There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

The amount of storage that is shown on the box and in Settings are calculated differently - the package uses 1 billion bytes as a gig (i.e. decimal), whereas in Settings it's shown as the binary definition : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2419
Also some space has been used for iOS, the built-in app and some space is lost due to formatting.

  • I am based in South Africa, and it seems like we cannot purchase songs and movies from iTunes. any suggestions on how to by-pass this seemingly boycott of South African users?

I am based in South Africa, and it seems like we cannot purchase any music or movies from itunes. Apparently it is not supported by our itunes store, what ever that might mean. Unfortunately the staff in all of the i-shops in South Africa are pretty much unhelpfull, unlike the service i received while in the US. Any suggestions on how to by-pass this seemingly boycot of the South African users?

To use the iTunes Store in a country you need a credit card issued in that country, billed to an address in that country, and also be physically present in that country when using the store.  Basically all you have access to would be anything offered in South Africa unless you move to a different country.
It's the media owners who get to tell Apple where and where they cannot sell their media.  I'm sure Apple would be happy to take your money but  if the media companies are not happy then they can say no to sales in SA.
Even if there were a way to bypass this we certainly couldn't tell you on this forum because it would violate the Terms of use of this web site and get the whole topic removed.

  • Im from South Africa and i can only purchase limited games

Im from South Africa and i cannot purchase games from the UK or any country.
The games for South Africa are limited and *****, i like to purches simulation games like air to air combat and games like Grand Torismo
please assist my  e mail <Edited by Host>.

"Im from South Africa and i cannot purchase games from the UK or any country."
    That is correct.
You can ONLY use the itunes store of your country of residence AND ONLY while you are physically located inside the borders of that country.
There is nothing to be done.
If the itunes store of your country does not sell them, then you cannot buy them.
    Sorry.

  • Can I use the same power charger in another country (South Africa) and just but a socket adapter?

I am moving to South Africa from the US for a year and want to know if I can use the same power charger in South Africa and just but a socket adapter or do I need to get a new power charger for S.A.?
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
Nowadays laptop chargers can be used for normal electricity around the world (110V to 250V). All we need is a small plug adapter similar the the ones we use to travel overseas. Most electrical shops, travel agents and airports ... sell them.
    Regards.

  • Hi I am in south Africa and wifi is very restricted so I have a 3G card with 5gig cap but when I want to download applications for iPad larger than 20meg it says I must use wifi is there a setting I can change to increase the cap on 3G downloads

Hi I am from south Africa  and wi fi is very restricted so I have a 3G  card in my iPad and it has a 5 Gig capacity, however when I want to download applications bigger than 20meg it asks for a wifi connection. Is there a setting I can change so to allow a higher capacity 3G downloads?

The R201 MiFi is really nifty. It's the size of a credit card, and a bit thicker. Costs just over R1200 and can connect up to 5 devices. It charges via USB or via the iPad adapter and will give about 3 hours use on a charge. I actually feel that with a MiFi, you don't need any 3G on the iPad.

  • Just got to South Africa and have no service although I purchased an add on?

When I got to South Africa and realised I didn't have any service, I purchased a roaming '30 mins anywhere non EU' add on. However I still don't have service?
    Please can someone help!
    Thanks so much in advance!

Buying a bundle doesn't mean that your device will work aborad you need to make sure roaming is enabled on your account.
If you have a EE extra plan you still need to make sure roaming is enable on your account your plan only gives you free/cheaper calls when abroad.
If your wanting to enable roaming on your account there could be a deposit to pay if you haven't had the device for about 6 months.
Unless you have paid the deposit then roaming is not enabled on your account.
You need to activate roaming on your account by calling 150 from your device or from a landline 01707 315000 before you leave the UK.
But you still might be able todo this if you are abroad.
From the home page of your account go to "Plan and add-ons>Manage this device>>Usage Controls> and select Allow on call abroad and premium rate, If the option is not there you need to call
It can take 24 hours to activate
If you had this device/contract for under 6 months you need to call customer services on +44 7953 966250 from a landline.
Once you have activated roaming you can then use this link to see what cost there is and what bundles you can have.
    http://explore.ee.co.uk/roaming/ee
    Please read this about voicemail
    http://ee.co.uk/help/getting-started/setting-up-voicemail/divert-to-voicemail
    And this
    http://ee.co.uk/articles/set-up-your-phone-for-using-abroad
Also sending a text to 150 with the words of RO country your going to i.e. RO Spain will get you a reply of what the costs will be from that country.

  • I don't know the password for my OLLLLDDDD iTunes AOL accounts, and thus can't play half of my music. How can I fix this?

