I'm uninstalling Firefox.

The new design, even with "Classic Theme Restorer," is a step down. One example: I was customizing my address bar and lost -- yes lost -- the home icon. I accidentally dropped it halfway between the page of available icons and the address bar, and it ceased to appear in either.

OK, the Home button was my bad. Things are working. Overreacted.

  • How do i uninstall firefox 4 and go back to my last version?

I want to uninstall this version firefox 4 and go back to my old version. Firefox 4 does not support my gamers unite snagbar add on for farm ville and i want it back

Make sure you do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data" as that option will delete all of your bookmarks, passwords etc.
You can re-install Firefox 3.6.15 from http://www.mozilla.com though judging by your user agent string you still have 3.6.15 installed.

  • Downloads just disappear from the specified location such as "Desktop" or "My Documents".They are untraceable afterwards. Why does this happen? And because of this I have uninstalled Firefox and now use Chrome.

I have been using Firefox for almost a year now,and had upgraded to Version 7 recently.
My problem started with the downloads.
    1) When a download is to be commenced,a box appears with two options, namely "SAVE" and "CANCEL".
Even when I click on "SAVE",the the box shows it as 'cancelled'.When I right click on the box, another dialogue box appears with a number of choices ,the top one reads 'RETRY'.
When I click this option the download starts and it is shown in the chosen location until 99% is completed,bu the moment the download is complete, the item i.e. the downloaded item just disappears from the chosen location and is not traceable thereafter. This has happened to me repeatedly over the past week or so and I am so disgusted that I have been compelled to uninstall Firefox, and have started using Chrome.
Please help,as I would like to get back to using Firefox again but without the above problems.

Understood.  However, the point that I'm trying to make is that it's not the WiFi access point's security that's in question, it's having your phone's WiFi in an always-on mode that's in question.  It's simple: if your phone's WiFi is on, then it is both discoverable and hackable... even when it's not connected to a WiFi network or access point.  Here's an article about a drone in London that was created to hack smartphone WiFi signals (and hackers have been doing what this drone does for years):
    http://money.cnn.com/2014/03/20/technology/security/drone-phone/
The point is that it's not  secure to have your phone's WiFi in an always-on mode.  It would be better for privacy and security if Apple made WiFi location aware so that it is only enabled when you are at a trusted location (e.g. your home or office).  Or, at least give us the option of location aware WiFi so that each user can determine the best mode for their phone:
    (1) Always-On (current default - not secure and many privacy issues).
    (2) Trusted mode (only on at trusted locations).
    (3) Off.

  • I am trying to uninstall firefox and when i click uninstall it says the program is still running so i stop it and it exits the remove program

im trying to uninstal firefox so i went to my control pannel clicked on add or remove progams then clicked on mozzola firefox and clicked remove it said it was still running so i clicked ctrl alt dlt and clicked task manager and ended firefox from running and when i did that the box to uninstall firefox exited so i clicked it again and the program started running again i dont know what to do i need firefox uninstalled

I assume you are using windows. There are two options:
    1. Try restarting your computer and then try uninstalling.
    2. Firefox might be a program that starts immediately upon booting. In that case, go to the task manager, end all tasks that firefox is running. Then try uninstalling firefox

Because of a problem, I uninstalled Firefox once, reinstalled it and it ran. I had a problem so I uninstalled/reinstalled it again. Now it will not run. I get an error message saying that firefox is running and you can only run one at a time. I have uninstalled multiple times and can't figure out what is running. The is only one Firefox installed and it is not open. What does this mean and how do I fix it?

  • I need to uninstall Firefox, but I receive an error message that I must close it first. I am unable to do that

Firefox is preventing me from going on line and receiving complete e-mails, including graphics. There is a continuing error message on allowing Firefox to update my computer, but then telling me that I must close the application before it can do that. To the best of my knowledge, the application isn't open. Short of shutting down my computer, how do I close this application? I was advised to uninstall Firefox and then re-install, but I cannot run that Wizard because the application is apparently open. Looking for help in closing the application.

After I updated to 3.6.8 I started noticing on a game I play at UniversalCriminal.com that randomly when I click on a link, firefox will load the appropriate page and as soon as it finishes loading that page it will refresh or reload the same page. It doesn't happen on any particular link it just happens randomly, and not all the time but most of the time. I tried reverting back to an earlier version of firefox but it still happened. I uninstalled firefox and reinstalled the latest version but it still happens. It doesn't do it with IE or Chrome or Opera. What gives? Any ideas anyone?

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
*Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop<br>https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

  • I updated StumbleUpon which offered a tool bar. Since then I get no URL line, including everything else normally on that line. I have uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled and still get the same. What can I do to correct this without doing a system restore

I recently updated the add-on StumbleUpon which offered a tool bar. Since then I do not get the line which has the URL space as well as other functions. I am now forced to use IE. I have uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled but get the same startup page. What else can I do short of using system restore to a prior date?

  • Firefox crashing---most likely related to the plugin container issue, but also unable to uninstall firefox, there is no prompt that opens when I try to.

