Hi, Just got my first Macbook, but sent immediately to work overseas, no Apple store!!!!!! No Lessons!!!!!!! Just me and a power plug and a new Macbook.
Been working on Microsoft and Dell virtually all my working life and this is my migration to Apple, I really like what I see, actually most of it is brilliant, is there a "Super Beginners Page" any where that can be recommended.
I am working on a book, most of it is written on my Dell but I want to get started on my beautiful, gorgous machine and want to do it properly.

Hi and congrats on your first Mac!
If you look up at the top of the window with Safari open, you'll see the menu bar "Help".
There's a Help menu in all pre instaled OS X native apps.

If you aren't familiar with it, Moutain Lion is the most recent version of Mac OS X available (10.8.4)
That information can be found by clicking the Apple menu icon  top left corner on your Mac. From the drop down menu click About This Mac. The version is noted there. You can also click More Info for more infomation.
And depending on your location, you may be able to contact an Apple Macintosh User Group (MUG) for help > Apple - User Groups

I need a description of the guides in INdesign

I have my A5 document open, and have specified a 3mm bleed for printing. I have worked out that this bleed line is the reddish one on the extreme outside of the sheet, but the next one in confuses me.
It is the one that seems to be a purple/pink colour, and forms a rectangle.
I'm wondering a couple of things, here. Should I generally keep all my objects, rectangles, text etc within, but on, this line? Secondly, where I need pictures to bleed to the very edge of the paper when the printer cuts, do I place them right up to the bleed line?

Sounds like the margin guide.
In the illustration above you can see teh photo extendes to the bleed guide. Anything important needs to be inside the safety zone or there is a risk it will be trimmed off if the stock is misaligned in the cutter (that's why you extend out to the bleed guide, and the safety zone is the same distnace in from the edge of the page as the bleed guide is outside it).
Margin guides usually define the area for text, but that's really up to you. Guides are guides, which means you get to use them, or not, as you choose.

Need Detailed description of the differences between Adobe Flash Player Plugin and Shockwave Flash

For many years now I have been in a quandry over Adobe Flash (plugin) and Shockwave flash. The quandry is also somewhat exacerbated by the variety of subsetted versions supplied for each.
You know, it is sorta like the name and namespace dilemna provided by Adobe's continuing use of "Macromedia" when sometimes referring to, or distributing, their products... eg still creating Macromedia folders during installs.
I have been told that Shockwave Flash actually contains the Flash plugins. If that is the case should I be upgrading to a newer Shockwave Flash version if Adobe announces or (as recently occurred) denounces
a newer version of Adobe Flash.
Will you please provide me with details for, and distinctions between, these two products?

Need help with solving the (basic) programming error

I'm reaaaaaaaaaally new to Java and programming in general. I've been glancing through my older brother's old stuff (he's back at Uni!) and I've taken an interest.
Anyways, so I'm trying to finish this really simple program cause I wanna wow some friends ("wow" = "haha we've done this before a gazillion times") but I can't seem to solve this "incompatible lines" bug in the code, specifically line 24. I've been looking at it for exactly 4 hours!! Programming in Java 1.6.

Having said that, it is nontraditional to use Scanner like you are using it. There is no way to reuse it in order to get more input. Better would be something like:

Need help typing on the palm keyboard

for special characters. i want to do an & and thought i'd just have to push the shift key, but doing that just capitalizes the letter.

To get the ampersand (&) you would hold the option (silver) key, and then press the & key.

I just got a wireless keyboard for my iPad 4 and can't get the onscreen keyboard to stop showing as I type with the keyboard.

I have a just bought a bluetooth keyboard for my iPad 4 and it works fine. It connects with bluetooth and when I type the characters appear fine but the on screen keyboard will not go away. How do I get it to disappear while I am using my bluetooth keyboard.

Yes that was my next step but I removed the Swift key app I had installed with slightly different functionality than the Apple default screen keyboard. I figured I really didn't need that functionality since the Bluetooth keyboard offered far more flexibility. Sure enough the well designed default Apple keyboard seems to know it is not needed when an external keyboard is in use. Apple software just works better as always.

Populate text description in the open hub destination

Hi SDNers,
I have requirement with open hub destination, i am taking the cube data to SQL server database.
in that scenario i need text description in the cube ,but we can not see the text description data in the cube(because cube can hold dimension data and utmost navigational attributes data but no textual description).
Text data lies out side the cube but i need couples of text description for master data texts.
Do i need to write the code to populate(look-up) the text description from text table.
Can any one suggest an idea.

Yes, you may want to write a code on transformations from Cube to Open hub to go and get text from Text table of that Info object.
Make sure to create a new IO of lenght equal to Text field in IO and add this new IO in the Open hub and in transformations write a code at field like:
select single TXTSH from /BIC/Txxxxx into wa_text where
key_of_p_table = /bic/source_field
and langu = 'EN'
If sy-subrc = 0.
result = wa_text.
endif.

