I'm unable to upload Firefox 6.0 on my Mac Powerbook, OS X, 10.5.8. I keep trying to upload it but it never stops loading; doesn't finish.

same as above

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
* Firefox 6.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
* Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

  • Firefox is part of my startup process but recently it stopped loading when I boot up, on both my desktop and PC. Why?

    I have Firefox in my Startup list to run as part of the boot-up process, on both my desktop (running XP) and my laptop (running Vista). Recently it stopped loading at startup on both machines. No error message (apart from the usual "adpoxy" one occasionally). I have to start it manually, then no problem.

    You can turn off all updates for Firefox if you wish. But first, read this: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/734822?#threadId734866
    If you are talking about Add-ons updates, you can also turn those off but you face the same problem with missing important security and stability updates for your add-ons.
    Turning off the updates would be like not keeping your Windows XP updated. You are on XP SP3, I hope, since XP SP2 is not longer supported. Also, do you update XP every month on the 2nd Tuesday?
    If you decide to update Firefox and its add-ons manually, don't forget to manually check for updates occasionally (once per week, once per month). To turn off the automatic updates, Tools > Options > Advanced > Update tab; see: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Options+window+-+Advanced+panel#Update_tab

  • Unable to open Firefox 7.01 since downloading MAC Lyon.

    Firefox will not open a browser window since downloading Lyon Operating system to my MAC.

    Thanks for your help. I found the problem yesterday. The connectivity for the browser was set up wrong. Selected automatic and everything works fine now.

  • Firefox constantly freezes on my Mac, although I've installed the latest version and tried all suggested fixes - without success.

    I used Firefox up to version 3.5 and it worked well. But ever since, FF has frozen as soon as I've opened a webpage other than Google. FF even freezes when I'm in Mozilla's help pages !
    I have trashed and reinstalled several times, updated constantly as suggested. I'm now using (or trying to use) version 25. No success.
    I have done everything that was suggested :
    - trashed and reinstalled ( several times over the years, to see if new versions of FF would work)
    - restarted FF in safe mode
    - tweaked the profile as recommended
    - I've painstakingly checked that all my plug-ins etc were up to date. They are.
    None of these solutions have worked. As I have written more than once, none of them should be necessary : Firefox should "just work". After all, other browsers do - I use Safari and Chrome, for instance, as well as SeaMonkey. Does any
    one know what's happening ?
    I'm now running Mac OS 10.9.

    A moderator (AliceWyman, whom I thank for her post) suggests I reset Firefox. I've done that, more than once.
    The problem remains. And so does my question : why does Firefox keep on hanging/freezing ?
    Why should fixes be necessary? Mozilla, in its Firefox page, generously offers the browser free, and users assume that it will, simply, work. In my case, it doesn't.
    And as I've said: I've tried a whole range of fixes and workarounds (that aren't necessary with other browsers) and they haven't worked. If my iMac can handle all the other browsers with no problem, this indicates that the computer works, and that the other browsers do too. So this problem seems to be a specific Firefox one.
    As I've already said, I could just give up and use Safari, Chrome, Chromium, SeaMonkey, Maxthon, or Slimboat, for instance.
    But it irks me that FF, with such a good reputation (it's the third most widely used browser), should behave in this way.
    "Different by design", says its webpage. Well, it's certainly different. Can anyone help? I've been asking these questions, trying "fixes", trashing and clean-reinstalling for about a week now.

  • I have a mac laptop OS 10.6.5, and recently upgraded to Firefox 4 beta, but when I try to use my hotmail account, it either never stops loading and/or many files either won't open at all or keep crashing.

    When I open email in my inbox, they continually load and flash. I often have to use the "back" arrow several times to make it stop. Sometimes the message just won't open at all. Also, I can't open "sent" mail at all.

    There's an HTML5 compatibility issue with Windows Live / Hotmail that affects the Firefox 4.0 betas. A Hotmail rep has said that will be fixed before the Firefox 4.0 Release Candidate comes out.
    Try hitting the '''Esc''' key to stop that "cycling".

  • Just updated Firefox to 3.6.9 Adobe was updated also. Why does Adobe keep trying to update everytime a new Firefox window is started?

    This action is very annoying. Whenever a new Firefox instance is started, a window pops up saying it is updating Adobe. Then another window comes up showing what is being updated. But it is blank.

    Your above posted system details show outdated plugin(s) with known security and stability risks.

  • I keep trying to upload my resume on job sites on my iPad and there it seems that I don't have a program that is recognized. Is there an app I can get that will allow me to do this? When I click on the tab that says upload resume it says choose from galle

    WHen trying upload my resume on job sites I only have the option to choose from photo library. Is there an app I can get that would help with this or one that is like Microsoft word?

