I'm trying to upload some pics from a disc that was made on a newer imac...
My sister has a newer imac than me and so has a newer version of iphoto on her computer. She made a disc with pictures on it for me and I'm trying to put those pictures in my iphoto and it says:
You can't open your current photo library using this version of iphoto.
You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto.
How do I get my pictures on my computer short of buying the newest ilife?
Go back to your sister and get her to burn the disk not using the Share -> Burn command.
Instead she should simply select the pics in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pics to a folder on the desktop. Then she can burn that folder of images to CD and you'll have no problems importing.
Alternatively, look at that disk in the Finder. On it you will see the iPhoto Library icon. Right-click (or Control-Click) on it and from the resulting menu select 'Show Package Contents'.
A Finder window will open with the Library exposed. You'll see a Folder called Originals. The best thing to do is import from that Originals folder. But these pics will not be edited.

View Solution.Yes our recovery disks will return your unit to the factory state. All the software that came with the unit will be reinstalled. Whatever you added you will have to reinstall.

I was trying to upload photos from the disc off a digital onto my MacPro to place in my iphotos and ultimately put some on facebook. My iphotos wouldnt open up. I seems to be stuck. I am not very electronically savy. Can anyone tell me an easy way to get my iphotos unstuck. Rebooting the computer did not work. thanks,

I had an iPhone 3GS unning whatever the latest proper version of iOS currently is at the time of writing (4.3.5, is it?) but on Saturday I was on a rather drunken night out and I lost my phone.
Silly me.
But I was out of contract and the new iPhone (4S or 5 or whatever) is going to be announced on Tuesday next week (just been confirmed by Apple today) so I'm just going to make do with an old, spare Nokia until the new iPhone is available in the UK.
Once the new iPhone launches I will buy it, plug it into iTunes and just restore from backup and I'm back in business.
Except for one thing... The new iPhone will have iOS 5 installed and my last backup before I lost my 3GS was done on iOS 4.3.5.
Is this going to be a problem or can you restore from a backup made with an older version of the OS?
I've never done it before so I don't know.
JYou "should" have no problem doing that. I say should, because you can't restore a backup made with a higher iOS on a device running a lower iOS, I.E. - you can't restore a backup made from a device running, let's say iOS 4.3.5 on a device running iOS 4.2.10. However, iOS 5.0 will present many new features and since it has not been released, I have no way of stating with certainty that doing as you plan will not present any problems. Past history indicates it won't, but we'll have to wait & see.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
The difficulty in restoring iCloud data from a back up is that the back up is older than the current version on iCloud and anything that is restored gets removed again when an iCloud sync occurs.
Ensure the device is connected to your local network.
Start the restore from iCloud back up.
Allow the devices settings to restore (watch for the confirmation of completion).
As the apps begin to restore pull the connection to your router WAN port (the one that goes to the telephone point).
Wait for the time out confirmation.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn off contact syncing (keep contacts when prompted).
Reconnect the router to the internet and let the restore process complete.
Delete any iCloud contacts from iCloud.com on a computer.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn on contact syncing (merge contacts when prompted).
May I suggest that you carry out a back up to iTunes before you try anything, that way should things become even worse, you can at least restore back to where you are now. -
Before I downloaded Lion every time I would upload a pic from iphoto there would be two files. One that was 1.8MB and another that was 50KB. Now I can only find the 1.8MB one. Did this option disappear with Lion? I really need this option!

When you would "import" what?
two files would show up in "images".
Do you mean in the All Images search in the Finder?
IF so:
1.Never interact with photos that are in iPhoto via the All Images Search. This does not understand the iPhoto Library and it's very, very easy to damage the library this way.
2. What you were seeing was the original file you imported and the thumbnail created by iPhoto for viewing on the iPhoto Window. That thumbnail is not designed for user access.
What are you trying to do ultimately?

Uploading my pics from Photoshop Elements 11
I am trying to order albums of the pics I took and edited in Photoshop Elements 11 at Walmart.com. I am not able to upload my pics from Photoshop but I am able to upload from my other pics and libraries on my computer. Is there a way to to upload them? Thank you!
Select the thumbnails in Organizer and from the menu use:
File >> Export As New
Make a new folder for the export copies and then you can upload them in one batch to Walmart via your web browser. -
I loaded some pics from my SD card and then I loaded some from my iPhone. But I am unable to see the pics from my SDcard in iPhotos.
I think it is 7.1.1 - there was another update today which I've uploaded but it didn't make any difference. It's just the music libary on the 5 that's causing me problems.

I am trying to burn some cds from my playlist on itunes, but my playlist shows many of my songs in light print and says that it will not burn because it is not a file, these are all songs I have purchased quite a while ago, how do i get them to files?
If they were songs you purchased from itunes, try redownloading them from your purchases...
if that doednt work, make sure the optuon to copy files to itunes media folder is checked in settings, then find and download from the net. and re-add them to your library -
I just purchased a new iphone 4S and I'm trying to loan some music from itunes. I keep getting a message that says not enough space on my phone. I checked my phone and I have 5.1G available. I deselected all the songs on my itunes to try and get it to sync and I keep getting the same message. Any tips?

Resolution
Try disconnecting and reconnecting your device, then syncing again to solve this issue.
Orphaned files may remain on your iOS device if it is physically disconnected while syncing music, podcasts, videos, or photos. This can prevent iTunes from syncing the iOS device on subsequent sync sessions. When this happens, the Capacity indicator in iTunes may report a large amount of "Other" disk usage for the iOS device. To resolve this issue:
1. Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
2. Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
3. Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
4. Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes.
- If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 5.
5. Turn off the automatic syncing functions for the iOS device. To do this:
- Select the iOS device from the iTunes window and click the Summary tab.
- Deselect "Automatically sync when this device is connected" and select the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checkbox.
- Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
- Reduce the amount of data that is being synced to the device and resync the device. For example, if syncing your Music library exceeds the memory capacity of the device, choose "Selected playlists" to transfer rather than "All songs and playlists" under the Music tab in iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 6.
6. Restore using iTunes.

I am new with iMac and I am trying to copy some file from my external HDD that a used with my PC but it does not let me also I can't delete anything from this HDD using the finder. Can somebody help me , please?
No, unfortunately, when you format a drive, it will erase all the contents. So you will need to find a temporary "storage" place to put the stuff using a PC so you have access to it. Then reformat using Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities). If only using with mac, format Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and use GUID Partition scheme under Partitions/Options. After formatting, you can drag the files back.

Ask the Verizon store to exchange your iPhone for a different iPhone 4.
