I moonlight as a crash test dummy.

Right now, I have total sympathy for Buster the Crash Test dummy on Mythbusters.
If you wander by the AE forums, you'll see the saga I just finished over there. 20 hour long renders with AE and Media Encoder on tiny, tiny files. BUT I got it worked and was just getting to the point where I was almost done with my project.
Then the strangest thing happened - Media Encoder suddenly started working, all mysterious like. It not only started working but I was getting large renders done in under an hour (well, for me - my system isn't that great but I muddle through - my projects aren't really that huge either.
Then this afternoon everything went to #$^#* again!
QuickTime and iTunes stopped, AE stopped and Premiere Pro stopped. As in start loadng and immediately crash.
I'm running an AMD Windows 7 64 system and me and AMD are going to go to war here in a bit. Everytime they give me a new driver CPU or GPU things go freaking nuts.
So, wen't back to the old drivers but had a heck of a time getting QuickTime to install correctly again, along with iTunes and their Bonjour serrvice. Then I tackled Adobe stuffs. I got AE and Media Encoder working again bugt Premiere Pro is still freaking out. I uninstalled, reinstalled, and had to fix my CC account like others have posted on here. Got the new EULA and thought I was doing okay (after a bazillion hours).
But Premiere is still being stubborn. So I tried Photoshop - that worked. AE fired up too but then wigged and said Quicktime was no longer installed on my system.
And it looks like I spoke too soon - Encoder just crapped out on me again..
Oh for the long lost wealthy  uncle to appear so I can get a decent system. That would definetely help. But like I said, I don't do a lot of major stuff. I'm an indie author, so my stuff is book trailers and short marketing stuffs. But this is nuts.
I've updated all of my CC programs - AE is 12.2.1.5 - like I said, I've reinstalled them about three times now. I primarily only use AE, Premiere, and Photoshop - for right now. I'm keeping the d/l to a minimum until I get this worked out.
I'm running Windows 7 64bt Home Premium - that just did a big ole update too. I had to go put things back the way I had them. I'm doing short, small renders, lots of pre-renders but my stuff is really light in comparision to what y'all deal with. I try to keep it in H264, mov or avi, or sometimes I'll strip the footage down to bare bones just to hunt down the problem. I'm trying to render 56mg video footage right now.
Basically Premiere won't eve start. Media Encoder has been starting but is now locking up. And believe it or not, AE seems to be the most cooperative.
I've scrubbed the caches repeatedly, and not long ago, I used the Adobe cleaner, so this is basically new installs.
Since I've got 100% AMD I have no choie but to run the Mercury engine. Since this all started in the beginning of the week, I've been running this stuff lean and mean. Like I said, I thought I had it - then.
Hit the brick wall and went through the windshield.
Cheers,
Kath

Runtime errors can be common. They usually stem from a bad, outdated, or otherwise corrupt C++ Runtime.dll.
I would address that issue first and foremost. Google "runtime error," and begin reading. There will be many hits, but if you refine your search with words like Adobe, Premiere, etc., you'll narrow things down. There will be links to the MS site for updated runtime.dll's. Note: make sure that you get the one that perfectly matches your version of the OS. Do NOT get one for any other version, than yours. Check this carefully.
Good luck,

  • Wow! I feel like a "Crash-Test" Dummy!

First of all - I wabt to like Premiere CS4 - I really do. However, I started a new project with it, captured clips, started working........
..........and that is where the trouble began.
This program is crashing upon virtually EVERY save or auto-save. I suffered through it for a few weeks (it is totally random when it crashes) and after this purgatorius experience(I have sent 411 crash reports to Adobe) - I exported my edited clips to CS3, set up a new project with the exact same settings as the old (NTSC DV, 48 KHZ 16 bit audio) and.............
...........I have been able to work and actually edit AND auto-save with NO crashes sice yesterday. Thank God I did not uninstall CS3.
    My system:
    Dual core Dual processor Woodcrest
    6 GB RAM
6 TB HD Space (programs on C drive only)
NVidia FX 3800 1 GB VRAM
Any ideas as to where to go to troubleshoot - or should I just wait for an update? Any other crash experiences or problems? Thanks for any and all help. I really want to like CS4..............

