I need a another final cut express 4 serial number

I recently bought a mac mini and I wanted to transfer final cut express 4 from my macbook pro.
Is there any way I can buy another serial number without having to purchase the software again? I already have it on a disk.

I'm pretty sure you need to buy another copy then, but call them or try...

I have used Final Cut Express for two years. I just upgraded to Leopard. Now when I try to open up Final Cut Express I get a request for info about FCE licensing. They want name etc and serial # of Final Cut Express that is located on front page of original software booklet. I do not seem to have that
book nor the serial number. Computer will not continue on with out that information. I can not open

In encountered a similar problem after the main logic board was replaced in my iMac. I was unable to locate my original serial number. Since I had bought the iMac from Apple with FCE pre-installed, they were able to generate a new serial number for me. I now have that number saved in at least four places...in a text file on the computer...in the manual...on the original disc package...and on the update disc package.

I recently upgraded from imovie to final cut express, and i have no clue how to cut out scenes that i dont want!! i'm making a mountain biking movie and theres lots of scences that turned out bad that i want to cut out please help me learn how to cut scenes!!

Welcome to the family, glad you came.
There is a specific forum for FCE, back up one or two forums or try Home and you will find it in the FC area. FCE is a very powerful editing platform and it doesn't work anything like iMovie did.
Do yourself a big favor and take the time to run the tutorials. You will learn how to trim your clips and place them in the timeline with transisions. Each of your clips can be trimmed by dragging the in and out points around. It's a blast.
You will need lots of patience as you move from iMovie into the sophistication and creative flexibility of FCE. All of that creativity requires careful attention and you must learn how to talk to the application. It's not particularly difficult, it's just that there are so many different ways to do even the most basic things.

Final Cut Express Serial with broken Mac

I bought Final Cut Express but lost the computer first (hard disc failure, not recoverable) and then my pack for the software with the serial. I do have a serial for Final Cut Express written down but it does not seam to work. Any idea what I can do?
PS I tried to contact Apple online but wasn't able to find any address where I can write my stuff to. I have a proof of purchase but whom can I ask? The support site looks like a labyrinth.

What acp card do I need to operate Final Cut Express?

I recently installed Final Cut Express and got a message that it cannot work without and ACP card. Which one and where can I buy it?

I should add that with the release of FInal Cut Pro X, both Final Cut Express & Final Cut Studio have been removed from the Apple store & authorized resellers. So there's actually no upgrade to FCE 4 available any more unless you can find a copy that may still be in some store's inventory somewhere, or perhaps on eBay. For example, B&H still seem to have it available, for $79.95 - but that could disappear any time. (On the B&H website, search for "Final Cut Express" then scroll through the list to find the upgrade package.

Final Cut and Serial Number

I had Final Cut Studio 5.1 intalled on my Powerbook G4. Then, my computer was sent in and I was without for a month. So while it was away, I put Final Cut Pro on my home computer to finish my film for school. When I got my laptop back, I tried uninstalling Final Cut Pro on my home computer, but didn't have the installation disk, so I just simply trashed the 'Final Cut Studio System ID' on my home computer so that I couldn't use the program.
So, now Final Cut works fine on my Powerbook. But, I accidently updated to 5.1.4 - while my school computers are still on 5.1.2. So I wanted to uninstall Final Cut, and then re-install it so that the applications would be compatable. But, when I insert my Final Cut Studio Installation Disk, it asks for my serial number, which I put in - but the 'Continue' button never lights up.
I also went to the website to register my product so that I could download the 5.1.2 update...entered my serial number and it told me it was an invalid number.
I'm entering the exact same number in the exact same way that I originally did on my Powerbook. Is there anything I can do? The only time the serial number has ever been on another computer before was when it was on my home computer, but I hadn't registered it, and then I removed it - so my laptop is the only computer I have Final Cut on. Why isn't this working? It's quite frustrating when I need an edit for my class tomorrow and I can't work on it.

