I need a repeater/bridge.

I need a repeater/bridge in my basement. I have an old wrt54gs v1.
I read about being able to do this with dd-wrt. I would like to avoid this option.
What linksys hardware options do I have? I'm willing to upgrade my router and buy multiple pieces of hardware.
I was thinking a range extender + bridge + switch could work.
But, what about having an access point or something less complicated?

If you want to save some money just buy this.
It will work with your old router and will increase its range, But if you don't mind spending some money you could just by a AP and set it to bridge mode.
You really have no need to buy a new router unless you want to.

  • Why won't my MN 5.5 see my 2 Repeater Bridge routers and there IP adresses on Map or Status?

    Hi all,
My network is up and running awesome !!   I have a home router/gateway with several wired and wireless clients and 2 routers  I have programed to Repeater bridges. All 3 units run DD-WRT. I have as my homeunit an E3000,  1 RP is a E2000 and the last RB is a WRT160nV3. The system is cool.
However,,,,,    MN 5.5 sees the units on the E3000, but does not see anything else. Status page the same....
Am I not setup right or perhaps MN is/was not ready for something like this?
PS       I have to connect 300 ft to the 160n and about 150 to the E2000.  This is why I needed to setup my this way.
Thank you in advance for any reply.  Perhaps there might just be a newer version that I do not have to make this work.
    Jeff

In order to get the spriteNum sent to the frameScript, try altering your mouseUp handler to:
    on mouseUp me
--  tell the frame script that this sprite was clicked
      sendAllSprites(,#dialogEngine, me.spriteNum)
      put "dialog behavior executed"
    end
Your other problem/s I suspect are related to the tight repeat loops you involve in the #countTime and #loop handlers (I would suggest renaming your 'loop' hander to something that isn't a Director keyword). Altering your code to avoid these loops won't prove easy but is something you should try in a limited fashion to see if it helps.
Also, the updateStage() command is broken on the Mac platform - I forget details (whether only SW or projectors too) and this isn't documented in a TN anywhere either.

  • E3000 repeater bridge or client bridge...

    Hi,
Who knows the best version (DD-WRT or other) to repeat the wireless signal with a E3000?
At worst, a client bridge mode could be sufficient for my needs...
    Thanks,

I believe there is only one version for the e3000. What I mean is that there aren't multiple kinds (mini,VPN,etc). I think setting it to repeater bridge mode would get the job done: http://dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Repeater_Bridge I would just follow the wiki. I'm pretty sure the version that they use has support for repeater bridge mode. Here's the link if you don't already have it. http://dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_E3000 I just googled all this stuff so I can't really help you out any further. Universal wireless repeater mode sounds good too. Here's the main article http://dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linking_Routers
I don't work for Cisco. I'm just here to help.

  • I just bought an Ipad and find that it is not compatible with Adobe flash player which I need to play Bridge on line on BBO.  Is there a solution for this problem?

I just bought an I pad abd find that it is compatible with Adobe Flash Player which I need to play bridge on BBO.  Is there a solution to this problem?

No Flash for iPads, iPhones, or iPods
Here's why there's is no Flash available for iDevices or other mobile devices. Adobe was unable to provide a product that was suitable to the needs of battery powered mobile devices used for Internet browsing. Existing Flash technology used too much memory, ate battery life, and was buggy. Simply put Flash did not work well on mobile devices.
Apple's Steve Jobs led the escape from Flash dependency when Apple introduced the iPhone, and later introduced the iPad. There was a hue and cry over the omission. Time proved Jobs was right on target.
So this is why there is no Flash for your iPhone or iPad or iPod nor for most SmartPhones. Flash has been abandoned by many sites in favor of supported technologies such as HTML5 or by providing their own custom app.
Here is Steve Jobs official comment on his momentous decision to omit Flash from iDevices: Steve Jobs on Flash.
Here is Adobe's later announcement to cease development of Flash for mobile devices: Adobe on Mobile Flash.
Now, you are not necessarily out on a limb. There are some apps that can display some Flash, but don't count on there ability to display anything using Flash.
Apps that can display some Flash from the Web:
    Puffin
    SkyFire
    Photon Flash
    Browse2Go
    iSwifter
Also, note that many sites that use Flash provide their own app for accessing their material. So check with your favorite sites and find out if "there's an app for that."

