I'm so glad to have my Playbook!

Yesterday, I tried out a Nexus7 tablet for Google. After one hour of confusion and a massive headache, I truly prefer my Playbook.  It's a lot easier to use with the swiping and tapping of apps and widgets.  I like the simplicity of the layout of the apps and I love how I can add my own pesonal apps on my Home Page.  I don't know, but people keep on claiming how great the Nexus7 is, but after 4 months of using my Playbook, it works for me.  (:

Facinating true story:
Two colleagues of mine (one owning PB and the other one owning iPad) borrowed for a short time their own devices to a girl that wanted to buy iPad but never used tablet before.
At the end PlayBook won. Also thanks to its size. And you can easily put PB into woman handbag.

Been in the iMac world now all of 2 days.  I'm glad to have USB capability.  I downloaded photos from a Centron flash drive and now need to remove the flash drive.  Do you eject flash drives on iMacs as we did on PC's?  Can't find an answer in the support area.  Thanks...

Yes. All external drives regardless of how they are connected must be ejected before they can be unplugged.

  • Im glad i have the photo and not the video....

    hi everyone,
this is not a question but rather a commet.......I just came back form a trip to bestbuy..... there they had the ipod video....
so i wanted to see it (druel a little) and was maybe considering buying a 30gig.........
i was very impressed with the very thin profile...... but was quite disappointed with the 'new' thumb wheel control ring thing.......... it was horrible, its too small, and the middle button is not a all-one-piece unit with the wheel, its seperate, and felt very weak and like it was going to break or pop off........ also, being that it was 'flat' on the surface its even more prone to chip's anmd scratches...... im glad i have my ipod photo........ i like it alot better, and probably will not buy a video til they change the controls.;........ i did however buy a shuffle (for days i dont need 60 gig of music) and i love it....!!!!

say, do you think apple will let me turn in my ipod
photo for a new ipod video? or would i just have to
    buy a new one?
...just because there's a new model out and you want one?...Doubt it. Even if theres something wrong with your photo iPod, they will probably repair it (if still under warranty), not send you the video model.

  • One of my blackberry playbook email accounts quit working and I have done everything in my power to get it back up and going to no avail. I finally deleted it and tried to put it back on. Forget that. What is up with this? I have had playbook from the sta

now i am really frustrated with it. Every single update has robbed me of battery power which began with about 8-10 hours of usage and now I am lucky if I get 2 hours. It isn't the battery. It has something to do with the updates to the OS. It was fine until the first one and it has only gotten worse each time. I have had three email accounts on here since they started with the message app and now it has gone crazy. It gives me a server error message each time. I put in the same settings for it as the ones on my laptop to no avail. I am ready to scream. I have worked for days trying to get this email account back on my BB playbook, NOT!  And also I want another reader on here. Kobo is great, but I would love to have another option as well. I tried to put some pdf books on it a few days ago and they wouldn't show up when I put them on. Some did and some didn't. I am so frustrated with playbook. I have loved it till the last 2 weeks. Now, I am extremely frustrated to say the least. Well I have been upset about the battery thing almost from the get go. Can anyone help with the email thing. My email is a bellsouth account. I have 2 yahoo accounts on it and they seem to be fine, but afraid to take them off and re-put them all back on lest they should do the same thing.

There is nothing wrong with the OS update.
    Delete ALL your email accounts.
    Restart Playbook
Put the accounts back and ensure they are all set with PUSH ON.  Manual (push off) will burn battery.
Similarly delete your wifi connections and add back when required.
Turn off wifi is not connected to wifi.
Any "hunting for connection" in email or wifi will burn up battery.

  • But wait, there's more... more wifi problems = glad to have my nexus 7

i work in a wifi zone.  who doesn't.  i used to use my ipad 2 (64gig wifi+3g iOS 6.0.1) all the time here to get things from dropbox or take notes with evernote, or to surf answers to questions posed in meetings.  wonderful tool.  then i updated the OS to 6...
and now i can't use it for more than a couple of minutes before wifi quits working.
i get the same spining wheel of death in the settings>wifi that others have complained about.
i've started carrying my nexus 7 around with the ipad and without failing even a single time the nexus has never had an issue connecting while the ipad sits and spins its wheel of death.
and all this can be had for $1,000 with tax.  yea.
at home my wifi connectivity is much better with the ipad, but still it's worse than it was before the 'update'.  further, if the nexus can connect i expect the 4 times more expensive, from the great minds at apple, ipad to be able to connect also.
    guess i was wrong.
i don't get angry when computers can't do complex things that are relatively new, but wifi isn't new, and i get immensly hacked off when a company breaks a basic functionality of a devise and offers nary a word on a fix.
face it folks.  this is just another IT gadget made by just another computer company.

iOS 6.1 was just released today. Maybe there's a wifi fix.
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • I am going to Phnom Penh, Cambodia next week. I have a playbook, but only got the rapid charger to take with me. Was wondering if the charger will work over there or will I get it burned up?

