I need a scrubber to remove printer port conflicts.

Trying to install a color Okidata printer.  I'm told by Oki tech support that I need a scrubber from HP to clear ports and then install okidata driver first, before any HP drivers.  Where do I get this scrubber.  I used to have an HP 1200.  Using Windows 7 on an HP Pavilion desktop.

Hi,
I can only find HP P2055dn:

  • Wireless Print Server (DPR-1260) - Manually Configure Printer Port

I am trying to get my DPR-1260 Wireless Print Server (PS) installed, and need help with manually configuring the printer port (per Dlink).
    Status:
    A) Before trying to install the PS, I was able to easily install (2) USB printers, see them, and print to them.
    B) My new IMAC is hardwired to the router.
    *Recent Actions:*
    1) I've worked with Dlink and have verified that my network (my new IMAC, and my wife's wireless laptop (OS 10.39) see the PS (hooked directly to the router). It's IP address is 192.168.0.102 .
    2) I hooked both printers to the PS, and the address sees both printers as installed, and provide with LPR information (both printers are now hooked to the PS). Dlink does not guarantee printer compatibility, but says that since the site sees the printers, gives me LPRs, that the probability is good that they will be compatiable.
    3) My new IMAC sees this address in both OS and in XP (thru VM Fusion). My laptop (10.3x) also sees this address. However, I'm not able to install this printer.
    4) Per Dlink, I need to manually configure the printer port to install the PS.
    5) Dlink kept sending me to the Print Utility, but from what I see, that does not exist in 10.5.
How do I manually configure the printer port to see the PS?
Now, I am stuck, and help?
    Many thanks

As DLink have said, you will have to manually configure a LPR queue to connect to your printers. The print utility in 10.5 is the Print & Fax util in System Preferences. Open this and choose to Add . Select IP and then LPR. Enter the ip address of the PS. Then you will need a queue name for the respective USB ports, such as P1 and P2, or something similar. Hopefully the DLink info mentions this so that you can print to the desired printer.
The final bit of info you will need to know is whether the printer driver for each printer will work in this type of network. If either of them is a Canon then there is a good chance you will not be able to use supplied drivers. These types of connections require a third party driver, like Gutenprint, which is usually installed by default. If you are not sure, then please tell us which brands and models of printer you have.

  • How do I remove USB virtual printer port

Im having some problems printing (see different thread) so I have removed all reference to the printers and drivers (nothing in devices and printers; nothing in print management), Ive removed all USB devices (except the mouse) switched off and removed the
battery for 60 minutes. The restarted.
    Still 3 USB ports
    Ive tried
http://www.ehow.com/how_6688235_delete-usb-virtual-printer-port.html  but I cant see the virtual USB ports in device manager
http://www.ehow.com/how_6910965_delete-usb-printer-port.html  But I cant (unsurprisingly) find the ports in installed programs
http://www.ehow.com/how_5869559_remove-usb-printer-port.htmll  (delete form devices and printers) But when I highlight the port from printer properties and click delete I get "selected port cannot be deleted. The request is not supported
Makes me think these are not properly installed ports.
Ive searched the registry for USB001 and there are 4 USB00? entries all under unknown printer with headings like 6&30e6e7fe&0&USB003. So I tried to deleted all of them. It lest me delete the parameter sub key but I am not allowed to delete the other
    keys (error while deleting key)
So after a bit of a search I came up with psexec (see link for more details and do take backups and read the instructions)
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/56fed319-a532-46a4-a384-fd795998c4a3/regedit-permissions-access-denied-or-error-while-deleting-key-even-as-admin?forum=w7itproinstall
And that allowed me to get rid of the ports from the registry but they were still visible in Devices adn printers under ports (after slecting a device)
So how do I get rid of these wretched ports?
    TFAI

    Hi,
Yes, you could create a new port for other printer. Of course, you also assign it to a different print if you don't use this printer.
    The detailed steps are below:
    1. Click the START button, click navigate to "Control Panel", then navigate to and click on "Printers."
    2. Once the printers window is open, click on "Add a printer" in the dark blue menu bar.
    3. At the "Choose a printer port" section click on the "Create a new port" radio button then select "Standard TCP/IP Port" for the "Type of port."
    4. At the "Type a printer hostname or IP Address" section select "TCP/IP Device" for "Device type" and input the proper hostname depending on the printer that you are installing, the IPs for all of the different departmental printers can be gotten from the
main printer help page on this website.
    5. At the "Type a printer name" section type in what you would like to call the printer under the "Printer name" section, this is entirely up to you. Here you also want to make sure that the driver that it says it will install corresponds with the model
    of printer you are installing.
    6. After the installation you should get a section called "You've successfully added [printername]." Here you should click the "Print a test page" button to make sure everything is installed correctly.