  • Need a Repeater for stronger wifi connection

    Hi,
I'm new to wireless issues so please bare with me.
I have a MBP with snow leopard installed.  I have a boat docked at a marina that has free wifi.  If I am at the marina office, the signal strength is fine.  When I am on my boat (distance from outdoor wifi antenna to my boat is approx 100 feet) the signal is very and drops very often.  I was told that I need a repeater that will extend the signal strength.  When I went to the Apple store I was told that I could use Apple airport express, but that it only acted as a repeater if using other airport express or airport extreme base stations.  The marina uses a netgear R0318 router.  So then I was told that I need a repeater that is compatible with the netgear router and my Mac.  I saw this repeater:
    http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0355694
Would this do the trick?  Is there a better option?  I'd like to use the airport express, but it doesn't seem to work.  I also have an ipod touch and a wireless printer (Lexmart) that I would want to be able to have on the network.
    Any help is apprecisted.
    Thanks,

    Bob,
I suppose there is a remote possibilty that a user who is reading the Apple forums may have used the product that you ask about, but it's also more likely that you won't receive an answer, so you may want to post on the other company's website if they have one
The bottom line is this with any repeating type of device.....you won't know until you try. For that reason, it's a good idea to understand the store's return policy in case things don't work as hoped.
Even if the AirPort Express were compatible with the Netgear device, the correct location for a repeating device is about 1/2 the distance from the main router to the area that needs more coverage. A repeater or extender can only "repeat" what it receives. If you locate the device at your boat, it will receive little to no signal to repeat.
So, if you find a device (Netgear would be first place I would look to insure compatibility), you'lll need to think about how to locate it correctly.

  • I'm trying to download CS6 I keep getting a window that says I need to close Bridge. Bridge not open

I cannot download CS6 because I keep getting a window popping up saying I need to close Bridge. Bridge is already closed. How do I get around this? Do I need to remove bridge altogether from my computer?
    Thanks for the help.

    Hi Jeni.lyn,
Open task manager/Go to processes and look for Bridge.exe and End task: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows7/open-task-manager .

  • Why do the thumbnails in a clip need to repeat themselves in the timeline?

I'm confused about something.  When I drop a clip into the timeline, if I want the video and audio to show then the thumbnail for the clip basically repeats itself for the length of the clip in the timeline.  In FCP 7 when a clip is dropped in the timeline there is one thumbnail on the left and then just the length of the clip.
It is very hard to see clip separation in the timeline if it's a constanst stream of thumbnails - anyway to turn this off???

Tom, you seem a little negative - just an observation from someone who is knew to this board.  I'm just trying to get an understanding of a new application.  I of course, am only working from my knowledge of FCP 7.  I've worked in FCP since 2002 so I'm very aware of FCP 7.  I'm not trying to make FCP X into 7 but I am wondering how some of the SIMPLE things that were able to be achieved in FCP 7 seem so complex (and maybe not even possible) in FCP X...
The thumbnails don't NEED to repeat themselves, it's silly.  I've played with the settings at the lightswitch and none of them controls the amount of thumbnails that are displayed.  Having all those thumbnails makes it VERY hard to see clip separation.  If you call that trying to fit FCP X into FCP 7 then so be it, but it seems pretty logical to me to ask for this option...
Hope you're having a lovely day!

  • If I have Bridge with PS CS6 do i need to install Bridge CC when I install PSCC?

If I have Bridge with PS CS6 do i need to install Bridge CC when I install PSCC? Will the Bridge CS6 function with PS CC?

CC will come with its own version of Bridge.  Of course you should install it.