That's good to know, thank you very much. I was wanting to use it on my G5 this Summer (same one I installed it in before).
I'm entering the fields exactly as I had originally entered them, and I'm using the right letter/number (O/0 or I/1) when applicable. But it still won't let me continue.
I even trashed the 'Final Cut Studio System ID' on my PowerBook, then opened Final Cut, it asked me for the serial number - I entered it, exactly as I had been trying with the disk, and it worked. But it still won't work on the installation disk.
Also, I did a bit of editing on the PowerBook (5.1.4) and then moved to my school's computers (5.1.2) expecting them not to be able to open the file, but it did. I know that 5.1 and 5.1.1 weren't compatable with 5.1.2, so how is 5.1.2 compatable with 5.1.4? Regardless, this is good news.

Final Cut Studio Serial Number

I am thinking of finally getting a Mac Pro, which will require upgrading Final Cut Studio and all that fun stuff.
In looking for my original FCS DVDs, I realize they were lost in a move last year. I can't find the install DVDs, the booklet or the serial numbers!!!
What info can I get off of my hard drive to be able to install FCS 3 on a new computer?

Cannot get Final Cut Pro Serial Number to work on second Mac (iMac)

I have Final Cut Pro 7.0 installed on my MacBook Pro. I have been trying unsuccessfully to install it on my iMac, using the original 6.0 serial code since I upgraded to 7.0 Any suggestions?

That's not how it works. You need to input the serial number that came with the FCS upgrade +and then+ the serial from the original full retail copy when prompted.

Final Cut upgrade serial number problems

A few years ago I upgraded Final cut Pro 4 to the first Final Cut Studio release, which included Final Cut Pro 5. I just recently had to wipe my hard drive and start over, but now I can't seem to install Final Cut Studio. It's asking for the serial number, and I'm using the serial number from Final Cut Pro 4, but it's not working.
My question: am I missing a serial number? I was under the impression that Final Cut upgrades use the serial number from the original full version you are upgrading from.

Final Cut Studio Serial Number Conflict

I have a Macbook Pro and a Macpro connected to the same network. Both have different FCStudio with different serial numbers. During the last update on my Macpro I was prompted to enter the serial number. I entered the Macbookpro's serial by mistake. Now, every FCS app refuses to start when it finds the same serial on the other mac.
Can I change the serial after install?

Help needed for a Final Cut Express project Compression

Hi guys,
This is my first post as I usually find answers to all my questions reading through the various thread. I just haven't found an answer to my last pb yet hence the new topic. Hope you guys can help.
I have got this very simple slideshow that I need to burn onto DVD. The issue is that it's LONG. It's an hour and 17 minutes and i have no idea what is the best way to compress/export this so I can burn this on a single layer DVD.
I tried various options and it suddenly stops because I "only" have 13GB of free space on my macbook. 13GB!!!! How will this ever fit on a DVD? and this is with medium quality...
please help!

Woke up this morning and the burning never started because the file was too big. I exported the file from FCE and it was 16GB! iDVD never managed to fit it in my single layer DVD. Am I using iDD correctly?
I am thinking I need to compress this further on FCE right? I don't understand why such a simple movie (although very long) can take so much space. It's only about 900MB of JPGs and 120MB of music. I don't want to bring the quality down to "low" because it won't look good.
So far, I have been exporting using quicktime conversions and I tried the following formats: tried exporting in AVI and QuickTime Movie. For the compression type, I tried DVCPRO50-NTSC on medium quality (with AVI) and Photo-JPG & DVCPRO50-NTSC again (with QuickTime Movie) both on slightly better than medium quality. Results all were well above 10GB.

Final Cut Express 4

I need help with final cut express 4, i was told when when i purchased this software that it would work with final cut pro, i have tried to put my film from final cut pro onto express and it says that the file is too new, what does this mean and can it be fixed? thanks so much

is there no way that i can use them both together? because i was told by a man who sold me express that i could use both together. For example i could do work on my university macs and then bring it home and work on it at home.

How to install Final Cut Express on a different mac

my dead iMac is under repair. Now, I need to install Final Cut Express on a different machine but I don't understand if this is possible. I mean, at the end of the process the installer will ask me to register the product, but the product is yet registered. And i'm not going to torrent final cut studio... I bought the original sw!

Having trouble reinstalling Final Cut Express after uninstall with FCS remover.
