I'm trying to see my photos in aperture from a Nikon D7100.

Modern software, modern camera right?  What the **** is the issue apple?  I just see a clock icon by the camera and nothing gets imported when i go to import files? I'm overseas at the moment and would love to share my photos via Flickr.  Shouldn't this be easy?  Aperture version is 3.2.2 and Camera is brand new, Mac OS is 10.7.5.

Unfortunately after i downloaded this and tried to unpack it, i got a message stating i had to do any updates through the App store.
Then your Aperture version is an AppStore version?  Then you can only update by updating to Mavericks first. But don't do that without checking the compatibility of the applications that are important you and making a full backup of your mac, so you can resore the current system, if need be.
Some of the photos are RAW and some are JPEG.  Aperture doesn't seem to show any of them at this point.
It is clear, why your RAW files cannot be developed by Aperture, but Aperture shoul import the files nevertheless, only display them as black thumbnails. And your jpegs should import. Do your import settings exclude file types?  How is your camera connected? Are you using a card reader?

I can't see .NEF files in finder from mi NIkon D7100. Helllp !!!!!
I can open NEF files in Camera Raw but Im not seeing tumbs in finder !
Also I cant see them in preview too.

Well, I don't know what the problem actually is in the first place, it should work as is, I think something is messed up with the present driver and replacing it would perhaps get around that problem.
It seems like I'd be adding one more layer of complexity to the Vista machine...
Not sure how the Vista machine is involved in this, since these are drivers for the Mac.
Though to involve the Vista Machine, One option not mentioned yet is MacDrive for you PCs... allows them to Read/Write HFS+...

  • Can't see iCloud photos in aperture

Upgraded to Yosemite but now I can't see the photo's I've shared or the one my family have shared via iCloud in aperture. My photo stream is still visible though.
    Any Ideas??

    No.
It's odd because I updated an old iPad the other day and all the shared streams came up on it. All be it very slowly.

  • How do see my photos in Dropbox from Iphoto on my iPad?

I store all our family photos on Dropbox so we can access them from everywhere (8Gb in total).  I have iPhoto on my iPad but it doesn't let me choose a folder in Dropbox as my default library?  You can do it from an iMac but I can see the choice from the iPad.

Easy - Using the export command - file menu ==> export
For video you must export using the Kind = original options
see Exporting From iPhoto for detail on the various options available during export
For any more information you actually have to share information with us including the version of iPhoto and of the OS - any exact error messages, descriptions of failures or unexpected results - and recent changes

  • 2 drives...how do I see all photos at once from both on one library page?

I have 2 internal drives. I ran out of room on my primary internal drive, and put new photographs (and moved a few more) for the same project on the secondary drive.
I could not choose to browse the second drive for lightroom unless I made the second drive a distinct catalogue (I am sure this is a mistake on my part).
    My questions are:
    1) how do I see the second drive on the left side panel without having to log out of lightroom and log back in
    2) Can I have photos from one project spread over two drives, yet see them all at the same time in the library mode?
    3) when I moved photos to the secondary drive, i lost all the metadata. I did not see a choice to export the key words attached to each photo. What did I do wrong?
    Thank you,
    Allan

    1) and 3) It all depends how the pictures are and were organized. The optimum would be if the pictures you moved were in just one folder with subfolders. Then all you have to do is point LR to the new topfolder and it should find the rest.
If this is not the case you will have to point LR to all the folders you moved. If you split your folders then it's a matter of pointing LR to each picture. At this point maybe you could consider moving the pictures back and make a new try.

  • HT201317 issues seeing all photos when transfering from iphone5 to pc/mac

I'm having issues transferring photos from my iphone5 to pc/mac. I have over 200 photos on my phone however when I go to transfer only the last 20 or so photos are visible to transfer. why is this the case? it was working ok before now I cannot access all my photos from the computer. please help!