  • WAP4410N - Understanding roaming, WDS, repeater, bridge

Router: Cisco WRVS4400N secured with WPA2
    WAP: Cisco WAP4410N
Router was working well but signal too weak in distant rooms.
So, purchased a WAP4410N but am unsure about AP configuration. From reading the docs, I understand these to be the relevant choices:
    1) Access Point -- Wired connection through built-in Ethernet port. (Not Desired)
    2) Wireless WDS Repeater
    3) Wireless Client / Repeater (What is difference from WDS Repeater?)
    4) Wireless WDS Bridge
    Desired Result:
Simply extend the network. As a laptop is carried from room to room, laptop should switch to the strongest signal seamlessly, without user doing anything manually. No matter where I am, laptop should see entire network. Also, I prefer that the WAP not require a wired Ethernet connection (that is, I would like the WAP to receive/repeat the router's wireless signal No Ethernet Cable Required).
    1. Which of the above 4 settings is best for achieving desired outcome?
    2. What should the SSID be on the WAP? Same as on the router?
    3. Should both the router and WAP be on the same channel? (I suspect not, but included docs sound like they should be..?)
    4. Should both the router and the WAP have the same wireless security setting (WPA2) and passphrase?
    5. On the router, under the Wireless menu --> WDS submenu there is a checkbox: "Allow wireless signal to be repeated by a repeater".  I assume this must be checked?
    6. I understand that Microsoft's built-in Wireless Zero Configuration service does not disambiguate APs which share the same SSID and may not always roam with the strongest signal.*** We need to move from area to area and seamlessly retain the network signal. Is this still a problem in Windows7? Is there a workaround for XP's WZC deficiencies?
Is there anything else I should know?
    *** http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/tutorials/article.php/3628576

    Hello bcmitsupport,
I am glad to hear you got it working. I did notice though that you said the WAP4410N was wired. If the repeater is working correctly you should not have to have it wired.
If you do have the option of using a wired connection then I would recommend the following-
    AP mode is AP
    Same SSID
    Same Security
Different wireless channel (1, 6, 11 are the non overlap channels)
This provides the strongest signal and speed between both wireless points.
If you are interested in trying the repeater mode still I recommend the following-
    AP mode is WDS repeater
    Same SSID
    Same Security
    Same wireless channel
On the router enable 'allow this signal to be repeated'
Make sure you are using both wireless MAC addresses for the wireless *NOTE: the MAC listed on the router is not always the wireless MAC. this can be found in the wireless section of both devices.
Here is the key part, if you are using both as a repeater and the AP is wired, you will know it is working when your network goes down. This is because the AP is repeating the signal back to the router over the wire and getting it repeated back out over the wireless until the network goes down.
To further answer your orginal question-
WDS mode provides a better connection as both devices are 'aware' of each other and is more of a switched connection. When using client/repeater, the AP is actually acting like a client to the orginal signal and simply relaying messages across as if it was from the AP.
WDS bridge is simply a way to configure a wireless bridge. A bridge is not designed for clients to connect wirelessly but to create a 'wireless cable' so you can connect your wired computer wirelessly.
Ultimately the best connection is a wired one as it does not diminish the signal. A repeater has half the range and half the speed as it has to repeat both in and out.

  • 1310 as a repeater bridge

    folks,
    have a requirement like so:
    root bridge -> repeater <-> non-root
all these devices are 1310. i'm getting conflicting info about being able to configure the 1310 as a repeater. one on hand, i see the cli guide saying i can say 'station-role repeater' & another about access point repeater & i've seen some docs stating that both can communicate to root/nonroot bridges.
now the question is - firstly, is this possible? if so, does the non-root associate with the repeater or the root, and does the repeater associate only with the root [if at all?].
i'd like any insight into this. thanks, as always,
    anurag

I don't think this would work. A non-root needs to talk to a root. Plus the bigger problem maybe how one radio points in two different directions. Remember only one antenna works at a time. I would recommend putting a 1242 in the middle and utilize both radio's (g/a). But then you would need another 1242 on one end to talk 802.11a, or a 1400, or another 1242.
    1300 - 1242 - 1242.

  • Need help installing Bridge CS4 gallery in DW CS4

I've spent days trying to find out how to put a gallery I created in Bridge CS4 into Dreamweaver CS4. Bridge created a folder filled with a lot of files, including image files and an index.html file. How do I insert these into my DW page? I'm fairly new to Dreamweaver and need the specific steps laid out for me. Thanks.