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Read the label on the charger. They are are mostly " input 110/240 V" or "110 - 240V" which covers all world power ranges. If it says "Input 110/115v" then it is Americas/Canada domestic only and it will get fried as Cambodia are on 230-240 like majority of the world .

  • PlayBook browser doesn't work

    Hello!
So I updated my PlayBook OS and it was working fine for a while, then suddenly the browser wont open any pages and all apps requiring wifi wont work. It says that I am connected to the internet and within range but nothing happens. I restored it, but I can't complete the start up because it still wont connect to the internet even though it says it is, so its rendered useless now.
    What should I do??

I suffered the same problem last night.
Everything was working just fine. I recharged my battery, turned it on, opened the browser and tried to load a page. The load progress indicator (for lack of a better term) stopped at halfway on the browser when trying to load a page.
I cleared all items in memory (cookies, local storage, cookies, cache, etc), closed the browser and then restarted with (unfortunately) the same result.
I did the above again, with a restart of the Playbook itself- same result.
I deleted then 'rediscovered' my wifi (home)- same result.
I spent 45 minutes trying to troubleshoot the issue and gave up out of frustration due to the late hour (3:15 am).
I started my PB this morning, and all is working well. Huh? While I'm glad I have connectivity once again, the issue itself was maddening. Any ideas on what else I could have done to try to resolve the issue if this ever occurs again?
    Thanks,
    czar

  • HT1386 I have one album on my IPod Touch that does not show up on ITunes.

I am trying to download my music to the libraries on my computer. I noticed that one of my albums is not showing on ITunes but is showing up on my IPod.

No problem. Glad to have helped.
Not sure as to why it happened. I just know this has been happening to a few users lately. It may be with how you have your iPod touch configured to sync Podcasts. So you may want to double check these settings as well as mess around with them a bit to figure out if that is the cause. Otherwise, I'm not entirely sure on this one. Sorry I cannot be of much help here.

  • I have a replacement Note 3.  My Vodafone SIM, which worked fine in the original, fails in the replacement.  When I try to access Settings, the menu briefly flashes, then the phone reverts to the home page.  Will a Factory Data Reset fix this?

    Hi,
I have a Note 3 and a Vodafone SIM that are not playing well together.
    The history is:
I got my Note 3 over 2 years ago.  We visited Italy 2 years ago and I bought a Vodafone sim at a Vodafone outlet.  Everything worked perfectly during that trip and a subsequent trip to France.
Last October, I had to replace the Note 3 because the camera was failing.  I had insurance, so the insurance company sent me a refurbished Note 3. When I tried to use the SIM last December, the Note 3 had problems. When I put the SIM in and started the Note 3, the phone recognized the sim (but gave me an error that, according to Verizon, is spurious).  I could make phone calls but I could not access the data network.  In order to access the data network, you have to go into Settings. More Settings, Mobile Networks and set the Access Point Name.
With the replacement Note 3, I cannot access Settings.  As soon as I try to access Settings (with the Vodafone SIM installed), the Settings menu appears and then immediately the home screen comes up.  After working with Verizon for over an hour, I was able to get into Settings and set the access point name by booting into Safe mode.  But as soon as I rebooted into 'normal' mode, Settings failed and I could not access its menu (to turn on wifi, for example).  There are a couple of other apps that did the same thing - but I cannot remember which ones.
I have talked to Vodafone - they have no clue.  I talked to a Samsung rep I ran into at Best Buy, he thought the Vodafone SIM might be corrupted.  And now a Verizon tech I talked to last week thinks it is a firmware problem on the phone and I should do a Factory Data Reset.
Have you ever heard of this problem?  What do you think might be causing it?
    Thanks for your help.

