I need a DVI-Video adapter or a MiniDisplayPort-Video adapter to capture analog sources in my Mac.

I need a DVI-Video adapter or a MiniDisplayPort-Video adapter to capture VCR and analog sources. Which is the right one for the Mac Pro (Early 2009 with NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 board)? Because i´ve seen a couple of cables but they say it´s just for Power Mac G5. I need exact model for my mac pro. I found this one but its´ just for Mac Pro with with ATI X1900 XT. The question is which one do I need for the NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 board? Is is the same one?

There was a similar post just the other day with what I think is the same confusion.  You said,
I need a DVI-Video adapter or a MiniDisplayPort-Video adapter to capture VCR and analog sources.
And the way I read that is you want video input (keyword you used was "capture").  Is that what you really want?  If so adapters you are looking at is for video output, i.e., to send video from your computer to a display device (e.g., a TV or monitor).  If you really want to video input (into your computer) then a simple cable isn't going to work.  You need a pci card that handles such functionality.

  • I need a DVI to RCA video adaptor that works!

I need to buy a DVI to RCA composite video adaptor for a Powerbook G4 15 inch.
I purchased one from the local Apple Store a few weeks back, and all I get from it is a non-synchronous/grey-squiggly image.
I have been told that the current new adaptor (Apple DVI to Video Adapter) only works with Macbooks with the Intel processor. Is that true?
Where can I get one that works???

    The specifications here:
    http://support.apple.com/specs/powerbook/PowerBookG4_15-inch_1_67-15GHz.html
Under Video accessories say that an "S-video to composite adapter" and "DVI to VGA adapter" were included if you bought it new. NTSC Composite Video is the one that uses the RCA jack, and will show up on a TV set or a VCR. It looks like someone at the Apple store was trying too hard. Ask for the 922-3421 (black) or 922-4200 (ice) described and pictured in this document:
33001- Monitor and Display Adapter Table
Note that the adapter pictured has a Female RCA jack, and you may need a male-to-male patch cord to complete the circuit to the TV or VCR.
If what you really want is 15-pin VGA, there are some other things to try, depending on what your display/record device is, and what its capabilities are.

  • Power Mac Mirror Door DVI or ADC to SINGLE RCA VIDEO OUT to a TV...adapter?

I have a Mirror Door G4 tower that I would like to use as a media center, with an old(er) Magnavox 19" television that only has the single yellow VIDEO IN jack, and the red and white audio L and R. Is there a converter cable that is similar to the one I used to use with my old G4 Powerbook which took the mini DVI and turned it into either composite video out? (I think it was Mini DVI, maybe ADC, whatever that little square video out on the Powerbook G4). I am prepared for low-res results, mostly just want to look at the itunes window and occasionally view utube clips or DVDs.
Also, does the G4 take the original Airport card (not the extreme), and if so does it need a separate antenna the way some G5s do?
And finally should I get good results with a Bluetooth dongle plugged into a USB port on the rear of the G4 when connecting a white Apple wireless keyboard?
Some of these answers will of course sort themselves out with experimentation, but any tips or experience in doing these things would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks, m.

I expect the weasel-words in Apple's description are there to be sure that whatever Video card you choose, the card does actually provide the signals needed. These are the VGA-equivalent signals around the Bar at one end of the connector. That gets you Red, Blue, Green+Luminosity, H-Sync and V-Sync. Those signals in combination are all that is needed to build S-Video or Yellow-RCA composite video On-the-Fly (not buffered).
The signals can be sliced and diced to get slightly different versions of Analog Video using adapters built around the SKART interface. There is a cheap one-chip wonder converter used in lots of converters, also loosely called SKART.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SKART
This does NOT do conversion to Digital Video, DVI, or HDMI when starting from VGA. That kind of converter has memory and scanning hardware that pushes the cost up higher than the price of an display card.

  • S-Video/Composite Video via VGA with 3rd Party Adapter

As mentioned elsewhere in these discussions, the Mini-DisplayPort on the Aluminum MacBook is different from the eartlier models. The Mini-DP adapters from Apple don't support S-Video or Composite Video, even in combination.
I ordered and just received my Grandtec PC to Video EZ adapter. It is a bit klugey, requiring a USB connect for power but it supports Apple Mini-DP to VGA output and generates both S-Video and Composite (yellow plug) video.
The good news is that it WORKS. A bit pricey - Apple VGA adapter was $29 and the PC to Video from Dobbs Electric was $39.99 + shipping. But, the alternative was unacceptable. It may not be HD but at least I can do my job in a variety of sites where most of the video devices are older.

    Dear Popster41,
I found myself in the same situation you were when you posted this. Could you tell me where you found the converter you mentioned?
    I appreciate your help,
    Erwin

  • Need to Pass filename for archived file to FTP adapter using SynchRead

    Hi
I am archiving the source file which i am reading using an FTP adapter, Operation- SynchRead.
In my case as the source filename is dynamic( abc_<timestamp>.xml) hence before the SynchRead, I am using a FTP List adapter to get the filename.
Currently, the archived file is getting name in pattern: encryptedToken_yyyymmdd_hhmmss.(e.g. wQ2c3w7Cj7Y6irWnRKqEu77_jD7kLtj6Uc0QCZIyjC4=_20121122_012453_0305)
I need to pass the sourceFilename(which i am getting from FTPList adapter) for the archived file also.
Thanks in advance for the help!
    Regards,

    Hi Neeraj,
While trying the above alternative, i am facing an issue when my source file is a .csv file. The file is getting recreated with the original filename and file content but without header.
As per the requirement i need the original file to be recreated. The header of .csv file has the field names.
Please let me know how should i configure my FTP adapter to read the header of the .csv file as well.
    Thanks,
    Achal

  • I need to get back individually erased photos and videos from my iMac with no backups to help. Please help

i need to get back individually erased photos and videos from my iMac with no backups to help. this is an attempt to consolidate all my data, new and old so I can uninstall Maverick and put Mountain Lion back on my iMac.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the files have been overwritten and you don't have a backup, they're gone.
If they have not been overwritten, then there are third-party apps (for example Techtool Pro 7 ) with data recovery functions that might be able to retrieve some or all of your files.
    Backing up is good.

