  • I tried updating my iPod 5th gen to iOS 8 but it only shows me a picture of the iTunes logo and a charger at the bottom, I'm not sure what this means or what I need to do. Can someone please help me?

I tried updating my iPod 5th gen to iOS 8 but it only shows me a picture of the iTunes logo and a charger at the bottom, I'm not sure what this means or what I need to do. Can someone please help me?

After restoring to factory settings/new iPod you will then have to restore from backup
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • How do I update my iPod 3rd generation to iOS 5 so I can get iCloud

How do I update my iPod 3rd generation to iOS 5 so I can get iCloud? My MacBook is out of commission right now so I can't do it that way and I have a thousand songs on my iPod I would like to put on iCloud to transfer to my iPad. How can I make this happen?

Are you sure you really do not have a 2G iPod? Those can only go to 4.2.1

  • Why can't I see reviews for app updates on iPad 3rd gen since iOS 7 update?

Why can't I see reviews for app updates on iPad 3rd gen since iOS 7 update?

AAfter an hour with Apple chat, I figured out what to do on my own.  When the iPhone and iPad go to autolock, press home key and do not open- streaming will be on the screen and I turned it back on.  No more stops.

Today, i attempted to update my iPod (4th Gen) to iOS 6 on my computer. When it was updating it came up with an error, it then asked me to restore my iPod which i did. During this process it came up with another error. Now, everytime I turn on my iPod, it asks me to connect to iTunes. When i do this, it connects to the computer but doesnt show up in iTunes. How do i fix this?

    Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software.

  • I tried to update my ipod 4th gen. but when I came to see how much charge the screen was red and it wasnt charged and i cant use my ipod. the screen turned blue also one time, and now the apple logo comes up and its bright then dim and it stays there help

I tried to update my iPod 4th generation while it was charging and when I came back to check on it the screen was red and it wouldnt go off, and my ipod wasnt charging like it was supposed to. I found out how to get the color of the screen off but my ipod always has the low battery thing and when I charge it sometimes the screen turns blue or the apple logo comes up bright and then it gets dim and stays there. My ipod wont turn on, and I really want it to work again. Help me please! Also, I noticed my ipod battery hasnt been lasting long as it should efore this happened.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • I'm trying to update my ipod touch gen 2

im trying to update my ipod 2 gen

The Settings>General>Software Update comes with iOS 5 and later.
Connect the iPod to your computer and update via iTunes as far as your iPod model allows
iOS: How to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
A 2G to 4.2.1. Requires iTunes version 10.X. If a Mac it requires OSX 10.5.8 or later. With OSX 10.4.11 you could only go to iTunes 9.X which gets you as high as iOS 4.1

    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem

  • TS3694 is there a way to update the ipod 3rd gen higher than 4.2.1?

I have tried and tried to update my daughter's ipod, and it will not update past 4.2.1! Does anyone out there know a way? My daughter is very frustrated because EVERYTHING she wants to download requires 4.3 or higher.  GRRR. Thank you!

A 3G can go to iOS 5.1.1. However, some users think thay have a 3G when they really have a 2G. A 2G can only go to 4.2.1

  • Error in updating my ipad 3rd gen to IOS 6.0.1

i tried updating my ipad to IOS6.0.1 but after an hour or 2 a pop up mesaage says it encountered an error. was seems to be the problem with this?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. For the iPad Mini the iOS is 6.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

  • I was trying to update my ipod to the latest iOS version (5.1) but I got a notification that the update had failed. It was still functioning normally until a while later when it stopped working and all that is displayed on the screen is the itunes logo

and a USB. I tried resetting it severally by pressing the sleep & home button but that didn't help. I also uninstalled all my itunes related programs and reinstalled them but I'm still yet to fix the problem. Whenever I connect the ipod to my computer, windows seems to pick up on new hardware having been connected but you can't view the files on the ipod through itunes or my computer. The computer acknowledges that something has been connected but for some reason the ipod ain't being recognised.
ps- All I want to do is solve this problem so I don't mind losing all the files I had on the ipod as it wasn't much anyway.

Did you try removing and reinstalling all the Apple software using:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
