I movie video editting. tutorials regarding enhancing movies

This is driving me round the bend and "chat" tell me they cant offer suggestions??????.The turial regarding themes and polish reads:
"To view the different themes available in iMovie, click Themes. Use the pop-up menu at the top of the Themes pane to get a feel for what each theme looks like. Select the Reflection - White theme."
All well and fine except I cannot find a theme button??????????
in "adding photos" it says -"In iMovie, click the Media button to open the iLife Media Browser." so where in heavens sake is this media button? Not in my Imovie it isnt.

I am sure there going to be other nonexistan buttons to further inflame me doubt
Please could someone advise as obviously Apple are worse than useless. I have made my complaint to them

Hi donmalco - a mistake easily made. Apple are changing the version quite frequently, AND of course, charging for it!
iMovie 6 is part of iLife 6, which is a suite of integrated applications for audio and graphics. You must pay to get it.
Tip: when you do decide to upgrade, it is most advisable to retain your previous version - e.g. it's best to complete projects in their version of origin; and sometimes there are issues with new versions (for example, third-party plugins that work in version 5 may not work in version 6).
To retain the older version, go to your Applications folder, and re-name your iMovie as 'iMovie 5' or similar. Then when you install the new version it will not simply replace the older one.

can anyone tell me why when I download or preview a video or tv show that the audio does not match the video? and what do I do to fix it..all software is up to date and I have the latest version of quicktime.Like previous post ( and yes I have repoted it via "contact us" about 3 times now) the "report a problem button" is worthless, you are unable to tell them what the problem is-- also--any new news on error code -50 when downloading music on windows? finally..is there some reference guide to iTunes --this constant doing research to accomodate them is getting real old real fast. Suggestions on addressing these issues would be appreciated The site has more issues than a lifetime subscription to readers digest.

Same problem for me with video not matching audio: it's like watching a dubbed kung-fu film, not what i want to deal with when watching a new episode of Lost.
I've tried everything i can think of to fix it, waste of time. I would just watch instead on amazon Unbox but they don't sell Lost episodes on unbox (the 24/7 telephone tech support for unbox makes Itunes look pretty weak).

  • How do I download movies/videos on my iPad 2, How do I download movies/videos on my iPad 2

How do I download movies/videos on my iPad 2

the movies need to be sync'd through itunes like "templeton peck" said. so if you have movies in itunes it is as simple as going to your device there is a section there that says "movies", and you just "check" the ones you want on your ipad and when done just hit the "apply" button and they will be added to your ipad. i would suggest that you sync movies via the wired method as compared to wireless syncing. wireless syncing a movie will take a lot longer than a wired sync.
if you don't have any movies in itunes but do have them on your computer all you need to do is drag and drop them into the "movies" section in itunes. and then follow the instructions i gave.
if you don't have any movies on your computer you need to convert them, and unfortunately discussing how to break the encryption that comes on commercial dvd's is prohibited here. but there is a plethora of advice and websites on the web and all you need to do is google it.
most of the blu ray dvd's these days also come with a "digital copy" of the movie. if you have a "digital copy" just insert the digital copy into your computer and enter in the "digital copy code" and you can choose to download it to itunes or window media player, you obviously want to choose itunes.
i would also stay away from movies that have digital copies advertised as "ultraviolet digital copy". this is a brand new and it doesn't play well with itunes and you cant play it on your ipad unless you go through "their" app. it's a real pain... right now only a few titles are "ultraviolet" they are "horrible bosses", "green lantern", and the soon to be released "harry potter and the deathly hallows part 2" (11/11/11).
you can also just buy the movies from itunes. that is what i did on the "ultraviolet" dvd's i wanted to watch on my ipad.

  • CS6 Video Editing Tutorial Books?

Can anyone recommend good CS6 video editing tutorials? Preferably a book that covers in-depth video editing in PS. (online tutorials would be helpful as well.)
Specifically I want to select portions of a video and cut it out.  (Could be anywhere in the video) Also paste other video segments into another place within a video. Possibly in the beginning, the end or some where in-between.
    Thxs in advance.

  • What is the best way to back-up and load Hi-8 video onto my i-Mac so I can edit it on i-movie? A camera store will convert it to DVD for $32/120min.ll

What is the best way to back-up my Hi-8 video tapes and then load them onto my i-Mac so I can edit them on i-movie? A camera store will convert them to DVD for $32/120min. Will I lose a lot of quality that way?

