When I open iTunes it doesn't always see the device
My iPhoine will not even turn on except that it shows the cable and the iTunes logo

There are always a few problems with a new OS. Apple can't police every maker of crapware that's on the planet.
If you have a WD external drive, I would transfer (not clone) the files from it to another non-WD external drive that doesn't have crapware on it, and then erase the WD drive, and then never ever again buy a WD drive.
You will find many posts on the Apple Discussions from disgruntled narcissists (a few borderlines too) who blame Mavericks for their computer problems.
Mavericks is excellent (at least for me).
Every new OS has some incompatibilities with older software. That's why if someone is an early adopter, they should understand this, and if they have a low tolerance for frustration, or are uncomfortable with basic mac maintenance and troubleshooting, they should not be an early adopter.
Seems like the vast majority of problems that people complain about on the forums are related to crapware they have acquired on their computers from previous installations and promiscuous downloading habits. -

I was in the middle of the iOS 8 update and tried to turn my phone off (yes, I realize this was dumb) But what happened was it tried to reset. Now, my iphone 4s has the connect to itunes screen. I have tried to reset, recover, etc but I keep getting and error -51 message. Any ideas how I can get my phone working again? I am not worried about saving any info just having a phone to use!
Try a Hard Reset.....
Press and hold the Wake / Sleep button AND the Home button at the same time, keep them both pressed until the Apple Logo appears on the screen, it can take 10 or more seconds. Ignore the swipe to turn off message. -

I have tried to download 2 movies onto my iPad but I keep getting a download error message. What do I do now? I have already tried turning the iPad off and on again…still nothing.
Try closing iTunes and reset your iPad. After the iPad starts up, try the download again.
To close an app, drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the iTunes app then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
I backed up to my PC and attempted restore but I keep getting an error message that "iTunes could not restore the iPhone because not enough free space is available." I have a 32GB iPhone; only 13GB used!!! HELP! iCloud backup/restore did not work either! How can I resolve this problem to restore from back up.
If you're not a developer then you really should not have upgraded.
I'm unsure how you can fix this as you have already done a back-up on iOS 7 and apple don't support firmware downgrades. -

Keep getting an unknown error when trying to burn an itunes cd
I cannot burn a cd from my itunes. I have done all the steps correctly. I keep getting an unknown error seconds after i hit the burn disc button and my cd pops out of my disc drive. I can burn cds using real media player but I cannot burn my itunes music. What do I do?
trying to transfer over library from my old hp itunes to new powerbook. burned some of the songs onto cds as data instead of audio but once the playlist was burned it said unknown error -50. then when i put the cd in my mac the same thing came up and it wasnt recognized by itunes on the powerbook. First, turn off your CAPS lock. Typing in all CAPS is considered screaming/yelling and many will simply ignore your posting.
Are you currently having issues? Is it when trying to purchase only on the device? Are you able to complete purchases via iTunes on your computer?