  • Pro upgrade removes PDF printer port

I recently purchased and installed AA8 Pro upgrade from AA8 Std. During the installation, it required automatically uninstalling AA8 Std before continuing and, during it's AA8 Pro install, gave an error about creating the PDF printer port. After the install completed, the PDF printer is there, but the port is set to LPT1:. As a result, every time I create a PDF from within Word or such, I get a "document failed to print" message from the printer queue. I have to open the queue and delete the jobs. However, the PDF file does get created and opens in acrobat? Does anyone know how to re-create the Documents/*.PDF port and associate it back with the printer to eliminate the issue?

  • How Do I Redirect LPT1 Printer Port to 'LOCAL Printer' in Windows 7

I have previously redirected LPT1 Port to a 'Network Printer' as well as 'Print Server' with NO PROBLEMS.
However, I have NOT been able to redirect LPT1 Port to a 'LOCAL' PRINTER. I have already set up:
     - new HP Laser Printer (tested, no problem printing in Windows)
     - the printer is SHARED, shared name is "HPLaser" (tested by viewing Shared Printer Name and Computer Name in DOS)
     - bat file as --> Net
    use Lpt1 \\DkTop1\HPLaser /persistent:yes
(I checked to ensure the 'Computer
    Name' and the 'Shared
Printer Name' are correct. Tested by running bat command, no
    error message)
When printing in DOS and viewing "What's Printing" from Printer Icon,
     - the DOS print job appears immediately as "spooling",
     - then "printing" and "USB001" Port.
So, it appears to be printing from the DOS application, also
note NO ERRORS from DOS Program or Windows but it does NOT print.
The only difference between the 'Local Printer' setup and
the 'Print Server Printer' setup is,
     the 'PRINT SERVER'
goes to an "IP Address w/Standard TCP/IP Port"
    and the 'LOCAL PRINTER'
    goes to "USB001 Virtual Printer for . . .".
    IS THERE A PROBLEM in
    SETTING UP THE 'LOCAL PRINTER'
    with 'USB001 VIRTUAL PRINTER' Port???
If so, how do I resolve? If not, please note what is the problem(s) and resolution(s). Thanks.

    Hi,
you install the new printer, which port you choose to use? What do you mean by saying "'USB001 VIRTUAL PRINTER' Port"
    here?
As the printer is configured locally, there is no need to redirect the port to it.
    Install a printer
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-hk/windows/install-printer#install-printer=windows-7
    Here for more information:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-hk/windows-vista/add-or-remove-a-printer
If possible please take a try to delete the printers holding the Lpt1 port, then reconfigure the local printer following the instructions provided above.
    Hope this may help

  • How to delete unwanted TCP/IP Printer Ports

Windows 7 64bit; I have created, in error, one TCP/IP Printer Port which I would like to delete to keep the Ports clean of rubish, but I am unable to find how to do so.
    Can anyone help?
    Nevio

You get the 'port is in use' error message if the port is currently assigned to a printer. It has nothing to do with print spooler - it's just that you can't delete a port that is already assigned to a printer.
    1. When you open properties and go to the 'Ports' tab, you have your printers listed with headings - Port, Description, Printer.
    2. Identify the printer using the port that you want to delete, exit out of printer properties window and delete the printer.
    3. Right Click on any of the remaining listed printers and select 'Properties' (if there is none left then you craft create a fake printer).
    4. Click the Ports tab.
    5. Select the port and click “Delete port".
    6. Check any available port and exit out of 'properties' window.
The above will work in many cases but unfortunately not all. You may well find one of a couple of problems. One symptom is that having removed printer(s) and exited from "Devices and Printers" - if you re-enter "Devices
and Printers"  the printers have returned. Another symptom is that  Windows will not let you delete the port as described above.
There are three things I have encountered which can need fixing. One is that there are print jobs queued on the printer. If this job can be cancelled that fixes that, otherwise stop and re-start
the print spooler. the third is the "in use" message mentioned below.
The second situation is that a program - in my case foxit reader - is somehow associated with the printer you are trying to remove when you look through the full list of Ports. I had to un-install
Foxit and only re-install it after the printer situation was resolved.
Thirdly you may have to go into "Programs and Features" and un-install the software associated with the printer.

  • Changing Network Printer Port IPs

    Thanks fo rthe reply...
Im not wanting to change the IP address of the printers ON the printers via script, I'm trying to change the IPs of the printers ON the computers.  All the printing is currently done via direct IP print to the printers so when I change the printer's IP i would have to change EVERY computer's printer configuration....I'm trying to avoid touching every computer.

    Spicers...
I've seen a lot of posts on removal of printers via script that are deployed via script/GPO but my environment is a little different.
I'm in the process of re-IPing the network due to growth and implementing multiple subnet/VLANs.
What I need to do is to change the printer Port IPs because the printers will be moved to a different subnet.  Is there a way to automate that via script so I don't have to touch each computer?  And the printers are not currently deployed via GPO they are manually created.
My ideal solution would be to just go through and remove them via script and deploy them via script...thoughts?

