the login thing will only accept written passwords and i have a blank one.
If you never established a device password for the Extreme, the default is
public
If that does not work, then you will need to perform a Factory Default Reset on the AirPort Exteme to get it back to default settings and then reconfigure it again.
Might be a good idea to write down those passwords.

That will void any support from Apple. If you take the device to an Apple store you would be able to get an out of warranty replacement. A third party shop may make things worse and end up costing you more. Apple does not sell parts so all the third party shop will be able to use are parts from damaged or stolen devices. If the third party shop cannot fix the device you will have to pay full price for a replacement phone rather than the discounted price from Apple. -

Once three iCloud accounts have been created on any iOS device, it can you no longer be used to create any more accounts, regardless of what you do to it. You will need to use a computer or another iOS device to create your account and then use the details to log into your account on your phone. -

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.

If you cannot select the text at all, it may be locked, or its Group/Layer/whatever may be locked.
You can look into the Layers palette and see: locked items are shown with a padlock next to the eye to the left.
If you can select it but it shows as paths with Anchor Points, you may look for a hidden Layer or hidden objects, where the original live type may be: they are shown without the eye.
Failing that, you may ask for a file with the original live Type.
Failing that, you will have to recreate the live Type on top of the outlined Type, and you will need to know the font, or use a substitute font. -

Not sure about Utilities on your iPad. Do you mean the Settings app?
First thing to try is a reboot of your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appear. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem. -
