I need a guru!!!

I have Harmon/Kardon SoundSticks hooked up to my G5. iTunes and games, etc., etc., are using these to output sound, exactly as they should - I've chosen the SoundSticks for sound output in the main Preferences panel.
Mail, however, is using the computer's internal speaker - or nothing at all!
When I choose Mail sounds in the General Mail Preferences panel it ALSO uses the SoundSticks for sounds. But all Mail sounds are using the internal speaker (incoming mail notification, no mail, etc.).
What is the fix for this?!

i just got a brand butt spanking new iBook G4 14" 1.42 GHz
Tiger pre-installed.
I ran Software Update. As you can tell by my info, i'm at 10.4.2 now.
In a minute i'll tell ya how i got BACK to 10.4.2 from 10.4.5
When i got my iBook I didn't plug my external firewire drives in until (about 2 days) after my update. So when i did get around to building my iTunes library, well, no luck.
My firewire drives would and do NOT mount!
By the way these particular peripherals are Western Digital firewire

With a little exploration you'll find (at least i did) that they do not have firmware or driver updates for Mac. ( if you find them i'll give ya praise!)
The AcomData drive mounts with USB but not with firewire. The thing that
creeps me out is that my 3rd Gen firewire enabled iPod mounts right up no prob!
Another thing that ties me in knots is that these drives WILL MOUNT on my iBook12" running 10.3.9, as well as my old 5cH00L iMac DV 10.3.9!!!!
I thought it might be the Update so i did a clean install with the dvd provided by Apple and now i'm back to 10.4.2 but still no luck.
I've tried repairing permissions, starting, restarting, rebooting, plugging, unplugging, Updating, Downgrading, standing on my bloody head, looking all over the dotcom.
i swear i did all this with my peripherals unplugged.
i caught wind that though these companies may not provide updates for Mac, if i were to find out the companies that make the "chipsets?" within these drives that i might have luck.
i can't figure out what kind of "chipsets" (Oxford?) are in these drives or what to do if i knew anyway!

Here is some general troubleshooting advice that may help:
(1) Review the AppleCare Knowledge Base document "What to do if your computer won't recognize a FireWire device".
(2) If this problem occurred after installing a recent Mac OS X Update, and you are also unable to mount CDs, DVDs, or disk images perform the steps in this Mac OS X Hints article.
(3) The following additional steps will often help resolve problems with FireWire devices, particularly hard drives:(a) Power-on the FireWire drive before starting up (booting) your Mac.
(b) Reset PRAM and NVRAM.
(c) Reset the PMU or SMU: In the case of your iBook, I believe the article you want is "Resetting PowerBook and iBook Power Management Unit (PMU)." You can also check the manual that came with your new iBook.
(d) Try a different FireWire port. I need a Guru fast

I'm designing a very strange report using Crystal Reports XI. I created a picture of what the report would look like when it's finished, because this might be confusing without it, but I can't figure out how to attach it to this post. If someone can help me with that I would really appreciate it, or I can just email it to you. Each of the red numbers on the attachment corresponds to a different sub report (SR). Each of the SRs can vary in size substantially. Sometimes SR 1 only had 5 items listed, sometimes it has 100. So if I put SR 1 & SR 2 in the same section, SR 1 ends up over lapping SR 2 instead of pushing 2 down. I want SR 2 and SR 3 to come up right behind SR 1 but I want to make sure that if SR 1 needs more room it will push SR 2 & 3 down. Is there a way to do that? What I've ended up doing is putting SR 2 & 3 into another section and used the "Print at Bottom of Page" option in the Selection Expert. Then I used the "Overlay following sections" option on the preceding section, so they can be next to SRs 4 & 5. The problem with that is that it brings the top of SR 6 level with the top of SR 2 & 3 which means sometimes its overlapping SRs 4 & 5. How can I get SR 2, 3, & 6 to not only print at the bottom of the page but, align each of their bottoms with the bottom of the page? I don't know, maybe I am going about this completely wrong. I NEED A GURU...How do I add editable hyperlink in Adobe Reader?