Quality is not much of an issue with Hi8, the main issue is age of the tapes.  The older the tapes, the more degraded the images are going to be.  Regardless of how you transfer the video, the quality is going to be pretty much the same.
The "best" way depends on how valuable the images are to you and how many tapes you have.  I did a similar project last winter with a collection of 14 Hi8 tapes that dated from 1994 to 2002.  I bought a converter bridge (Canopus), maximum RAM for my Mac, and a huge hard drive.  I also decided to get Final Cut Express because it had more ability to enhance the pictures after downloading them.  I am very happy with the results, but it cost me nearly $1200 for the upgrades, equipment, and software.
The only other thing to consider is to be sure that if you go with an outside vendor (like the Camera Store) that the files they provide for you will be in a format that iMovie can recognize.
    Good luck.

  • I am trying to edit a .mov video in Premiere Elements 12, but the video and audio do not sync.  They work fine when played in Quicktime.

    Hello,
I am trying to edit a .mov video in Premiere Elements 12, but the video and audio do not sync as soon as I load it into the program.  It appears to work fine in Quicktime.
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. This is the plan.
Open Premiere Elements 12/12.1 to the Expert workspace.
In the Expert workspace, go to File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings.
In the Change Settings area, select the project preset
    NTSC
    AVCHD
    AVCHD LITE 720p30
OK out of there. In the New Project dialog that appears, note that it has your new project preset named.
Be sure to put a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Setting on This Project". And, then OK out of there.
Back in the Premiere Elements 12 Expert workspace, use Add Media/Files and Folders to bring your video
into Project Assets. From Project Assets drag your video to the Timeline Video Track 1/Audio Track 1.
Is there an orange line over the content in the Timeline. See screenshot for orange line to which I am referring.
There should be no colored line over the content if the project preset matches the video properties. But, if you do see
that orange line, then render the Timeline content by pressing the Enter key of the computer main keyboard or press
the Render button above the Timeline.
Do your video/audio now play back in the Edit area monitor in sync?
Please let us know the result, and then we will decide what next.
    Thanks.

  • Used HandBrake to rip video off of my dvd..now I want to edit it in i-movie

the program put the 'rip' to itunes in one or another into movie. neither will open in i-movie. how do I convert this so that I can open it in imovie and edit it to put on to youtube?

Jon, Can you explain this please. What is a compatible compression format and what are extraneous data tracks? I ask as I am trying to edit a file that I made with Nero/PC based and now have used Handbrake to encode that to m4v format and iMovie does not recognize it. I am having a problem with so many various formats.
By this I mean with HandBrake you must convert to an MP4 container with MPG4/AAC or H.264/AAC compressed data using compatible video profiles and not include things like a chapter track. The safest approach would be to use an iPod or TV preset and turn off all extraneous tracks. iMovie '08 will not import files using third-party codecs, hybrid profiles, or certain types of data tracks.

  • Camileo S10 - squashed movie using video editing software

I don't even know what to say.
I have a video that will play fine in windows media player, but if I try to import it into other programs like Camtasia or Sony Vegas, it seems to do this...
    http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/4861/camtasiasux.png
I don't even know how to describe it. It's not slicing it up, because it's been squashed too. So it's just kept the dimentions, shrunk it, and then repeated the image on the end.
It's doing this with a lot of the programs I have and I haven't messed around with the camera at all. It is also recording the files as .avi, which I am not sure it is meant to do.
Any ideas on how to fix my Toshiba camelio S10?

    Hi mate
You said the videos are showing ok using the media player.
Only the video editing software shows these videos squashed
Im not quite sure why, but maybe you should check some settings in theses certain video editing applications
PS: On your pictures I can see that you are using the Camtasia Studio.
The first clip contains an edit option 1280x720, Shrink to fit. Maybe this is the reason why the clips show squashed

  • Want to reproduce choppiness in actors movements through editing/plugin ?

I recently watched a video that the actor's movements were intentional somewhat jerky/choppy through some editing and I would like to reproduce the choppiness. It seems to add a nice comedic effect to the video. How do you think this was done?
    Here's the link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=EuWT4WBd1eM
    Thanks for any input.
    Damon

