I keep getting a warning that i'm going to loose music / photos if i do this - can you recommend a solution?

So I just bought a used MacBook from Amazon with OSX 10.5.8. I am trying to install new software and operating system, but I don't have the passwords to the Users set up in the computer. What do I do?
Put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Reset Password. After resetting the password use Startup Disk from the same menu to choose your hard drive for startup and restart. -

iPhone 4 - tried updating with new software and now it's asking me to plug it to iTunes. The problem is that my laptop is dead. Is there anything I can do now?
I Don't know if I can turn it of or do I just leave it and take it to service?
I'd appreciate some advice!Same thing happened here ~ tech guy at a local authorized Apple repair store said it had something to do with improper backup from which the restore would be made. Still have a phone that asks to be connected to Itunes but won't do anything else . . . frustrated.

ive tried loading this new software, and step 1 and 2 were successful, but after trying to restart the loading grey screen wont stop loading?
I had a similar problem, does the phone show anything on the screen, for example "update failed, connect to computer" if it does, try opening "Sony PC Companion 2.1" click start on "support zone" then click "phone/ tablet software update" a message will pop up, press repair my phone / tablet, select your phone in the list, then follow what it says, try doing this even if the phone shows nothing, you will lose everything, all data will be gone if you follow my steps

I suggest creating a separate AppleID for iCloud for each individual and using the same one for iTunes. By having a separate one for iCloud you can keep your contacts separated, have more iCloud storage (5 gigs each instead of sharing 5 gigs) and each have your own iMessage contact. Otherwise you both will be able to see each others imessages. You can still use the same AppleID for the iTunes Store to share music and app purchases. The iPhone "Settings" has different location for inputting your iCloud and iTunes AppleID.

ok i have a advent roma laptop with window 7. my itunes used to work fine, completely. every time i plugged in my ipod it was ok. recently my ipod was not working so i never bothered with itunes, however i have movies/tv prog that i purchased and would like to view them. i have an ipod nano from about 5 years ago, the problem with thet is, it switches on, but the circular control panel does nothing, all you can do is lock and unlock it - nothing else.
i tried to download new version of itunes, then uninstalled my origonal version, incase it was corrupted etc, i then again tried to down load new version and also version that is windows 64bit. still when i select the downlaod to open as son as it is finnished nothing happens. and now my desktop shortcut has dissapeared. before when it was there, id double click it, nothing, right click to open it, nothing.

I am trying to install new software on my Imac and my keychain asks for my password, I type it in, it says it is wrong, I do it again, wrong, it gives me a hint, same one I have been using, wrong again, so I cannot get the new soft ware to download, how do I get my passwork on the keychain to work or how do I change it?
What model iMac and what version of the Mac OS is installed? "About this Mac" from the Apple menu is a good place to start.

I'm trying to download security software for my Mac Pro and it won't download. Even when I click the icon that says "if your download doesn't start click here" and still nothing happens. I have tried different types of software and nothing will download.
Are you not able to download anything at all?
I don't know what "security software" you're trying to download, but the chances are overwhelmingly good that you don't need it, and it's likely to do more harm than good. -
I need help. I would like to download Ps CC and Lr, but don't want to get involved with the cloud, but would rather save on an external hard drive. Is this possible?

What is the problem when all you get is a picture of a charging cord and the itunes logo? I tried hooking up to my computer and itunes and it said I could not download the new software while it was in recovery mode but it won't let me do anything else. Any ideas?
I hope you have a backup if you don't want to lose your iPad contents. You have to restore the iPad now using iTunes on your computer. That's what the message on the screen means.

I have a late 2008 Macbook with the 10.6.8 software. I am trying to download the new 10.9.1. I go through the app store and click download, but it does nothing. What do I need to do to get it downloaded? I am basically trying to get the new Pages downloaded (which requires the new software) so I can use it for school and have it communicate through Icloud with my IPad and IMac when needed.
