I-movie giving false message: "lost connection to camera"

i am an experienced imovie 4.0.1 user. recently when i tried to share a movie to my dv camera i got a "lost connection to camera" message which is false. i can import from camera to i movie and i can also write videos from final cut HD 6.5 to the same camera usung same firewire, but i cannot write to the camera.
at this stage the only way i can get something off my Imovie is to import it into final cut and then write it to my Dv camera through final cut, which works fine but is cumbersome.
the problem seems to be in I movie, which no one here can figure out.
at the suggestion of some local experts, i deinsatlled quicktime 7.1.2 entirely including any installers, and then downloaded it and reinstalled it. i did this because my quick time seemed to be screwed up (I had 7.1 qt with 6.5 player .) i have no idea how that happened, but some thought it might be the cause of my problems. also an experienced final cut user told me there were some problems with the qt 7.1.2 install program that was affecting tiger/final cut users and there was some hope that this procedure might also help me.
it didn't.
doing this had no effect on my imovie problem
any suggestions would be welcome

I found a solution to my system. I went to the apple software updates and updated the Mac OS X software that I was using (10.4.3) and added an update from QT 7.0 to 7.1.2 I think there was also an Apple Desktop converter of some description. After I downloaded and installed AND took the DesktopVideoOut.component of the Library>Quicktime folder THEN restarted, when I tried to copy my iMovie 4 to camera the lost connection message did not come up.
Hooray! Hope this helps someone else! It only took me 8 hours of trial and error!

    There can be many reasons why the Login is "up the creek".
    Any break in the network at your end whilst logged in will cause  an issue.
    A sort of discrepancy between what iChat thinks the state should be and what the server thinks.
    If they don't agree the server will refuse to accept.
    A Crash at the server end which does not log you out properly will also do it.
    Any file at any time can be come corrupted.
    Luckily with the iChat .plists they are recreated if removed with an iChat Restart.
    If it were AIM you can also get your Account Suspended  and this will not log you in.
    (It tends to happen from Chat rooms where people notify AIM about bad behaviour (as they see it) and you have to apply to get Un-suspended).
    Most of the big IM services use multiple servers.
    Sometimes these go out of Sync.
    In the case of AIM this happens when they remove Old unused Screen Names from people's Buddy List prior to making them available for re-registration.  I am not sure if this happens at Google.
    You seem to be talking about an account that has worked at Work and having new computer at home.
    As I mentioned the Priority thing you have not said that it has coincided with the new computer logging in  (this will kick the work Computer out of Google whether you are logged in  on the Web Mail page or in iChat)
    IN addition to that iChat stays partially logged in for Off Line IMs
    This is done in the background by a support app called iChatAgent
    If your Computer is ON but ichat is not started people can still send you Messages.
    Instead of saving these on the server until you login iChat will start up.
    Depending if the home Mac is effecting the Work Login it may be holding sway over your Login.
    Using your girlfriend's login may have booted her Off Line where she normally uses the name/login.
    The AIM Side can be specifically set to allow Multiple Logins and therefore NOT allow them.  If this happens you get a warning and messages to do something about it.
    You do not get these in any Jabber or Google Login as the Priority setting is supposed to take care of it.
    If the Login works at the Web Mail Login and on one computer then the .plist on the work computer is the most likely issue.
    There is a small chance that a Corrupt Buddy Pic (Home Folder/Library/Caches/com.apple.iChat/Pictures) may be the cause.
    Set this folder to icon view and also use the Finder's View Menu > Show View Options and select icon view.
    This should show all pics as their icon.
    Check that all display properly.
    At this point I would try a COMBO version update install of the last Update you did over what you have.
    This often corrects hard to trace things

I click on upload to creative cloud in ps touch, then I select files to upload, all fine, then I put in my email and password - I have no problem with them, they work fine, I checked on the website. Right after it should sign me in, I get this message: lost connection. please check your connection and try again. My internet connection is working very fine at the moment I sign in through ps touch - keep that in mind. This message keeps showing each time I try to sign in. I have no idea what is wrong. Please help me!

    However, please try to perform the following steps.
    Clean up cached user login information:
    Delete the opm.db file.
    Close the Creative Cloud application.
    Navigate to the OOBE folder.
    Windows: [System drive]:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE
    Mac OS: /Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE folder
    Delete the opm.db file.
    Launch Creative Cloud.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

  • CM1312 NFP: WIndows 7: USB Error message ~"Lost Connection"

    With the 1312 connected to my Windwos 7 desktop, periodically Windows gives an error message that indicates that it has lost connection to the printer.  Unplugging and replugging the USB cable fixes the problem.  Otherwise the print & scan functions work perfectly.  Symptomatically it appears as if the printer goes to sleep and stops responding to whatever "keep alive" messages Windows might be sending.  Is there a setting in the printer, in Windows or in the printer driver software that can prevent this message?
    BTW, the other way to work around this problem is to just access the printer via the Ethernet but the scan funciton is not accessible via the network (an unfortunate limitation).

  • Lost Connection to Camera

    I keep trying to share my movie from iMovie to my video camera. The connection is secure, but I get the message "iMovie lost its connection to the video camera. Please check the connections and try again"
    I have encountered several problems with iMovie since I recently upgraded to Tiger. Any ideas whats going on?