    Since the ipad, and all apple mobile devices do not have the file structure like on a computer the sites aren't able to locate your file.
    Many job sites and employers allow you to 'copy and paste' your resume into a text box on their site.
    If they have an email option, then that would be best.
    I'm not aware of an app the will allow you to upload your resume. But this seems to be a poplular queston so there might be something in the app store.

  • After updating Firefox on my MacBook Air (OSX 10.6.8), it has ceased to work. I open it, but it never gets beyond the Connecting... message.

    I have always used Firefox on my MacBook Air. But since updating to the latest version of Firefox (7.0.1), it freezes as soon as I open it - there is a constantly running "Connecting..." message, and the little circle turns continuously, and there is a blank page. Eventually, I get an error message saying "Connection Timed Out" - and it does not matter which website I try to contact. All my other browsers (Safari, Chrome" work fine

    Hi franverdi-
    It sounds like you've run into issues from the upgrade. I've found a Support article that helps with issues of not being able to connect after an upgrade:
    [[Cannot connect after upgrading Firefox]]
    I hope that helps!

  • Keep trying to upload "strongly recom." update but can't seem to connec to update server

    I keep getting notified that a Firefox update is ready to be installed and that Firefox needs to be restarted. I do this and then receive a message that an important security update needs to be downloaded. I click on download but noting seems to happen. 24 hrs. later the whole process begins again.

    See:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Software_Update (Software Update not working properly)
    Remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder.
    You may need to delete active-update.xml and updates.xml as well if present.
    C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates
    (%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox)
    If you have problems with updating then easiest is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
    You may need to remove the Firefox program folder to do a clean install of the new version.
    Do a clean (re-)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
    Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

    benfrommaidenhead, were you able to solve your iTunes installation failed issue?
    I have the same problem; installed iTunes from dmg, deleted iTunes.app, attempted to reinstall. Get the same error every time.
    An interesting observation from your log file, is that both my installation and yours appear to be to an SSD?
    The three other updates in my house were to macbooks using traditional HDDs, and they had no issues.

  • Using Firefox 7. Can log on and run problem for a while, then get message "Not connected. Trying to re-connect" But it never succeeds in re-connecting. If I exit Firefox and re-launch, it cures the problem. Get this problem with several different PCs

    Chrome works fine. Haven't got desperate enough to try IE.
    Friend reports similar problem with her system, which is not connected to mine.

    * Try this.
    * Type in the address bar about:config.
    * Accept the warning.
    * In the page that appears, in the Filter box, type network.http.max-connections.
    * Change the value to 32 (which is probably set to 256 in your case).
    * Close the about:config page.
    * Restart the browser.

  • How can I download Firefox onto a disk from my Windows PC, and then take the disk to my Mac and upload it to use on the Mac? Safari does not work anymore.

    My Mac assures me that I am connected to the internet, using Airport and also ethernet, but Safari never gives me a home page. Can I download Firefox onto a disk using my Windows PC and then take the disk to the Mac and upload Firefox to use on the Mac ?

    You can grab a "full" installer (.dmg file) from this page (scroll down to your preferred language):
    https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

  • Firefox does not respond when trying to upload photos or files to Facebook, Google+, or similar sites.

    When trying to upload photos to various websites, Firefox brings up the pop up to view and select locations on your computer, but it never fully loads, it just kinda freezes, never allowing you to select files. I eventually get a 'This program is not responding' message and have to force close.

    Second times a charm!!!
    Maybe the link I had 1st time had a bug or something... I had installed it, restarted computer and all, exactly same process... and it had done nothing.
    But download page wasn't the same. Real weird.
    Good thing is, now it works!
    So to anyone who has had same problem, tried the "patch download" solution and didn't have any success (like me previously - which is why I posted)... TRY AGAIN! The link above works!
    Thanks

  • I am unable to open Firefox whenever I want to go online

    This morning I tried to open Mozilla Firefox to go online like I always do, but it didn't open. I tried several more times and even tried restarting my computer, but it never worked. I even tried deleting it and re-installing/downloading it, but then it never showed up in the list of my Programs. Now I am online via Internet Explorer, but I much prefer Firefox. I tried opening Task Manager and going under Processes to see if there is a 'Firefox.exe' that I could right-click to "end process", but there wasn't. I'm just concerned that I won't ever again be able to go onto the internet via Firefox. Please help. My laptop is a Gateway, and not even 1 year old yet.
