I'm using Snow Leopard and Firefox 6.0.2. I regularly use page setup, scale to get web pages to print on one page or at least fewer pages, and also to save as PDF. Not working now.

It has worked fine until recently. Now at less than 100%, the first page is reduced normally but pages 2 etc seem to be not reduced and pushed up and off the upper right of the page with header and page text completely missing on top and entire right of page. What happened? It is doing this on multiple web pages. No problem printing in any other program. Safari doesn't have scaling so I can't check that. It has been going on for several weeks and it is very irritating, and a waste of paper.

Usually, where there are issues like that, it has to do with incompatible programs that may be loaded at system startup. So, in System Preferences, look at your login ID, and login items, and see if any programs listed there should be updated to run with Snow Leopard. While in System Preferences, look at the bottom of the window where you may find some programs listed also. Check them too.

Save as PDF not working - in Preview only

I am trying to password protect a PDF file so I can email it, and tried to use the "Save As PDF" option in File>Print (in Preview) so I could add a password in the Security Options window. However, when I do this, nothing seems to happen (the application kind of freezes for about 10 seconds or so, and then it's back to the same print screen). I tested out whether the Save as PDF option worked in other applications (Word, Excel, Safari) and it works fine. Only Preview seems to be a problem - which is an issue if I want to password protect docs that are already PDF. Any suggestions? I'm running on OSX 10.8.2 on a MBP from early 2011. Thanks in advance.

Save as PDF not working suddenly

As of yesterday, unable to use the *'Save as PDF'* feature in the print dialogue.
Clicking on Save as PDF produces no result window (file name as save location). In fact, none of the options under PDF button works, neither does the Preview button.
Happening with all applications. No font conflicts. Permissions repaired.
Only way to make this feature work now is by
1. manually deselecting the default printer (Epson)
2. manually selecting Adobe PDF 9
3. clicking on the PDF button
4. selecting Save as PDF select +(not Print: no file is pdf-ed or saved anywhere)+
~ and the original workflow is back (save dialogue box pops up, etc.)
All of this should happen almost automatically, as before. Assume something is broken / corrupted.
Any help would be appreciated, as I use this feature a lot.

Reinstalled SL over current installation and updated to 10.6.1.
'Save as PDF" still doesn't work.
If 'Save as PDF' is an Automator workflow, here's a clue perhaps...
In user>library>pdf services, found a workflow reading 'Save As PDF-X.workflow'. When clicked, opened up the Automator library with the following message:
"The behavior of this workflow may have changed because of the reasons listed below.
The workflow was saved with an older version of the action "Apply Quartz Filter to PDF Documents. Some behavior may have changed."
Anyone?

Save as PDF not working

I used to to save all my emails or anything else to a "save as PDF" or "export to PDF" and now its not working
it tells me the the file name is too long, over 31 characters not supported (all my other files are longer before)
then I make it shorter, it says it created a PDF, put I can not find it anywhere or in the location that I have save it to !!!!
Please can someone help me, Its Urgent Now, have all these emails but can not save a copy

Your Mac Computer model and sub-model
Your mac OSX version
What e-mail program you use
Otherwise we are guessing and that's not always good!
PS: This forum is for iMacs made before 2006 but, due to poor forum labeling on Apple's part, people with newer iMacs often end up here by mistaqke. If you have newer iMac we need to get you moved to a more active and appropriate forum. Advice for what old iMacs need may not apply to new ones.

Save as PDF not working for Numbers, Yosemite

I have a MacBook Pro, running OS X Yosemite (10.10) and Numbers Version 3.5. I'm trying to save a spreadsheet as a PDF document using the Print function, followed by "Save as PDF". The first time I tried this, it complained about the name being longer than 31 characters. I corrected that, and the process appears to finish normally. However, the PDF document does not appear in the destination directory. A subsequent search of my hard drive doesn't show the document anywhere.
A few more details which may or may not be pertinent. The spreadsheet has 2 sheets, but I'm trying to "print to PDF" only 1 of those sheets. I have also told Numbers to "Fit" the sheet onto 1 page (it would otherwise be several pages in size and not very conveniently viewable...it's just a very wide table). Prior to upgrading to Yosemite, I was able to "print to PDF" an earlier version of this same spreadsheet, although that version had only 1 sheet.
Any and all help much appreciated.

Illustrator help..save to PDF not working.

I am just trying to save a PDF from my illustrator file. However, when I go to Save as, and select PDF, no dialog box opens to allow me to set how I want the file outputted. IF I just hit enter, the file does save.. its just like the Dialog box is hidden or not appearing. The reason I need the dialog box is because I need to add bleeds to the PDF and my default save doesn't do that. Any ideas or anyone else have this problem? Thanks!

