You can't play movies in iPhoto. But, you can in quicktime, which is installed along with the OS. Just double click on the .mov file and quicktme should start.

Nokia N8 unable to play videos.

I've recently been having problems playing any type of video on my N8, including videos recorded from the phone's camera. Basically all it plays is the sound from the video and displays a black screen with the video title and a small picture of broken film.
I got the phone just before the new year and everything was fine for the first couple of months until this problem showed up. It would play all video's I stuck on there and play recorded video just like it should but I recently had a problem updating some firmware which would keep failing to install. My firmware update history shows an update called 'Videos' that failed but there's no option to redownload the patch. Is this the problem behind me not being able to play videos and is there anything I can do about it?
I've also reinstalled the phones firmware from the Ovi suite but nothing appears to have changed. Also, while my phone was hooked up to the Ovi suite, I synced my contacts to try and update a few numbers in Windows contacts, but my phone now has 2-4 duplicates of each number and the phone will display only the number (not the contact name) of some contacts when they ring me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as im starting to lose my rag with this bloody phone.

The only thing I could think of would be a hard reset. But this will remove many things from your device.
Back up all your files before you attempt it.

New ITunes unable to Play videos Help please!

I recently transferred all my videos and music over from my old itunes which was on a desktop to my new laptop. The music plays fine and I can watch and listen to music on my new ipod which has been synced to this computer. I am however having an issue watching videos through itunes itself, all i get is a funky green screen and the audio. Any ideas?

Unfortuneatly at this point, mant people are having play back problems with any DRM video...some people seem to work, a large portion do not. The problem seems to be one of 3 things:
- A grey screen with no sound or video
- A grey screen with no sound or video, and apple prompt the account to be re-authorized over and over again, even after it is authorized and music is playinf
- A green screen with sound but no video
Unfortunately I have tried all of the fixes suggested (seach for my posts, you will see what I have tried), but apple support is unable to help me and many others...and we're out in the cold. My suggestion: NON DRM all the way, it just works, quicktime and itunes play any NON DRM, unfortunelty, thats not the way its all going, so...you have to make a choice now...walk on the dark side or...wait..and hope......that apple will eventually come up with a solution. I'll put my faith in the Dark Side for now...evil just works.

I get the following message:

Failed to realizeThe first line shows the filename I pass to the setMediaLocation()-method of the MediaPlayer-object.
What's wrong? If I rename the file to ABC.mpg it works fine.

I am unable to play videos on youtube app or in safari ?

Hi,
My son has an ipad mini and for the last year and a half has spent many hours a week watching Minecraft videos on the Youtube app without any problems. About a week ago my son showed me that when trying to play a video via the Youtube app the audio would play fine whereas the video playback is stuttering and completely out of sync with the audio. I thought that it may just be the app so I tried watching a video via safari but it was the same issue. I then thought I would try watching movie trailer from a random website but that wont play smoothly either.
If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this I would be eternally grateful.

I Would start with something simple and easy to do. Close all apps, and reset the iPad, you will not lose any data.
In order to close apps in iOS 7, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Unable to Play Video in Acrobat X

I am trying to place some video in Indesign CS5.5 then export as an interactive PDF for use in Acrobat X.
I have tried encoding the source video in both Apple Compressor and Adobe Media Encoder. Have tried different formats such as FLV, mp4 and H.264. The video will play on my computer and within the Indesign Media preview window however when exported and opened in Acrobat I only get the poster image. Once I click to play the video all I get is a grey screen and nothing happens...
Hope someone can help.

Sorry I can't help you much, I would just like to add that I too experience this same behavior on occasion.
For us it seems to have started after we had been working with CS5 for quite awhile but before we moved to CS5.5.
(we have not yet upgraded to CS6)
I work at an Ad Agency and we're making Interactive PDF's with embbeded video routinely.
Once in a great while we'll come across a video file that won't play as del_76 described.
Converting to another format with Media Encoder, Xinet, QT Pro or other software usually is enough to resolve the problem.
Recently, I had a .mov file that, no matter what I did with it, it would not play in Acrobat X.
The other 10 ten video files, seeminlgy from the same source, and handled in a routine manner played just fine.
I say seemingly from the same source because how do I know what has occurred with the file in it's past?
Although a file appears to be fine as recieved, has it been converted from this to that and back again and manifests as a problem only now?
We will be testing CS6 soon and I'll try to let you know if that seems to influence this problem in any way.