  • Did all crash test steps still crashes

Firefox is running like an old beat up car. Crashes 30 seconds after start up consistently- always have to open twice and now crashes about an hour into every session. Previously did the safe mode, scan for viruses, updated plug-ins, checked for unknown plug-ins, checked for unknown programs and now followed your steps to generate the crash report which it lists an "amazing amount". Right clicked on the most recent report as instructed by Firefox and it returns message "The requested page could not be found". Overly dissatisfied with this programs performance as I can go on Explorer and Chrome with no crashes, but Firefox happens to be easier for my main business function on the internet. Have spent numerous hours following Firefoxes instructions as this is an apparent widespread issue from the amount of similar complaints I have seen posted. I know this program is "free" & has cost me hours spent and monies lost attending to this issue. A solution is requested as your product is claimed by your company to be the "best" when I can't even get it to stay stable- please properly help. The amount of manual steps recommended by Firefox to check these issues make it more worth while to go and get a typewriter..

I'll receive the next pm from 121212a :
''Hello, thank you for your help in the matter. Here are the 5 most recent crash reports. I replied to your email which from Mozilla notifications but I don't believe you can reply back to that address as message was returned twice and did not see another provided. Sent a test email which worked fine.

  • Test stand crashes: "test stand has detected that your script debugging"

    05-01-201203:18 PM
Hi everyone. I am setting up a new installation of Test stand and writing my first sequence with an existing sequence of legacy code.
When I run the sequence and stop on the call to the DLL, and then step into the dll and I get this error:
test stand has detected that your script debugging settings might cause visual studio to hang when attaching to the teststand process to perform this step into operation.
To fix this problem, open internet explorer, select tools>>Internet options>> Advanced, check Browsing>>Disabl script debugging, click okay, and restart your sequence execution.
The message is vague and it is indermanent as to whether I should "enable" or "disable" Script debugging so I tried both. Test stand then crashes again and I get the same error.
Do I need to reboot after each crash? I'll try that next. Any ideas on how to make this error go away?
    Thank you for your help.

  • Plugin crash test cases

    hi,
I am creating a plugin for adobe reader 8, 9, x however a latest update to 10.1.4 causes the plugin to crash i wanted to know about the possible test cases and test cases those caanot be automated .
    Thanks

There is no simple way to debug a crash in a plug-in, you have to do it
like any other crash: Figure out where it crashes, and then work your way
    back.
From personal experience, when a plug-in used to work fine and all of a
sudden crashes with a new version of Acrobat, chances are that you are not
using the API correctly. You came up with something that seems to work, but
when Adobe made some changes to the Acrobat internals, things go wrong.
Look at all your API calls and make sure that they are used exactly as
specified in the SDK documentation, and make sure that you have exception
handling in place for every API call. Also, make sure that you release all
resources that you acquire or that are acquired automatically.

  • Missing "Test (Dummy) "Account from site Collection

I have test account named "[email protected]" which is available in 3 of the site collection i have so that i can login as test account and perform testing. This test account is not working in one of the site collection. When i try to add this account
in Readers group ,it will not take it.What might be the problem for this?
    Thanks

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that one text account could not been added to the Readers group in one of your site collection.
Did the issue occur in the other groups? You can check it with the other groups.
Did the user have particular permission or other permissions in the site collection? You can check the user’s permission in the site.
You can also create a new group with the same permission level, then check with the user.
What’s more, you can recreate the user, then check whether it works.
    Thanks & Regards,

I need information about hardware and software NI tools for develop a data

NI has a very broad range of tools that would fit this type of application. Identifying which tools will fit your needs will require a more indepth specification of system parameters. I highly recommend that you use the on-line DAQ Designer at http://www.ni.com/daq/ddonline.htm. • Installing SAP NW 7.01 ABAP Trial Version for dummies

