I'm trying to extend my wifi network with time capsule but it can't find the existing BT wifi network even though it is there with a good signal strength. The Time Capsule is connected to a Netgear router via ethernet.
You will need to start over on the setup of the Time Capsule as follows:
Disconnect any Ethernet cables that might be connected to the Time Capsule, but leave it powered on
Hold in the reset button on the back of the Time Capsule for 8-10 seconds and release. The reset button is located next to the AC power socket.
Allow a full minute for the Time Capsule to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
Connect the Ethernet cable from a LAN <--> port on the Netgear to the WAN "O" port on the Time Capsule. The Ethernet cable must remain connected at all times.
Click the WiFi icon at the top of the Mac's screen
Look for a setting of New AirPort Base Station
Click on Time Capsule
The example below shows an AirPort Express. You will see Time Capsule on your screen.
That will get the setup wizard going. It will take a minute to analyze the settings, then display a screen that looks like this, except you will see a picture of the Time Capsule
Network Name..........Type in the exact name that the Netgear wireless is using
Base Station.............Type in a name that you want to call the Time Capsule. Use something short and simple. Mine is TC, for example
Password..................Type in the exact password that the Netgear wireless requires
Verify.........................Verify the Password again
Click Next
The setup wizard will configure everything for you automatically. When you see the message of Setup Complete, click Done.
That's it. Now you have one big "extended" network. Technically, this is called a "roaming" network.

There is no upgrade version. The serial number that you use dictates whether or not the software is treated as an upgrade. If you purchased it as an upgrade then the serial number you have is an upgrade serial number and that will require you to provide proof that you qualify ro install/use the upgrade.

Is the issue wireless? Can you get internet via the TC?
Are you trying to access the hard disk?
Did you load the airport utility for windows..? If not please do so.. that at least is the first step. It loads bonjour for windows, and a connection agent.
Sometimes that is all that is required.
Open a windows explorer and type in the address bar
\\TCname or \\TCIPaddress .. obviously replacing the generic name with actual name or IP.
You might need to change all the names to SMB standard via the utility. Short no spaces pure alphanumeric.
You might need to fix the permissions.. ie turn on the guest account if security isn't an issue.
You might need to fix networking in the vista .. shudder.. notebook.. to ensure it is not blocking the TC. -

You will need to boot from some alternate boot device to accomplish this, if you did not initialize the drive before installing it.
If you have another Mac, you may be able to use FireWire target disk mode.
If your MacBook has a DVD reader and you have a Mac OS X Installer/Utilities DVD, such as the one that shipped with it, you can boot from that DVD, answer only the "what Language" question, and wait a quarter minute for the MenuBar to be drawn. Then examine the Utilities menu or the Installer menu and Find Disk Utility. -
I'm trying to reverb an audio clip in my timeline and I can't find the effect tab in the browser to drag to my audio clip to reverb. I can reverb the clip in the viewer but it won't drag to the timeline. I'm using FCE
You cannot drag the effects themselves to the timeline. You add them to a clip in the Viewer, just as you have done.
If the clip was already in the timeline when you opened it in the Viewer (by double-clicking it in the timeline to open it in the Viewer) and then added the reverb effect, there is nothing further to do, you have added the effect to the clip. You don't drag it back to the timeline.
You only have to drag the clip to the timeline if the clip was not already in the timeline (for example, if you opened the clip from the FCE Browser; or set different In and Out points in a master clip to use a different portion of the master clip in a different location in your timeline).
Depending on the effect you add, you may have to render the timeline after adding the effect. But I don't think reverb requires immediate rendering. One other note, you said you were working with an audio clip ... audio clips need to be AIFF (not MP3 or something else) and preferably 16-bit stereo. -

I took 3500 pictures with an iPhone 5 and a Canon Ixus camera whil on holiday in China. I downloaded them onto my MacBook every day.
Now we're back home I want to back them up onto my Windows 7 PC as it has a 1 TB HDD.
My PC and MacBook can see each other over the wi-fi network (the PC has an Ethernet connection to the wifi router) and the MacBook can copy files from the PC but not vice versa although the PC can "see" the MacBook - just not copy or transfer any files.
Also when I look for the jpegs for my holiday pics I can't find them on the MacBook though they open happily in iPhoto. When I look in my iPhoto library it seems to have (among other things) an XML file as a database but no actual jpegs. There are some jpegs on the MacBook but these are from photos I transferred from the PC before I out the 1TB HDD in.
Where are the actual photos stored and how can I transfer them to the PC over the wifi network?Selectthem in iPhoto and export to a desktop folder - see the user tip on exporting for edtails on the options available - from there it has not involvement of iPhoto - what access you have andhow you access the Mac disk is a subject for a differnt forum

