I -Mac 24 inch LCD display

I would like to know the best resolution for (or default I guess) for the I-MAC 24 inch LCD display? Today I wanted to change the brightness as my eyes were feeling tired and in the process of doing too many things at once, I guess I inadvertently changed the resolution. I went through and tried about all of them.......but wanted to know which one is best?
ALSO, in the midst of this process of changing resolutions, I began to notice a blurry area at the bottom right of my display. As I said, my eyes were tired and I thought at first it was just me. But then it was like weird. I decided to power off the computer and see what it looked like with a black screen. I did this - and there was this odd whitish area almost resembling fog or condensation. But it is on the inside and hard to know what is going on. I left the computer off and kept checking back and this blurred, foggy whitish spot slowly disappeared. What is going on?

Thank you for your reply. I set the resolution and it is perfect.
As for that blurry fog that occurred that day ---- it has never happened again. I am wondering if this was a result of my inadvertently changing the resolution to something inappropriate and that part of the screen would have become black......and then when it got changed back MAYBE this whitish area was left behind for a while. Like I said it did slowly disappear.
I am planning to take my I-MAC in for a check very soon as I had the feeling during the summer months that it was overheating on occasion as it sometimes powered down on its own. So I will tell them about this as well.

  • Mac Mini LCD Display - finally got it working but....

    Hello,
I've posted on here many times about using the mac mini with my LCD display. The display runs at 60hz and a 640 x 480 resolution. For about four weeks, the mac mini would not connect to my screen. I installed display config x and had something of a result. By loading the mac mini up with my old pc monitor plugged in and then switching the vga plug once the mini was loaded, I managed to get a picture!
Just when I thought my troubles were over, I realised that when the mini went to sleep, if I woke it up I had exactly the same problem. I would have to plus it into my pc monitor, wake it up then switch it with my LCD VGA cable.
Is there anyway round having to do this every time I want to use my mini?
    Thanks
    Mark

Check out the manual for "Autoload" -- that's the name of the song file that's automatically loaded each time you start Logic or create a new file. You may want to look at some of the Peachpit books for walking you through creating this file to match your studio and workflow.
Use Caps Lock to bring up a little keyboard on the screen that you can play with your computer keyboard.
To change a track's icon, make sure you can see the track's info in the Arrange window. First select the track you want to work with. Pressing P toggles the properties column on the left. You may have to open up one of the areas using the little drop-down triangle thing, but you'll see an icon for the track in the properties area. Click and hold it to bring up a list of icons. You can create your own icons in the png format. Read the manual if you want to add your own images to Logic's standard icons.

  • 22 inch LCD, display getting darker

i know its old. but it was working fine till today. upper part of the screen is darker. and the power button on the lower left is blinking. what does this mean?

I ran into a similar issue and had an ADC to DVI adapter around. This fixed the issue as the display is now pulling power from the outlet rather than the ADC port.

  • Did any of the 17-inch Studio LCD displays have an S-Video input?

The subject line says it all.
I know that years ago I had an Apple LCD display that had an S-Video input, but I don't remember which model and size it was.
    Thanks for the help.
Macbook, Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I finally got the 17 inch display apart.
I took some pictures while it was apart, and I will put them on my iDisk as soon as I get around to it.
    Here are a few pointers:
    1. The 17 inch display is completely different from the 12 and 15 inch displays. Don't waste your money on any take apart guides for those models. They won't help you; they will only confuse you.
    2. The main source of difficulty in separating the back from the display is that it is held on by these fiendish spring-metal fingers that actually tighten their grip when you attempt to pull the back off.
    3. Don't use metal tools to pry the back off. You will scratch it, bend it, and damage the cables that run just inside where the case opens up.
    4. Wrap the cable ends in tissue and secure with tape to prevent them from scratching the screen while you wrestle with the display.
    5. Start working from the hinged end of the display. The fingers down at this end come loose fairly easily, and the hinge prevents the screen from flexing as you pry the back away, thus preventing the screen from cracking.
    6. Use plastic putty knives , popsicle sticks or tongue depressors to pry the back away from the screen and shim the opening. Slide them along or insert new ones as you go.
    7. As you open up the gap between the aluminum back and the gray plastic trim ring, look inside for the bright metal spring clips. They will be hidden behind tabs projecting from the gray plastic trim ring. Take a small jeweler's screwdriver and carefully pry the edge of the spring clip outward and towards the back. Be careful not to pierce the Airport cable which is strung around the outside of the display very close to these clips.
    8. Once you have release the spring clips from the bottom and both sides of the display, slide the back up and off of the display assembly. Set the back aside and place the display assembly face down on the work table.
    Whew!
You are now ready to proceed with repairs to the display assembly.