Yeah, be sure that you shutdown Illustrator before you remove the old preferences.
Move your old Illustrator preferences to the desktop or trash in case something goes wrong
Go to your home folder
~/Library/Preferences/
folder:
Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings
Adobe Illustrator CS3 Library Settings
file:
com.adobe.illustrator.plist

Save changes button not working in my tabular form

I have created a tabular form with all the button like cancel,delete,save,add row and their processes by default
when i tried to run the report, the save is not working (whenever i tried to make some changes and update the form) like it giving me an error saying that
" Error in mru internal routine: ORA-20001: no data found in tabular form "
I looked at the process MRU, it is OKAY.
I tried to delete it(the MRU process) and created a new MRU process then also the SAVE button is not working, like it gives the same error.

Can anyone help me out with this issue...!
what might be the problem?

There could be two reasons for this error:
1. in your MRU Process, you didn't type the proper primary key column name
2. your tabular form is missing the referenced collumn

Try doing it in a WIndows Safe mode - Restart computer and hit F8 key right after your see BIOS check and choose "Safe mode with networking"
Do the SFC /SCANNOW again.
If that does not work, whilst in safe mode, download Free Malwarebyte software from CNET's Download.com. Install, update virus definition then perform a full scan. Remove if it did find some viruses or trojans. Restart computer.
Back to regular windows, do the SFC /SCANNOW again.
If that doesnot work, check to see if your Hard drive has errors or bad sectors
GO START BUTTON /COMPUTER, right mouse click OS (C:) and choose "Properties"
Choose "Tools" tab and under error checking, click "Check Now".
Make sure "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" is checked and click start.
Restart windows will perform the above task to fix errors This may take hours depends on how big is your Hard Drive

There are several variants of the trojan. The first ones were released as installers for Adobe Flash and therefore did not require you to have Java on your system. Later variants took advantage of a Java vulnerability and could install themselves by simply visiting a rogue Web site. Therefore, even without Java installed if you had run a rogue updater for Adobe Flash or Reader, then you might have installed the trojan.
The trojan also affects Snow Leopard and prior versions of OS X (so far the code is known to be intel-only, but this is unconfirmed), but Apple has only issued patches for supported versions of the OS (version 10.6 or later).
Apple's removal tools run in OS X 10.6 or later if you instlal the Java update, and the standalone removal tool is for Lion only. Why Apple does not offer options for other operating systems is beyond me, but that's the way of things. I am using Snow Leopard on a MacBook. I have an iPod touch 3G. I do not use iSync it Mobile Me. When I sync my iPod through iTunes new events on my iPod do not show up on my Mac and old events do not delete. I have read help instructions that include deleting the data on the iPod. The iPod has the correct data and the Mac does not so I have not followed those instructions. I need help as the only reason I bought the Mac was to be able to sync, back up, view and print my calendar. Currently it is useless. If only Apple could have learned from the elegance of the Palm software.

We took 3 video cassette 8mm that were recorded in the early 90's to a place that burned the videos onto 3 DVDs. When inserted to our Mac, the DVD player comes on to play the DVD. Opened Quicktime, but can find no way to import. Went to File>Open File>Sony_DVD_Recorder_Volume. Clicked on Sony_DVD-Recorder_Volume and it shows a file named VIDEO_TS. Clicked on that and 6 files showed VIDEO_TS.BUP, VTS_01-0.BUP, VTS_01_0.IFO, VTS-01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, VTS_01_3.VOB. Where is DVDxDV?

CS4 "Save as Adobe PDF" not working in Mountain Lion

Just bought a new Mac with mountain lion, installed CS4 design premium twice trying to fix this. When you go to "print" then "Save as Adobe PDF" the process fails with a pop-up saying "An error occurred while saving the PDF file". I can still do the standard "Save as PDF" - but that usually results in a file size 10x larger than Save as Adobe PDF so it won't work for me; I need the small file sizes of Save as Adobe PDF.
When I go to Help > Repair Acrobat Installation it seems to be recognizing a repair needed with Adobe PDF Printer (see screenshot below); but when I go through the repair nothing changes it still won't work.
Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks for the link, but this is no help - I already have "Save As Adobe PDF" on the menu - the problem is when I click that it errors out...
I just think its sad that Adobe charges people $2000 and provides zero support for future updates; when I buy an iMac for half that amount of money or an iPhone I get operating system support and bug fix downloads to deal with the latest internet advances for years to come - but Adobe apparently takes your money and says sayonara! Is it really that hard to provide updates on $2000 worth of software for say 24 months??

Have you yet complained to St. Steve of Cupertino that Apple does so little to maintain application compatibility when they release new versions of their operating systems?
It is a primary rule of operating system development and maintenance that you maintain full compatibility with existing applications and not break such compatibility just for the purpose of being "neat and cool, cool and neat."
If you are willing to spend time and $$$$ to upgrade your operating system to a new and incompatible version, you should be prepared to also spend money for versions of applications that had to be seriously rejiggered to work with these incompatibilities.
Adobe didn't break compatibility, Apple did. Complain to them!
