I must install an older Flash Acitve X control

Hi,
I use two third party softwares that usually communicate with each other through Flash and Active X Controls.
Unfortunately, after upgrading Flash Player and Active X to v.10, I´ve been unable to make this work.
I already knew about some flash issues concernig this specific thing and I know that it should work fine if downgrade to early 9 versions.
I downloaded all v.9 verions from adobe, but I´ve been unable to install an older version of the Active X. No matter what I do, I get a message telling me that there´s a newer version of the Active X and that I should download and install it from Adobe.
I need to be able to install an older version of Active X. Any clues?
Thanks a lot,
Paulo

What is the exact and full message you are getting?
Have you ever used a Flash Player beta version that you did not uninstall?
What is your operating system (32-bit or 64-bit)?
After you run the uninstaller, do you have any files left in C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash (32-bit) or C:\Windows\syswow64\Macromed\Flash (64-bit)?

  • I can't install an older version of flash player and the new one won't work.

I've read on the boards everyone says to run the Adobe uninstaller prior to trying to install the older version and I did, but the download still says it can't install the older version because it isn't the current version. And the current version isn't running on my computer. All I have is a black screen. I need the adobe flash player to for work purposes and it is really hindering my ability to function at work without it. Can someone please provide some kind of help that may actually work? Because I've uninstalled and reinstalled this several times. I have tried adjusting settings...everything I have found on the boards so far.

My experience (going back to a G5 iMac in 2005) is that you MUST install the lower version first in order to run two different versions on the same machine. I did it that way with CS and CS3, then CS3 and CS4, and later on my MacBook with CS4 and CS5. Now my Mini has CS5.5 and CS6, but I've always had to install the lower CS version first or the higher would keep the lower from installing.
So you will probably have to remove CS4 and then reinstall them both in the proper order.
Is there any particular reason you want or need both? In my case, I already had CS 3 and installed CS4 in addition, but later removed CS3 as I found CS4 was able to do everything CS3 did and then some. In fact I'm unaware of anything aside from some older filters that would run better in CS3 than CS4.

  • I deleted my version of Adobe Flash Player for the latest version and then it wouldn't install. Now I have no version and need advice as to trying to install an older version or what?

Since the latest version of Adobe Flash Player wouldn't install after deleting the version I had that did work, should I try to install an older version?
I just checked in the control panel and my add/remove programs and listed is Adobe Flash Player Active X, version 11.1.102.55. But when I tried to view a video I could not and got a message saying I needed Adobe Flash Player. Now I'm really confused?????

    Hi,
What does "still won't work" mean?  Flash Player 10.3.183.90 is very old.  You might find that many sites require a newer version of Flash Player to view content, perhaps this is what you mean by "still won't work".   Depending on your system, you may be able to upgrade to OS X 10.6 which will enable you to install the newest version of Flash Player.  There's lots of information on this on the internet.  Just search for "upgrade OS X 10.5.8 to 10.6" or similar.

  • I want to re-install an older version of Flash Player but...

I hope this is the right place to ask this question...
I have a new dual processor pentium laptop and I upgraded to Flash V10.1 a couple of days ago. One web site I access regularly has now slowed right down and the video is unwatchable. My CPU meter runs at over 70% so I simply wanted to uninstall V10.1 and re-install V9. For whatever reason (I don't know if it is laptop, Win7 or Adobe), I am prevented from loading the older version. An Adobe window pops up and says that this (V9) is not the latest version, stops the install and points me back to the Adobe site to download the latest version. I have followed all of the guides to ensure proper uninstallation of V10.1. All very frustrating!
    Can anyone help - please?
    Thanks
    Ian

