I movie crashes in SnowLeopard

I have tried two times now over approx one week between and imovie crashes every time when i add transitions between images in a video and i lose all project and when i start iMovie again everything is lost and i have to start all over again.
A little more specific..I am adding my own videos and adding my own music and want to put some images there too and when i add the transitions between them iMovie crashes, losing eveything i made so far.
Can i save my progress as i go, i have searched for it but didnt find anything where i can save, and why does it crash?
I have made a new and clean install of SnowLeopard and have the latest MacMini with 4GB Ram. So no memoryloss there...
Im so frustrated when i lose everything..

like, gah. i have no freakn idea. and silly apple
actually charge to fix their own muss ups
23 GB may not be enough depending on your movie.
Try deleting the preference files:
Quit iMovie.
Locate a file named com.apple.iMovie.plist and get rid of it. iMovie will create a new one the next time it runs. Empty the trash and run a permissions repair from the Disk Utility folder.
The files are located here:
-->/Users/YourName**/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iMovie.plist

I Movie crashing during export

I've been trying to make a movie and every time I try to export it my I Movie crashes! First I thought it was because my hard disk was too full, but I have over 30 GB on it and the problem still continues. I can make short clips just fine, but 30 min and up is a problem. Please help!

A couple suggestions...
Can you tell what format and codec you've chosen? (e.g. QuickTime movie with H.264)
does changing this to something else work?
Does the problem occur only on one project or multiple different ones? What about a new project with just a simple video clip (no titles, transitions, audio...)?
Have you made large movies before or never been able to?

Wathching a rental movie crashes half way though - then can't find downloads in settings menu....

If you are using version 9.09 check in your iMovie projects folder in your Movies folder and see if the project is there. If your version is 10.0.2 then select your iMovie Library and right/control click on it and select show package contents. Check to see if the project is there. If no success then use time machine to restore.

I-Movie CRASHES directly after ANY import

ok so
anytime i try and import a movie file of any kind, or footage off of a camera i movie crashes.
the import will occur but as soon as it reaches the end, BANG, bye bye i movie
this originally happened with Imoive HD, but i got myself the newest version and and it still crashes.
Not only imovie but Toast crashes when i try and import a movie.
i have also deleted quicktime and downloaded the newest verion but its still does the bad

Ive been trying to export or share my imovie video and every time the i movie crashes and its just pulls up a report. I need to export this movie now and it is fairly complicated please help me. It even crashes when ever i try to play it on full screen

This is bit of a Nightmare situation - and there can be a zillion reasons for why it goes wrong. See if You might find help in my list.
When iMovie doesn't work as intended this can be due to a lot of reasons
• iMovie Pref files got corrupted - trash it/they and iMovie makes new and error free one's
• Creating a new User-Account and log into this - forces iMovie to create all pref. files new and error free
• Event or Project got corrupted - try to make a copy and repair
• a codec is used that doesn't work
• problem in iMovie Cache folder - trash Cache.mov and Cache.plist
• version miss match of QuickTime Player / iMovie / iDVD
• preferences are wrong - Repair Preferences
• other hard disk problem - Repair Hard Disk (Disk Util tool - but start Mac from ext HD or DVD)
• External hard disks - MUST BE - Mac OS Extended (hfs) formatted to work with Video
( UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - works for most other things - but not for Video )
• USB-flash-memories do not work
• Net-work connected hard disks - do not work
• iPhoto Library got problems - let iPhoto select another one or repair it. Re-build this first then try to re-start iMovie.
This You do by
_ close iPhoto
_ on start up of iPhoto - Keep {cmd and alt-keys down}
_ now select all five options presented
_ WAIT a long long time
• free space on Start-Up (Mac OS) hard disk to low (<1Gb) - I never go under 25Gb free space for SD-Video (4-5 times more for HD)
• external devices interferes - turn off Mac - disconnect all of them and - Start up again and re-try
• GarageBand fix - start GB - play a few notes - Close it again and now try iMovie
• Screen must be set to million-colors
• Third-party plug-ins doesn't work OK
• Run "Cache Out X", clear out all caches and restarts the Mac
• Let Your Mac be turned on during one night. At about midnight there is a set of maintenance programs that runs and tidying up. This might help
• Turn off Your Mac - and disconnect Mains - for about 20-30 minutes - at least this resets the FireWire port.
• In QuickTime - DivX, 3ivx codec, Flip4Mac, Perian etc - might be problematic - temporarily move them out and re-try
(I deleted the file "3ivxVideoCodec.component" located in Mac HD/Library/Quicktime and this resolved my issue.)

2008 24" iMac crashing both SnowLeopard and Mavericks

My iMac crashes about 1-3 times a day, usually while scrolling (either via scroll wheel or using mouse), or switching tasks. Sometimes the screen goes blank (either solid grey or white, or horizontal grey or white stripes, or all black), or the screen presents the normal picture but the cursor disappears or doesn't move, or the cursor moves over a normal screen but no actions can be taken (force quit not available either by mouse or by keyboard). Often I have Mail or Safari open but not always. So I have to do a hard kill and then restart. Computer restarts normally and nothing seems damaged. Apps work as they should.
This problem occurred when I was running Snow Leopard, and has reoccurred after switching to Mavericks. I keep the OS updated to the latest version of each. My iMac has 4 GB RAM and 1 TB HD (3 partitions) currently with TimeCapsule Router (2TB HD), but I had the same problems under Snow Leopard when running 2 GB RAM and 320MB HD and Airport Base Station.
When I upgraded OS to Mavericks and HD to 1TB I did disk repair using Apple's tool as well as Drive Genius3, then did a backup, and then inserted new HD and installed Mavericks to a 700GB partition, and restored from backup. Then I used AppZapper to remove residual of all apps that would no longer run under Mavericks. Also tried disabling all Safari extensions. All to no avail.
Do anyone have any ideas? Is this related to older HW (Core 2 Duo) and newer OS?

