I'm unable to update apple tv to latest build

The Apple TV gets to this point and then suddenly times out.
It has been doing this for three days now.
Any ideas?

Plug it into a computer with iTunes and update it.

  • Unable to update Apple TV

Got an Apple TV yesterday. Everything is working except that I am unable to update it. Keep getting the message that "Unable to download update". Anyone know what might be wrong?

Same as that to the day. Version 4.2 (2060)
I have seen some earlier posts (from 2008!!) which suggested some serious software tinkering.
I will watch your replies with interest and hope it can be rectified easier than what was suggested 3 years ago.
It must not be a common issue, so few posts.
I registered my serial number in the hope that this might release the update but not so far.
Brilliant piece of kit. isn't it, though.
    Cheers.

  • HT4972 Unable to update iPhone 4 to latest version

My daughter was given a iPhone 4 that was completely reset.  It has 13GB of space but will not support certain apps without updating at least to IOS 6.  I had to back up and sync with my PC and was able to connect and start downloading to IOS 7; however when the process was completed an error message was displayed stating it was unable to update the phone....epic fail! We are using wi-fi, I noticed that question asked in other inquires while searching for an answer.  What do we need to do to at least update this phone to a version that will support Instagram app?  Thanks!

    Hello smazzle70,
We've an article that can help put the device into recovery mode, and provides steps for updating via iTunes.

  • Java Update does not install latest build

Kind of an odd bug I suppose: Java Update only installs up to build 6, even though build 7 is listed on the site. It's possible that the latest build hasn't been placed on the update servers yet, though personally I think there's a problem with Java update itself. It doesn't seem to need to sequentially install the builds either (though, what developer does that anymore?) as after updating to build 6, Java Update stated that it was the latest version.

A month is too long to have failed updates, ellencav. I know you mentioned you have a Samsung Galaxy 3. Can you clarify if you have the Note 3 or galaxy S 3? Was a warranty replacement offered through Verizon tech support? This way, as long as you met the terms of the warranty, a replacement would be shipped to you and the defective device would be shipped back.

  • Airport for Windows unable to update Apple ID, but still gives "Unknown Error" and keeps opening Airport. NEED AN UPDATE!

I found out what's wrong only because I still have an old (2010) Macbook Pro and it's Airport software gets the same error, but it tells me what the problem is and let's me fix it. The problem was I changed my AppleID password and it's apparently stored in the Airport Extreme. The windows version just says Unknown Error and offers Software Update, but there is no update. The problem is Airport Utility keeps opening and repeating this error on all Windows machines. If I didn't have the old mac there would be no way out. Please update Airport for Windows.
PS: I don't have a new Mac because:
    1. Price is more than $1,000 higher than comparable PC.
    2. No 17" laptop offered.
    3. Can get a really good graphics card.
    4. Limited availability of the really high performance Intel chips.
    5. Price is too high (oh, yes, I said that already).

You need to ask Apple for assistance with getting back into your old ID. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to resolve this issue through the Account Security team, fill out and submit this form.

  • Unable to update Apple TV software

Over the last two days I have tried unsuccesfully many time to update my Apple TV software. I purchased the product in 2012 so either have version 2 or 3. Any help would be appreciated.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
    Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
(You may already have a micro USB cable if you have a camera or other digital device)

  • Unable to update Apple apps and system

I thought I posted this yesterday, but I may have messed up, as I can't find the posting.
Ever since updating to Mountain Lion, Apple updates finish with "the update failed. Contact the manufacture...etc." Yet when I check the updated application, its version number reflects that it DID update. Only Apple updates cause this problem—Third party updates are OK.
When the 10.8.5 update gave me the "failed" message (and I used the combo updater), it was a disaster and I had to use the recovery partition to completely reinstall the system (over the internet).
Can anybody tell me what's wrong?
    Marty

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Select
    /var/log ▹ install.log
from the hierarchical list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar. Then select the messages from the last installation or update attempt, starting from the time when you initiated it. If you're not sure when that was, start over and note the time. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.

  • Unable to update Java to the latest version

When I try to update Java, when I get to 'Close Programs to Continue', one of the programs I am told I need to close is 'Start'. Doing this means I have to restart Windows 7. The problem is that the Java installation doesn't resume after I've done this.
Presumably, one of the processes that starts up with Windows uses Java, but I've got no idea which one. I've tried ending various processes in Task Manage, but this doesn't help.
Has anybody got any suggestions, please?
    Thanks,
    John

I checked my Services console and Bonjour was started. I can also stop and start it without issue. I searched for these errors, but most of what I found was trouble getting the Bonjour service to start and as you can see, this is not my issue.
I have also tried to update iTunes with Bonjour stopped and disabled and with my Eset NOD32 Antivirus software disabled, but neither of these steps made any difference. I do not have a third-party firewall on my PC, but I am using Windows firewall. I have also tried disabling the Windows firewall, but this made no difference.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    More information:
Found this in the System log in Windows Event Viewer. There are many occurrences coinciding with the times I have been trying to update iTunes and/or Bonjour.

You need to contact App Store support. They are the only people who can help with account issues.

  • After updating to  Mavericks, I have been unable to update iphoto, and when I attempt to, it says that These apps were already assigned to another Apple ID, and they will be available in that Apple ID's Purchases list.

But no other appleID has ever been used on my computer, how could this be resolved?

Contact App Store support. There's a link on the right hand side of the App Store Window. They're the only ones who can sort out account issues.

And is there any way to sync all my purchases and accounts to just have one... It is a bit stupid that you dont even get a list of something of what account you may of used, or some kind of hint, so you could log on to the right account. I am really stuck ...
    Please Advise......

You can't merge accounts. But you can check your purchase history:

Also, what may seem stupid to you... may be a protection of privacy to others.