OK, here I am replying to myself but perhaps others may gain from this solution. Remember, this original post was "how to stop Adobe preventing me from installing an older version and forcing me to take the latest version...". I just wanted to re-install an older version to prevent big CPU usage and stuttering video. Well, this is what fixed it for me an allowed me to install Adobe Flash V9...
Assuming you have properly uninstalled Adobe Flash Player v10.n, you need to remove a folder and files from your registry. If you are unhappy to do this, then ask an expert - the registry is not somewhere you want to get lost in. I am also assuming you have the correct system permissions, Anway this is what I did:
    1. Go to start button and find (and run) REGEDIT.EXE
    2. Rather than give you a specific path to follow, it is best to simply use REGEDIT to find the folder by clicking "Edit" then "Find".
    3. You are looking for a folder called "SafeVersions".
    4. When you find it, it may show a number of safe versions (previous loads of the player).
    5. From the left window pane, right click on the aforementioned folder then click "Delete"
    6. Respond to any prompts you might get, like, "do you want to do this..." etc.
    7. Close down all applications in the normal manner and reboot.
    8. When restarted, go back on line and download the V9 (or whatever version you want). You'll know its a good 'un as it loads in a fraction of the time.
    9. Go back to your web page or whatever and, hey presto, everything is back to what it was before that hungry V10.n was uploaded.
Hope that helps, it might be nice if the Adobe uninstaller deleted this registry entry, but it doesn't - or at least in Win7 on my PC, it didn't.
Let me know it the above works for you.
    Thanks and good luck

  • Help! I am in a site that keeps telling me that I must install Adobe Flash Player before it will allow me to go further but my computer says that it is installed. What do I do?

What is wrong with my computer or is it the program site that I am in? It keeps telling me that I must install Adobe Flash Player but Adobe says it is installed and up dates do not apply. Help because I cannot go further on the site that I am on and it is a secure site that I have used many times in the past.

What browser are you using? So you have a website pulled up and it is a full screen flash player trying to play or is it a area of the page with a player claiming on the player to install flash?
Check out this link:  Flash Player Help
    1. Test your Flash Player for versions to make sure nothing happened with that link. If Adobe's Flash Player test through this link says your player is working and up to date then,,,
    2. Check your add-ons or extensions, depending on the browser for what they are called. Make sure Flash Player extensions are enabled. That allows it to play within a webpage.
    3. Check your Flash Player settings itself. There are settings where you restrict, approve, and so on in different ways. The link I shared with help guide you.
    4. Check parental settings. My son plays on this parental control software that always restricts the Flash Player with his games, or videos on Disney, Nick, and other channel websites.
5.I used to have a computer that claimed this all the time. It drove me crazy. I found out for that computer that it did not like an update so I uninstalled and reinstalled flash player. I made sure the Adobe page showing the Flash Player was reinstalled correctly came up, then closed all my browser pages, then reopened to make sure not permission spot popped up to ok for future use.
Let me know if this helps. If not, share your computer and browser type.

  • Flash player v10.02.159 won't install - how can I install an older version?

Hi all, any help will be appreciated.
I've read all the relevent posts in this forum and tried the various suggestions. (used the Adobe uninstaller, used the various packages on the x64 help page; clean installs and uninstalls with RevoUninstaller Pro) shockwave for director is on Firefox, but would not even download on IE. (I don't use IE anyway, but...)
    I am running XP pro x64. I have Firefox v3.6.16 and Internet Explorer v 8 32 bit. I don't have the 64 bit installed.
When I updated to v 10, it wouldn't install on either browser. The error message for the Flash player 10.2 installer reads:
I am also running Chrome. I never updated the player, so it works on there (thank goodness!) (Nothing shows in the extensions folder)
I tried to install an older package, flashplayer 9r280_win.exe and Brothersoftdownloader_for_Adobe_Flashplayer. - clean installs and uninstalls each time., also with no luck.
Can someone tell me how to install an older version until the 64 bit version works for me? Or - if there is a fix that has not been posted yet - I'm game to try.
    Ta

You could try if the MSI installer works better; download it from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
If it does not, archived FP versions can be found at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html

  • To play this game, you must install Flash Player!

I'm going crazy.  I get messages to update my 11, then verify and it is installed.  Have followed all Internet Tools instructions to fix it, to no avail.  I can get into some games, then others tell me I must install Flash Player.  I moan at this time, "Not again!"  I'm too old to mess with it anymore, so taking one more shot at having someone get it fixed!