    OR read my super long troubleshooting list (on Your own risk)
    Capture/Import problems:
    a) File-Vault is on - turn it off
    b) don’t Daisy chain camcorder - external hard disk - Mac
    (except for some Canon-Cameras)
    c) Slow hard disk (fragmented: repair permissions, repair hard disk, use a faster hard disk)
    d) Something is occupying the CPU/System, like other programs, Internet etc.
    e) Bad RAM-chips
    f) drop outs on the miniDV-tape - make a camera to camera copy on a tape which You have previous recorded with a time code (dummy recording).
    g) FW-wire cable OK?
    h) Break in the time-code on the miniDV tape (make a camera to camera copy on a tape which is prerecorded with nothing/anything so that the tape has a time-code from beginning to the end)
    i) defective camera TRY IT ON ANOTHER MAC !
    j) remove bookmarks in iMovie project
    k) Do You have desktop pictures or screen-savers active? Try turning them off.

This setting has to do with shooting a movie in one format, and using the camera to import as a different format.     So, case in point: look for a setting on your camera that has to do with the video format and see if that helps.

    I started a movie download go interrupted and now cannot resume.  How do I restart a paid for movie.

    Launch iTunes Store app.
    Tap on "Purchases" tab.  (This assumes you've already logged in to your iTunes account.)
    Tap on "Movies" tab at the top, center of the screen.
    Optionally tap on "Not on This iPad" tab.
    Tap the "Download from iCloud" icon (downward-pointing arrow coming out of cloud icon).

    I'm using a new Linksys WRT54GL router with the DD-WRT v23 firmware -- which is otherwise fabulous, by the way -- but since going with the router iChat has been pretty unreliable. I can't connect to my sister in England (I'm in Canada): we keep getting "insufficient bandwidth" errors (I'm on a very hi-speed cable internet connection, so I don't think it's me!). Moreover, AIM frequently kicks me off iChat with the message "Lost connection with AIM".
    I've configured my router using instructions linked from this forum. I'm forwarding the following ports to my computer:
    5060
    5190
    5220
    5222
    5678
    16384
    And while I can connect to other users okay (except my sister, it seems), staying connected it a real issue. Can anyone recommend a fix?

    This last port should be a group of 20 ports (16384-16403)
    iChat needs 4 ports from this group to do 1-1 Audio or Video chats.
    Many Linksys have UPnP. It is found in the Administration tab. If you have this you could use this. Disable the Port Forwarding if you do.
    Also port Forwwarding points to one IP/computer. If this is the case for you and you still have the device doing DHCP there is a cance you computer's IP has changed if it goes to sleep or is shut down when the lease time runs out.
    Check this on your computer and the Port Forwarding settings.

  • Adobe Flash lost connection @ 30%. Mac install fails.

    I am seeing this all over the forums with no one finding a solution. I have tried everything suggested either in Safari or Firefox including a clean install 3 times!! Even after uninstalling and deleting the flash files in the library, when I go to try downloading and installing it immediately starts at 30% and then I get the error message "Lost connection. Trying to connect...." then it hangs for a bit and then I get "Connection failed. Unable to complete installation." I go to their support link when the install fails but the link that they suggest to download from directly in the final step is "NOT FOUND". See here: Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac
    This same link is showing up in several forums for a solution. I don't know what else to do. I'm posting this to add to the many many others with the same issue in hopes that Adobe will fix this! I am on a MAC OS 10.9.5. Never had this issue before with the flash updates!!!

    I downloaded and was able to install Flash properly. Make sure you do a clean install just to be sure.

    Yeah, my connection gets restored too. It's more a case of the message being annoying. I'll send some feedback to Apple, because clearly the message is redundant and pointless.

    Move your code from init to doGet/doPost. In other words, connect to the database just before firing the query and disconnect after that.

    We've verified that we're not approaching the capacity of the NIC on the server or the network itself. The CPUs on the servers are also well under maximum levels.
    Other than the obvious (i.e. a network connectivity problem), what would cause this error? In other words, under what circumstances is this error displayed?

    Cause : The communication link between this member and the member indicated by %s2 has been broken. However, the set of witnesses indicated by %s1 report no communication issues with %s2. It is therefore assumed that this node is in a state of partial failure, thus resulting in the shutdown of its cluster threads.
    Action : Corrective action is not necessarily required, since the rest of the cluster presumably is continuing its operation and this node may recover and rejoin the cluster. On the other hand, it may warrant an investigation into root causes of the problem (especially if it is recurring with some frequency).

I have full signal strength with my wi-fi and safari is working perfect. I turned it off and restarted it 3 times now. I have an iPad 2 and the app store works flawlessly with it. What is going on?

    Same here on my lpad2. Can access the web just fine from browsers but cannot install new apps or updates in appl store.  Seeing a few others reporting same issue tonight so likely an apple server issue and staff will notice it in network monitors and fix it...sometime this weekend.

    If you get a network timed out error, try disabling the security software on the computer during the download and install.
    You can also try a direct download andinstall by:
    iPod, iPhone and iPad Firmware Download
    Nera the top of the page aretheinstructions for selecing the download for the install.
