I migrated Thunderbird to new computer; headers show; no messages

My old computer was a Vista machine. My new computer has Windows 8.1. I followed instructions to migrate my Thunderbird profile. However, when I seek to retrieve a message that came to my old computer all I see on my new computer is the header, not the message text. How do I fix this? Thanks in advance.

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or              
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

    I only managed to import synchronized folders (from old computer) to local folders in thunderbird at the new computer.     otherwise copy the entire profile, not parts of it.

    That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
    XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP

    Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
    Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
    Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

    Depends on how the App stores the serial number. Some apps fail when the file that holds the serial number gets moved and must be reinstalled.
    None of that requires you to purchase it again. You just have to install it using the key you were provided with the software.
    No apps will be migrated from a PC as they will not work with OS X.
    Office 2004 will not Migrate as it doesn't work in Mountain Lion.

    You would have had a quicker response if you had posted in the iTunes forum.
    You need to copy the iTunes folder, the one at the top not the iTunes Music library folder to your new computer to move your playlists.

    coachgns, I've given this some serious thought.
    You would first have to boot off the recovery partition to restore from Time Machine and it would wipe your new OS and everything that came with it, iLife iWorks and so on.
    You would be replacing it with older OS software and apps that would probably not play well with the new hardware. I don't want you to have more problems than you need.
    For OS 10.8.5, legacy PPC apps are no longer supported.
    I've only done full restore to the same hardware. You are doing this to a nice new machine and if there is an Apple Store nearby, get an appointment with them on how to best migrate everything off Time Machine to your new Mac.
    As for Adobe products,only the Intel based ones can be reinstalled. Photoshop CS3 and later as an example.

    The most common cause for this issue would be media present that is purchased with another Apple ID.  When prompted to authorize the computer it may show a different Apple ID.  If this is the case, the computer will need to be authorized for this Apple ID.  The article below will walk you through the process of verifying if that is the case or correcting the issue if not.

    It does not magically appear in a new place.  It will only be where you put it.
    Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

    I have so many questions. Normally I use iTunes on my work PC, but I got a new home PC, downloaded iTunes, logged in with Apple ID, yet I don't see any of the music showing up from my Cloud.     The articles below may help you with this.  You can only sync your iPhone to one iTunes Library, so you will have to decide which computer to use.  I would suggest following the steps in the article below to backup your iTunes library to an external drive to copy it to your new computer at home.

  • Question about migrating dreamweaver to new computer

    I'm somewhat of a novice when it comes to dreamweaver and I recently had to go out and get a new computer after cracking the screen of my old laptop.  Now I need to migrate dreamweaver onto my new system but also want to retain the directory structure of a few websites I work on... is there a way to move everything from one computer to another without affecting my site structure etc?

    Do you have any ability to fire up DW on the old system?  If so, then do it.  Once started you should do these things:
    1.  EXPORT all site definitions from DW's Site manager.  Save them to a thumb drive or a CD or a shared network drive so you can get at them on the new computer.
    2.  If you have any custom Snippets, Server Behaviors, or any other custom configurations, put your user configuration folder on that same medium so you can get at it.
    3.  Then you should copy ALL the root folders of all the websites you have on the laptop to your portable medium.
    4.  Under HELP, De-activate the laptop's DW, and exit.
    On the new computer, install DW, provide the S/N, IMPORT the site definitions, and start DW.  Then exit DW, copy the configuration folders you saved to the new Configuration folder in the user section, copy the root folders of the websites to the same location on the new computer, and you're ready to roll....
    If you cannot start the old computer, then you'll have to just install DW, recreate the site definitions, connect to each site and download the files.  You will need to contact Adobe and restore one activation since you can't de-activate the copy of DW on the laptop.

    This is a simple question, but some rudimentary searching has not given me a definitive answer:
    I am moving from the UK to Asia. I am leaving my current laptop, with iTunes 8.2.0.23, in England and will buy a new computer when I arrive, onto which I will install iTunes afresh. I don't have a DVD/CD burner, but I am taking a large external hard drive with all my data, along with my iPod Classic (30Gb). I have backed up my iTunes library (the entire folder kept in My Music) to the external hard drive. When I start using my new computer will I simply be able to copy this iTunes library to the new computer and be able to use my iPod with it? Or is there some form of copy-protection that will prevent my back-up being used on a new computer?
    I will be migrating from and to a Windows XP system.
    99% of my music is from CD import (I obviously don't want to carry hundreds of CDs around the world); the rest is downloads from iTunes store. My great fear is that I will get the new computer and find that I can no longer access all my music.

    Welcome to AD!
    When you start itunes on the new PC. press and hold the shift key. Browse to the exHD copy of iTunesLibrary.itl, and everything should be there.

    You'll have to authorize the new PC. I assume that will work even though you've moved, but I don't think you are supposed to buy any new UK content while outside of the UK.
