Find out from your son how he did it and roll it back. Without some plist manual editing or via other 3rd party tools, that graphic cannot be changed. Your easy path for fixing this is to simply ask your son in a non-confrontational way... and you will even learn something he knows and you do not. I know there's some tools out there that can do this, but I haven't done the legwork to dig them up, much less a trustworthy one. Chances are good he read something on how to hack that on the system and made the change. All you have to do is gain access to that same knowledge and presto, problem solved.
No, him saying "I don't know how it happened" is NOT an acceptable answer. He'd only give you that answer if he has a reason to be scared of you or any ramifications if he fesses up. Not trying to tell you how to parent, but if you can get that fear out of his mind, he'll tell you what he did and whatnot. Hey, maybe approach it from the standpoing of... "Hey, that's cool, didn't know it could be done even if it's hacked like that, it would be nice to change it back or put another picture on there, etc." That should defuse his fear... The problem is she entered an email address she thought might be mine ,but actually used by someone else .She said no password was set up .My understanding is an email must have been sent to that address and he or she can set up the password and download .And now I set up an new ID under the ICloud but still the wrong email address still appear as a default one .I tried to delete the set up but I was asked for the password which we don't have .

Hmmm, the problem appears to have disappeared once I deinstalled Dreamweaver CS6. Coincidence?
Also our IT department sent me this, but no need for it at the moment:
Deleting the preference folder (in osx it's in "user/library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator 17 Settings").
Illustrator will then create new preferences.

That is so dumb...Apple is the best and most techinological company IN THE WORLD and they don't have the time to invent something like that? HUH? All they are worried about is making the "Worlds best Phone" and they can't take the time out to help their users or anybody that has their products. Right-Click Desktop, Choose "Change Desktop Background..."
There you can choose the desktop image. If you want a custom one,
Choose "Set Desktop Picture".

When running a slideshow from an album it will not run properly if the photos are sorted manually. Sort them by any of the other options, title, date, rating, etc. and it will play correctly.
Send a report of the problem to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
If you must sort them manually create the slideshow in the slideshow mode in iPhoto, not from an album.

You must update the apps with the Apple ID that they are purchased with.
The only way to get round this is to re-purchase the app with the new Apple ID.

One more question - I initially decided to do this because my Mac kept opening with the date changed to 2008, and I keep having to re - enter my Web key. In addition, it was running much slower. Since I 'cleaned' everything out, I thought all would work perfect. This morning, the date changed to 2008; again AND it again asks for my Web key. Does this mean my Mac has reached it's almost end or could I have a 'bug' on it?

I would open a guest account and see if the problem persist in this new enviroment.
Boot into Safe Boot Mode and see if the problem is present, this turns off third party plug-in's and extentions.
This will give us something to go on and recommend the next step.
