I'm trying to get new apps on my iPod Touch

I updated the software and updated iTunes.
But when I click on the Apps tab in iTunes for my device, I see the Apps I downloaded but I cannot check them to sync with my iPod.  They are unavailable.  I'm using Windows 7 if that makes any difference.
Any suggestions?

On your iPod Touch head to Settings -> General -> Restrictions and make sure either all restrictions are off or that at least Installing Apps is Off.
Any luck there?

  • Unable to get new Apps after purchasing iPod Touch app update

I know this is a frequent topic but I can't help but feel my situation is a little different to others I've read.
After purchasing the app update the new apps failed to appear. I also had a USB port problem at the time that prevent a correct sync - after switching ports everything is fine again - except for the new apps.
On each subsequent sync itunes attempts to sync the new apps but instead I get :
    "Unknown error occurred 0xE8000001"
The only problem is the apps though, any new music, podcasts, movies etc are synced without a problem.
From reading other posts on similar topics I have seen (and tried) the following :
Do a restore - tried more times than I can count.
Make sure you are running up to date iTunes and iPod software - done and done - 7.6 and 1.1.3.
Try a different USB port - I have 8 USB 2.0 ports available (4 sets of 2) none have helped. Neither did my powered USB2 hub. Neither does unplugging everything but the mouse and keyboard. The ports work fine for everything else; mouse, keyboard, gaming claw, ext hard drive (with the exception of the bad one).
Switch off manual management and resync - no help.
Uncheck the checked items only option - no help.
Out of desparation I tried to restore and buy the update again on my MacBookPro but the iTunes store prevented the purchase as I already had it.
I have read that when this error occurs it generally seems to be related to USB power but in those cases it usually means the iPod is not being recognised by iTunes - and I am not having that problem.
Any suggestions anyone can provide would be most appreciated.

I managed to fix this one out by copy the app enabling file (iPod tiuch App Pack 4A93) to the corresponding directory (\iTunes\Mobile Applications) on the Mac and doing an 'erase and sync'.
The apps were promptly synced to the iPod and remained when I resynced on the XP machine.
I noticed this one got a few readers but no responses - has anyone else had the same problem? If you are, I suspect you may be able to get the same result by copying the file and syncing on another PC.

I'm trying to update an app on my iPod touch but it says that it's unable to download the application at this time. I've tried everything what else can I do to fix this problem??

Try going to Settings>Store and sign out and sign back in.
It also could be due to an Apple server problem. and yu will just have to wait and try again.

  • I am trying to download an app for my ipod touch, but its not showing up in the app store. Its the icess app for controlling a bluetooth helicopter

I recently got my daughter an iCess RC helicopter. It works via bluetooth and can be used with Apple and Android devices. She has a ipod touch, but when trying to do a search for "iCess" in the app store, nothing comes up. It shows up on my PC in the itunes store, but how do I get it on the ipod touch or its apps store?
Also having the same problem when trying to locate the app with my iPad and its app store. I got it installed on one of my android devices via the Google Play store so I know its there & works. Any ideas or suggestion on what is going on here with the iPod and iPad app stores?

The RC helicopter's directions say its available in the App store for Apple and here it is in the iTunes store:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/icess/id558793179?mt=8 (released on 6/19/2013)
How do I get this to show up on my iPad and/or iPod touch app stores so I can then download and install it as needed?

  • Total rookie trying to get on-line with my ipod touch.

Ok... I just got a new ipod touch for my family and have no idea what is happening when I try to go on-line.
Whenever we try to go to a web site we are asked to select a wi-fi network. When we choose on, we are asked for a password or to join. I have no idea what to do from here?? as I said, we are absolute rookies here?
    Any help would be great!!

    Welcome aboard!
When you see a list of WiFi networks, you'll see some of them have a little lock symbol next to their names, and others do not have that symbol. The ones with a lock are the ones that have been password protected by their owners. Unless you know the password, you won't be able to get onto those networks.
Instead you should look for and choose the ones without a lock symbol. Those are the ones that are not password protected and therefore will allow access by your Touch. It might not work all the time (maybe there are configuration issues with that network), but it will usually work.
However, if the open network is one that is pay-to-use (such as at an airport or at a cafe), it will seem like it lets you onto the network, and yet you cannot get Weather to work or anything else. If that happens, try starting up Safari. Try to go to a web site. If your destination gets hijacked by a login page, then you know this is a network that requires you to log in (and perhaps pay) before you can use it. For example, I was in two different airports last week. In one I got access but it was pay-to-play. In the other one, it also popped up a login screen on Safari, but it was just to have me acknowledge that they were providing free access. Once I clicked to acknowledge, I was online without any problem.
In summary, you have four different scenarios with WiFi:
    1. None in your immediate area. You aren't going online.
    2. Ones with locks. Unless you know the password, you aren't using them.
    3. Ones with no locks, but they create a splash screen in Safari. Maybe they want money to use, maybe they don't. Give 'em a shot and see.
    4. Ones with no locks and no barriers to entry. You can go online with them unless there are some odd configuration issues.

  • How do I get an app into the ipod touch?

I downloaded the ibooks app and it's in my itunes application library. I've synched several times, but the application is not being installed on my ipod touch (2nd generation, ios4.2). What do I need to do to get this installed?

In the Apps pane for the iPod in iTunes do  you have the iBooks app checked so it will sync to the iPod?
Yu can also redownload the app directly to the iPod via the Store app.

  • Getting Purchased Apps after Restoring Ipod touch

I purchased apps previously but had to restore my ipod touch. After I restored it the apps and music I purchased through itunes was no longer there, and when I went back to them it tried to make me pay for them again. How do I re-download apps and music I already purchased without purchasing them again?

According to the iPod Touch User manual which you can find here:
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPod_touch_iOS4_UserGuide.pdf
    To replace a deleted application:
On iPod touch: Purchase the app again (you won’t be charged).
In iTunes: Connect iPod touch to your computer, select iPod touch in the Devices list,
click Apps and select the checkbox next to the app, then click Apply.

  • Trying to get some data back on iPod touch

I reccently had to restore my ipod due to the fact that i forgot the password. I redownloaded an app and it had the old data from a while ago, like it hasnt been updated. I have iCloud though so im thinking maybe it can restore the reccent data. If I hit the "back up now" button in iCloud, on my ipod touch, will it restore the old data since im pretty sure it was one of the backed up apps or will it save the data that's technically old. I guess you can say im confused on what backing up something actually means....

No. If you tap the back up now, the iPod will backup to iCloud overwriting the previous backup. Yu need to restoe the iPod from the iCloud backup. Yu can do that by going to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings.  Then on the iPod select restore from iCloud backup.  The iPod should be connected to a power source since ther is alot of stuff to download,

Hi there, when I was trying to purchase an app on my iPod touch it asked me to answer sequroty questions which I did not know the answer to. So now I am not ble to get any apps on the iPod from the app store which is very annoying.  This is a must and needs to resolved ASAP. Thanks :)

It will take longer to charge the 5G's battery than either the 3G or 4G's battery.

  • How do I get my music off my iPod Touch?

I had a virus and had to delete all the data on my computer. I am now setting iTunes up again and I tried to get my songs off my iPod touch. It transfered only a small portion of my music, only the songs I had purchased in the past few months or so. I am authorized on this computer, and the few songs I got by trying to sync the songs off my ipod. How do I get my music off my iPod so I can listen to it on my computer?

You'll likely need the assistance of some third party software to help you recover the non-iTunes purchased music.  See this older thread for a few possibilities.