Like many others, I've been having issues with firefox since the update. The plugin container seems to crash my browser, or freeze the whole of my computer, and I must restart. I've switched to internet explorer for now.
Moreover, now Firefox doesn't even seem to open now. I doubleclick on the icon, or try to launch the browser in any way, and it looks like it thinks about opening, but nothing ever occurs. I've watched my system processes, and firefox.exe appears for a moment, and then disappears, like its process has ended, but I've done nothing.
Additionally, I can't even seem to uninstall firefox---the uninstall setup doesn't open, and trying to do it from add/remove programs on windows xp doesn't seem to work either.
I also sometimes get an error that says windows can't find a file/path, related to a 'profile' but haven't had that for a day or so---since I can't even open firefox now.

Hello sprytely, go for a clean re-install, this means you '''remove Firefox program files''' and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from the next full installer https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/ and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found [[Troubleshoot and diagnose Firefox problems#w_5-reinstall-firefox|here]].

  • I was no longer able to click on my Firefox icon and open . I uninstalled firefox and then reinstalled and I still cannot get Firefox to open. It says that the download was successful. What should I do?

I attempted to open Firefox as usual and when I clicked on the icon nothing happened. I uninstalled Firefox and then reinstalled. It said that the download for Firefox was successful but it still does not open. When I click on Firefox it now just says to upgrade Firefox. What should I do to get Firefox up and running again. I have a Mac and my Safari is linking me just fine to the internet so Apple says it is not a Mac problem but a Firefox problem.

I notice you turned off the setting that diverts new windows to a new tab. Since the new window will open in front of your current tab, it may appear that the current tab was closed, when in fact it is behind the new window. This hard to explain in words.
Do you want to switch the setting?
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Tabs
Check the box for "Open new windows in a new tab instead"
    Does that help?

  • A Firefox search bar virus has taken hold of my system and wont let go! Is there any way I can avoid uninstalling Firefox every day to get rid of this?

The situation: Whenever I go to use the address bar or the small search toolbar (which is set to google) in my window, the search engine used instead is "search.searchcompletion.com", which returns very shitty search results and is annoying.
The things I have tried to fix this:
First, I disabled and deleted all my add-ons, changed my homepage back to google and updated my search engine to google. Tested search bar, *still infected* RESULT: NEGATIVE
Second, I downloaded a anti-virus/anti-malware program called Malwarebytes. It did good, catching 28 virus's in various files, quarantining them, and deleting them. I tested the search bar, *still infected* RESULT: NEGATIVE
Third, I read about typing in "about:config" into the Firefox address bar and changing a few things, as explained <a href="http://deletemalware.blogspot.com/2011/09/remove-startsearch-and.html">here</a>. I tested the search bar, *still broken*. RESULT: NEGATIVE
Fourth, I read you can "manually delete the virus from your registery". I followed the instuctions carefully, deleting these strings: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main “Start Page”
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\InternetExplorer\Control Panel “HomePage”. Tested the search bar, *still infected* RESULT: NEGATIVE
Fifth, someone somewhere installed a special add on that blocked certain sites. Whatever I did it did not work, the site (search.searchcompletion.com) just lost it's formatting, but still did not let me search using google. RESULT: NEGATIVE
Fifth, I just uninstalled everything having to do with Firefox from my computer. I reinstalled it and tested the search bar and it worked!....
For 24 hours. When I turned on my computer today, the search.searchcompletion virus is back, and short of uninstalling Firefox, I do not know what to do.
    I have no add-ons.
I have deleted temp internet files
    I have virus protection
    I have tried everything.
    Help me.

Plugins usually are installed externally to Firefox. However, you can disable them in Firefox so that Firefox does not use them.
SearchReset is supposed to automate the task of resetting certain preferences, but you still can edit them manually if necessary.
    '''''Address Bar Search'''''
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''keyword''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Right-click '''keyword.URL''' and choose Reset. This should restore Google as the default for address bar search.
    Does that work?
    '''''Search Box'''''
Usually it works to choose your preferred search engine from the drop-down. To remove an unwanted search engine plugin, usually the Manage Search Engines... choice at the bottom of the drop-down takes care of it.
    Do either of those work?
There might be another way to hijack that search box; I think some of the other frequent responders probably are more familiar with it than I am.

  • I want to uninstall firefox but it tells me i need to close it i have checked on taskl manager and firefox does not show as being open. I have Windows 7 OS

I have Windows 7 OS on my desktop. I had trouble with IE9 loading a shoutbox in a Carers Forum I belong to. I loaded Firefox and it allowed me to use the shoutbox okay. But when I tried to access the games aracade it told I needed to download Adobe Flashplayer (the games play okay on IE9). I tried to download Adobe Flashplayer and it downloaded halfway, then told me I needed to close Firefox for the download to continue. I have made sure that it was closed by checking Task Manager to see which applciations were open. I get the same message if I try to download using IE9. I have tried to uninstall Firefox using Control Panel, but I get the same message saying I need to close Firefox... again i checked Task manager but it says it is not running.