On2CO,  I'm glad you have reached out to us today. Thank you so much for the very detail description on what is going on with the device. Sounds like there might be an issue with an application that might be causing these issues. The reason I say that is, when the phone is in Safe Mode you are able to access the Settings screens with no issues. While in Safe Mode that does block all 3rd party applications from running on the phone. I would suggest on trying to back up the device and perform a factory reset: http://spr.ly/6-182Vuo (you would want to make sure to uncheck Automatic Restore in step 3). Once the reset is complete try to see if you can get into Settings. Then, I would recommend on adding 3rd party applications back on to the device one by one to see if we can find what app might be causing this issue. • My experience of Playbook and RIM customer support

On Oct 26, 2012, I purchased BlackBerry 32G Playbook from
The Source. I contacted BlackBerry support on Dec 27, 2012 as I was having problem charging it using the charger that came
with the Playbook. The charging cable connects to charging port on the playbook
very loosely and it doesn’t seem to make good stable contact. After some
troubleshooting over the phone, I was told to ship the Playbook for repair.
I was issued an RMA. The Playbook was sent on
Jan 7, 2013 to Lavergne, TN for repair. I received the playbook on Jan 14, 2013
from Lavergne, TN. It came with no note as what was the problem and how it was
    fixed.
On receiving, I soon found out that I still cannot charge
the unit. Called BlackBerry Support again. I was frustrated with same questions
from call center person and she hang up on me. I called them back and it was a
different person. Customer Service representative told me that they cannot see
what repairs if any were done by their facility in Lavergne, TN. I was issued a
new. One more time, the unit was sent back to Lavergne, TN for
repair on Jan 21, 2013. This time, I put a note with Playbook for repair
department to notify me as what was the problem and how it was fixed.
The unit came back from Lavergne, TN on Jan 28, 2013. There
was no note as what was wrong with the unit and how it was fixed. I soon found
out that unit is still not charging. Called the BlackBerry Customer Service
again and I was very frustrated at their sheer inability to fix the problem.
After a very long unpleasant conversation, I was told that they will put a hold
on my credit card and will send me a replacement unit. To avoid being charged,
I need to send my Playbook in 10 business days.
Since I’m out options, I grudging agreed. They couldn’t even tell me if
the replacement unit is going to be a new or refurbished. I was issued new RMA.
I received the replacement Playbook on Jan 30, 2013. Thought
my troubles were over finally. But then I tried my charger to charge the
replacement Playbook and the chargers cable won’t fit into the Playbook. So I
called Customer Service again, this time demanding my money back and they can
    have their Playbook back.
So far I tried three BlackBerry chargers and none of them
cannot charge the Playbook. Every time, I called Customer Service, I was told
to troubleshoot the problem myself. A customer service representative that hang
up on me told me to go to any nearby store, borrow a charger from store to see
    if my Playbook would charge.
The entire month of the Jan 2013 I didn’t get to use the
Playbook. Since I cannot charge Playbook, I cannot use it at all. I got to use
it for less than 2 months and I spent over $200 for a lemon, a horrible
customer/technical support and very long headaches. I had to take Tylenol after
every call to BlackBerry customer service.

Is your PlayBook in a case by any change? I have a friend who had his in a case. When he tried charging it, the plug would not fit in properly and would not charge. Apparently, the hole cut in the case was just a bit too tight so the plug would not go in all the way. He had to remove it from the case in order to charge it up.

  • Multiple devices + 1 BBID - Playbook and Smartphone

    Based on the answers provided in the thread below;
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-PlayBook-2-0-Insider/Multiple-devices-1-BBID/td-p/...
    I do not understand the following statement;
App World supports one simultaneous BBOS device and one PlayBook, and only 5 switches each per year (a maximum of 15 unique device switches per product line per year)
I have a Playbook 64GB and Strom2 9550. My Storm 2 is on BIS and Playbook connects via WiFi or sometimes tethered through Storm 2. So, both my devices would be logged into my Blackberry ID. I would be using App world many times on both the devices, not simultaneously. Does every switch between Playbook and my Storm 2 switching counted as "unique device switching"? If that is called so, I would be reaching 15 switching in a day or two.
For some reason, at the time of my Playbook purchase, my Storm 2 was not on BIS, because of carrier problem. I switched to another carrier and now, just got my BIS running on my Storm 2. But I have not logged into the Storm 2's App world using my Blackberry ID yet.
Can some one give a clear definition of "unique device switch" ?

No. Those are the "simultaneous" use.

Changing your device from a Storm2 to a new Torch (i.e., a new handheld device PIN) would be a unique device switch.

