I want to move music from my i-mac to my mac book pro. Please can you tell me how to do this (in very simple language - limited mac literacy!). thank you

Another way, not mentioned, is to subscribe to iTunes Match ($25 per year). With iTunes Match enabled, your iTunes Music library is in "iCloud." Your iMac will still have all the song files, but they will also be available from iCloud. You can then download any song (or all songs) in your music library from iCloud to your MacBook, or stream it to your MacBook wherever it has an Internet connection (so the songs don't take up storage space on MacBook).
If you later decide to stop subscribing to iTunes Match, the downloaded song files on your MacBook that came through iTunes Match will still work.

If you purchased Lion for your iMac, just log into the Mac App Store from your MacBook using the Apple ID under which you purchased Lion and go to the Purchases page. You will be able to download and install Lion there.

The only place you get get Lion is from the Mac App Store. If you found some other site, that was an illegal copy and almost certainly tied to someone else's Apple ID and hence unusable by you. If the link was just to the Mac App Store, see above.
As to the problem with synchronization to iCloud, that's not a 10.6 question, so I'd suggest you take up that specific issue in either the Lion or iCloud forums, providing full details, and someone there can probably help you sort things out.

how do you permanently delete apps from all your mac products (MacBook Pro, iPad, iPhone)
They are not taking up storage space. Apple knows you installed them at one time (="purchased", whether you paid money or not), and merely keeps a list so that if you wish to reinstall any of them on this or a future device, you can. This is useful if maybe you deleted them due to space constraints, and now have a device with more memory and wish to reinstall.
It's also useful for taking a trip down Memory Lane looking at all the useless apps you installed once then immediately deleted once you realized they were total garbage ... -
PDF form in mac and macbook pro

Are there any known issues opening and filling a PDF form created in Windows 7 on a MAC or Macbook Pro? I occasionally get
users who cannot open the form. Not sure of the exact OS they are using but they have advised they have updated to the latest

I'm guessing it's not possible, but can you use the macbook pro music buttons (F7, F8, and F9) to control applications other than itunes? Like pandora or grooveshark?

I have a personal Macbook Pro, which I have had for a very long time. My iTunes account has a lot of music from CD's but also has a lot of purchased music. I also have a Macbook Air for work and have purchased a lot of music on this computer using the same iTunes account. Is there a way to get the music to show up on both computers being that they are from the same account?

If you want to be abe to download all your music from iCloud, you will need to sign up for iTunes match, that will upload or match all your music between your two machines, including your ripped CDs. -
Mac Mini & MacBook Pro with Identical Libraries - Will Match work?

This is the scenario:-
I have a Mac Mini & a MacBook Pro, both machines have identical Music libraries kept in sync using the automatic downloads function within iTunes (I only buy music from iTunes) This is great as I can ensure that anything I download to my Mini is also available on the MBP. However it does not keep the Play Count in sync which would be fantastic if it could also I would like a little more piece of mind when it comes to backing up my library so I am considering iTunes Match.
Question:-
If I enable iTunes match on my MBP and let it do its thing, when I enable it on the Mini will there be any issues I should be concerned about and will it keep both libraries intact and keep the play count in sync accross both machines?
Thanks in advance!Congratulations, because if you do, indeed purchase only from iTunes and haven't added anything from CD, you are the ideal customer for Match. Your music should all be in the "purchased" category. This is good for you in several ways:
(1) your first Match session should go pretty quickly. What bogs things down are numerous tracks that are neither purchased nor matched, thus need to upload.
(2) the number of tracks you have that might get tagged as "ineligible" is probably going to be very low. There is a fix for most ineligible tracks (making an AAC version in iTunes), but it's a hassle you might be able to avoid.
(3) the 25,000 limit applies to everything - except purchased tracks. So if you had 24,999 purchased tracks and one "match" you could still add 24,999 from CDs if you wanted to in the future. You'd also have access to those purchased tracks in a matter of minutes. Uploading the same number, well, people are reporting days . . .
Not certain what might happen to your play counts. I understand some of that gets nulled out for some people, but perhaps in your case it won't be an issue.
Finally, I echo Michael when he suggests you not look at the cloud as a reliable backup. Even if you were willing to trust that it would always be there for you, there are enough reports of songs being mis-matched that it would be foolish to assume what's in the cloud is really identical to what you have on your Mini and MacBook Pro. -
New to Mac: My Pro does sleep, power on or power off consistently or efficiently. It freezes into a never ending spool. I have to press down the power off button to reset. I have updated my software.

Find my Mac says MacBook Pro does not have WiFi?
Hello everybody, having a bit of an annoying problem at the moment so I hope you can all help. I'm trying to set up find my mac via iCloud but can't seem to get it working. I've enabled Find My Mac under my iCoud settings on my mac but even after enabling it i get an error that says: "This Mac can't be located because it does not have Wi-Fi. You can still lock or wipe this Mac." Anybody have any idea how to fix this? My MacBook Pro obviously does have Wi-Fi and is connected to a Wi-Fi Network so I don't see how this error even rmeotely makes sense.

It's not the recent e-mails which I'm worried about.
They can stay on the server until I've resolved my OLD e-mails, 99% of which are long deleted from their servers.
I'm deliberately keeping Mail offline until I've retrieved my 20 year e-mail history, all of which has been put into sub-folders within sub-folders within sub-folders.
I've got to get my e-mail history back.

Apparently the Macbook Pro is the equal to your Power Mac. Take a look at this podcast. The Macbook Pro was 40% faster then the Power Mac 2 Ghz in Java encoding.
