  • Imac freezes since mountain lion upgrade, i set to never sleep and then it is ok. any ideas what is going on?

This may be the same issue as some other discussions but I have a few different circumstances. I upgraded to Mountain Lion a few weeks ago and all seemed to be ok. Then I got an upgrade notice for Itunes last week and installed the update. Since then My mac started freezing after coming out of sleep mode. The mouse was active but when i selected programs from the dock the icons would just bounce and nothing would open. The only way to revive it was to do a restart with the power button. Then the system would be fine until it went into sleep mode .After reading through several disussions it seems many people are having similar issues with very few fixes to the problem. I am not very savvy on mac O/S so I am in the dark as to where to begin to troubleshoot this problem. Since the freeze ups always occur after coming out of sleep mode I set my computer to never sleep which has worked to stop the freezing but I am not sure how good it is for my system to be running all the time. I would appreciate any input on this problem. My Imac is a 2008 intel with 3 gig ram

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click  Log in.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Try setting the Energy Saver to "never" and uncheck "put hard disks to sleep when possible". You can allow the screen to sleep after any suitable time.
    Hope that helps. Regards.

Installing the appropriate combo update may help...
If you are running v10..7 Lion, install the OS X Lion Update 10.7.4 (Client Combo)
For 10.6 Snow Leopard >  Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo
Then restart your Mac. Try the App Store.
If that doesn't help, try the following..
Quit the App Store if it's open.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
    Click Go
Move the NetworkInterfaces.plist file from the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.
Relaunch the App Store and try downloading Mountain Lion.
You may also need to disable anti virus software and turn off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security (or Security & Privacy) > Firewall

  • Trying to buy Mountain Lion but

    Hi ,
I'm trying to buy Mountain Lion but I just get sent around to different pages either saying I havn't bought anything or a page saying I need to uppgrade Gagage Band, iPhoto,iMovie. So I download and install but the only thing that happens is that the change date gets changed. The program itself doesn't and I get a folder called _MACOSX but there is nothing in it that works.
I thought it was suposed to be easy to buy through App Store.
    Hmm

Thanks a lot ! Worked like a charm after I pressed the ¨buy¨ button twice (2) , Best regards Martin

  • I have tried to install Mountain Lion but it has failed to install properly

I have tried to install mountain lion but it has failed to install

If you open Finder and open your Applications folder list, under the alphabetically listed "I"'s you should see an application called "Install OS X Mountain Lion.app", if it downloaded OK.  This is the package that you double click on to begin installation of Mountain Lion.  Have you already done this?
    Hope this helps

I just tried to buy Mountain Lion but I am getting this message, yes, even after I reboot: The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.
I don't understand what this means? Is my MacBookPro too old to work with Mountain Lion?

Your Mac must be one of the following models:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)

  • Trying to down load mountain lion but will only get to 53.25mb

trying to down load mountain lion but will only get to 53.25mb

    See if this applies:
Apple has tightened its requirements for this OS upgrade, and some older Macs— even ones that qualified for Lion — won't make the cut for Mountain Lion.
The general system requirements are straightforward:
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
Apple also lists which models WILL support Mountain Lion:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
    Hope this helps

Do you see a price next to Lion ($29.99 or local equivalent)? Click that to purchase and download it. You'll have to sign in if you're not already.
Also, your profile is wrong if you don't already have Lion (which IS 10.7).

    Hi sunnylordz,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like you have no service on the iPhone. It looks like you have already done some troubleshooting. There is one step you did not mention trying that i think is worth trying.
If you see No Service in the status bar of your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
Remove the SIM card. If the SIM card is damaged, worn, or bent, or if it's too big or small for the SIM tray, contact your carrier for a new one. Then reinsert the SIM card.
    Cheers,
    Mario

  • I am trying to download icarly episodes and it does not go any further than clicking on buy season button. nothing happens when i click the button

i am trying to download icarly episodes and it does not go any further than clicking on buy season button. nothing happens when i click the button?

I would first try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Wiped hard drive and tried to reinstall Mountain Lion but it installed Lion instead.

Everything was fine except that it was going slow from 2 years worth of clutter. I wiped the hard drive and continued on with the installation instructions without noticing until now that it installed Lion instead of Mountain Lion. What do I do? If I have to reinstall, I'd rather not have to download it again. I have it on my external hard drive but it won't show up since I did all this.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You used Internet Recovery to reinstall Mac OS X, so Lion was installed instead of OS X Mountain Lion. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
To install OS X Mountain Lion, open the Mac App Store, log in with your Apple ID, go to Purchases and download OS X Mountain Lion. If you have a USB drive with Mountain Lion, you can use it to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion

  • Trying to install Mountain Lion but I get an erroneous message - can't install on this drive as it's used for time machine backup (no it isn't and never has been)

Problem installing Mountain Lion on Mac Pro 3 - currently Snow Leopard

Look at the hard drive where Applications, Library, System, and Users are. There is most likely a backup file there. Delete it.
