I'm sure this is simple--
I just updated to OS X Mavericks and my old version of MS Word won't work. Is there a plug in or something that will fix this?!
Oh my gosh. I just tried to do the back up thing. It said "your backup system disk could not be found." what does that mean?!!
Are my files safe? They seem to all BE here I just can't get to them.
Okay then, is there a way to upgrade to MS 2011 for free? I imagine not but maybe it's so out of date by now...?

My Iphone 4s is not deleting phone numbers permanently. I will go in to delete them, however, the phone still has them saved. I can see this when I go to text people. What do I need to do to turn this off? I'm sure it is simple.
I don't want them ALL deleted just certain ones...you know?

My page consists of multiple slices from ImageReady.
Everytime I tell Dreamweaver to center the page all the slices go,
however the text does not. I'm sure this is so simple, but it's

hello, I'm sure this is a simple question answered before, but I'm really confused. I have a Mac OS X version 10.5.8 and cant run icloud or my new iPhone. I think that I need to pay to download new software, but what exactly do I need? I don't want to spend a fortune unecessarily and I don"t want to download anything that will screw up the laptop or not work....
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
Whilst Apple have withdrawn Snow Leopard from their stores, you can still get it from Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE (if you are in the USA) and they will supply the SL DVD for $20 for a single user, or $30 for a family pack that covers up to 5 Macs. You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion from the same number (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:
http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
If you are outside the US call your national Apple Helpline:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
If you're in the UK, use this number: 0871 508 4400
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
To use iCloud you have to upgrade all the way to Mountain Lion:

Audition says mic in use, but it's not - surely this is simple?
Connect Mic to Mbox
Connect MBox to Macbook via USB
No open programs on Mac
Open Audition, go to Preferences, Audio Hardware, and choose Digidesign HW (Mbox) from Default Input and press OK.
Get the message below.
Surely this is simple stuff? I can't think of which of the very small number of background processes on the mac could be using the mic??So, with my MBox 2 Pro, I can see the following information in the System Profiler:
In the Audio/MIDI Setup, I can see entries for my MBox 2 Pro unlike your screenshots with the MBox
Finally, in the System Preferences, there's items specific to the Digidesign Hardware, where I can change things like clock source:
Without having the same setup as you, the only thing I can think of right now is that <warning=entering foggy memory area> when running Pro Tools 7 itself, you can set certain options for the original MBox from within that Software. Make sure that the clock settings are internal and not something squirrely like SPDIF in. If I remember correctly, those settings can have affect how other applications talk to the Digi Hardware.</warning> -
I'm trying to send (email) photos from iPhoto. Computer says it doesn't recognize my user name or password. I've never had a problem emailing photos.....until now. Any suggestions? I'm sure it's simple but I don't know it!
CAN ANYONE HELP?? I ALSO NEED TO KNOW WHICH/WHAT TO PICK FOR MY MAIL CLIENT. I'VE TRIED THREE DIFFERENT THINGS AND NONE OF THEM WORK!Mail would be a good choice, unless you are using another email client, like Outlook. There is likely something wrong with the account setup in iPhoto. You may need to delete the account you set up and enter it again if you want to send with iPhoto instead of with Mail.
Give this a try to see what might be wrong: Drag a photo from iPhoto onto the Mail icon in the Dock. It will create a new message with the photo attached. If you click on the photo in Mail, it should show a popup menu to allow you to set the image size to send.
Check out some of the links in the More Like This section to the right. There might be some other suggestions. -
I updated to iOS7 and my deleted photos came back. How do I make sure this doesn't happen again? I want to get rid of the ones I already got rid of, but if they just keep coming back that will be a waste of time.
Can anyone help?
When I sync with itunes, the photos sections says I am syncing with my iphone, so I assume that anything I physically delete from my iphone should not be showing up again. Right?
Thanks in advance.
CM
PS- I don't use iphoto. Is that really how sync works?
If you read this, http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4236 and this http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314 they don't actually make how sync works very clear. I had thought that syncing my device to itunes would allow I tunes to copy what was currently on my phone so that I could restore that information when needed ie if your phone dies and you need to do a clean install of the iOS system, you always have what is currently on your phone saved in Itunes.
Specifically reading this:
To delete Camera Roll photos and videos from your device
There are two methods to delete items from the Camera Roll:
Import the Camera Roll to your computer and choose to delete items after import.
Delete photos and videos from your device manually:
Open the Photos application and open the Camera Roll.
Tap the Action button.
Tap each photo to select it.
Tap the Delete button.
Note: For photos and videos you want to save, import them to your computer before deleting them from the Camera Roll.
What you seem to be saying is that iTunes saves every contact, message, photo etc and when you click sync, it reuploads things that you deleted? This seems like it should work the opposite. Make a mirror image of my iPhone on my computer, not make a mirror image of my computer onto my iPhone. You delete things for a reason.
Help- anyone else? Is razmee209 right? -
My itunes is on an old computer. So old that I can't update it and so Haven't used it in two years. How can I move it to my new laptop and make sure this doesn't happen again? Very frustrated that I've spend $$ but can't get my music.
I want so set up itunes on my laptop and make sure that I get all of my old music and any music shared from my sons' itunes accounts. Do I have to set up itunes on my new laptop first and then use the same logins? Really concerned about losing any music, etc. These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have failed to move contacts and calendar items across you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

