I-MAC POWER pcG5 10.5.8 I-MOVIE VIDEO COMPRESSION?

I download photos and video files to i-photo with no problem.  I open i-movie (old version) and drag video file in.
If I SHARE to email the video is VERY SMALL.  If i share to quicktime the file is too big for Cox internet service to handle.
I don't have an Intel model so I can't upgrade to i-life which I assume has an upgrade version of i-movie.
So, I am stuck with great photos but can't get an UTUBE size video uploaded to email or the web.
I probably need to bypass Apple and get software that can handle the proper compression for email and the net but
cannot find.
Any help would be appreciated.
regards,  brian toomey

Contact Skype and ask what file sharing ports need to be opened on your router and System Preferences Sharing.  Frequently that resolves such issues.

The Magsafe autoswitches based on detected power.  You will likely need a wall adapter to alter ther US-based 3-prong to whatever is used in China.

  • Is a Mac Power PC (not Intel) on OSX 10.5.8 compatible with FF4?

I have a Mac Power PC G5 (i.e. pre Intel) and I am using OSX 10.5.8. My current Firefox is 3.6.24 and they tell I should upgrade, I guess to FF 4, but tech. spec. recommends Mac Intel. Is a Power PC compatible with FF4? Thanks

No, Firefox 3.6.x. is the last version of Firefox from Mozilla for PPC Mac's.
    For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4+ versions, try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 . <br />

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox

When you install one of the above it will use your existing bookmarks etc

My apologies, I read your post the wrong way. I see now that the original poster was confused about the specs and you were simply responding with the appropriate info.
I've gotten defensive after reading the forums. The forums are full of posters just looking to prove someone wrong or stupid, rather than being helpful. I shouldn't have assumed you were one of those people. Sorry.
I did my homework and discovered that my PowerPC will run Leopard. It can be purchased for $129 by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE. This is much cheaper than replacing my laptop.
I hope to upgrade my Mac soon, though! Can't believe this thing is still ticking. I love Apple.

  • Adobe flash player 11.7 exists for mac power PC?

I have a Mac Power PC with leopard 10.5.5 and I need Adobe Flash Player 11.7.

Not really possible, but there may be a workaround:
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version,10.3.183.23 or later, is for Intel Macs only running Tiger or Leopard, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.4.402.265 is for Snow Leopard onwards.
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. Flash Player 10.1.102.64 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, try the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the version 11.5.502.55:)
Download this http://scriptogr.am/nordkril/post/adobe-flash-11.5-for-powerpc to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

I have purchased a new Mac power book 10.9.2.  I cannot open adobe illustrator CS4 and get the error message 150:30.  Can you help?

    You are welcome, Sharon.
You should be aware that the newest version, CC, is only available as a subscription.
CS6 can be purchased at Adobe, or second hand, see below.
Older versions such as CS5 can only be bought second hand, with a licence transfer through Adobe, requiring that the licence has not been used as a basis for an upgrade.

  • Backup iTunes playlists on Mac Power PC G4, OS 10.4.11to Lacie Starck external hard drive

I have a Mac Power PC G4, OS 10.4.11, and have recently bought my first external hard drive, a LaCie Starck.
I have my iTunes seperated into convenient playlists: is it just a matter of creating a script for each individual playlist in Intego Backup Assistant (I don't have Intego Backup Manager Pro); and If so, is it best to click on 'click to choose source' or 'drag a volume, a folder or a file' in the Backup Assistant window ? Or is there a better, or easier, way of doing it ?

  • Flash and Mac Power PCs..

    Hi Everyone,
I am having a problem with my dual GHz G5 power PC mac and Flash. Recently, all of a sudden sites that use flash have been causing both firefox (3.6.21) and safari to crash so I decided to uninstall flash and download the most up to date version (I have up until recently been offline for a while). Obviously then I discovered that flash for power PCs is not made any more so I had to download the most recent PPC version (10.1 I believe). However, now that I have installed this, the same problem keeps happening.
Does this mean that I am unable to get the right version of flash and that my G5, which is only 6 years old, will now be largely unable to properly browse the net? I know that Macs now use intel processors but surely I have some option?!
    Thanks in advance guys

    Hi,
Thanks for the advice, but I have already done this but it doesn't seem to be working properly. When I click on the flash install icon a box appears with the adobe logo and two smaller boxes inside that are clickable, but that have no writing on them. There is also a smaller box to the left of the larger one that I an click on and make a tick appear, which then allows me to click on the right hand box. I am then asked to type in my password and then it takes me to a progress bar but still absolutely no text..
I have no idea whats going wrong! Any other ideas?!
    Thanks in advance

You are correct that the latest version of Flash Player no longer supports PPCs.  However, you can grab the last release of Flash Player to support PPC here:

  • Multi devlepers to work through remote desktop on mac power?

    Hello.
is it possible 2~3 devlepers to develop the iPhone application through remote desktop on a mac power?
if it is possible, please let me know the way.
    thanks

    Hi,
A connection was forcibly closed by a peer. This normally results from a loss of the connection on the remote socket due to a timeout or a restart. On a datastream socket, the
connection was reset. This reset could be generated locally by the network system when it detects a connection failure, or it might be received from the remote host (in TCP terms, the remote host sent an RST packet). This error is also possible on a datagram
socket; for instance, this error could result if your application sends a UDP datagram to a host, which rejects it by responding with an ICMP Port Unreachable.
    Please check the following:
    1. Ping the remote host you were connected to. If it does respond, this problem might have been a transient one (so you can reconnect now), or the server application you were
connected to might have terminated (so you might not be able to connect again).
    2. Type tracert at the command prompt to determine the path to the host you were connected to. This won't reveal too much unless you know the router addresses at the remote end,
but it might help to identify if the problem is somewhere along the way.
    3. Check if there is any related error log in the server side.
    Thanks.

  • When my desktop (Mac Power 5) starts a folder comes up with 2 heads which changes to a question mark. Does anyone know how to fix this.?

My Husband turned his desktop off without shutting down now When my desktop (Mac Power G5) starts up  a folder comes up with 2 heads which changes to a question mark. Does anyone know how to fix this.?

Step 1- Try booting to Startup Manager by holding Option/Alt key.
Select the boot source and click the right arrow.
Once booted, open System Preferences and select the desired boot volume.
Replacing the PRAM battery is likely wise if the machine keeps forgetting it's boot source.
    If that doesn't work,
Step 2-  Boot holding a mouse click, insert the OS X install disc and hold C to boot to the install disc.
Once booted, open Disk Utility and "Repair Disk" on the boot drive.
    Once done, reboot normally.

All synced content will be lost if you re-pair your library, any content that hadn't been transferred isn't synced content (excepting for the avoidance of doubt that purchased items that have been transferred back and then synced back to the Apple TV are synced content not content that has yet to be transferred.
You cannot use your Apple TV with your new library unless you pair it with the library.
