I need a bookmarks sidebar with a scroll arrow.

Hello,
I need a bookmark setup like I had in IE. A side panel with a scroll arrow if possible.
I am running Windows 7 on a new computer with cable.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you,
Jim Franchetto

There is a Bookmarks Sidebar. The quickest way to display it is to press Ctrl+b (this also closes it). Note that if your cursor is in a text editor, Ctrl+b might be intercepted to bold text instead of opening the sidebar.
Does that work the way you would like it to work?

  • How do I set Firefox 29 to always show the bookmarks sidebar with one click instead of a drop down menu?

I've decided to just get used to Firefox 29 instead of messing with add-ons and what not to make it look like it used to but one thing that is too ingrained is a favorites/bookmarks sidebar with one click. I just don't like the drop down menu. Is there a way to set the "Bookmarks" button to show the sidebar in one click?

I want the bookmarks sidebar button. This should be a BASIC feature available, not something I need to install an add-on for to revert to some "classic restore". Why is something so straightforward and easy to use considered "classic", and everything has to be hidden and hard to see in this new version? All the colours in the new tabs BTW are are BLUE, and they blend in with the background at the top, you can't see the tab edges - whose bright idea is this?

  • Bookmark sidebar will not scroll and bookmarks will not open in Firefox 7 or 8

Cannot get past Firefox 6 without probelms with Bookmarks sidebar. Sidebar will not scroll and folders will not open to reveal bookmark contents. Had this problem with Firefox 7 and again with Firefox 8. Would like to use latest version for security reasons, but it is useless to me if I can't access bookmarks

    Try:

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Bookmark sidebar will not scroll and bookmarks will not open in Firefox 7

After updating Firefox to version 7, I am unable to use the Bookmarks sidebar. The sidebar will not scroll, nor will any of the bookmarks respond to a mouse click to open them. Had to uninstall 7 and go back to 6. Any fix for this?

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • How to make bookmark sidebar restore its scrolling position on Firefox start?

Why does Firefox not restore the bookmark sidebar scrolling position and open bookmark folders to the exact state it had when I closed the browser?
I admit to having way too many bookmarks, but especially then restoring the scrolling position and open bookmark folders is essential to me.
Is there any "about:config" setting to adjust this?

    Hello,
Firefox automatically creates backups of your bookmarks, which can be helpful if your bookmarks are lost or missing. To recover them, follow the instructions below.
#Use <u>one</u> of these methods to open the Bookmarks Library window:
#*Click the ''[[Display the Firefox button menu instead of the menu toolbar|Firefox button]]'' to open the menu and click on ''Bookmarks''.
#*Click the ''Bookmarks'' menu and click on ''Show All Bookmarks''.
    # At the top of the Library window, click the "Import and Backup" menu and select Restore.
    # Click the date of the bookmark backup you want to recover.
    # In the new window that appears, click OK.
    # Your bookmarks from the selected date should now be restored.
For more information, see the [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer]] article. For other solutions, see the [[Recover lost or missing Bookmarks]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • Bookmarks sidebar

I closed my bookmarks side bar (on the left hand side of my browser) because I needed the space for something I was working on and cannot find a way to get it back.

You can toggle the Bookmarks sidebar with Ctrl+B: View > Sidebar > Bookmarks
Press F10 or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily if the Menu Bar is hidden.

  • Why can't I scroll with up/down arrows in iTunes 10.5.2

After updating to iTunes 10.5.2, you cannot scroll up or down with the scroll arrows.
The lists only move two clicks when you hold the arrow. There is really is a bug.

Really Annoyed is exactly right. This seems such a simple problem that it's crazy that it can't be solved.
Is it anything to do with iTunes being "overloaded" with files.
I have approx 130GB of music - and about half of them are AIFF files. Does that make a difference?

  • Scroll limit for Bookmarks sidebar?

Is there a vertical scroll limit to the bookmarks sidebar? When I scroll all the way down, there are additional bookmarks not showing in the vertical bar. But they show when I go to Bookmarks menu bar and scroll down and from organize bookmarks. There's like another 4-5 bookmarked sites now showing in the bookmark sidebar

How long have you being using Firefox Sync? Perhaps is taking some time to sync those specific folders. My suggestion is to keep the 2 computers on for an hour if you haven't being using Firefox Sync for a long time to make sure that you give enough time to the system.
If that doesn't work I will suggest to open a bug. Follow the instructions in this link:
    https://philikon.wordpress.com/2011/06/13/how-to-file-a-good-sync-bug/
That will be helpful for you and for other users that may be hitting the same problem you have.

  • I disabled my add ons thinking it would help with slow loading now I lost my bookmarks sidebar. Help

I just want my bookmarks sidebar back and I don't know how to get it. I have all my bookmarks but I can't find the sidebar option. Not sure why everything was loading so slow but I restored my computer to a previous date. Seems to be ok now but, for now, how do I get bookmarks sidebar back.

