I'm trying to update VS to Update 5 CTP 2. Update then crashes.

I'm downloading the update from the
VS website.
I'm then shown this.
"Setup detected an issue during the operation. Please click below to check for a solution and help us improve the setup experience. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is
available."
So it doesn't give me an error really. I know this isn't much to work on, but I'm just trying to update it so I can run my program on my laptop.

According to your description, I am afraid there is not enough information to detect the issue. Please try to disable any other third part product when you install the update. If the error also
occurs, try to use http://aka.ms/vscollect

Tried the Update - Still crashes my presets

I have a few preset actions I recorded, setting the line screen, converting to CMYK, etc. I re-set them up in CS4. No matter which one I click on and then hit the "proceed" button, it crashes the program instantly. Installed the update but no change. I edit and silhouette hundreds of RAW photos a month and I need these preset shortcuts. Back to S2..................

I think the title says it all. Sync error and all info lost. Now disc write error when trying to recover/restore.

Might be a damaged backup file. To find out, locate your backup folder and copy the whole folder to a safe place.
Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
After that delete the latest backup in iTunes/Preferences/Devices and try again to restore. You may have to connect in recovery mode to restore iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to restore

Updater keeps telling me to update-then crashes iPod

When I plug in my iPod mini, I get an update to 1.4 message. I click OK. It runs...then my Mini disappears from iTunes. But it still says do not disconnect. I quit iTunes. Then my Mini shows a folder with an exclamation mark. I restart iTunes, the mini appears again-and so does the updater. I say OK to the updater, and the whole problem repeats.
I don't know what to do. Help please.

I came to that conclusion as well and tried it. But more importantly (for anyone else who may have done this) I had my Mini connected via firewire. Normally not a problem. I have a 30GB iPod as well and I use it for that. However, when I tried connecting my Mini via USB. all worked well. I put a piece of tape over my firewire-pod cable with a note to self...don't use for Mini!

Itunes starting, updating, then crashing

Every time I try to open itunes, it opens and a thinking bar pops up saying "updating library" and then it says itunes encountered a problem and needs to close. ive tried to repair and reinstall it, and the same problem occurs. any suggestions?

That sounds like a library file or content file issue, halfpipe. There's information on how to troubleshoot those issues in the "user specific troubleshooting" section of the following document:

If there is no backup of the device to iCloud or iTunes and the device has gone into recovery mode when trying to update, then the data is gone. If the device was connected to iTunes to do the update originally, it is possible the default backup was done, unless your son disabled it. To check to see if there is a backup, go in iTunes, click on Edit, Preferences, Devices and see if there is a backup listed for the date/time before the update was started. If he was doing the update OTA on the phone, then there is no backup. No backup, no photos.

I am trying to update the iPhone for my grandmother, Judy, as I am leaving for Paris on Wednesday night and we want to have Facetime installed on her iPhone before then, so we can stay in contact with each other. I am unable to open raw files taken on my Canon Rebel T1i in my version of Photoshop CS3. When I import raw files into Bridge they come up as patches with CR2 on them and when clicked on, a notice comes up stating that Photoshop does not recognize these files. I tried to update my Adobe Camera Raw by downloading version 4.6 from the Adobe Website, but when I clicked on the plus-in, I got another message that Photoshop does not recognize this file. I spoke with a representative from Canon who said that I could not update CS3 and that I should subscribe to the Cloud. I would prefer to use my CS3, if possible. Can anyone advise me what to do?

I have a iphone I do not use as a phone anymore. I use the apps and the music on it though. I downloaded itunes and I am trying to update the phone so I can purchase music and apps for it. From my experience, the only way you're gonna get a PC afflicted with this disease to work with a 5th gen nano is to roll back to an earlier version of iTunes. Those affected have been exhausted by this ongoing issue. To update or not to update? And I always say never update unless you have to, and turn off all that auto update mess!
I have two core2duo lappies running 32b vista. My workflow dictates 32b fyi. One is acer aspire running itunes v 11.1 (.0.126), 5th gen nano was originally formatted and works just fine on this machine to this day. My other is the bigger badder lenovo thinkpad and the 5th gen will NOT mount using any version of itunes past 11.0 (.1.12) Windows mounts it just fine. itunes is not having it. no shirt no shoes no service.
I have both a 4th and 5th gen nano. The 4th gen works great on both machines, I even successfully tested it with the latest version (11.1.5) before subsequent deletion on the thinkpad! Weird huh? I think my next experiment might be to restore my 5th gen w/ a Mac and theeeeen plug it into PC itunez.
I'm at a loss on the thinkpad. Scanned for intruders. Cut the Lenovo bloat. Executed system and reg maintenance. Took down msconfig to a safe mode + itunes level to attempt to resolve possible sw conflicts but to no avail. NO NO NO. Every single dang port, every time on the thinkpad. Has me feeling like others might get the same treatment by the next itunes update. :|
So in summary for me:
5th gen nano and thinkpad are a NoGo on 11.1^ last working version for me = 11.0.1
5th gen nano is working on an acer aspire 11.1.0 but no way in the world am I updating
4th gen nano is kicking 5th gen nano's @zz so what would make me want to buy a new ipod?

When every my ipod is trying to update I get the error message "attempting to copy to the disk "**** ipod" failed the disk could not be read from or written to." What do I do?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

I want to know if I can backup my Ipad to an external harddrive. I have a pc with xp pro media edition and a partitioned hard drive with very little space on C and lots on D. I am trying to update my Ipad to 5.1.1 and it says it needs 12 gb to backup.

I have a Sony Vaio desktop PC with a partitioned hard drive, running Windows XP Pro. There is 13 gb on C drive with the OS, and 140 gb left on D drive. I am trying to update my Original Ipad from 4.3.4 to 5.1.1 and because C drive is full ( I have moved everything that can be moved to D drive) mostly from Microsoft updates over the years, I am unable to do the backup Itunes is telling me I have to do to update or lose all media on this iPad. 12.67 gb is required to do the backup and I have a whopping 965.2 MB. I can not get the cloud to use as backup as it requires 5.0 or better. Does anyone know if I can back up to D drive, and if so how? Also, I have a 1 terrabyte WD mini external hard drive I just got as a gift...could I do the backup to it and, again, if so, how? Please explain from start to finish, as my brain is now fried from, first from finally getting Itunes updated to 10.6 ,and now trying to do this update. Thanks to anyone for their help!!