Whenever you plug in your iPhone to your Mac with iPhoto installed, iPhoto will automatically open up a screen giving you the option to download the photos in your iPhone...At least that's how it's set up in my computer. But I believe that's for photos taken by the iPhone.
Besides what said above, there is a iPhone Transfer Column which includes the tutorial about How to transfer photo/pictures from iPhone to Mac.
Hope it can do you a favor.
I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link.

  • I can no longer import photos to Aperture from my camera...

...because when I plug my camera into the usb port it doesnt show up in the Import screen, even though my camera is flashing "busy", I've only had aperture a few weeks, but I havent had this problem before.
    what do I do?

I feel pretty strongly that camera-to-Aperture handling of original images puts originals at unnecessary risk. I suggest this workflow, first using the Finder (not Aperture) to copy images from CF card to computer hard drive:
    • Remove the CF card from the camera and insert it into a CF card reader. Faster readers and faster cards are preferable, and Firewire is much preferable to USB2.
    • Finder-copy images from CF to a labeled folder on the intended permanent Masters location hard drive.
    • Eject CF.
    • Burn DVD copies of the original images (optional backup step).
    • Eject DVDs (optional backup step).
    • From within Aperture, import images from the hard drive folder into Aperture selecting "Store files in their current location."
    • Review pix for completeness (e.g. a 500-pic shoot has 500 valid images showing).
    • Reformat CF in camera, and archive hard drive or DVDs of originals off site.
Note that the "eject" steps above are important in order to avoid mistakenly working on removable media.

  • I am trying to download my photos from my iphone to my mac-iphoto. It keeps trying but about halfway through it says there is an error with a photo therefore it wont download any of my pictures or videos.  It wont tell me which picture is the issue.

I took a lot of pictures and video on my recent trip to Ireland.  Now I am trying to download the photos and videos from my iphone to my mac - iphoto.  I have tried 3 times and each time (at a different point) I get a message telling me that there was an error with one of my photos and it wont load the pictures.  Help!!

Try using Image Capture to download to a folder on the Desktop.  If there's a damaged file on the iPhone that's preventing the download you can isolate it with Image Capture and then delete it from the iPhone.

  • LR4.4 photos won't import nikon d7100

I have updated LR 4.4.1 and cannot import my photos from my Nikon d7100.  They are in .NEF format.  I am using the new iMAC 2.7ghz.  I am the "managed user" and my wife is the admin user.  Neither of us can import the photos, therefore, it is not a permission issue.  I have called mac and they have done all they can do.  It now seems like it is an adobe issue.  I am trying to import from the sd card.  I can see the images, up to about 50 images, but when I say import, it runs through the process to finally tell me that the import was unsuccessful.
    HELP!!!!!

Have the files or SD card ever been used in Nikon Transfer or other Nikon software? There is a known issue where the files from the D7100 are used in older versions of Nikon Transfer that shipped with an earlier camera model.
I have no problem importing into LR4.4 (see image below) but I first copied the file to a folder on my hard drive and in LR used Import >> Add
You could try shooting a fresh NEF and copying straight to the hard drive to see if that makes any difference.

  • Vertical format photos from a nikon D90 distort in iphoto 11

Vertical format photos when downloaded from a Nikon D90 SD card become distorted when Iphoto editor is opened.  It seems the software is attemting to view them in landscpe format.  I have gone through all the programs to fix iphoto with the option command keys when iphoto is launched but the problem persists.  It seems to have started from an update in June 2012.  I can rescue the photos by taking them out of iphoto onto the desktop and then importing them back into iphoto, and deleting the original photo.   When I do this the photo no longer distort.  Does anybody have any suggestions?

I've not seen this. But try doing an edit on one and then reverting to original

  • Unable to import photos in Aperture after iPhoto last update 9.6.1

    Hi,
I have no clue if it's related, but after iPhoto last update to 9.6.1, I'm no more able to import photos in Aperture from my Pentax K-50.
Spinning wheel and after that, I get the message that no pictures were imported.
Everything was going fine until that iPhoto update!
Sometimes, it will import 1 picture and then Aperture will crash, saying that it was impossible to import pictures.
I formatted my SD card, but same result.
Any idea why this is happening?
    Thanks
