Try:

I managed to boot the computer and get the desktop to show. I now have a "repaired" computer. There are several problems that have cropped up. One is that I can only start up now in Safe Boot mode. Is there a way to turn it off? Also, I do not have a sound list, so I can't access anything requiring audio. Google Chrome only shows up as a white screen. Pictures that loaded before don't load in browsers, etc. Any suggestions? I figure I should reinstall Mac OS Lion for starts, maybe even do a mirror backup and reformat the drive. I think this drive has turned into scrambled eggs...what a headache!

My macbook pro decided to give a different res and a horizontal line follows my cursor (like a diagnostic mode or something) i have shutdown/restrted. Fixed the res but the cursor problem still exists any help please.

I was using my mac as normal and then my resultion on mr screen changed which i have fixed using the normal methods but i still continue on getting a horizontal line whereever my cursor is even after i have restarted and shut down. The line is a white colour but my other screens seem dulled wherever this line is not following it is not a solid white. It looks like its in a diagnostic mode or somthing. It is possible there is a problem with the computer's graphics, but try a simple fix. viz. reset the NVRAM / PRAM.
Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

First run a print quality test. If that passes perfectly install the latest driver for the printer, even if you already have the latest driver installed.
If the print test results are not perfect run nozzle cleaning routines until results are perfect.
Sometimes an ink cartridge will fail, but before replacing an expensive cartridge run nozzle cleaning and print testing a dozen times.

Sometimes when I open my laptop back from sleep, I get a black screen with the cursor showing.

Recently I've been getting this weird problem where my macbook air will show a black screen with only the cursor visible that I can move around but nothing else can be done to get to the desktop. The only way is to close the lid and wait for around 10 or more seconds and then open the lid again to bring the laptop back from sleep and hope that the laptop goes to the lock screen and then to the desktop. This works often but sometimes the only solution seems to be to restart the laptop. This also happens when I tilt the lid to the point where it is almost closed and when I tilt it back the screen presents the above state. Theis has been happening often now and it is almost impossible for the above not to happen atleast 2 to 3 times a day. iThis is a relatively new problem that has been occuring since the past two weeks or so and never happened to me on my Macbook Pro 15 2011. My current system is a Macbook Air 11" 2013 Haswell 1.3 Ghz 4GB RAM 256 GB SSD. Now I dont want to have to send in my laptop if I dont have to if there is a way I can solve this myself. Anybody else have this problem?

I would be concerned too if my MacBook Air was not waking from sleep appropriately. For an issue like this, I recommend resetting your System Management Controller (SMC) and NVRAM.
Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own
Note: Portable computers that have a battery you should not remove on your own include MacBook Pro (Early 2009) and later, all models of MacBook Air, and MacBook (Late 2009).
Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

Weird lines follow mouse cursor... (PICS)

I have a iMac 2.4Ghz and it has weird lines that follow the mouse cursor at all times. Does anybody have suggestions as of what it could be? Computer is out of warranty.

Before concluding it is hardware related (which is possible), I would start up from a different system (such as your Mac OS X installation disc). If that makes the problem go away, you can try to further isolate the cause by booting normally and creating a new admin user account using System Preferences Accounts pane.

Log out and log in to the new account. In the new account, do you see this problem. Since the new account uses default user preference settings (and does not have any third-party background processes), if the problem goes away, there must be something in your normal user account that is the cause.

How do I get an image to follow the cursor on an applet?

I'm trying to create a applet which has a bullseye on it and when the cursor moves across it the image(bullseye) follows it but I have no idea how to do this. I know I have to use the mouseMoved event. Also how do I have a JPanel covered by a image? Please help.

Actually, have a look at the Toolkit.createCustomCursor() method. It'll do it for you. I got it to work using:

Drop box problems -- black lines I can't get rid of

Hi there,
When I drop any 16:9 footage into a drop box I've created (in an anamorphic project) I get small black lines to the left and right of the footage, even though the drop box is supposed to be 16:9 too.
None of the options Fit, Center, or Stretch allow me to get rid of them. Is this something I just have to live with? I can't see a way of cropping the drop box to disguise them.

Black Line around thumbs

Any idea why I am getting a black line around rows of thumbnails. On a Mac/Intell CS3, latest update of Bridge as well.
I can open fine, just curious about the black line.

This means that the cache and/or preview has not build itself. Try the purge cache for folder using tools - cache - purge cache for folder.
Depending on the number of files it takes less or more time to rebuild. See also the info down left in the window. This shows the number of files visible and hidden, and if building cache and preview the two arrows are acting like a spinning wheel and also a percentage is showing how much work is done.

HP Laserjet Pro MFP M12fn, printing a solid black line on every paper

I'm running windows 7 professional. I haven't received any error messages and nothing out of the oridarny has happened. My printer/scanner/fax/copy (My HP Laserjet Pro MFP M12fn, product # CZ181A) is printing with a black line down the entire paper, but its only doing it thru the feeder and not on the glass. HELP, How can I fix this?

I read your post, which indicates that you are getting a black line down the page when using the feeder. You can print fine from the glass. I can help you with this.
I would do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Clean the scanning glass and platen.
Turn the printer off.
Disconnect the power cord from the product and the wall outlet.
Open the scanner lid.
Clean the following scanner areas with a soft cloth or sponge that has been moistened with nonabrasive glass cleaner.
Main scanner glass.
Small scanner glass to the left of the main scanner glass.
White plastic backing.
Dry the glass and white plastic backing with a chamois or a cellulose sponge to prevent spotting.
Plug the power cord into the product and the wall outlet.
Turn the printer on.
Try to make another copy.
If you are still having issues, then update the printer's firmware.

Selection outline is black line instead of marching ants?

Hi,
I'm making a selection using the Quick Selection tool and the outline is a black line, not the usual marching ants. I also tried drawing a shape with the rounded rectangle tool to make a manilla folder, so the tab had to overlap. I could not get the black line on the overlapping tab to go away. Is there any way to change this? How did it happen in the first place?

I am not certain I understand you but I think you are using one of the shape tools which will create a shape layer and the shape is a path.
In order to make the path a selection you go to the Path panel and while the path is selected with the Path Selection Tool (Black Arrow) or selecting the path in
Path panel go to the bottom of the panel and hit the icon to make the path a selection as show or command or control click on the path in the panel.
Or you can right click or control click on the path in the document window and choose to make selection from the contextual menu.
I see you used the rounded rectangle tool so you are using a shape tool.