  • I had brought the Mac book pro 15 inch retinal display in nov. 2013 in USA. I lost my luggage in the flight transit at Paris CDG. Now I can't install windows 8.1 which I brought from same store frys at LA, USA. Pl. help. Thanks gyanesh

    Dear friends
I had brought this Mac book pro 15 inch retinal display and windows 8.1 and then I left to India my home place for vacation now my problem is during flight transit at Paris CDG. For flight change. My luggage got lost and I had to leave for India. On reaching I waited for 6 days daily going to the Mumbai airport and enquiry but now I am stuck I can't work using windows software s for designing engg.
Can someone tell me a better way how can I install windows if I don't have the driver CDs?
Thanks in advance.  Sb sob sob
    Pl. help. Thanks

Reinstall OSX using the online recovery.
Then use Boot Camp Assistant. One of the Boot Camp Assistant menu items is download the Windows Support Software (drivers). Make sure you follow the Boot Camp instructions.
Or, Reinstall OSX using the online recovery.
Then install a virtual machine like Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox. Then install Windows in the virtual machine.
You can use either Boot Camp or a virtual machine to install Windows. Neither method requires any driver cds.

can i use Apple 2005 20-inche cinema display on Mac pro ?

If the display has a DVI connector it will plug into the Mac Pro directly.  If it uses ADC (Apple Display Connector)
    <http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/09/AppleDisplayConnector.jpg>
you will need a DVI to ADC adapter

  • Can I replace 15 inch retina display that broke on my sons Mac , if so how much

Can I replace 15 inch retina display that broke on my sons Mac , if so how much

You will have to take it to an Apple store genius bar and talk with the techs, or take it to an Apple Authorized Service Provider and get their estimate.  Typical is on the order of $500 in the US.
This is not a user replaceable item, doing so will void any warranty and all further support from Apple.  They are pretty emphatic about that no further support thing so be sure to use an authorized repair service.

  • Mac pro and viewsonic vp930b lcd display

mac pro and viewsonic vp930b lcd display
i have two monitors set up, a viewsonic vp191b and a vp930b lcd, connected via both dvi ports on the mac pro. the vp930b when the computer goes to sleep cycles on and off with the input message. if i put the mac pro to sleep via the menu sleep command, the last graphic/image on that monitor flashes on and off until i power the unit off, then it cycles on and off with the input message.
the problem is, the mac pro is not letting the display enter full low power mode and is sending some kind of signal still causing a cycle. the monitor works fine on other computers, the G5 i had pervious, and others i test. i tried switching ports and re-routing the cables, same result, the vp930b is still not allowed to enter full low power mode and starts an endless cycle of the monitor going from low power mode back the input mode. i reset the pram yet again and it still occurs. i tested the dvi cable and dvi port of the monitor on a macbook pro, the only other intel mac i have and it worked perfect. i can only conclude my macpro is either defective or incompatible with my viewsonic vp930b lcd display. anyone else using a viewsonic vp930b lcd display with a macpro 2.66. holidays suck when you are having tech issues.

i tried that. it is only the one display, if i switch ports on the card, it still only does it to the same monitor. since it does not do it when the computer is off or starting up, the second monitor 2 port does not come on until the the login screen is near, and flashes an image on the screen, i know it is somewhere in the hardware or software. the mac pro is sending some signal to the vp930b still when it should not be. i know the displays and mac pro communicate with each other via the dvi link, so it is unique to this display.