Create a new admin user account in Users & Groups preferences. If you have Automatic Login enabled, then disable it. Restart the computer and choose the new account for login.
Operate out of this new account for a day or so to see if the problems are resolved.

Open movie crashes logic every time

Hi,
I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this.. I am trying to open a movie which is 2.77gb (DVCPRO50) in size.. Upon selecting it within the file browser, (before even clicking OK), Logic crashes.
This happens when video is set to either "window" and "firewire dv".
Also, this video file is on a separate Esata 2tb raid, completely isolated from my logic files/libraries.
Video opens fine/plays in quicktime, fcp etc..

I just tested this scenario out on 7.1.1, loading a 3.2G QT movie using the columns view to select the movie. No crashes. Tried this by opening movie as float as well as in a regular window. No crashes.
The compression type of the movie in question is Sorenson Video 3, and I'm using QT (Pro) 7.03.
(I don't have a FW output card, so I could only test in "window" mode).
One thing I noticed was that the duration of the movie (which in this case is 1 hour, 8 minutes, 19 seconds long) was displayed -- incorrectly -- as 08:18 in Logic's file selector. A minor glitch, but annoying.
Again, no crashes.
Patrick, what version of Logic are you running and on what computer?

Embedded QT movie crashes browsers

We just got 7.0.2 Pro, converted several Matrox RT.X .avi's to H.264 videos, embedded them into simple .html and uploaded. When you go to the page, most of the time it will crash immediately. Although sometimes, depending on bandwidth, the file will download a large chunk and will play okay, until it catches up to the buffer. You can even manually scrub forward (to catch up to what has already downloaded) and it will crash. This has been tried on multiple systems with both IE and Opera and the same results.
Before clicking on any of the links, keep in mind it very well could crash your browser. Just a warning

According to the link the only thing I was missing was autoplay and controller attributes. I added those but still had the same problem. However, after that I turned off autoplay and everything works fine. I guess it's a glitch with Fast Start and autoplay? Thanks for the help Kirk!

Front row "movies" crashing

The "Movies" selection of my front row program crashes after about 2 seconds of starting font row. The DVD, Music, and Photo sections work fine. I have repaired permissions, re-installed Front row from the install disk, and updated all quick time, i-tunes, and front row software. This is really puzzling me. My 20 In. I-mac is brand new and worked loke a charm for a week. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My content barrier filtering software was preventing front row from accessing movies.

QuickTime 10.1 loading 'ghost' movie, crashes.

I tried to open a .mov in quicktime, and something went wrong (I can't remember what, sorry). I deleted the movie from my computer.
Now, whenever I open Quicktime, I get a window with the 'loading' icon and the message 'Loading Movie...'
It never loads. If I try to close the movie, Quicktime crashes.
I can play other movies, but it's a bit annoying.
I was going to remove the preference files from my Library, but they don't exist.
I'm on Mac OS 10.7.3 (Lion)

I now installed the last version of perian again and quicktime now plays some of my .avi movies . For the rest they pause the moment i hit play , but i can see the still image ..For now using MPlayerX

HD movies crash itunes

I am having trouble with itunes 11.0.2. I had itunes 10.7 but my HD movies have been crashing the program after a few seconds of playback. So, Windows stated that Apple suggested I update to 11, which I did and I am still having the crashing issue. I talked with an Apple representative a few days ago because my HD movies would not play at all in itunes (even though they are authentic and registered to me Apple digital downloads, go figure) and he suggested I download some codecs, which I did. I installed K-Lite's codec pack and voila! ... still crashes but plays for a few seconds before crashing. So, the update to 11.0.2 did nothing but give me an itunes I don't really care for and my HD movies still crashing. I can't play these movies in Divx, VLC, Windows Media Player, PowerDVD 10, itunes, or even Quicktime. I have no idea why as these are digital downloads which I bought with the bluray combo pack. All my other movies play just fine, better in VLC than itunes to be honest, but they still play just fine. The two HD movies I own, do not. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

No I don't think that's the case as my graphics card is an HD Radeon with updated drivers. Computer has 8GB of ram and an AMD Phenom II X6 1045T processor at 2.70GHz. It's a 64bit machine and I'm using the 64bit version of iTunes. I think my PC is capable of handling HD. I'm reading the specs on the card now and it appears perfectly capable. It's the Radeon HD 5570.

I Rerender (replace ancien) .mov in C4D
When i come back to Ae (the render isn't finish) Ae importer CRASH ! and don't save !
In CS6 i never saw this problem.
I can't increment my render every time.
I am ok to clic right and Reload footage. Someone know how to modified the correct file to stop automatic update of footage ?

Quicktime Movie Crash

Hi All,
I'm trying to export some video 24 minute using Compressor. I have already created a self contained Quicktime movie that I'm exporting. I'm using the MPEG 2 option and also creating a AIFF for audio. The Audio is fine but when I go to play video it's crashes and is unreadable. I just did this process 2 days ago with no problem. Could this be a storage issue?

Sorry for the confusion. I'm trying to create files to import into DVD Studio Pro. The file is created but then will not play? Does this help?