I recently had to get a new hard drive on my laptop and thus lost all of my music. I've had my iPod for somewhere around six years, and have amassed a lot of music during that time and gone through a couple computers (mostly because I was working up to a computer of my own...). So, if you can guess where I'm going with this, I have had at least three different iTunes accounts and I still have all of the music on an external drive. My problem is that now that I'm putting my music back on to the new hard drive, I can't play some of the songs because I don't know the password for the OLD AOL accounts. I've tried every variation of password I can think of that I would have used, but still come up with nothing. I tried calling the AOL support number and the guy said he had no idea what I was talking about and hung up on me. To make things even more confusing, iTunes seems to have created an identical account to the one I use now but as an AOL account and I have absolutely no idea what the password is. This means that half of my music/TV shows/movies are not able to be watched/listened to. Does anybody have any idea what I can do to recover my password? Or am I totally screwed?? Please help!

    Ok..
Launch iTunes. From the menu bar top of your screen click Store / Authorize This Computer.
iTunes seems to have created an identical account
No... Apple does not "create" an account for you.
I've had my iPod for somewhere around six years, and have amassed a lot of music during that time and gone through a couple computers
You've purchased iTunes media all this time and never backed it up?

  • We have 6 ipods and 1 iphone in our house. We have different itunes accounts. We use one computer. How can we share each others music? I moved everybodies itunes media folder to the public folder but when I open itunes I only see that accounts music.

Adding media directly to the media folder does not make it appear in the library.  iTunes doesn't really 'look' at that folder except to go to specific files when you call upon them from a library. You have to drag new content to each user's library, that is assuming each user has their own library.

  • Every time I try to download and app to my iPhone, it tells me that I need to change to South African App Store. I live in South Africa and have purchased apps before, what has changed ?

When purchasing an app on my iPhone, it says I must first change from the US App Store to South Africa, I live in South Africa and have downloaded several apps before without any problem. What has changed ?

    Hi HayCam,
Sounds like you accidently got changed to another store....
So, go to Settings>iTunes & App Store, and click on your AppleID at the top. Then click on View account, sign in, and then click on Country/Region, and follow the instructions to change your store to South Africa.
That should take care of it!
    Cheers,

  • I bought an album on my iPhone and it never transferred to my iTunes account. It has disappeared now and I'm not allowed to buy it again. How can I find my missing music album or have the option to purchase it again?

I bought an album on my iPhone and it never transferred to my iTunes account. It has disappeared now and I'm not allowed to buy it again. How can I find my missing music album or have the option to purchase it again?

    Hello bubblegirl2,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your purchased album.
First, I recommend trying to download the album from you list of past purchases.  Use the steps in the section titled "Download previous purchases on Mac or PC > iTunes Store" in the following article:
    Download past purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
If you have tried those steps and still do not see the album, it may be that the album is hidden.  Follow the steps below in iTunes on your computer to check if it is hidden and unhide it:
    To unhide your purchases
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
If you're not already signed in, choose Store > Sign in.
Choose Store > View My Account. (You may be asked to enter your password again).
On your Account Information summary, scroll down to the "iTunes in the Cloud" section and click Manage.
Choose a content type by clicking Music, TV shows, Apps, or Books from the top.
Click the Unhide button next to the item you would like to restore.
Note: If the item you are unhiding is not already downloaded on your computer locally, it will begin downloading automatically.

  • I lived in the US for a few years, spent a fortune on iTunes [my then local Apple ID account].  Now I live in South Africa and want to use Match.  I have a local credit card but how do I use my new / 2nd Apple ID and gain access to all my US music??

You have to be in a country to use its store - you will need to be in the US and have a US billing address on your account to be able to use the US store (that applies to buying and redownloading).
You can use iTunes Match in South Africa, do you not have a backup copy of all of your US iTunes purchases so that you can subscribe to it and upload those that aren't in the South African store to it ?

  • I have an ancient laptop (from 2005) that has my entire music library. This laptop barely works and some keys don't type anymore. How can I get all this music transferred to another computer, or available to me on the cloud?

I have an ancient laptop (from 2005) that has my entire music library. This laptop barely works and some keys don't type anymore. How can I get all this music transferred to another computer, or available to me on the cloud?

    No... do not move programs.
    About the iTunes library files
Your iTunes library files track the media you add to iTunes, how you've organized it, and other information such as playlists. By default, these two files are in your iTunes folder:
    Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music/iTunes/
    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
    Windows Vista: C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes\
    Windows 7: C:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes\
    Windows 8: C:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes\

  • My hard drive crashed and I have lost my Itunes library. How can I get my the music that I loaded from my own CDs back on my PC from my iPod?

My hard drived crashed in my HP Pavilion desktop and I have installed a new one. I have Windows 2007. My Itunes library is gone. How can I get all the music that I loaded onto my iPod from my own CD's back into an Itunes library?

The loading of audio files to iPod is designed to go one way only: computer to iPod. There are some third-party applications available which will rescue an audio library and write the files back to a PC HDD. The playlists might not copy, nor the album art work, nor videos but you might be able to recover all audio files. Some apps are open source and available for free download, for example: Senuti, Onyx. There are others which are  Windows-based; do a Google search to find out.
