I'm wondering were my favourites list went when I downloaded firefox ? Everything dissapeared when I changed from internet explorer

I had a list of sites that I regularly use for banking Gov't. agencies etc. etc. it was labeled my favourites whic I could add or delete at any time when I whent to my browser which happens to be google it apeared on the very left hand side of the screen. Since I have downloaded Firefox I cannot seem to find this list. Can anyone tell me where to look please?

You can usually find the imported IE Favorites in a folder ("From Internet Explorer") at the bottom of the Bookmarks Menu folder (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks).
If you can't find them in the "From Internet Explorer" folder then try this:
* Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
* Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File

  • How could I use FAVOURITES imported from Internet Explorer

I use Google Chrome. However I get adverts, which obstruct my work. As I cannot get rid of these adverts, I want to try Mozilla Firefox. I have imported favorites from Internet Explorer but I do not know how to use them. I do not see any button or icon for this purpose. I should be grateful for your help.

Web page have ads, and there are add-ons to suppress some of those if you find them troublesome.
Bad add-ons can inject additional ads into pages. Sometimes some "freeware" you install can include these ad injectors which then infect all of your browsers. If you suspect anything along those lines, here's my suggested procedure for tracking down and cleaning out bad add-ons. Sorry for the length -- it's not as bad as it sounds:
    (1) Open the Windows '''Control Panel''', Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
    (2) Open Firefox's '''Add-ons page''' using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click '''Plugins'''. Set nonessential and unrecognized plugins to "Never Activate".
In the left column, click '''Extensions'''. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions.
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
    Any improvement?
    (3) You can search for remaining issues with the '''scanning/cleaning tools''' listed in our support article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]]. These on-demand scanners are free and take considerable time to run. If they finish quickly and especially if they require payment, you may have a serious infection. I suggest the specialized forums listed in the article in that case.

  • If I change from Int Explorer will my favourites/bookmarks be saved automatically in Firefox?

My Internet Explorer continually crashes/freezes & I want to change to Firefox.
Will my favourites/bookmarks be saved automatically?

Firefox uses its own bookmarks that are kept separately from the IE Favorites in an SQLite database file called places.sqlite.
Firefox will offer to import the IE Favorites on the first start, so those will be available, but you may need to move them to the bookmarks toolbar for easier access.

  • How can I import my Favourites, cookies etcetera from Internet Explorer 9 into Firefox 7?

I used Internet Explorer 9 before, but I want to start using Firefox 7 as my standard browser, but I want to keep my old Favourites. How can I do that?

If Firefox doesn't offer to import the Opera bookmarks then export the bookmarks in Opera to an HTML file and import that file in Firefox.

  • Unable to save PDF's from Internet Explorer. Error "The document could not be saved. The disk you were saving to or the disk used for temporary files is full. Free some space on this disk and try again, or save to a different disk."

We are currently in a published desktop environment in Citrix XenApp 6.5.  Server is running on Windows 2008 R2.  Users are not able to save PDF's into the redirected folders (ie Desktop or My Documents).  Exactly same issue described in "The disk you were saving to or the disk used for temporary file is full...."  Anyone has any suggestion??

    Same problem here. Any ideas?
Saving with Shortcut "CRTL+SHIFT+S" works just fine.

  • Why were all of my Favorites not copied to Bookmarks when I downloaded Firefox?

All of my favorites were not copied to Bookmarks. Only favorites A-H show up in my Bookmarks, the rest of them are not there. Why did it not copy all of my Favorites?

If there are problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
If you do not have the menu bar in IE then right-click the toolbar at the top to enable the Menu Bar.

  • I have 1500 bookmarks that were transferred from Internet Explorer as favorites but they are now uncatagorised and unlabeled - how do I delete some of them or put them into groups?

I was using AOL 9 with Internet Explorer and saved 15oo Youtubes as "favorites". I changed to Firefox and upgraded to AOL 10 - my favorites now appear as bookmarks but they aren't arranged in groups (guitar, drums, blues, country, lessons...etc.) and there aren't names to identify them. Do I have to delete all of them and start afresh and if si - how do I delete some of them?

  • When I downloaded Firefox somehow Ask took over, its not not listed in programs, How can you remove it if you can't find it?

Ask.com took over as my browser, I don't want it, it inter fears width my email. & I got Firefox download for my browser, It makes everything slower also. I tried several different things recommended on web sights, nothing works.

Some of these toolbars and helpers are simpler to remove than others. Often they install global software that needs to be removed from the Windows control panel, rather than just from Firefox. (Sometimes the names are not obvious).
    * see [[Remove a toolbar that has taken over your Firefox search or home page]]
** the firefox reset feature mentioned in the above article may help, but it removes all your extensions, and personally I try to avoid using that.
Once any rogue software is uninstalled the Firefox settings are likely to need sorting out. Luckily there is a restartless add-on available that is often able to handle that part of the problem.

Post back with how you get on. Please give as much information as possible about what it is you installed, and what if anything you have found and removed.

  • When I upload favourites from Internet Explorer I only get the first two follders (out of 20 or so )

I have followed the help folder instructions and have attempted the upload three times with the same result.

If you have problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.<br />
That way you also preserve any sorting that you may have done in IE with the Favorites and the favorites won't end up in a "From Internet Explorer" folder, but will be appended at the end of the Bookmarks Menu folder.
    * Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
    * Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File

  • HT1600 Went through the download and update, but when I came back to the tv, it was a black screen with a no signal notice - and Apple TV had a flashing a light - it is over one hour - can I re-start?

How safe is it to pull the plug on the Apple TV after one hour of a flashing light?

No, sounds like when you dropped it an cracked the screen it may have also damaged the logic board or the repair person damaged a cable.