Hi - I have a perplexing problem that I desperately need to find a solution to fast........
I have created an interactive PDF in LiveCycle that you can amend the text and image fields in the free Adobe Reader. My problem is that I need whoever uses the form to be able to alter one of the text fields and then attach a hyperlink on to the text.
It is the hyperlink part that I cannot find the answer to.
Is there a way of creating a field in LiveCycle that will allow someone to attach or edit a hyperlink? This step needs to be done in the Adobe Free Reader.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Need Flash Guru: How can I create a 2D Simple tag cloud in Flash/AS3

I have done some searches, but couldn't find anything on Simple 2D tag clouds like this.
I don't need to make it animated, i just need to create a simple tag cloud in Flash. Please help!!
I just need two rows with 16 words, no animation, but texts got to fire onclick event as button.
Please help

1. create a movieclip that contains a textfield. give the textfield an instance name (say tf) and assign the movieclip a class (say MC).
2. create a textformat instance.
3. create an array of your words.
4. loop through your array of words
a. creating a movieclip for each word,
b. assign the textformat a size (a random integer between your desired limits should work),
c. assign the word to the text property of the textfield and
d. assign the textformat to the textfield and autosize your textfield
e. add the movieclip to the display list
f. position the movieclip (after the previously positioned one)
g. add your event listener (possibly using another array).

Need a guru to advise me on MacBook Pro 17 screen replacement...

Can anyone tell me +with absolute certainty+ whether I can or cannot replace the broken 1680x1050 LCD screen in my 1st Gen. MacBook Pro 17 (2.16GHz) with the higher resolution 1900x1200 LCD screen? (My current understanding is that the graphics cards are the same among the various releases of the 17" MacBook Pro, but... Is that all I need to be concerned about?)

4-5 years old. And at a point in time when the sweet smell of new models is wafting thru the rumor halls? I would say no. Either get a new one with the latest technology, or get a great deal on an inventory sale item. And if the screen is the only abused component, you may get some cash back by parting out the rest.
If you must go ahead and resuscitate, consider around $200-$300 for a used screen of unknown quality.
Target Disk Mode is good for saving the goodies. Else, take the HDD out, mount it on an external enclosure.

Need FMS Guru! to Read substitution.xml from Server Side Apps

I know how to read XML file from HTTP using XML.load(url),
but there are some config node i need to read from substitution.xml
from conf folder. Seems like XML.load doesn't allow accessing

3\conf" - I am new in FMS Development, I dont know how to access

Nevertheless, finally I tryed the easiest way (pass the parameter with 'GET'). Moreover I found why my code wasn't working. It was a fool thing. I though PDA connect throught a proxy, but it wasn't true. Whatever.

J’ai mis l’ensemble des statuts pour chaque dossier.
Il faut mettre le statut « EXPEDIE » pour tous les dossiers ayant le statut « LIVRE ». Le transporteur a bien livré le produit mais il ne l’a pas remis. Par conséquent nous n’avons pas le statut « REMIS » ce qui me parait normal et nous n’avons plus le statut « EXPEDIE ».
Il faudrait peut-être revoir le contrôle dans l’annulation de livraison sur le statut ou alors ajouter un statut en plus envoyé par le transporteur après le statut « LIVRE » qui pourrait être « NON REMIS ».
J’aimerai aussi avoir une explication sur deux dossiers qui ont le statut « RECU » mis par un opérateur POR (exemple FX05944316, FX05988983), comment cela est-il possible ?

As-tu une piste pour améliorer cette situation (quitte à ce qu'ensuite je demande à la DS de la réaliser si nécessaire). On en reparle.

J’ai mis l’ensemble des statuts pour chaque dossier.
Il faut mettre le statut « EXPEDIE » pour tous les dossiers ayant le statut « LIVRE ». Le transporteur a bien livré le produit mais il ne l’a pas remis. Par conséquent nous n’avons pas le statut « REMIS » ce qui me parait normal et nous n’avons plus le statut « EXPEDIE ».
Il faudrait peut-être revoir le contrôle dans l’annulation de livraison sur le statut ou alors ajouter un statut en plus envoyé par le transporteur après le statut « LIVRE » qui pourrait être « NON REMIS ».
J’aimerai aussi avoir une explication sur deux dossiers qui ont le statut « RECU » mis par un opérateur POR (exemple FX05944316, FX05988983), comment cela est-il possible ?

Unable to print correct color. Ever. I need a guru.

