The iPod requires more than twice the file downlooad size in order to downoad and install an app.  You need to free up storage space as the mesage says.

  • Hi all, I'm trying to download a film from iTunes onto my iPad but downloaded the HD version instead of SD and don't have the room to download it. Have removed everything I can to make space but still need another 1.2 GB. How can I delete it??

Hi all, I'm trying to download a film from iTunes onto my iPad but downloaded the HD version instead of SD and don't have the room to download it. Have removed everything I can to make space but still need another 1.2 GB. Is there any way I can delete it so I can delete the version I wanted, or even better change to the SD version? The film is still queuing in the downloads list. I've tried edit and delete but that doesn't work. I also can't re-download the film from iTunes.
    Any suggestions very welcome!

  • When i try to download an app (Fifa 13) it says there is not enough available local storage to download "fifa 13 by ea sports". what do i do

when i try to download an app (Fifa 13) it says there is not enough available local storage to download "fifa 13 by ea sports". what do i do?

What size ??GB is the download file? How much free storage space do you have?
The ??GB is the download file compressed size (like .zip or .dmg). When the file is installed/uncompressed it can be 2-3 times larger.
How much space is your Other using? You may be able to reduce.
How Do I Get Rid Of The “Other” Data Stored On My iPad Or iPhone?
    http://tinyurl.com/85w6xwn
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

  • I have deleted my private folder and do not have enough space to reinstall my operating system. How can i transfer files from my hard drive to an USB drive to free up space when the operating system isn't working. or do i need to erase disk?

i have deleted my private folder and do not have enough space to reinstall my operating system. How can i transfer files from my hard drive to an USB drive to free up space when the operating system isn't working. or do i need to erase disk through disk utilities without erasing data (but will it delete my programs such as photoshop, office, creative suite?

Connect the computer to another Mac and put it in FireWire Target Disk mode, or use the Disk Utility to clone the drive or image specific folders with the USB drive as the target. After you've copied off everything you want, you'll likely need to erase the drive and reinstall the applications.

  • I have 25 G.B. but I can't download it says I don't have enough room and that I have to get rid of other stuff.

I have and bought 25G.B. on my iPad but when I want to download something it says I don't have enough room what gives??

As it happens, Apple does make a device to reading SD cards on an iPad, but its use is limited to copying photos and movies from camera memory cards. It is bundled with a similarly limited USB adapter; the two together are marketed as the Camera Connection Kit.
There are also third-party devices that store music, videos, and the like loaded from a Mac or PC and provide a small wifi network to which an iPad can connect to access the contents.

  • Install needs 12g.  You have 950g.  You do not have enough room.

So I upgraded my Vista computer to Windows 7 and in the wipe-out process moved Windows from my C drive to the D drive, since D was smaller.  I thought: I'll put the system on the smaller partition and keep the big partition for all my software.
So, I have a 1TB drive.  The Windows system is on the D: partition that is 16g.  The other partition, C:, where my programs are to be installed is 916g.  As a result of the upgrade process, of course, I now have to reinstall all my software.  Up to the "Adobe point" all has gone well and everything works.
But now I'm trying CS4 Master Collection (which I had on the computer *before* the W7 upgrade).  I put in the install disk, the CD churns.  It asks for my serial number, then the number for my old CS3 that I'm upgrading from.  So far so good.
Then it asks:  "Where do you want to install it?  Should I put it in D:\ProgramFiles\Adobe? or do you want a new location?"
Of course, I want a new location so I point the installer to C:\Adobe...
Off to the right is a little box that says (and I'm making up the numbers, but you'll get the idea):  Available space: 950g, Space required for install 12g.
Good!  I click Install.  An error box appears:
"You do not have enough room to install the software.  Install will now exit."
...wait...what?  It needs 12g of space and I have 950g....and that means there's *NOT* enough room?
    Clues?

You gain NOTHING by partioning a drive and installing the programs on a separate partition. Additionally, 16 gigs for system drive is insanely small.
I have a one TB drive and the system partition is 150 gigs. It is where Windows and all programs are installed.
The error could be better worded but the point is you don't have enough room on the system drive.
This is not an Adobe issue. Had you installed CS4 first you might have gotten away with it until you tried installing something else.
Your system, as currently configured is a disaster waiting to happen. I suggest you rething the way you have that system configured since all Windows programs require space on the system drive for temp install files as well as permanent system files.