*Toggle the Bookmarks sidebar on/off via "View > Sidebar > Bookmarks" or Ctrl+B (Command+B on Mac)
*Toggle the History sidebar on/off via "View > Sidebar > History" or Ctrl+H (Command+H on Mac)

  • The bookmarks sidebar keeps popping in and out and I can't get it to stop. I have gone to "View" and tried to hide it but no luck. Any suggestions?

The bookmarks sidebar keeps popping in and out. This shifts the screen making it hard to read or write anything. I have gone to "View" but am unable to stop it. The firefox questions don't address this issue.

Did you check if there were extensions installed in that new profile?<br />
Some programs install extensions globally and appear automatically in a new profile.
    Do a clean (re-)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Don't remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.<br />

  • How to eliminate search box in bookmarks sidebar

this is redundant with search in address bar

The Search box in the Bookmarks Sidebar searches for matches in your bookmarks only.
In the URL/Location/Address bar, type a word or a few words finds matches in Bookmarks and History, Bookmarks only, History only, or Nothing, depending on your settings in:
*Using the Firefox button: Firefox button > Option > Options > Privacy, "Location Bar" seciton
*Using the Menu Bar: Tools > Options > Privacy, "Location Bar" seciton
If there is a way to get rid of the Search box in the Bookmarks Sidebar it would most likely need to be done in the userChrome.css file. I do not know what that would be; maybe someone else will come along who does.

  • I closed my Bookmarks Sidebar but now see no function on the menu to get it back. I'm using 4.0.

The vertical Sidebar is one of the best features of Firefox, but because I use a netbook I sometimes need to close it in order to view the full webpage. The last browser version had a "View" drop-down menu in which one could click and restore the sidebar--in 4.0, however, there is no "View" menu, and the various bookmark functions only deal with the horizontal bookmark toolbar. How do I restore the vertical sidebar?

Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
You can find a toolbar button to open the Bookmarks Sidebar in the toolbar palette and drag it on the Navigation Toolbar or Tab bar.
Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"

  • How to decrease the width of bookmarks sidebar?

I would like bookmarks sidebar to be narrower than allowed by default range for width.
I tried many advices, no success. I tried to create something like userChrome.css with recommended code snippet inside but it did not work. Others were recommending Stylish add on but i do not know what to do with it. The only tool which had been working was ChromEdit Plus add on. But after I reinstalled my sWindows ystem on Sunday, this extension does not seem to be working anymore.
    OS: Windows 7 64 bit
    Firefox version: 26

ChromEdit Plus needs the correct code to do anything, the extension alone does nothing! And that specific code is exactly the same as one would use in a manually creates userChrome.css file. The only real difference is that CEP automatically creates the userChrome.css file ''(and a userContent, css file)'', in the '''/chrome/''' folder which doesn't exist until the user or CEP creates that folder.
That said, the width of the sidebar should be the same as the last time Firefox was closed. IOW, the user set's the size ''(width)'' of the Sidebar they prefer, they close Firefox after using it, and when they open Firefox the next time the width of the Sidebar should be the same as when they last closed Firefox. If it isn't the same, the localstore.rdf might be slightly corrupt, or "something" is messing with the localstore.rdf by changing preferences.

  • CANNOT OPERATE BOOKMARKS SIDEBAR

I need full instructions on how to make a drop-down bookmarks sidebar.

*Toggle the Bookmarks sidebar on/off via "View > Sidebar > Bookmarks" or Ctrl+B (Command+B on Mac)
*Toggle the History sidebar on/off via "View > Sidebar > History" or Ctrl+H (Command+H on Mac)
You can find toolbar buttons to open the bookmarks (star) and the history (clock) in the sidebar in the toolbar palette and drag them on a toolbar.<br />
There are two bookmark buttons with a star in the Customize window (View > Toolbars and Firefox > Options).<br />
One star button has a drop marker that open a Bookmark menu (you may not see the drop marker in the Customize window).<br />
The other star button without the drop marker opens the bookmarks in the sidebar.

  • Bookmarks Folders Freeze In Bookmarks Sidebar

When Bookmarks Sidebar has been open for a few minutes folders tend to freeze.
They can freeze in the open position or the closed position.
Clicking on them will make no difference.
The only way to remedy this is to close the sidebar and go back to View Bookmarks Sidebar.
They will open in the same position, but clicking on them will now work.
This problem has happened through recent versions of Firefox.
I am now on version 35.0.1.
Numerous virus tests have been run, but nothing has shown.
    I use Windows Vista.
As I have a lot of bookmarks I would not like to lose any.
    Would appreciate any help.

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).
'''If Firefox is open,''' you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
    * Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]], click Help [[Image:Help-29]] and select ''Restart with Add-ons Disabled''.
'''If Firefox is not running,''' you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
    * On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac: Hold the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run ''firefox -safe-mode'' <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
''To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