I have tried embedding Adobe color profile. I have tried NOT embedding profile. I have tried printing from Photoshop using Color Sync. I have tried printing from Preview (using TIFF) and Adobe color controls rather than ColorSync. No matter what I seem to do, I cannot print the color temperature I see on the screen. Everything has a slightly marooned tint to it - away from yellow. It's not horrible, but it is also not acceptable.
I am on a Macbook Pro, OSX 10.7.5
Photoshop CS5 (extended) 12.1

There are three things in this chain that must be aligned for prints to come out as expected.
1. The image must be in a color space that the monitor can accurately represent
2. The monitor must be calibrated to represent that color space accurately
3. The printer must be able to represent that color space accurately.
Main issues with mis-matched color can be due to:
• using a color space that is not supported by your printer
• using a color space on your printer or output device that is different than the color space of your file/editing program
• having a monitor that is seriously out of calibration.
If you are interested in good quality prints, start with the monitor since that is how you are setting up the image.
There are a number of calibration devices/ software out there. I used a Spyder 2 Pro for a while and it helped. There are also others.

Who does the industry prefer to use as a 3rd party Adobe Media Player DRM video provider? A company or individual that has an expertise in video DRM using flash would be perfect. AFS ARUN substitution question

I need ARUN guru help.
I can not manager ARUN substitution while material shortage.
My example
1. There is not material 1 in stock. No future recive in the system.
2. A lot of material 2 in stock.
3. material 2 is set as substitution manerial for material 1
4. Sale manager insert material 1 in sale order and ATP confirm delyvery date as today + 30 (RLT=30).
5. ARUN is configured to select requirements from -300 to + 7 days from today. Only +7 days is set to avoid long stock lock. ARUN is configured to substitute material.
6. ARUN is ran in background and DO NOT SELECT MATERIAL 1 REQUIREMENT becouse confirmed delyvery date is today + 30.
7. I can not select requirements +30 days becouse of long lock period.
How could I make ARUN to select requirements with +30 confirmed delivery day and meke allocation only if substitution happends.

Hello Andrey,
You would need to maintain the window for 30 days else ARun will not select hte requirements.This is the only way.
Check for the field SUBRU in the x_bdbs table in the user exit before posting.If it is not empty, then it means substitution has taken place.Then in that case save the results else do not save.

We are planning to upgrade our current Exchange 2007 server with the new Exchange 2013 SP1. I have been following Exchange Server Deployment Assistant to assist me with this task. Only schema update (setup /PrepareSchema) had been done so
far. I didn’t run setup /PrepareAD command manually because I wasn’t sure if I need to provide ‘Organisation Name’ with it or not?! I have installed all of the prerequisites as noted in the Microsoft documentation.
Now, I am a bit confuse with the ‘Readiness Checks’ page during graphical user installation of Exchange 2013 SP1 setup on Windows 2012 R2. Windows 2012 R2 server has all available updates applied.

I get the message why setup wants to run preparation for the Ex2013 with the ‘Setup /PrepareAD’. But, why ‘No Exchange 2010 server role have been detected in this topology’?! Ok, in my case setup doesn’t detect Exchange 2007 server. Is that ok to proceed

I need Exchange guru advice here please. Since we already have Exchange 2007 SP3 RU 10 in our Windows 2008R2 Active Directory domain here I need to be 100% confident that pushing Exchange 2013 SP1 “Install” will not override our existing Ex2007 environment.

Why does DVD Pro degrade the quality of my QT movies

SUMMARY
I have only been using Final Cut Studio for a couple of months, but have achieved good quality QT files for burning in DVD Studio Pro. Up to the stage of Compressor, the quality looks good. But import the files into DVD Pro and the image becomes blurred.
If there is anyone out there who may be able to help I will willingly go into the depths of detail.

I am trying to create the best quality DVD I can achieve using the following mixed input media
1 avi Output from Camtasia Studio screen capture software which is captured "full screen" at 1024x640 by my client
(This could be output directly at 1024x576 by cropping before saving and can be QT mov format if necessary - however so far I have been converting to QTmov directly before editing the client files in FCP to add transitions not available in Camtasia Studio)
2 Quicktime movies created in Flash output at 1024x576 - these include digital images, Photoshop and Illustrator files
3 dv PAL footage captured 16:9 anamorphic
My workflow approach has been to edit in FCP, including sending to Soundtrack Pro Audio Project, then to export Using Compressor with the intention of importing the edited file into DVD Pro.
However the Preview in Compressor has shown disappointing resolution and I don't have the knowledge to choose the best settings. I have tried many combinations to the point that I have thoroughly confused myself.
At this stage I need a "guru" who can suggest the best settings throughout to achieve the optimum result.
In answer to your other question, the potential viewer is likely to be viewing on a PC using Windows Media Player or on a Mac using DVD player, BUT I also want the DVD to be playable on a set top DVD player.
I am viewing my production on my Mac monitor which as you can see above is high res.