Trying to Connect Wireless Epson Printer with Time Capsule
Greetings. I am a regular Mac user and using Mac for several years now. However, I am a new to network administration. I have a Linksys wireless router that syncs our 5 Macs (one iPad-1 iMac and three MacBook Pros), plus 4 Windows PC's we have in our network. I recently decided to purchase a Time Machine, and further our use of Apple technology in wireless devices. I want to back up all my computer's files to Time Machine and use the Airport Extreme functions of Time Machine while discontinuing the use of my LinkSys router. However, I can't get my Epson WorkForce 600 to wirelessly connect to Time Capsule in order to use the scanner & fax functions. Connecting the printer by USB enables the printer function, but disables all other functions of the printer (fax-scan, etc.).
I tried downloading new Epson drivers and couldn't get some of them to install. This time My iMac wouldn't install the .dmg files. I tried opening the .dmg file and installing. The pop up box requiring my administrator password, kept flashing when I tried to enter my password. Since I couldn't get the .dmg files to install, my plan to update Epson driver's didn't work. Question #1: I am looking for advice how to install these weird disk image files ?
I turned off my Time Capsule, re-connected the LinkSys to the cable modem and all my wireless functions work again, especially my printer. Sadly, no Time Capsule.
I read another discussion suggestion connecting both wireless devices together. I assume since I want to use Time Capsule that I set it up with the modem and connect the other router to it via one of the four ethernet connections. I didn't want to try this until I received further advice. I am hoping I can connect my LinkSys router to Time Capsule and use the printer through the LinkSys connection with all other computers on my network.
Question #2: How can I get my Time Capsule to find the Epson so I can use it again, or should I just use the LinkSys router connected to the printer?
Thank you in advance for help.This sounds as if you are trying to use instructions that are more than 2 years old at this point, but you are using a new version of AirPort Utility Utility in Lion or Mountain Lion....which would not track or apply to the older instructions.
Can you confirm what operating system that you are using on the Mac that is being used to configure devices?
The new AirPort Express will connect directly to the Time Capsule using an Ethernet connection, correct? -

How/where can I update this card to mt credit card instead of my debit card?

i have been a pc user for many years, and recently upgraded to a macbook pro, when i go to the site and click browse my only options are macintosh HD and users, i cant find disk drive and when i search for the copy i put on HD i cant find it....very frustrating

I was able to restore my backup from my time machine ext drive to a new 1tb seagate ext drive. so i felt sort of ok. but yesterday that older ext drive i used for time machine wouldn't open! i called applecare and they trouble shooted with me and said it's probably a goner and data is probably corrupted. it's only a few years old and i'm very careful with it. my husband accidentally dropped my new drive last night -- i know, unbelievable, i was SO upset, poor guy -- but I'm so stressed with all of this. i have 10 years of photos and videos. so now i only have the one newer drive with a backup. i have to buy another one today to backup again so i at least have two backups. i tried to delete a ton of files last night to free up the 30 gb of space i need to get my full library back on my mac. i have 90gb free and deleted 7 years worth of photos i had on picasa that were in my "pictures" folder and also a ton or random photos and videos i had in that same pictures folder and thought that would give me the 30 gb but it hardly freed up any space at all! do you know why that is? all of this stuff is really a pain and really stressful. thank god i did have a backup in the first place but now i am panicked the one i have left will somehow crash. especially after my husband dropped the drive lastnight! it didn't fall far and fell onto a wood floor and seems fine, but after my older ext drive crashed yesterday -- and i lost my entire iphoto library a fewweeks ago off my mac -- i feel cursed. any answers you have would be great. thank you.

Quite the trial to sign in to freaking Apple support. I apparently made an account with my primary e-mail, but damned if I can recover the password, apparently I don't know my own birthday. So I had to make a new account with another e-mail, and even when I thought it was done, no, I had to fill out more information before I could get to this screen. You won't let me ask for tech support from your message board without my mailing address? Then my completely inoccuous user name was rejected for containing banned words. Lemurs and cats are profane now, what? This is why I hate computers.
Anyway, I've got Mac OS X 4.something, can't check because it is shut down, and I already described my problem in the subject there before I got dragged back into account creation. I searched several places for answers but all I can find are discussions about double beeping at startup (even when excluding the word "startup" from search results), while my double beeping started all of a sudden when the computer was in use. The beeps were certainly less than a minute apart. What happened? What do I need to do about it? Is it safe to start the computer up again? Fortunately my files are pretty much all backed up.I don't know if we are experiencing the same problem, but this is what I did and it seemed to work for me so far.
Before anything I had to hard restart my laptop. hold power button until off then turn back on.
In Finder click on Go, then click Go to Folder. in the dialogue box type
/var/db/crls
In that folder there are two files that you need to move to the trash
crlcache.db
ocspcache.db
You will need to type in your password to move these to the trash.
Restart your computer and then Empty the Trash. It is very important that you empty the trash afterwards. I forgot to do this the first time and I had to restart the whole process. It has been a few days and I have been without any problems.
I am not claiming this process to be my own, I found it on another discussion thread and it worked for me. I don't have a link to it because I had to use someone else's computer and had no luck trying to find it again. This is the procedure I followed, I do remember it well and I wrote down the steps because I had to do it twice and got tired of combing through all of the websites I have searched looking for a fix to my problem. Hopefully this helps, and try it at your own risk of course.

Trying to restore, but iTunes can't find the iPod software
iTunes tells me my iPod is "corrupted" and needs to be re-set to factory settings. When I click the "Restore" button, I get an iTunes error box that says "There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod "iPod". The requested resources was not found". I don't know what to do from here.
I've been through lots of different steps. First, my PC wouldn't even recognize the iPod. So, I changed the settings to get around the hub being automatically powered down. Now the computer recognizes the iPod and iTunes tries to connect to it, but says it has detected a corrupted iPod.
The iPod was working fine a few weeks ago, but when the iPod froze up, my son tried to re-set it and ended up erasing everyting. It has been stuck in this mode ever since then.
Help!I was able to find an answer by looking at a reply to another user's question. The first step (described in my first posting) was to get Windows to recognize the "corrupted" iPod as a drive. This require me to make a change in the device manager for Windows. Here's the article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301343 This fixed the first problem so that Windows started recognizing the iPod as an unidentified drive.
Next, I needed to reformat the drive. This is where the help from the other posting came in handy. I had to go into "My Computer" and select the iPod "drive". Then, I clicked on "File" and "Format". I deselected both quick format and enable compression and let Windows reformat the drive. After this, iTunes was able to recognize the drive the next time I opened the program. iTunes then prompted me to restore the drive to factory settings and it worked perfectly. I hope this will be helpful to someone else. Good luck! -