Download the following files by right clicking and selecting "Save target as"
    Flash Player Uninstaller
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
Save ALL files to your Downloads folder - DO NOT RUN anything yet.
    Reboot your system.
BEFORE opening anything else, go to your Downloads folder and run the UNINSTALLER to remove all instances of Flash Player.
    Next, run the ActiveX Installer.
Lastly, run the Installer for other browsers.
Once Flash Player is installed go to: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/#sp
Download BOTH files, the one on the right FIRST by right clicking and selecting "Save target as"... the other by clicking and following the steps to dwonload the FULL ActiveX installer.
After running the "Slim" installer, run the FULL installer from your downloads folder.
Once everything is installed, see:Enabling Flash Player in Internet Explorer  and: ActiveX Filtering in Internet Explorer  to make 100% sure that Flash Player is enabled and NOT being blocked by ActiveX controls.

  • Installing Older Flash Players

Is it possible to get an install url for older flash players,
if you're targeting an organization that's locked down on an older
version? That is, if I'm building a Flash/Flex application for a
corporate client, is there a way to set up the autodetect script so
that instead of prompting them to install Flash Player 10, it might
instead point them to Flash Player 9.0.124, if that were their
    corporate standard?
I don't see any way of doing that, with the possible
exception of a flash player distribution license, but I figured I'd
confirm that with th e rest of you.

I saw those -- although they come in a large zip file with
lots of versions -- I certainly wouldn't want to have employees of
the target organization download the zip file and install them --
ideally, I'd like it to work much as it does now with the 10.x
line, where I direct them to an Adobe site where they get the
version i've been licensed to distribute.
That said, I'm already looking into the distribution license
as an option, so if that ends up working, hopefully I'll find out
    soon enough.

  • Why can't i install an older version of Flash for IE9 after uninstalling the new version?

Having uninstalled version 11.2.202.233 due to audio problems, why can i not install an older version (11.1.102.62) for IE9?

You should install the updated version 11.1.102.63 that contains a security update.

  • How do I re-install Safari adobe flash drive?

How do I re-install the adobe flash drive?  We have had it for years and now it is  gone.  Message says "missing plug in".  We have tried to un-install the old one and re-install the new one for the past many months.  Our computer is a Mac, OSX, version 10.5.8, safari.  Everything else works great on the computer.

Depends on what Mac you have:
You can check here what version of Flash player you actually have installed:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version,10.3.183.23 or later, is for Intel Macs only running Tiger or Leopard, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.4.402.265 or later is for Snow Leopard onwards.
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC (G4 or G5) Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. Flash Player 10.1.102.64 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, try the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the version 11.5.502.55:)
Download this http://scriptogr.am/nordkril/post/adobe-flash-11.5-for-powerpc to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

  • Installing the adobe flash player in windows vista home premium service pack 1

    Hi,
I have been having some problems downloading this for over a year now even when I reinstall or reboot my pc or whatever, even change the security settings so I need your help. I found the support center which said:
http://http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#Download but then I dont even know how to locate the flash folder, where is that? How do I find it?
then do I have to highlight 10a before right clicking it? otherwise where do I right click exactly? when you say to run the flash player installer, do you mean to just click it? Cause I did and it came on but then even after downloading or installing the uninstaller and running it then installing again, it wont work even when I do that and then reboot my pc...Is there any possibility that it cant work on my pc? How would I know?
See...Im no tech expert so I really need your help. Please reply asap. Thanks a lotttt!!!

Hi, well I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. We'll see what the problem may be. First to answer your question,
the OS means operating system. Which if you are using Windows, then your OS is Vista. It could be XP or the newest one
which is Windows7, Win7 for short. Now if someone is using a Mac, then that would be their OS.
Now your computer and all computers can install and run Flash Player. However there are a few things that can cause a problem, so I'll list a few.
The first thing and most important is that you must be the Administrator of your computer. If this is your computer and you set up the accounts, the first account set up would be the Administrator account. You can look at that as the "Boss"
Now some people will set up accounts for other people but they are not Administrator accounts, they are called User or Limited accounts. They cannot be "Boss":-) There are some other things, but I'm stating it this way, so you can better understand.
When you Install programs, like Flash Player, you have to use the Administrator account to do so.
Don't think you are the only one having problems. We'll find out what it is and fix it.
Since using the Administrator account is the most important, I want you to go down to where the clock it. With your mouse, right click over the time that is showing. Then when the small window opens, left click on Adjust Date/Time.
Then post back and tell me what you saw.
    Thanks,
    eidnolb