    Hello sappers...
Sorry if you thought this was a guide for dummies, though it could turn out to be if I get some help - I'm the dummy!
Not wanting to be left out, I too have had a host of issues trying to install this, over several days now... it feels like bashing your head against a brickwall.  After staying up till 4am last night, then wiping my laptop and reinstalling Windows AGAIN to start from scratch this morning, and encountering the cranio-mural interface again, I feel like a crash test dummy!
I am installing on a new installation of Windows Vista Home Basic, I have a gig of RAM and plenty of hard drive space.
Forgive me if this is an ignorant question, but do I need to install the Loopback adaptor if I'm connected to the internet?  If it's to generate an IP address, surely my computer has one.  Note networking is not my strong point (though I'm an ok programmer - one project manager even gave me 4 out of 10!) - please be kind!  Anyway, I have tried with and without this on my various attempts.
ANYWAY.... the sorry saga goes like this...
I seem to be able to install Max DB OR SAP NW 7.01 ABAP Trial Version u2013> NSP, but not both at the same time - I may have done once, and it seemed to work once, I even managed to sign on - then it wouldnt work in the morning - but then that was on Windows XP Pro on my wife's laptop which only has 500 meg of RAM.
My last attempt was fairly typical - Max DB is showing up in the program menu, but SAP NW 7.01 ABAP Trial Version u2013> NSP is not.
However, I seem to have managed to start the NSP server ok, using SAP Management console, thanks to a handy tip on this forum about using your Windows OS password when it prompts for credentials.
When I try to sign on I get 'partner 127.0.0.1:sapdp00 not reached WSAECONNREFUSED: Connection refused - error number 10061, return code -10, system call connect.
That's one of my better attempts.
Last night having deleted all the installed files from my C drive, uninstalled everything, tinkered with the registry to remove all relevant entries, I managed to run an installation that skipped out installing MaxDB (it was super quick!), yet did install the SAP NW 7.01 ABAP Trial Version u2013> NSP bits in my program menu - imagine my excitement at being able to start and stop the server, yet with no database it produced red windows on my screen saying 'sorry, you screwed up AGAIN' (or words to that effect).  Trying to sign on produced equally disheartening error messages...
Am going to give it another try after taking a break, next time WITH loop back adaptor installed...
Please pardon lack of relevant detail, I didnt note everything I did on every attempt - substituting humour for detail is all that's saving my sanity at this stage...
Anyone that can help me achieve this will be my friend for ever... I'm a contractor bitten by the recession trying to learn some news skills.... the first one being how to install Netweaver at home...!

Well, I ran the progran anyway, TechTool that is and looked for updates within the program and it said I was running the latest version 3.1.3. I ran the program and it crashed. I was the crash test dummy.

  • Address complete problem

I don't know if I'm looking in the right place but maybe someone can assist with some information.
Previous Verizon DSL, now Frontier DSL for about 2 months (they bought Verizon).
Until this am, when entering the url all that was required was enough information (ie: "amazon" for amazon.com. "drudge" for drudgereport.com, etc) then FF would complete the address and ".com", ".net", etc, then I'd get to the desired site.
However, this am when doing the usual, instead of completing the address and getting to my destination I would get redirected to a "Frontier Yahoo search assist" page where I could then click on the result and get to the site I desired. Only by typing in the entire web address could I bypass the redirect.
I checked to see if my "true/false" for FF were in the required operation and they were. Ran virus scan and came up clean so contacted online tech support at Frontier, since Yahoo is their search partner and I kept ending up at the Frontier home page.
After pulling up my account, the online rep (they only have one person, ONE, for the entire online tech support staff) told me he never heard of just typing in keywords for addresses and that he ALWAYS had to enter the entire thing.
    O.o
Then he suggested that I do a Google search for my problem.
    o.O
Getting nowhere I canceled the online session and called the 24/7 phone support. By the time my account information was pulled up with the phone rep the problem magically disappeared.
    O.O
So my questions. Was this a coincidental temporary glitch with FF (I'm a beta-tester crash test dummy), a bug not caught with my virus/malware scams or ... Frontier's way of hijacking me to Yahoo to generate ad revenue.
The timing suggests the third option, this is the first and only time this has occurred since going online in 2003, but before I get PO'd with Frontier I figure I needed more information.
    Thanks in advance!

I have had the same problem recently with Comcast. Shortly after starting with Comcast I was able to go to a site by using the part between the www and com and the address would be resolved. After a few months, it quit working, so I thought that it was FF. I logged in to my Verizon DSL (which I haven't canceled yet) and it resolves the way I am accustomed to. Therefore, it is the service provider that is causing the problem. I went to the opt-out link and edited it to turn off the helper service, but it hasn't changed in the half hour since I made the change in my account preferences. Maybe tomorrow?

  • Apple care protection for MBP early 2011

Apple care came with TechTool Deluxe but my early 2011 MBP came with Snow Leopard. Now that I have Lion, Tech Tool states that it has not been fully tested with Lion. Short of buying a new copy, is there a way to get Tech Tool for Lion?
    Thanks

  • Please help Update me after a 2 year COMA - Crash Course from the experts!

I basically have been in a COMA for the past 2+ years and in 2006 was part of an Elite group of Tech Support - Research and Review team that also served as "Crash Test Dummies" for Mac and various related software, Quark, Adobe, InDesign. Then I went 'brain dead' and the company I worked for and collegues are scattered.
I was know as an Excel Goddess. I was up on the latest "known issues" related to MAC/PC converted files and could save many others wasted time trying to work around a 'known issue'.
I'm going back to college for an Associates Degree for Computer Information Technology to go along with the 25 years experience I have - I started at NCR in '79 when mainframes were the size of refridgerators. I grew up with computers - the languages - glitches and software pms unknown promlems.
I have a iMac G3 with AppleWorks 6.4 I believe. From what research I have done it seems the brilliant idea of BootCamp/Conversion via parrarells was a waste of time for a lot of IT people.
My Question is this - would I be doing ok purchasing a refurbished Mac [AIR?] with wireless / bluetooth included and should I forget about AppleWorks/MS Office and just get the iWork09 and kinda relearn the tricks and tips from reading?
Thank you so much - I want to update but I feel so far behind. I truly appreciate your opinions.
    Sincerely,
    JDNoble79

