I'm so close to giving up on downloading the windows 8.1 update !! I need help

I have been trying to download this update for the past week this is my 4th time. Today it took hours to get to 63% complete and when it reached 63% it says "applying changes". Its been 2 hours and it doesn't change from "63% complete applying
changes". I'm so frustrated why is this taking so long!? Should I restart it??

It is not recommended to do force reset during upgrade but if you have to do it, it will try recover Windows and then try run Windows 8.1 Upgrade Advisor:

Tried that by shutting down via the power button only as the normal shutdown was nixed by the open window issue. It did not help. Found a very similar question in the discussions and it recommended "Force Quit". That worked and the update works normal and the window is gone. Thanks!

As the message comes from AVG yo will need to read about AVG to stop those alerts.

Yes, I know I can close FireFox from the file menu instead of the X. But this isn't a solution. Every application since Windows was announced has been able to be closed with the X. It would take a long time to retrain this 82 year-old to quit using the X and go to File>Close. This process is so ingrained in my actions that it would not be possible in my lifetime - and I expect to live till 103! If I was still managing a development team instead of being retired, I would fire the developer that released a product that didn't adhere to convention that has been ingrained for 30 years. When I try to close the Firefox window, it is not closing. I have to click outside of the window and click back on the x button in order to close it.

For example, if I type something into the Google search bar and then try to click on the minimize or close button, nothing happens. In order to close Firefox, I have to click ''outside'' the firefox window (on my desktop or task bar) and then I can click close. If I click inside the window again, I cannot close.

You could exit Firefox from the File menu. You can also use Ctrl-Shift-W to close the window.

They're still working on fixing that Bug - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=608589 - a fix for another Bug - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=613888 - landed earlier this week which might have fixed it. Unless you are willing to install a nightly Trunk which has the latest fixes, you'll have to wait for 4.0b10 for the fix.

A work around is goto about:config
toggle the following line so that it is set to false.

How do I import a clip when the window automatically closes?

I was unable to even open After Effects CC when I upgraded to OS Mavericks. Once I realized adobe released a patch for it (the 12.0.1 "trial" update), the program opened. I thought all was fine, until I attempted to import a new video clip. It would not let me even move the clip, let alone edit it, before giving me a "grouping" error, and then abruptly crashing. Today Adobe released the 12.1 update, which seems to be running ok, except the window for importing footage automatically closes once opened. I can no longer just drag a new clip in to my composition either. How can I get by this?

I know that the creditors decide when they stop reporting and at some point may even close the inactive accounts. Be aware that if you close cards your overall utilization will go up. Just something to consider. I would probably escalate your CLI requests to the EO/facebook/twitter before giving up on them. If that is the only reason you're getting rid of them. I use prism on my iphone. Some use mint.

Canon 1DX support was added to ACR in version 6.7, 7.1. An updated CS6 should be at level ACR 8.6. If your ACR is not at level 8.6 try using CS6 menu Help>Updates. If that does not install ACR 8.6 try downloading the ACR and DNG 8.6 converter and see if ACR 8.6 will install into your CS6.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).
