imac Mac OS X (10.6.3) wireless keyboard and mouse

Hi and welcome to Discussions,
see the System Requirements for Windows Vista here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1899
Macs that support Windows Vista 64-bit http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1846
Which one is better for you, simply comes down to whether you have Windows programs that require 64-bit and/or if you have more than 4GB of RAM in your Mac.
The amount of diskspace you need depends on you useage of Windows Vista.
For Vista alone around 30GB is advisable. Add to that the amount of diskspace needed by the Windows programs you use and the files you work on.
During the installation of Windows and the BootCamp Drivers it is strongly advised to use wired-keyboard and mouse.
After that the wireless Apple keyboard/mouse should work quite fine.
Parallels is not needed for a BootCamp Windows installation. It's a completely seperate product/solution for running Windows on a Mac.

  • Share filing between Mac and  Windows Vista

    Hello,
I am trying to file share my iBook and Vista.
On my I book under Finder >>>Network>> I see my computer name "Computer-PC" but the icon is grayed out.
When I click on it it says:
The Alias "Computer-PC" Could not opened, because the original item cannot be found. Then it gives me 3 choices
Delete Alias, Fix Alias , OK
I hit OK it does nothing
I hit Fix Alias, Then it ask me to choose an item to open. I dont know what to open????
I do not want to Delete Alias.
Also I tried to connect Vista and it does see the IBook on the network, but then when I try to connect It asks for the user name and password of my iBook
I verified this by reading the support docs on the Apple website.
System Preference >>>Systems >>>Accounts >> verified and changed password.
Still no luck. Can someone give me some advice? Thanks!!

There are more than a few threads on the topic across the web; so I guess a search
would be in order and some sorting of results to enable a wise choice from them.
There's also the Apple Help built into OS X and some ideas present themselves.
Firewall changes would probably be necessary, and the Sharing (system preference)
panel has some access settings for some of this sort of thing.
(The closest I have been to sharing between a Windows machine and a Mac, is when
I let a few Windows machines mistakenly given to me to troubleshoot & repair, were
brought into my space and they temporarily shared a workbench. I found out what
was wrong with them (outside of the poor quality & shabby OS) -- and out they went!)

  • Mac and Windows Vista

    Hi
I have a mac mini with OSX 10.4.8.
I am looking forward to buy a laptop with windows vista.
The reason why I am interested in buying a windows based laptop is because my work environment is windows and windows based laptops are cheaper.
Could you enlighten me about compatiblity of these two OS in the form of file sharing, syncronisation, communication via blue tooth, wireless and network between them. Is there any specific features I should look for in the hardware.
    Thanks
    C. Badrakumar

Try reading this for file sharing.

I know alot of people are having problems with getting Vista nd OS X to work, XP had relatively few problems. Hopefully Leopard fixes this.

  • Soundfont Bank Manager and Windows Vista/Seven (64 bits)

    Hi everyone !
Well I own a SB Audigy SE, running on Windows 7/Vista in 64 bits architecture. The fact is, when I try to launch the SF Bank Manager, I do have an error message : "SoundFont bank manager initialization failure".
I tried to run it in various compatibility modes (XP, Vista, etc ), nothing works. The SB audigy SE is SoundFont .x and 2.x compatible, so I don't understand why it does not work.
Does a version of the SF Bank Manager exist for 64 bits versions of Vista/Seven
PS : the same kind of problem appears with Vienna SF Editor (latest version) : the software does not find any "SoundFont compatible" device.

Going on what Daniel has posted here,
    http://forums.creative.com/showthread.php?==4440
I would take it to mean that the SBM only works on XP. Might be worth asking in that thread, and hopefully he can answer you better.

  • ITunes and Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit

Is there an iTunes version that is compatible with the 64-bit version of Windows Vista Ultimate? If so, can you please let me know?

I have iTunes 7.3.2.6 running on Ultimate Vista 64. I initially had problems with it recognizing my DVD-RW but eventually found a solution in this group related to the GEAR drivers.
The only problem that remains is not recognizing the current user as administrator unless you "launch as administrator." But this has not affected performance.
BTW, when application developers list "32-bit Vista" under system requirements, this does not mean that 64-bit Vista versions can't run it, it only means that it's not a 64-bit app. Vista 64 is designed to run 32-bit apps.

  • Photoshop CS2 and Windows Vista 64 bit

I have just loaded Photoshop CS2 onto my new laptop which has Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit as its OS.
All working well except I notice that, when I made adjustments to a layer (for example, using curves to colour adjust,or even just brighten midtones),it takes a long time for any change to take place to the values of colour sample points which I may have applied to the background layer.
I usually place four colour sample points on my background image to monitor changes as I make adjustments.  When I used Photoshop CS2 on my previous laptop which had Windows XP as its OS,changes were instant.
I have the cache level set at 6 in Preferences with 70% available RAM set.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Ian

    A couple more ideas:
Make sure CS2 is fully updated. In Vista, turn the Aero interface on and off to see if it makes a difference.
Try the old standby of resetting preferences, as described in the FAQ.
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.ef4a07f/1
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

  • Is there an external hard disc that will work with Mac OS10.4.11 and Windows Vista?