iWork is a fairly decent medium power collection of tools. But in the professional and academic worlds the MS Office collection is king of the hill. This will become especially true when exchanging files and data. If Excel is used in classes, then there is no acceptable substitute.
I spent 40 years in business and academia so I'm not mistaken in the recommendation. iWorks is simply not a substitute for Office. Since the OP is planning on returning to college he/she should have the tools that colleges and universities use almost 100%.

  • Application crashes with Android 2.3.3 update

    Hi All,
My development phone(Google-Nexus One) recently received the Android 2.3.3 update and although native applications run faster my Air application is failing basic test cases.
Simply scrolling a list with TileLayout and MobileIconItemRenderer causes the application to crash. Error dialog reports the the application process has stopped responding and only option is to force close. Scrolling is very cluncky and not usable on 2.3.3(disregarding the crashing), testing the same build on Android 2.2 is fine.
Has anyone else seen performance/stability issues with Android 2.3.3 update?
    Any help is much appreciated,
    Cheers,
    Greg

As I said, I installed a new version of Android in my smartphone, which forced me to reinstall all the applications (including the Adobe AIR), so it's the version 2.7.1.1961.
I checked other applications that depend on Adobe AIR and see that is a common problem with Adobe AIR applications and several people complain about.

  • Employee photo is causing one of our crystal reports to crash

    Good Afternoon,
I'm currently using Crystal report engine version 9.2.3.884 as part of a Peoplesoft package.
I have created a new report using the PeopleSoft crystal ODBC driver delivered within the package.
One of the field retrieved contains the employee photo defined in Oracle DB as a BLOB field.
When I drag and drop the employee photo into the report, it crashes the application.
I've first checked if the photo was corrupted using JPEGsnoop.exe. The photo used is not corrupted.
After running a couple of tests I have found a workaround.
Take a print screen of the employee photo using snag it tool, copy it into MSPaint, save the photo with the same name, load the new version into oracle and drag the photo into my crystal report.
This new picture didn't crash the application.
In order to make sure that the issue was not due to the PeopleSoft ODBC driver, I ran the same test using the Oracle ODBC driver. It returned the same result.
I would like to understand why the original picture is causing my crystal report to crash.
Is there any existing fix related to this issue? Otherwise I would like to know how to report this issue to crystal report developers?
If you want some more detailed information (the employee photo I'm using) please let me know.
Thanks in advance for your support,
    Best Regards.

    Hi Sean,
Thanks a lot for your reply.
That's right it could be related to memory usage. I have already got this issue before, but the message is different. When I'm running my crashing test, I'm dealing with one photo only (6 Ko JPG format).
When I take a print screen of the photo causing my crystal report to crash, save it as the same format JPG using MS Paint, load it into oracle blob table and re-run the report using the new photo it works perfectly fine.
Prior to this I made sure that the photo was not corrupted using JPEGsnoop.exe.
If you want to I can give you the two JPG samples I'm using and a detailed explanation of the manipulation I'm doing.
    Thanks,
    Best Regards.

  • CVI crashes when calling function from external DLL

I'm calling a CVI library from Test Stand 4.1.  In that CVI library I load an external DLL (using LoadLibrary) and create a few function pointers (using GetProcAddress).  The DLL loads successfully, and I get addresses for all of the imported functions.
However, when I one of the functions is called CVI crashes (Test Stand says it lost the ActiveX connection to CVI) when executing in an external CVI instance.  If executed in the Test Stand process I get a system level exception.
If I step through the code in CVI, it hangs after trying to step into or over the call to the function pointer from the external DLL.
I am able to call the functions in a small test project I created in CVI, however when integrating it into an existing test library and calling it through Test Stand it fails.
Any ideas on how to go about debugging this issue?

Have you tried calling into the dll that CVI calls directly from TestStand?  I am curious to know if this also crashes.
I am also curious to know if there are any path references in the dll that is called by the CVI program.  If so are they relative, or absolute paths?
I ask because one of the possibilities is that relative paths are being used to specify a path from the location of the code that is called, and they are not working because the current working directory is being specified by TestStand, and the paths are not relative to the working directory given by TestStand.
