I'm trying to backup my apps to itunes and  there is a message on the pc screen saying I have authorised 1 computer out of an available 5. What the???????

It means that you have authorized one computer out of the limit of 5 computers that you can authorize to one itunes account.

    I am having a similiar problem.  I did not ever have the problem with Lion and my 4gen iPad.
    I allowed the Mavericks update just about the same time that AppleCare put a new Motherboard in this computer, so I don't know if either of those has anything to do with this or not? (4 year old MBP 17 dual i7)
    But now when I reboot my MBP, it tells me that this computer is not authorized to play, sync, etc.. with my iPod (or iPhone) and asks me for my password.  With I enter it, I get a message that says "This computer is already authorized".  I have 4 Apple ID's and it asks me to enter that information for every single one and then tells me that the computer is already authorized.
    How can I enter this ONCE and make it stick?

    If you have an existing ID, & you don't want to use a credit card, you'll have to redeem an iTunes gift card. If you don't want to do that, you'll have to create a new ID by following the directions here, EXACTLY:

    Connect your device to iTunes. The device should show at the top right just next to the iTunes Store button.
    Or on a Mac to View > Show Sidebar, on a PC press Ctrl+S and the device should show in the sidebar

    I'm trying to update my apps on my ipad, but when I go to updates itunes has suddenly defaulted to an old deleted email address, how can I fix this? When I go into settings on my ipad the email address is correct, it's just itunes thats causing a problem. Can someone please help, I cant access the deleted email address and when I try to answer the security questions Apple is telling me that I have entered the incorrect date of birth.....I haven't forgotten my date of birth.... this is so frustrating. What can I do?????

    Is it a different account e.g. did you update your account with a new email address or did you create a new account ? If you updated your existing account then try logging out of the account by tapping on the id at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app and then log back in and see if the updated id then shows in the Purchased tab.
    If you created a new account then all apps (and any other content) downloaded by the old account will remain tied to the old account, and only that old account can download updates to its apps (and/or redownload its purchases). If you can't remember its password, and can't get the security questions reset (you don't have a rescue email address on the account ?), then you have need to contact Support in your country to get the questions and password reset.

    If you see a dialog telling you the app is not avaiable, then it's not available.
    And keep in mind, your credit or debit card credentials must be associated with the same country where you reside.
    "Although you can browse the iTunes Store in any country without being signed in, you can only purchase content from the iTunes Store for your own country. This is enforced via the billing address associated with your credit card or other payment method that you use with the iTunes Store, rather than your actual geographic location."

  • NEED HELP! Trying to backup my iPhone to iTunes and transfer to another iPhone with more storage.

    About 2 months ago I bought a new iPhone 4 with 8gb of storage. I have since filled it up with Apps and App Data. A friend gave me his old iPhone 4 with 32gb of storage. So, I want to backup my 8gb iPhone to iTunes, have my carrier deactivate it, then activate the 32gb iPhone my friend gave me, move my number to it, and then restore my 8gb backup to the 32gb iphone.
    Here's the rub ...
    Since I have had my 8gb iPhone, I have never synced it with iTunes. I upgraded the OS to v.6 over the air and downloaded all my apps the same way. I spent a lot of time setting up my preferences and personalization’s directly on the phone itself.
    So, now that I want to back it up, when I connect it to iTunes, I get the "Welcome to Your New iPhone" screen with only two choices; one “Set up as new iPhone”, or two “Restore from this backup:” (Which currently reflects my wife’s iPhone 4 backup). ... I want to do neither ...
    I just want to plug it in, and then back it up as mentioned earlier, “without” wiping it by setting up as new or restoring my wife’s phone to it.
    Is there a way to do this in iTunes?

    If I recall "set up as new phone" shouldn't change anything on it, it just tells iTunes that you don't want to restore a backup of an older device to it. That said I haven't been there often enough to be absolutely sure.
    Sometimes it is a matter of timing... If your question drifts off the first page or two before someone who has a useful suggestion sees it then it can get missed entirely. Yesterday in particular was bad for anyone looking for immediate help but it looks like things are running more smoothly now.

  • For some reason over the past two weeks any time I tried to download an app from iTunes I keep getting an error message which says "unable to be downloaded try again later.

    Hello, Over the last few weeks I have been unable to download any new applications to my iPhone five. Every time it pops up with an error message that says "cannot download at this time try again later." I don't know if I have accidentally reset something differently or just what the problem is. We had to get bank cards as a result of the "target" security breach, however our bank shows that iTunes has "pinged" our account so I know that that part of it is working. I do not understand how the cloud where perhaps it has something to do with a conflict there.
    I am bordering on the edge of real frustration can anyone please help? Kenny V.

    There are a couple things that I would recommend trying.  Try closing all open applications and power cycle the device.  Next, go through the section labeled Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in the second article below.  If the issue persists, try completely signing out of the iTunes Store on the iOS device and sign back in.  Be sure to test downloading an application after each step.

    Can someone please help.........I am not that computer savvy, and have two applications one is an .ipa file the other a .mobileprovision file, I have been trying to import into itunes 10, but the icon is greyed out, then when I try to sync to my iphone 4 it doesnt work.

    With OS X Lion, you do have what is called a Recovery HD and it will allow you to reinstall Mac OS X. You can also use Activity Monitor to check to see if iTunes is still open in the background and you can quit it.

    Ok so i bought Classics
    I bought it; it charged my account; i watched it download in the progress bar(it may not have); it wasn't downloaded, it's not in my apps, and it's not on my ipod.
    What can i do?

    I wouldn't contact apple about the problem, it sounds like it has already been purchased, so when your computer is functioning correctly you have two choices. The first thing I would do is go to the top under the itunes toolbar and under advanced I believe there is a "check for purchases" option and if you click that if will find all of your purhcased items that have not been downloaded. If that doesn't work then you can just go back and repeat the same process you did when first purchasing the application. good luck.
    PS: PLANB77 I'm just letting you know, but usually when someone asks a question on these forums they are seeking for advice and experiences from other apple users and their trials and errors with the equpiment the questioner is interested in. I hate when people post link to apple's support pages because it's safe to say that over 75% of these people asking questions have already checked that and they are pursuing further knowledge, advice or reassurance that this product has worked for others.