  • MacBook Pro  17 inch:  LCD or Hi-Res LED display?

I plan to upgrade to the new MB Pro 17 inch in the next couple of weeks. Is the hi-res LED screen worth the upgrade over the standard LCD version? I do not need the hi-res, but I understand the battery life and overall image brightness and quality is better with the LED. Do you find the font size to be too small with the hi-res screen? I would appreciate any input or suggestions.
    Thanks.

At the risk of being pedantic, I just want to clarify some of the terms used in your post.
LCD = liquid crystal display. This is not a lighting technology, but is instead the image-forming part of the display through which light shines. All currently manufactured Apple displays use this technology (as opposed to CRT, DLP, or OLED).
LED = light emitting diode. As these are currently used in computer displays, these are not used to form an image. They are used as the light source, particularly in newer displays over the traditional CCFT (cold cathode fluorescent tube) technology, which is basically a long, thin, and fragile "light bulb." LEDs are solid state, have much longer usable lifetimes, are more color-stable, and have better efficiency than CCFTs.
The two technologies, put together, form the majority of the display itself. The LEDs shine light onto a reflective backing, which then bounces the light through the LCD, producing the image you see.
From what I can tell, the 17" screen comes in two types: (1) 1680 x 1050 CCFT, and (2) 1920 x 1200 LED. Both are LCD displays--it is the lighting technology and resolution that are different.

  • What is best way to get LCD display for Mac mini?

Just got Mac Mini but when I connect it to my Samsung LCD the display quality is crap.  What is the best way to get HD resolution, (maximum quality) from this set up?

    Thanks,
I did try all of the settings on the LCD display.  It is 1,920 x 1,080 pixels.  Built in 2011 by Samsung as a HD TV, computer monitor and audio/video combo.  I just let the Mac mini select the appropriate settings when I did initial startup last night.  I It came with an HDMI to DVI adapter which (to me) implies I need to get the male end of the DVI adapter to connect to the 9 pin (PC input).  Current HDMI is working but just not the "wow factor" that I expected from the Mac mini.  Compatibiltiy issue of some kind; input/output, settings, software update, or user error   Was trying to avoid getting a new monitor.

I'm not sure where on the internet or which store you mean -- but if you mean an Apple advertisement on the internet and an Apple Store, note that there was an ad for MacBooks that showed them with a variety of stickers but Apple does't sell the stickers and not all of the ones shown in the ad were commercially available.

  • Powerbook with Syntax Olevia 23-inch LCD TV Monitor

    Hi there,
I got a 23-inch LCD TV Monitor from Syntax Olevia and somehow it doenst work with my powerbook.
The thing is when I connected it to my windows laptop, it worked just fine, I should say perfectly instead. Then I tried it on my Powerbook 12-inch, the Mac recognized the display, there was a VGA display on but when I turned the display on, it says 'NO PC SIGNAL'. You know, I'm ****** !
I have been on the phone with Syntax Tech Support for an hour, then with Apple for another hour, they suggested me to do everything try to get it works, everything they could find, everything within thier knownledge.... COULDNT CHANGE ANYTHING!
So the last thing the Apple guy suggested me is post a topic question here, to see what everyone says and if somebody out there has got the same problem, please do reply so, even you got it worked or not, just reply so I can have some experience. It might be compatibility problem but I don't know, not with a monitor I would say.
So here the LCD name and brand:
    - Olevia 23-inch LT23HVX by Syntax.
I would appreciate for any answer, I'm looking forward to it.
    Thanks all
    Powerbook G4 12' Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    Hi,
I'm not familiar with that monitor, but its resolution might be higher than your PowerBook can handle. I have a first-generation 12-inch PowerBook, and it seems that it can't run any of the Apple Studio monitors currently being sold. If that monitor can display a resolution of 1024 x 768, try that, as your PowerBook can certainly handle that resolution. Another thing to try is to see if you can find a friend or coworker who has a similar PowerBook (or any other Mac), so you can try connecting the monitor to that machine to see if there is a similar problem. If no Mac can drive it, you would probably have a good excuse for returning the monitor.
    Hope this helps,
    Ken