When I try to download an iTunes software update i get an error message that my start up disk does not have enough room.  What do I do?

You probably have run out of space, I would delete (or move to an external drive) things that aren't being used as much.

I am trying to download a movie from itunes, but ithere's isn't enough room to download. I have a iphone4, have deleted every app possible. Slimmed down photos to hardly anything. I could never update to ios7 because of storage problems. Only 2.5 GB available out of 5GB after deleting everything. I'm also out of town and cannot connect to a computer. I have wifi access though. Help?

    Update
OK, Today I went ahead & booted & tried again & it worked this time.
Not sure why it didn't yesterday. Maybe the servers were just overloaded? Several others reported similar.
Also yesterday when I ran Speedtest it showd download at about 25 mbps, This morning just before I re-started the download it was showing just above 30 mbps.  So maybe the internet was less busy? Or at least the parts between me & the test server.
& so far it is working ok.

  • HT201232 I puchased lord of the rings extended trilogy and did not have enough storage on my 16 gb ipad mini. It only downloaded the first movie. Is there a way i can view the other 2 or get a refund?

I Purchased lord of the rings extended trilogy but do not have enough storage on my ipad mini 16gb. onky 1 movie fit, is there a way to view the other 2 or to get a refund?

To have them all on your iPad at the same time you would need enough free space, which you won't have on a 16 gig model.
You might be able to download them on your computer's iTunes, possibly via the Store > Check For Available Downloads menu option, or by going to the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage. If you can you can then sync/watch them one at a time to your iPad, or stream them from your computer's iTunes to your iPad via homesharing : homesharing will need to be enabled on both your computer's iTunes (File > Home Sharing menu option) and iPad (Settings > Videos) ; both will need to connected to the same wifi network ; and iTunes on your computer will need to be open ; you should then get a 'shared' library option in the Videos app on your iPad

  • TS1702 When I try to reload The Sims FreePlay (sister deleted accidentally) from Apps Store I keep getting an error message "There is not enough avaiable storage to download "The Sims FreePlay". I check my settings and I do have enough available storage.

When i try to reload The Sims FreePlay (sister accidentally deleted) from App Store I keep getting error message. There is not enough available storage on my device but there actually is enought storage. Not sure why I cannot get App to reload. I have synced to my computer. Help!

To download/install an app directly to the iPod you need available storage equal to about three times the file download size. Syncing the app to the iPod requires a lot less. Thus you either have to free up more storage or sync the app from your computer.

  • Saying there isn't enough room to download, but there is

I have a 2nd gen itouch. When I tried to download an app that was around 200 megs, it wouldn't let me. Even though I have close to 500 available. Please try to explain why this is happening. Thank you.

Whilst the application only is 200 MB in size, to install it takes more than that. I've seen people here with the same problem as you and it generally comes down to the ipod touch needing more than just a teeny bit of spare memory in order to install things and function properly.
I've seen more seasoned users advising people to not fill their ipod all the way to full as it helps with functionality, but in this case I would try deleting a few more things to release more free memory and trying again .. I cannot guess quite how much you might need, but the ipod will tell you by letting it install.

  • HT4847 I have bought extra iCloud storage, I have 23GB storage left but when I try to update FIFA 13 it says there isn't enough local storage!!! How do I use the iCloud storage?!?! Thank u

I Have bought extra iCloud storage, I have 23GB of storage left but when I try to update fifa13 it says there's isn't enough local storage?!?!

Thay's correct. Buying iCloud storage does not increase the local storage capacity of your iPad.
Your iPad will always have the 16, 32 or 64GB of storage you bought it with.
iCloud storage is space on Apple's iCloud servers - not on your device.
You'll need to clear some space on your iPad to make room for apps.

  • HT1338 The new update is here and ready to be downloaded to my computer.  When I try and install it, I get a message that there is not enough room on my start up disc.  I have no clue.  I have tried to resolve it and am no getting anywhere. HELP! Huge Tha

The new update for my computer is ready to be installed. When I try and install it, I get a message that my start up disc is full and does not have enough room.  I have tried every avenue I can think with no resolve, of course, I am not a computer genious.  Can anyone at all help? Thank you so much.

You need to discard or save to an external disk and then discard some of the stuff we all tend to keep forever (movies, music, pictures, docs, apps no longer used, etc.). A clogged up disk also does not function ideally either.
