I'm stuck! Going from LR3 to CS5 I don't get Camera Raw dialog box

I'm stuck. When I edit pics from LR3 to CS5 the Camera Raw dialog box does not open. Everything is updated.  I can get Camera Raw dialog box to open if I open a photo directly in to CS5.  I have looked at my external editing options.  All seems fine.  Please help.  Thanks!

I'm not a LR user, but I believe it serves as your raw converter (similarly to ACR), therefore when you edit directly out of LR into CS5 the image is already rendered ready for CS5 usage.  If you start directly in CS5 then ACR is invoked for raw file conversion.

  • When I use the command "Place in photoshop" CC from Bridge CC, it skips the Camera Raw Dialog box

I am having an issue when I use the "Place in Photoshop" command from within Bridge CC, it is skipping the Camera Raw Dialog box and not behaving like a normal smart object. This has been my workflow for years and suddenly it's not working in CC. Anyone have any advice? Thanks!

As far as i can tell, if you use Place>In Photoshop from Bridge with a camera raw file and don't have any other documents open, it skips the camera raw dialog, but does place (open as a smart object)
and then you can double click on the smart object icon on the thumbnail in the l;ayers panel to open camera raw.
If you already have a document open then Place>In Photoshop using a camera raw file opens the camera raw dialog before placing the photo.
Also check the photoshop>Preferences>General and verify you have Place or Drag Raster Images as Smart Objects checked.
The above behaviour seems to be the same in photoshop cc as past versions of photoshop, at least on the windows versions.

    Try installing it manually from:

  • Please clear instructions for getting camera raw working for CS5 (PC)

I've worked for 2+ hours with a support person online and read through camera raw instructions in this forum and have re-installed CS5, downloaded and installed the camera raw plug-in multiple times and just run out of options.  I see in the this forum that there are discussions about getting the files in the right place, but I cannot even tell which file names to check on whether things are in the wrong places.
Is there someone who can just list what files should be where so that camera raw will appear as a format in Photoshop and Bridge?  I am running Windows 7 64-bit.  When I try to open a file in camera raw format in Photoshop that format does not appear, and when I try to open in Bridge that option is there but greyed out.  I am entirely stuck and the support person gave up saying that if the downloaded plug-in would not fix the problem then he doesn't know what to check or do.  I suspect the files may be in the wrong place, or maybe there are duplicates (one comment in the forum mentions this as a possible problem).
Thank you in advance to anyone who can help.

Just to make sure we're in sync...  Have you tried the following?
    Open Photoshop.
Choose File - Open As - then select Camera Raw from the list of formats.
Also, Photoshop should just open Camera Raw automatically when you try to open a raw file (e.g., .NEF, .CR2), without doing anything special.
Can you specifically describe what actually happens when you try to open a raw file, and how you're going about doing so?

  • How to get Camera RAW / Photoshop CS5 to work with Canon 100D?

How to get Camera RAW / Photoshop CS5 to work with Canon 100D? I don't want to by this product again and again...

In what way is ACR not working in Bridge?  Is there no right-click Open in Camera Raw available from Bridge, or there is, but the ACR version is less than ACR 6.7.1 or what exactly is the issue?
Also, if you open Photoshop and do Help / About Plug-ins / Camera Raw, is ACR missing from the list, or if not, what version does it say is installed?
You might also want to describe what methods you have tried to correct the issue, since saying you've tried what you've seen posted and they didn't work, isn't really much to go on.

Alternatively, install & use RawTherapee instead to develop your raw files instead (free and open source).

how do you get camera raw plugin for cs5.1 extented for new olympus omd e-m1 camera?

Native support requires ACR version 8.3, which will only run under CS6 or CC.
Use the free DNG converter to make DNGs readable in older ACR versions. http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates.html

  • Can you get camera RAW from an iPod/iPhone 5?

I have a lot of high end camera equipment, but find that the iPod 5 is so handy that I am starting to take a lot more photos on that rather than my Nikons.
I know I am sacrificing a lot for convenience but would still like to get the best images possible.
    1. Is there a method of getting camera RAW from an iPhone?
    2. What is the optimal format from the iPhone?
    3. If I chose uncompressed jpeg as the Export format from iPhoto/Aperture, is that already too late?
    4. If so where and how do I get better versions?
    5. Can anyone refer me to a workflow that will extract the best possible image and then clean it up?
    Thanks
    Peter

You may be able to extract it from the backup of the iPod
iPhone Backup Extractor for Windows and Mac
Otherwise, you will have to make screen-shots of the screens and then view/print them out

Imac Snow Leopard .....While adding new fonts, somehow dumped necessary fonts from OS 10.6 library. now have only blank menus, dialog boxes, even apple support site. How to fix?