Is there an external hard disc that will work with both Mac (OS10.4.11) and Windows (Vista)?

For NTFS on Mac, there are both open-source and commercial solutions. See:

For HFS+ Drivers for Windows, there is only one:

  • T500 with Windows Vista Business 64-bit ---- AND NO SOLITAIRE

Does anyone know how I can get my "waiting pacifier", the very standard SOLITAIRE, that I have been playing for over 10 years? I want to install this on my Windows Vista Business 64-bit T500 notebook? I am not interested in buying a more fancy version of this.

They're not installed by default on Vista Business edition, but they can easily be added:

  • Is Magic Mouse compatible with PC and Windows Vista

Hello to everyone, I'm a new member of this forum, I hope someone will help me, please.
I'm taking a look at the latest beautiful Apple's product and I felt in love with Magic Mouse, I'd like to have it for ma PC (not a Mac) with OS Vista.
Is there anyboby who knows if this mouse is compatible with a Pc and Windows Vista OS?
Actually I don't have bluetooth thecnology on my pc but if Magic Mouse were compatible I'd buy an usb adaptor.
Thanks to everyone will help e!

I asked a similar question a few hours back and no answers yet. I think nobody knows since nobody has had the chance to test them. If previous releases are any indication, you'll probably get basic functionality because it is bluetooth, but for the advanced features or setting options you'll have to wait for a Windows driver, which can sometimes take a few months or more.

  • In Windows Vista business 64 bits...Itunes can't load data information class...

Can't sync Iphone 4 with Itunes versión 10.7.0.21, in Windows Vista business 64 bits. Already tried uninstalling and reinstalling and also finding sqlite3.dll and the other dll... and nothing. Renamed the sycservices folder and nothing, copied corefoundations.dll and folder to system32 and nothing...
This is becoming very annoying... any tips?.
    Thanks.

    Hi!,
Thanks for your reply but I keep having the problem. I've been investigation through the Internet and I beleive is a COM situation or something is in conflict with iTunes, either way I manage to compare a similar environment (Win Vista 64 bits Business with iTunes running) and figured out that process "Syncserver.exe" is not running and neither is running "ATH.exe".
I'm reading more about what could possible causing these two process from being executing as they should.
        Thanks.

  • Burning issues with itunes and Windows Vista Ultimate

I recently purchased a new computer with Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit version. Since loading itunes on my new computer I can not burn a CD. The message that I receive says that there is no burner available. I know the burner works because I have burned music out of different software programs. I have loaded and reloaded Nero 7 but I am finding that is not the problem. Itunes does not recognize any type of CD burner on my computer. Any thoughts?
    Thanks

    paul's onto it.
if you run your DVD/CD diagnostics (in itunes "help > DVD/CD diagnostics", select DVD/CD diagnostics) and you see a 2380 error showing up down near the bottom of the diagnostics (you may need to scroll down a bit), try reinstalling the 64-bit version of the GEAR drivers iTunes uses for importing and burning.
here's a link through to the GEAR drivers. note that there are two different versions of the 64-bit drivers. be sure to get the one that matches your hardware:

  • Can i use time capsule as external hard drive for both mac and windows

I have a mac book pro, ipad and iphone and ipod and a windows pc
Can i use time capsule as a external hard disk only for all of the above ( including windows ) without the back up activity for mac ?

You cannot access the TC from iOS devices without a browser. eg filebrowser.
Can i use time capsule as a external hard disk only for all of the above ( including windows ) without the back up activity for mac ?
Yes, with the following proviso.. the TC is not able to back itself up.. so if you store files on the TC without backups one day you will discover all your files are gone because of a hard drive failure of the TC. TM also cannot backup TC.. so you will need to buy a proper backup software.
It is also much slower than a real NAS..
And windows can be a bit painful.. especially windows 8.. other versions should work if you spend the time getting everything set right.

  • Installing Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit on Bootcamp issue

Hi I'm a newbie, I would like to install Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit using boot camp. I went into boot camp to partition and split the 1 terabyte hardrive. half is for Leopard, the other half is for Windows Vista.
I followed the steps and popped in the disk, awhile later I get a message saying "Where do you want to install Windows?"
    It's showing:
    Disk 0 Partition 1 200 mb primary
    Disk 0 Partition 2 466 gb Primary
Disk 0 unallocated space 128 mb
Disk 0 partition 3 Boot camp 464 gb Primary.
which ever one I click on it says "Windows Cannot be installed to this hard disk space. Windows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS"
I can't get passed this part, what do I do?
    Any help is greatly appreciated

    Hi Stuart,
Vista needs its system partition to be formatted with NTFS.
The BootCamp Asistant does a pre-format with FAT32 since OSX can not write to NTFS partitions (only read).
Therefor you have to reformat the Windows partition with the Vista Installer to NTFS.
See page 11 of the BootCamp Setup Guide found here http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/ (and it's also part of the BootCamp Assistant).

    Stefan