HT3775 QT unable to play video of 1080i mpeg2 files

When I try to play a video file (any I've tried) identified as
224 mpeg2 1920x1080 29.97fps, 38.81Mbps, upper fld first
with either QT10.0 or QT7.6.6 (with recently downloaded QT MPEG-2 playback component), I get a large pane with just black. When I push play, the counter progresses as though it is playing but the video pane stays black.
QT10 indicates the video is MPEG2 Muxed, 30FPS, 17.39Mb/s, 1676x944
QT7 says MPEG2 Muxed, 30FPS, 17.39Mb/s, 1920x1080
The video does play in VLC 2.0.5 but not in MPEG Streamclip (which uses the QT MPEG-2 playback component), which suggests an issue with the MPEG-2 playback component.
I am able to play a video file identified as
224 MPEG-2, 1280 × 720, 16:9, 59.94 fps, 38.81 Mbps, progressive
with QT10, QT7.6.6, and MPEG Streamclip
One source of video I have is in this 1080i format, and I'd like to be able to work with it.
(Audio is a different issue, which I'm not touching here.)
I suspect this is a limitation of the QT MPEG-2 pllayback component (but this limitation is NOT specified at http://store.apple.com/us/product/D2187Z/A/ )
Is there any hope of this working in 10.6? If so, how? Does it work in 10.7 or 10.8 ??

It turns out I found I have some other 1080i MPEG-2 video that does play properly in QT. So it must be something different in the encoding of this particular source of 1080i.
Softwater, thanks for the link to Handbrake. VLC isn't sufficient because I want to do more than just view it. ffmpeg is a little low-level for my current expertise in this area.
LousyFool, thanks for the pointer to the QT forum. I should have been able to find that on my own, but I hadn't.
As for the person (or maybe bot) who provided a link to a republisher of other people's software, maybe there's a reason for them, but since the person didn't even see that I said I used VLC, I suspect that person is just trying to pad his pocket.

Unable to play videos on the BBC web site.

Running an iMac (Mac OS X 10.9.1) with Safari (7.0.1) and Flash Player 11.9.900.170 I get the message "This content doesn't seem to be working. Please try again later" when trying to run any videos (including those in iPlayer) on the www.bbc.co.uk web site.
On a Macbook Pro (Mac OS X 10.9.1) with Safari (7.0.1) and Flash Player 11.9.900.117, the videos and iPlayer content all run normally.
On both machines, video files from other sites run normally.
I have removed and re-installed Flash Player 11.9.900.170 on the iMac, checked all the advice from your Forum pages, but can find no way to improve this situation.
Any advice gratefully received.

I've now tried both suggestions, and things have much improved. Most video clips now play (including those from the iPlayer site), although many from the bbc.co.uk/news and its associated sites do not - the video clip remains stubbornly black, with no error message appearing.
However, all video clips (from ANY web site) show a grey screen with "Shockwave Flash" displayed. Clicking this screen removes it and the video plays (unless it happens to be on the bbc.co.uk/news and its associated sites). Could this be significant?
Also, I've tried using the Chrome browser, and again some clips on the bbc.co.uk/news site fail to run (but no "Shockwave Flash" screen at all in Chrome) and allow me to collect the following error details:-
Error code : 3024
Severity : critical
Description : All net connections failed
Responsibility : Application
In Firefox, the following error details are obtained:-
Error code : 3011
Severity : error
Description : The netstream connection was closed unexpectedly
Responsibility : Application
I hope some of this is helpful in determining, and possibly resolving, the cause of the problem.
