Go to Apple and look for the Java for OSX 2014-001 link. Download from there and install it.

After just installing OS10 Yosemite v10.10.1, I try to open Photoshop CS5 and get a message saying 'To open "CS5ServiceManager", you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.' Yes, I think that's correct. Apple stopped installing Java as part of the OS after Lion. If you check the installers for Mountain Lion through Yosemite, there are a lot of root Java processes OS X still installs, or Java wouldn't work at all. It's just the actual runtime environment no longer installs. The user has to do that.

What application files? Do you mean the Adobe apps themselves? If so, yes, it's been reported that the CS5 and CS6 apps in particular usually need to be reinstalled after upgrading OS X to Yosemite. That's actually an old problem that isn't a Yosemite only issue. -

This answer may be somewhat late, but just in case other have the same issues, I went to site listed below and it solved the problem. No need to reinstall CS5 product. I hope this works for you.

I just updated my Mac to the new op system and when I tried to open my Ai it gave me this message, "To open "Adove Illustrator CS5.1 you need to install the legacy java SE 6 runtime." I updated my Java to 8 and it still won't open. I tried to update my Ai to 11...it won't update.

It seems to be enough to create empty folders at “/System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk” and “/System/Library/Java/Support/Deploy.bundle”, to make Illustrator use Jave SE 8 as it should.

Found the answer:
Java for OS X 2014-001 includes installation improvements, and supersedes all previous versions of Java for OS X. This package installs the same version of Java 6 included in Java for OS X 2013-005.