    Greetings,
Copy the entire folder to your web root in the Dreamweaver CS4 and create a HTML page from your template, name it "gallery" then open the Dreamweaver CS4 if not already opened, click to open the files of your website at the right hand Corner of the Dreamweaver CS4 page or windows > files to open it; search for the folder of the gallery open it and copy the .swf player file to the space you have created on the gallery page save the page then press F12 on your keyboard or file > preview in browser and choose your browser to view your gallery. You could resize it after all that. It worked for me on my new web design. Good luck.

  • Need to reinstall Bridge CS 3 2.1.1.9

I have a disastrous installation of Mavericks and am preparing to revert back to Snow Leopard.  I have registered three versions of PhotoShop Elements, but am currently running PE 11.  I greatly prefer Bridge for working with images and don't like Organizer at all for my particular purposes.  What I need to know is how to go about reinstalling PE 11 AND, very importantly, Bridge?  I've spent a great deal of time trying to find answers on Adobe's site with no luck.  These are the ONLY two non-Apple programs I use and do not want to be without them. Please don't try to talk me out of the reversion; I've spent hundreds of dollars and three weeks of time trying to solve Mavericks-caused issues.
    Advice will be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    CaptainEasy

I think the only way you get get bridge cs3 back is to reinstall photoshop elements 6.
You should install the oldest version of photoshop elements first and install the newest version last.
You can get some of the pse versions including pse 11 from here, but not pse 6.

There is also a photoshop elements forum

  • Need Photoshop and Bridge: does Creative Cloud for students/teachers include both?[was: I'm confused, need help]

I'm a photography student about to start University. And I need Adobe Bridge and Photoshop for me to edit my photographs. The cheapest Creative Cloud for students/teachers is £8.78 a month, does this include both Bridge and Photoshop? If not does that mean i'll have to buy the Complete Creative Cloud for £15.88 a month?

Bridge is included with Photoshop.  The package you are asking about also includes Lightroom, I believe.

  • I need a wifi bridge that is Ethernet and plug and play.

I am looking for a wireless bridge that I can install to an existing network through an Ethernet Jack. I do not have admin password so making any changes to the network is out of the question. The network does allow an Internet connection as I have used both my laptop and my ps3 with no issues.
What I need is a cheap portable bridge to get me 3 feet of wifi coverage and will plug and play. Would be nice to be able to have security on it but again with out access to the admin functions this might not be possible. I know some systems have a bind style security like aoss I think it is called. I have posted a link to bridges and would greatly appreciate any input on the subject.
I think the connection provider is comcast if it matters. Thank you to anyone that responds.

First a little background for those worried about security I have talked to the IT guys about the set up here. The people who installed the camera computers and the office computers did not physically connect the two networks. Hilarious, they also used free software to set up the camera computers and are running it on windows xp again I laugh as not a very reliable set up. Next apparently this network has Internet access but they are running no virus protection at all. The four computers running 16 cameras are not even sharing a single database each computer stores 4 cameras worth of slideshow style jpegs and if you want data from the other cameras it gathers it from the other computer and imports it not the most elegant solution. As for security issues I am a concierge at a condo, the data that a hacker would get access to is useless just jpegs of cameras doing what they do which is recording old people mostly. No access to the office network is probably why they really do not care about this network and the only reason it even has internet access is for off site IT guys to log in and troubleshoot any problems which they rarely do as the system seems very problematic since day one. I have been asked on many occasions to troubleshoot problems here and I am a trusted employee as for legal problems yeah right it is a condo they go after themselves like wolverines but as for employees they just hope they do not get sued for anything as it seems they just roll over and settle.
All of that being said the issue is the wireless in the lobby belongs to the residents and it is a finite source which they pay for out of maintenance fees so I want to get off of that network. My sling box set up is probably hogging some speed I would imagine, not to mention airplay and orb. I read that lots of these bridges have web based set up that is only needed the first time you set it up after that it is plug and play. So I use my laptop to set up security on the bridge and away we go.
Thanks guys for your input. It was helpful.