  • MacMini, miniDisplayPort-VGA Adapter, iTunes(HD)-Video

    Hello,
I just bought a new MacMini (model last 2009)
I connected trough original Apple miniDisplayPort-VGA adapter to a FullHD-Display.
iTunes or Front-row tell me i must connect a HDCP capable Display
(via Analog VGA, that make no sense for me)
EDIT: it is only with HD-Movies bought in the iTunes store
with the old MacMini I dont had this problem (also with VGA connected)
is there a solution for that?
please help (sorry for my english)

HDCP is the Digital Rights Management/copy protection scheme for High Definition media content, and is sent over HDMI connections. Your VGA connection is not designed to carry this information, as it is just an analog signal. You will need to connect your mini via an HDMI adapter, and make sure all the adapters and cable connections are HDCP compliant.

  • No video support with iPad lightning-VGA adapter (iOS 8.3)

Just subscribed to HBO NOW and bought a lightning-to-VGA adapter ($55!) to watch HBO on my computer monitor (no HDMI, only VGA) from my iPad mini. Worked fine on iOS 8.2, but then when upgraded to 8.3 I could no longer get video support. Still have iOS 8.2 on my iPod Touch, and when that device is connected to my computer monitor, I can watch HBO (and Netflix). So obviously 8.3 no longer supports video with a lightning-to-VGA adapter. Is Apple aware of this? Will there be a fix soon?

I had the same problem with an iPad Air 1 once I upgraded to ios 8.3. Following several suggestions online, I did the following:
    1. Via iTunes Store app, I logged out.
    2. Settings, General, Reset (all the way at the bottom), Reset all Settings (this doesn't remove any data/apps/etc, it just resets all the iPad settings.
    3. Did a Hard Reboot (hold down power and main button until iPad shuts off).
Once I turned it back on, now I could use the iPad via lightning adapter to watch video on a TV.

  • Need instructions on how to download photos and videos from my Samsung cell to my iPhoto

Need instruction for how to import photos and videos from my Samsung cell phone to iPhoto.  Thx

Copy the files to the Mac and then drag them to the iPhoto window, or use the File -> Add to Library command
As for how to connect the phone and the Mac, for that you'll need to read the manual for the phone or seek support from a Samsung or Android (that's the operating system) site.

  • I need to send a video in quick time, by videoing on my iphone is it automatically in quicktime

i need to send a video in quick time, by videoing on my iphone is it automatically in quicktime

This means it was transferred from your computer via the iTunes sync process. No other way for the video to be where it is located unless it was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store direct with your iPhone.
If no longer available on your computer and not purchased from the iTunes store, there are 3rd party paid apps/utilities that provide for transferring this in the opposite direction.

  • Need Cables: DVI and audio

Where can I find some good quality cheap cables?
I have an LCD tv with DVI and VGA connection, I need a DVI to DVI cable for cleaner DVI output.
I would also like to have an audio out adaptor and cable that can split a signal for audio out cable to go into the televisiona and an audio out cable to RCA cables for audio output into the stereo.
    Thanks
    think I found some:
    http://www.national-tech.com

The only supported method is HDMI so there will be no guarantee with any converter. If it does work, you would need to make sure your TV is HDCP compliant in order to play protected content (ie iTunes, Netflix). Functionality can also cease at any time.

  • What do I need to enable me to put JVC Everio video onto the MacbookPro Snow Leopard bought November2009

    Hello to all,
I am still learning how to use this Macbook Pro and cannot understand why there is no app for
putting JVC Everio video onto my laptop in order to edit and make a disc of my films while on
holiday so that I can send the edited pieces to our daughter in New Zealand where we took them.
I have been into the Apple Store in San Fransisco this month and they could not help as the
laptop was then at home in the UK.
    Are there any apps?
Do I need to buy a reader I have been told by a salesman?
Should I update the Snow Leopard to Lion?
Should I consider any updrade to the Macbook Pro?
Do I need to consider going back to school at age 64 tomix with 5 year olds who seem to understand

Is there a site or disc which can take me through any possible remedy to my problems?
Any help will be appreciated especially from people who know what they are talking about.
    Thank you

MacBook Pro and Mac Pro are not the same machine.   The MacBook Pro is a notebook, and the Mac Pro is a desktop.   Regardless, the question you have pertains more to Quicktime or iMovie, as both those are video importing applications.     Do you wish me to ask a moderator to redirect your question to either forum?
    There are forums for each.
One application I found is great for importing non-Apple compatible video formats is http://www.etinysoft.com/total-video-converter-hd.html though you may need to get a Flash Card reader that supports your camera's flash card on a Mac to import the video.