  • A total beginner with Blackberry Playbook

    Hello
Someone got me a Blackberry Playbook, I certainly accepted the gift even though I wasn't sure what one of these was!
However since i got it, I am struggling to connect to wifi?> How can i fix this problem?. I have phoned up the support line which isnt much use,
I cant get past the connecting to wifi screen?
    Without me sounding stupid.
Do you need to have this playbook plugged in at home near a computer?. Or is it portable? For example, can i take this round with me anywhere i go?
Or do i need to be near a wifi connection, totally confused havent got a clue whats going on
If anyone can help me (and boy i need help )> that would be great
If someone could also tell me how the playbook works what it does? i really dont have a clue!

Greetings and welcome to the community support forums!
Here are some links to help you setup and use your Playbook and learn more about it.
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/tablets/playbook/get-started.html
That will help you connect to WiFi.
You don't need to be connected to a PC to use the Playbook, but if you need to be connected to the internet, you will need a Wifi connection, unless your model is a 4g model which connects over the air though a SIM card to your mobile network.
After reviewing the link above, come back and feel free to ask specific questions!

  • How can i revert back to an earlier version of Firefox? I have had nothing but slow, slow loading eversince I upgraded to4.01.1. I hate this version of Firefox. I hate the toolbar, it's a horrible colour and I can hardly read it.

Ever since I upgraded my Firefox to 4.01.1, everthing loads much, much slower.......I can go make a coffee while the page loads. Sometimes, it is soooooooooo slow, that it times out and I have to start all over again. Even when I sign on and load google, sometimes it takes forever.
I also do not like the toolbar at the top. It's grey and hard to read, what is wrong with white?
Can I revert back to the earlier version of Firefox? It worked much better. I use ancestry.com a lot and they even recommend a 3.??? version of Firefox.
Anything is better, so I don't have to sit and wait and wait and wait.

Thank you, Zenos. I tried rolling back to v31.2.0, since I had not encountered problems prior to December. However, that didn't help. So I followed your valuable suggestion to revert to v24.6; that seems to have done the trick.
I would like to mark this problem as "Solved" -- the rollback seems to have worked. However, since my original post was a complex mix of things, before I do that, should I post the individual problem sets that I had noted (address fields/nicknames problems -- numbers 1-3; default font problem -- number 4; attachment reminder problem -- number 5) as separate issues which have not been solved?
Do you know if these various issues are being worked on? I'm glad to have the temporary fix of rolling back to an earlier version, but I'd like to get back on the current update schedule at some point if and when these problems have been corrected.
    Thank you again!

  • My ipod say it has headphones in when it does not so the sound does not work. What do i do? I have already reset it a lot.

My ipod sound is not working! I dropped it in water and it works fine but i can not hear anything. It say theat it has headphones in but there are no headphones in. What do i do? I have already reset it.

Glad to have helped. One more thing to try, after drying your iPod. Try plugging and unplugging the headphone jack quickly about 12 times, it could be that the switch inside the port is stuck, many times this action will un-stick it. If the problem continues you may need to look into purchasing an out of warranty iPod, refurbished one are cheaper. Also, if you have not already done so, BACKUP ALL YOUR STUFF from this iPod to your computer, water damaged iPods have a habit of stop working without any notice. Hope this helps, Good luck.

  • PlayBook not sharing file with PC

I have a PlayBook and it works perfectly with my home system running Windows 8 with USB connection but it shows "Connected to Computer" when I connect it to my office system (also running Windows 8) but I can't access it either as a network location or external storage device like I use to on my home system. The BlackBerry Device Manager however comes up as a tray icon showing the PlayBook, it PIN, it IP4 address, and Time connected.
    What I have tried
    1. Mapping it as a network drive using the playbook name (\\playbookname\Media). It replied device not found
    2. Mapping it as a network drive using the IP4 address shown in BlackBerry Device Manager (\\169.254.234.25\Media). It replied system seem to be properly connected but device not responding.
    3. Turned off my anti virus (which should be my firewall too) as suggested by the help on BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Nothing happened

If you each finish your portions of your movie and output your movies as DV-AVIs (Share/Personal Computer/DV-AVI), you can combine these final pieces in a new project with virtually no loss of quality and create a very nice DVD. (DV-AVIs are rather large though -- about 1 gigabyte for every 4 or 5 minutes of movie.)
If, on the other hand, you want to exchange works-in-progress so that you can each edit, then exchange projects and edit some more, it gets a bit more complicated. To do this you'll need to exchange your entire media set -- the raw video you're editing, music, photos, etc. -- in addition to your project files and, short of passing a hard drive back and forth, that could be a bit challenging.