Hello. This seems like a bit of a ridiculous question, but I've searched high and low for a list of the basic keyboard functions for the new iMacs, leopard, with aluminum keyboard. Where's a list that explains what all the function keys do? I've found lists that explain all the shortcuts - that's not what I'm looking for.

And, you can open the Keyboard and Mouse preferences in System Preferences, click on the Shortcuts tab.

Apple mac g5 needs rebooting from cd but it doesnt recognize the wired keyboard so i cannot give the computer any commands

By rebooting do you mean reinstalling the Mac OS?
You may have to use another keyboard (preferably an Apple one) but also make sure the basics are correct, such as solid connection, not using a USB hub for the keyboard etc. Also plug the keyboard into the back of the G5 (not sure why this works but it does).

When i try to back up purchased items being apps etc its keeps asking for the old one. help

See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. But you'll still need the password.
Once you have the computer authorized to use the account she could change the password again to stop you buying apps on her card (assuming it's not on yours!). It would lock you out of upgrading them too but they should work unless she uses the deathorize all feature.

I need some help with some of the basic playlists please?!

Basically, I always enjoyed using the playlists 'recently added' and 'most played' that originally were on my ipod touch but suddenly they have gone off my ipod but have remained on my itunes! I have tried syncing my ipod many times but nothing has happened, I've also had a look at some of the settings with no sucess of solving the issue..
My technology information and skills base is relitively small so I'm really stuck - please can someone advice me on how to fix this? xx

My experience with WDs is that when they need to be "Master single" I use no jumper. That's in most Mac setups including the iMac G4s. Which drove me nutz until I figured that out. All other manufactures I've run into need a jumper across the first pair on the left as you look at it from the back. WD is the odd man out.
Also if you Google:
"western digital jumpers" the 2nd response you get is from OWC (macsales.com) and they're telling you to use the slave setting. Don't know about that I've always used no jumpers but I see a lot of hard drives so next time..

I have a requirement I need to count number of times the Basic finish date chaged for PM work order. I went throug our forums I got some info like using a standard function module
CHANGEDOCUMENT_READ_HDRS_ONLY
CHANGEDOCUMENT_READ_HEADERS
CHANGEDOCUMENT_READ_POSITIONS
But all the above function module will not be suitable for my requirement since CHANGEDOCUMENT_READ_HDRS_ONLY it gives whole changes but my requirement is just need number of changes occurred in Basic Finish date but CHANGEDOCUMENT_READ_POSITIONS can give the filed number which has been changed but still I need change id.
So kindly suggest me wether there is any other Standard FM to get number of changes occurred in Basic Finish date?

     To count the number of groups please try the folling steps:
1) Create a formula @reset and place this formula in the page header
    whileprintingrecords;
    numbervar i:=0;
2) Create another formula @evalgroup place this in the group header where you want to count the values.
    whileprintingrecords;
    numbervar i:= i+1;
3) Create another formula @display and place this in report footer.
    whileprintingrecords;
    numbervar i;
In order to display the count of details which are printing in the detail section place the eval formula in the detail section and the @display formula in the group footer.

It is peculiar, that Chrome, Safari, and Skype can access FB, but not the iPhoto uploader.
Do you see any error messages/ diagnostics in the Console Window, when you try to connect to Facebook?
Launch a Console window from Applications > Utilities and clear the Console Window. Then try to upload. Are there any new messages?
And also launch a Terminal and have a look, if "facebook.com" is properly resolved:

Well, if that's the case, you must have a different finish on yours than I have on mine. Either that or you are extrordinarily careful when using it. Mine literally scratches when using a microfibre cloth. I would really like to know whether yours is somehow different. It would really piss me of if some people got a good quality exterior that doesn't scratch and some of us got the opposite. Did you try holding your player under a light to see if there is anything. You may just be looking at it in bad lighting. I find it hard to believe, unless your unit has a different type of plastic cover, that it hasn't received any type of scratches. Can you take a picture of it's It probably seems as though I don't believe you. That's not the case. Its just that I was so careful not to scratch it last night and it got scratched anyway. I have read of similar experiences by others who have the Vision:M as well.
I wish I could return mine and get a different color, it really upsets me that a $300 item that is meant to be hand held and used heavily scratches this easily!! If anyone from creative is reading this, I would like to know what you plan to do about it! I didn't pay all of that money to have this player look like Sh*t when I am only using it the way it was intended and am being very careful at that!

Thanks for the speedy reply. I have read so many comments about Flash being incompatible with Lion I was wondering whether to download it or not. So many sites on the Web still require flash, however, you almost don't have a choice but to download it even if it is incompatible. I gather a better version of Flash will be available for Lion soon. Again, thanks for the help. I will download the latest version of Flash.
