer would be useless, until I climbed down the rope from the vent, and "fixed" it for her. Her IT department knew the rest of the network well, but had never bothered to even look at her Adobe programs, for their unique requirements - just not something that they wanted to do, for just one machine.
Good luck, and maybe a bottle of 25 year old Single Malt Scotch to the IT guy?

  • I have CS4 and use photoshop, illustrator,

I have CS4 and primarily only use Photoshope, illustrator, and Indesign running on an iMAC 10.8.5.   I want to upgrade to Apple's OSX Yosemite, but am reluctant to do so, as I keep reading that people are incountering "error" issues with the CS4 version.   Has Adobe addressed these problems?  I don't have the need to migrate to the Creative Cloud and CS4 does everything I need.

Adobe hasn't addressed those "issues" and never will. Nobody goes back to 8 year old software just because it's no longer compatible with whatever Apple have gotten in their heads with Yosemite. Simply stick with what you have.

  • Adobe Camera Raw and using a Canon 5D Mark2

I wanted to share my learning curve about this problem for CS3 users and below who use a Canon 5dMk 2.
My previous workflow had been to convert all my CR2 files to Adobe DNG using Lightroom version 2 which works fine. However I have started using DXO Optics Pro v 5+ which is unable at present to read the DNG files.
So I now use DXO to convert the CR2 files into Linear DNGs which I can then use in PS and LR etc. What I didn't realize is that PS is unable to read the native RAW CR2 files from the Canon as the minimum ACR specification is 5.2! CS3 ACR is stuck at 4.6.
If you were only using PS CS3 you would be unable to read your RAW files created using the Canon.
Just thought this might be helpful for anyone out there.
I back up and archive all my original CR2 files to a separate hard drive in case I need access to them in the future. Interestingly there is a very technical discussion out there about Linear DNG vs Adobe DNG and the potential merits/ demerits of the two formats.
As I have a large library of Adobe DNG files I would hope that DXO optics Pro is in future able to access these.

    Correction:
<If you were only using PS CS3 you would be unable to read your RAW files created using the Canon.>
This is not meant to read as it sounds. Yes you can use CS3 with Canon 5DMk 2 files provided they have been converted to DNGs.

  • Which camera raw update do I download using a Canon SL1 and PE11?

I've looked at the camera raw update list and it tells me for my camera (Canon SL1) the minimun raw plugin I need is 7.4   It then says that PE11 came with version 7.1 and with my camera it's compatible with camera raw plug-in through version 8.0.  When I go to the list of plug-ins to download, I'm still not sure which one I'm suppose to download.  In short, I just want to be able to read my CR2 files from my Canon SL1 in PE 11.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

    Hi,
In the editor, go to Help -> Updates and it should download and apply ACR 7.4 which is the one you need.
To check which version you have, in the editor, go to Help -> About plug-in -> Camera RAW (click on the splash screen to get rid of it).
    Hope that helps,
    Brian