My sister and I share an itunes account so she can click on my email and receive my imessages how can I make sure this stops happening?
One of you needs to use a separate Apple ID for iCloud, FaceTime & iMessage.
The Apple ID needs to be a verified email address. Once you have an email address, that can be verified, go here & create the ID:
https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/wa/createAppleId
Then on one of the phones, turn off Contacts, Calendars, etc. for iCloud. You'll be prompted to keep the data or delete it from the phone, then turn off iMessage, FaceTime & delete the iCloud account...Settings>iCloud...scroll down...delete account. Then, setup iCloud using the new Apple ID, turn on iMessage & Facetime.
This will have no affect on the ID you both share for iTunes content, & you can continue to do so. -
I'm sure this is a setting fix, but can't find it…. All of my windows for mac programs open when I turn on my computer, such that I have to close each one individually to get to my desk top. How do I adjust so none of them open unless I choose to?
Remove the check in the box "Reopen windows when logging back in":

[NQSError:13037] cannot connect to BI security service,Please make sure this is running properly (with SSL or not) in EM.
[NQSError:37001] could not connect to the oracle BI server instance..
Kindly help me to fix this issue.Hi,
Could you access the answer side.
Could you see the reports.
Do one thing, take a back up of NQS config file from <Oracle Location>\instance\instance1\config\obiserver folder\nqsconfig.ini file.
Copy nqs config file if you have already have a back up.
Restart the services and try once.

Recent convert to Apple. Previously, I backed up my family pictures from PC to an external hard drive, a WD MyBook 3T. I can view the pics on my Macbook Pro, but I can't add new pictures. I'm sure this is a format issue, any easy way to correct it?
Install NTFS 3G
http://macntfs-3g.blogspot.com/
If you were going to be reading and writing to a NTFS System Partition, you might have to worry about the instability messing up the operating system. However, you are reading/writing from a non system, backup device so you don't have to worry about screwing up an operating system.
I would still temporarily move my data to another device and reformat the drive for Mac OS X Extended. -
Port 8080: I know this is simple, I just can't get it to work.
I'm trying something that I'm sure is relatively simple. But I just can't get it to work. I have OSX Server 10.4.10. I currently have my company site (www.example.com) hosted on it. But I'm trying to get another site hosted on it at port 8080. When I enter my company domain, www.example.com:8080, the page can't be displayed. But when I enter the IP address, such as 192.168.xxx.xxx:8080 from within my network, the correct site shows up. How can I get a website displayed at port 8080 from outside my network? I'm running DD-WRT on my router and have ports 80 and 8080 directed to the IP address of my server.
Thanks in advance for any help.Hi WiFiNetGuy-
I am a tad confused, which isn't new, but I need to get a grasp on exactly what it is that you are trying to do.
Do you have both websites (i.e. www.example1.com and www.example2.com) both pointed at the same ip address? How many unique domain names and ip addresses are we talking about?
From what you describe it sounds like a routing issue but I need more info (:>)

Hi, I hope you can help. I'm sure this is something really basic that I should be able to fix myself, but.................
I was working on a photo calendar on my macbook off the battery and the battery suddenly ran out. So it wasn't shut down properly. Now when I open i photo the coloured wheel just keeps spinning and I can't get into it. Everything else on the computer seems to work. I've done forced quit and restarted it a few times and also left it running.

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