    Thanks again baltwo,
    Thank you all very much,
Strangely enough even though I had gotten the " Install failed....Mac OS X could not be installed on your computer....The install could not copy the necessary support files"  I had left it on the screen and left the room for awhile. I walked back into my computer room a few minutes ago and the window on the screen stated that the SL OS 10.6.4 had successfully installed. I am now very carefully checking things out to make sure the fonts are where they should be. With the exception of some updating it appears all may be well.
PS. Below is a note I was writing to Kurt (also assisting me) to try and detail what had happened. Added it in case it could be of any value to you
    Kurt,
Thank you for response. following is series of events to my best recollection.
I would typically not have been this stupid/ignorant but was doing this in a hurry with someone asking me questions...wasn't paying attn. to what I was doing
    • downloaded new fonts
    • opened downloaded fonts, clicked font icons to open and install them.
    • typed "fonts" in spotlight (with the intention of moving new fonts into font folder)The Spotlight results window revealed 5 or 6 font folders. I ignorantly started to try a clean up by installing all fonts into a single folder (not thinking about system fonts)
Sometimes when you are moving a folder the window you moved it from will jump around..well this occurred and I mistakenly released the folder on the desk top. This caused a copy to be made. After some investigation I realized it was a copy of the required system fonts that were still located in the original "spotlight results" window.
    • I attempted to delete the copy..when I did an administrator password box appeared I entered the password and the result was both system font folders were deleted (the original & the desk top copy I erroneously made)
    • Now windows open but are blank with sometimes faded mini sized icons. If I click one of the mini icons i get a new blank window. I am unable to give any instruction, have total blank menus, dialog boxes, etc.
I can open the some of the items that have icons in the apple dock at bottom of page in the

  • Going from CS3 to CS5

I have just updated from CS3 to CS5 and am experiencing
growing pains. I have several questions but I will do them one at a time.
first- In CS3 I edited a jpg file then hit save as and change the file name in order to have the original file
and the edited one saved. CS5- When I do this and hit "save as" nothing happens. Am I doing something
wrong or is this an "improvement" of CS5
    Jim R

Do you have a small screen display?  One that doesn't meet the minimum 1024 x 768 pixel requirement of Photoshop perhaps?
Unfortunately, it will not put up a Save dialog on a too-small screen.  Yeah, that seems pretty bogus.

  • Can't open raw files from Nikon d800 in PS CS5 and can't update Camera Raw plug-ins

  • How can I get a Distiller dialog box in Illustrator CS5 which is exactly the same as Distiller?

I would like to know if there is some type of plug-in, etc. out there that would allow me to have all the functionality of a Distiller dialog box when I save a PDF out of Illustrator CS5. Right now, I just have what comes installed with Illustrator. It's a stripped down version of what you would find in distiller.

When you save a PDF out of Distiller it doesn't just have different options, it's an entirely different program. It doesn't do things the same way, so it can't have the same options. Saving from Distiller is in many ways better, expecially in that transparency isn't flattened.
What specific options are you looking for?

  • I can't preview RAW files in Bridge CS5 or open them in Camera Raw

I've been using Photoshop CS5, Bridge and Camera Raw 6.7 with no problems whatsoever.  I recently upgraded the OS on my MacBook Pro to 10.8.5 and can no longer preview RAW files in Bridge, or open them in Camera Raw.
I've downloaded the Adobe DNG converter, but would much prefer to using my existing workflow if possible.
Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance for any help!

Adobe doesn't support CS5, an when I spoke to Apple, I was told that this is a known issue with OS 10.8.5 and that they're working on a patch.  In the meantime I'm using Adobe's DNG as a workaround.
Have not heard before of this Known Issue, also find it hard to believe being true. But can't test my self because I only have CS6 and CC installed and always use Photodownloader to convert to DNG upon import. I have just installed the 10.8.5 update and checked in Bridge CC pointing to an attached card reader. no problem in showing the CR2 thumbs, it works as always and as expected.
To my knowledge Bridge CS5 is already 64 bits and I can't think of any valid reason why an OS update would cause this problem so suddenly (but I'm not a technician I have to confess…)
However, I would first try a check and repair permissions from Apple Disk Utility and also try Cocktail (good and cheap 3th party maintenance application for Mac) to clear caches and check permissions.
Also try a new user account just for testing to rule out your current account as the culprit.

  • Cannot install updates for CS5 photoshop on Mac, including Camera Raw 6.7

I have been trying to use the update function on CS5 so that I can update Photoshop and Camera Raw so that I can work with RAW files from my camera.  Though the files appear to download, I keep receiving error messages that they failed to install and should try later.  This keeps happening over and over.  I am using a Mac Pro (from mid 2010) and have already updated to OS X Yosemite.  Grateful for any help anyone can provide!