  • TCP/IP Printer ports - HELP PLEASE

I have a large inkjet printer that I print my graphic design to... for years it has been set up and printing just fine through an Actiontec M1424-WR-rev.D router. No setting were ever changed in the router, it just worked great right out of the box (the Verizon guys installed it). I had a small router with the cable company, but when I got the new router from Verozon the install guy said i didn't need it any more, and moved the ethernet plugs over to the new router. Everything worked fine for years... until the wireless functions started to fail (I don't use the wireless for the office, just the family), so, Verizon told me I had to replace it with a new M1242WR - rev. I router. I transfered all the cables over the the new router in exactly the same positions the were in on the old router. Now my printing software (RIP software) can't see the printer when it's routed through the FiOS router, but If I move the ethernet cable from the router and plug it into the back of my computer, which disconnects my computer from the network and gives me a dedicated ethernet connection to the printer... everything works fine. It's just when I try and run it through the router that my computer and printer can't talk to each other.
My RIP software that drives the printer demands a STATIC IP address set up in a TCP/IP printing port, and the printer is set up with the corresponding static IP address (this is unavoidable). Images of the setup screens below...
The RIP software setup is here... very simple:
Now, on the actual printer, the IP address matches (192.168.0.110), the subnet masks are 255.255.255.0, and the default gateway is set at 192-168.0.1.
This is all the info I have, and all I know is that it worked fine with no setup on the old router, and does NOT work on the new router... it used to be plug-n-play, now it's plug-n-stop.
Again, when the ethernet cable run directly from the computer it drives the printer just fine, connected to the router first and it failes completely.... HELP!!!!!!!!!!
Like I said... this has worked great for years, I haven't changed a thing on the printer or computer... the only change is the new router... I'm out of production until I figure this out (
    Cabe...

The revision I router out of the box uses the following default IP addresses
    192.168.1.x IP Address
    255.255.255.0 Subnet
    192.168.1.1 Default gateway
I notice you aren't using that IP Address scheme at all in the screen shots.  Did you change the Verizon router internal settings to use the 0.1 ip scheme?

When we make a phone call through a PABX machine, the PABX machine print the call's detail if it is connect to printer. Let us assume, the PABX machine is connected via the printer cable with a PC at it's printer port. Now, the data sending by the PABX machine is reaching to PC's printer port, I would like to collect those data and store in a file(of any format) using Developer 6i. Is that possible? If yes, then how? Do I need to use any ActiveX control? Or is there any other way?
Please Help me out. Thanks in advance.

    Dear Friends
I also need a solution to this problem. But it may require sequance / format of information being sent by weigh bridge to the COM port. Normally the W/b company has their own format of information. We might have to change the COMP port speed also .e.g 9600 BPS, 2400 BPS etc.

  • Printer port #???

I have a wireless laptop and I am not able to print from it. After 4-5 hours online with microsoft , we found that when mcafee was disabled i was able to print from my wireless laptop. So, they advised me to contact mcafee to "reconfigure"  to allow printing from the laptop. I spent 2 more hours online with mcafee, followed all their instructions but it still did not resolve the issue. Finally, the last rep from mcafee said I needed to contact HP for the "port #" for the printers (I have a Laserjet 1012 and a Deskjet 5740.) Can someone please tell me where to find these port numbers ????? I tried to get through to HP and the computer response says there is no support for my product any longer. I just need to figure out these port #'s in order to adjust the firewall settings in Mcafee.
This has been extremely frustrating-- can someone please help me out??

McAfee? Oh you're in luck! HP has made a document to configure McAfee to allow all ports and programs for printers. Refer THIS document.

Why don't match the values of printer ports, obtained through WMI in different ways?

    $Printers = Get-WmiObject Win32_Printer -namespace "root\CIMV2" -ComputerName $ComputerName
Further, for example, on the same computer $Ports.Name returns me: (10.0.66.204 10.0.66.210 10.0.66.246 10.0.66.247)

In the end I need to get a binding the printer - the value (not the name) of the port. In Win32_Printer there is no such parameter, and there is no information about the printer in Win32_TcpIpPrinterPort. I wanted to connect them through port name but they
    don't match.

    Very unclear.
Win32_Printer returns the bound port name.
    Get-WmiObject win32_tcpipprinterport -filter "Name='192.168.1.100_2'"

  • Can't set up printer - port doesn't show an Appletalk tab

I installed 10.2.8 recently. I was unable to set up my printer (LaserWriter Pro 600) because there was no Appletalk tab in the System Preferences > Network > printer port tab (message received was that Appletalk hadn't been started). In fact, the tab arrangement was identical to the modem port. I noticed earlier that when starting Internet Connect, the default port was the Printer port (very annoying); I'd guess there's a connection between these conditions.
Does anyone know why this is occuring and how to fix/get around it?
    Thank you in advance.

    Beige G3 desktop   Mac OS X (10.2.x)

I don't have 10.2 here in front of me, but I'm pretty sure of this:
Starting in either 10.1 or 10.2, appletalk is not available on the localtalk-capable printer or modem ports of G3 computers. Appletalk is only available on TCP/IP-capable connections (ethernet and PPP-modem).
You need to get the Pro 600 onto ethernet (an ethernet to localtalk bridge, for example)