I only suggested Strobe for working on something that's already "in the can". But...
I had to watch the video again -- last night I was completely distracted answering some questions while in the middle of putting together a 16 Point mask in Motion (which **should be** a trivial task, but it's not...:/ -- by the end, a single action would take about 10 minutes... [but patience paid off!]) and I agree with you that the video was shot at a "slower tempo" (but not necessarily "slower") and then sped up in post.  One of the nice things about FCPX is that you can change the speed of the video without sacrificing the pitch of the audio (i.e., you won't turn everyone into Mickey Mouse if you speed it up.) Preserve Pitch is on by default, isn't it?
Anyway, here's a speed change/pitch unchanged demo (my "take" on Here Comes the Sun)-- the intro is normal speed, the rest is 133% (no "retuning" necessary).
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rm8OPDsx5PQ
Putting this together led me to another consideration: @ the 39 second mark, there was a pause in my playing that I edited out leading to the "jump" in the action (it's still a terrible cut, but I was in a hurry). I figure a good way to enhance the effect is to "choreagraph" pauses into the filming and edit them out in post in order to maintain a specific tempo. And, some pretty weird stuff can be done changing speeds all over the place (within limits, of course.)
[PS - the video quality is atrocious... but I finally found something to use it for! I was sitting in semi-shade - one camera pointed at the tail [almost completely "blown out" by sunlight -- no amount of "color correctlion" will save it] and the other pointed at the fingerboard. I can't even use it for an instructional video... oh well. BTW - that poor old beaten up Takamine is 50 this month!]

Let us start from the beginning.
It has been established that you have Premiere Elements 10. On what computer operating system is it running?
There has not been a File Menu/Export/Movie export opportunitity in Premiere Elements since version 7. We are not up to version 12.
For Premiere Elements 10, your export opportunities are all in Share/ including one for Computer. Under Computer there are several choices. The ones that you see are Adobe Flash Video, MPEG, and AVCHD. The others you have to scroll down to. And those choices are AVI, Windows Media, QuickTime, Image, and Audio. You do not have to use the scroll bar for this. You can click on Adobe Flash Video panel to get it to turn black. Then use the down arrow to go down the list and the up arrow to go up the list. Once you get to a category, you can select a preset and go with it or customize it under the Advanced Button/Video Tab and Audio Tab of the preset.
If you post the properties of your source media that you want to try to match in the export, I would be glad to suggest the exact settings for you.
We will be watching for your follow up with details.
    Thank you.
    ATR
Add On...The Premiere Elements 10 File Menu is for more than Saving, just not exporting. One of the key features that can be access there is the Project Archiver. More on that another time.

  • What's the best WMV to MOV Video Converter?

    Hi,
What's the best .WMV to .MOV Video Converter?
I'm trying to edit imported .WMV files in iMovie HD but iMovie HD doesn't seem to recognize .WMV files.
Any help would be greately appreciated,
    Thank you.

Those other posters are steering you in the right direction. Flip4Mac is the best thing for this, and all the paid functions will work in the free downloaded version, there's just some limitations on the length of any one clip, and a watermark on the video, but it will let you see how well it works...well worth the affordable $.

I had all my old home video's and super 8 movies converted to DVD's. Since I will move back to Europe I asked the company to convert them to PAl system. I just got all the DVD's for a lot of money, but I can not play any of them on my MAC book.(I think that is because they were burned on zone 1 dvd's and my lap top works with zone 2.
I wonder how I can make them work on my macbook..? I intended to start editing those movies so I need to be able to play them on my mac. Is there a way to copy them to zone 2 DVD's and or to zone 0 dvd's and where do I get those free zone or zone 1 recordable dvd's?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
The Apple TV 2 will play all the content in your iTunes library that your Apple TV 1 does. It can no longer sync any of it but can stream it all just as the older model did. Airplay is a different feature that lets you stream from an iPad/iPhone, the Apple TV 2 has Airplay the first didn't.
You can still sort and search content by genre, it still marks content watched and unwatched and mainly still lets you organise much as the Apple TV 1 did, with one exception. It doesn't do nested folders, so the ability to tag a movie as a show (ie James Bond) and have all the associated movies in a James bond folder has gone and it lists all these movies individually.
It has a similar situation with TV shows. It will put all TV shows in a series in a folder as the older one did, but the new one lists each series separately whereas the older model would put all the series in one folder.
Not nesting folders is a bit of a pain with large libraries and whilst I don't like it, it's more or less the only compromise I have to make and of course I get additional features too.

  • How can I move videos to computer without syncing

Can anyone suggest how I can move video clips to my computer from the playbook which will not sync now that I have update the lastest software. They are too big to send in an email. When I tried to upload them to a youtube account, the file was rejected because the name looked like VD 000164.mp4. In edit mode in the video file I have the vast array of editting options: delete or cancel. I cannot change the name as it is uploading.. Any way to salvage this as a video camera?

Personally, for this type large file transfer, I use the PlayBook's WiFi Sharing as described in the initial solution in this Knowledge Base article.
