I need a secondary Hard Drive cable

I have a DV7-T6b00 CTO Quad Edition lap top and want to add a second hard drive to it. I am having trouble finding it. I downloaded the maintenance manual for it and the part number I found was 665597-001. How can I find this number and get it ordered?

You can try to check for the right part number from the HP part store by entering your product number/serial number. You will know the part number required and you can buy it from HP.
Alternatively you can check some third party sites to find the HDD bracket and cable. I do not vouch for any thrid party sites, but to give you an example you can look here:

Although I am an HP Employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

I need to add a secondary hard drive to my time capsule. Can something that has been set up for a windows machine work without re-formatting?

In addition to Niel's comments, if you plan to use Time Machine to backup a Mac to the secondary drive.....that application needs a drive that has been specifically formattted for Mac.  That would be Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
PCs can also read and write to the Mac formatted drive.

I can't move photos from iPhoto to my secondary hard drive or to a burn folder.  I have never had a problem with this before.  This is something new.   They will not drop into either folder.  Nothing happens.
I checked my secondary harddrive and there is plenty of memory.
I emptied my burn folder but the photos still will not drop into it.
I created a new burn folder, no luck with this either.
230 photos is the maximum size of the events I am trying to move from iPhoto to save elsewhere.
I have shut down and restarted my computer.   No change. The photos still will not drop out of iPhoto.
My Mac Computer Storage shows that I have 62.2GB free out of 249.2GB (movies, photos and contacts taking up the most space)
My Lacie External Harddrive (2TB capacity) shows that I have 1.79TB available.  It shows that 207,729,520,640 bytes (207.73 GB on disk) are used.
I have never had this problem before.  It is usually very easy to move my photos from iPhoto.
I am not a computer expert (I work in surgery so don't have a need for lots of computer knowledge) so please explain in simple terms.
Thank you so much for any help you can provide.
    I really appreciate it.

YES Terence!  Thank you. Exporting allowed me to move my photos from iPhoto into the Burn Folder on my desktop.   But that doesn't explain why I'm having to go that route now.   Have I done something (accidentally changed some setting) on my computer that will not allow me to just click and drag anymore?   I really liked the convenience of the click and drag option.
I don't have the time tonight to export and burn a lot of CD/DVDs.  I'll try that tomorrow and make sure my photos are moving properly.  I also need to export photos to my external hard drive to make sure that route is working.
Wouldn't you know that my Apple Care Plan runs out this Wednesday?!  I need to make sure everything is working properly before that expires.
Thank you so much for your help.   I really, really appreciate it.

Same with the dvd drive. Other then no able to write to the dvd/cd drive, everything else is perfect. But that is not good enough...

  • Sata III hard drive cable compatible with older generation of macbook pro

Would my macbook ( 17 in mid 2009 ) be compatible with a new hard drive cable ( sata III ) ? I upgraded my hard drive to Samsung Pro 840 and wanted to upgrade my sata II cable to a sata III for faster read and write. Is this possible?

    Dave The Newbie,
replacing the cable will not increase the interface speed, just as putting racing slicks on a minivan won’t make it a dragster. I have the same model SSD in my Mid 2010 MacBook Pro, and my MacBook Pro’s SATA interface is limited to SATA II, just like yours. Unless you’re planning on mainly running disk-bound apps, it’s not something that you’ll need to worry about — just enjoy the SSD as is.

  • Repairing Boot Camp on a secondary hard drive

Hi, I managed to install Windows on a partition of a secondary hard drive with Winclone, but I am unable to boot on it.

On reboots, disk0 and disk1 designations can flip around, so it's not reliable to specify them as disk0 and disk1. However, given the information you've given, disk0 (os x) and disk1 (windows), you should only have a protective MBR on disk0, and either a hybrid MBR with partitions 2 3 added for disk1, OR you can just remove the GPT and have an MBR only disk. There's no advantage to using GPT for a disk that's smaller than 2TB, without OS X on it. Way safer to go with MBR only.
Anyway, you haven't presented the fdisk result for either disk to show the MBR. You've only supplied the GPT information. So you need to do:
    fdisk /dev/disk0
    fdisk /dev/disk1

  • Music on secondary Hard drive

Hi, I just installed my secondary hard drive which has all of my itunes music on it.
I have changed the path so that iTunes should be getting the music from the correct folder. But there is no music in iTunes.
I was told that I need to scan for the music, but I can't find the option for that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Does your library have the tracks in it but iTunes can't find them when you try to play them?
If so you will need to explain exactly what you did and how you had things set up before you started.
otherwise,if your library is empty, just add the iTunes Music folder to iTunes with File add folder to library.
Setting the location of the iTunes Music folder in preferences just tells iTunes where to store new music when you download/import it, it will not cause iTunes to add files automatically.

No, you need to tell iTunes where your storage directory is:

  • Hp g6-2040ca little hard drive cable?

Hello i have an hp g6-2040ca and ive broken that little cable that connects the hard drive to the motherboard. Does anyone klnow where i can find another one of these cables? i kind of need one to use the computer.

    Hi @mrawesome99
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
It is a superb  place to find answers and ideas.
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More
I grasp you need a hard drive cable.
You should be able to purchase one at any computer supply store.  Places such as Office Depot, Future Shop or Walmart.
The specifications state that it is a SATA drive so you will need a SATA cable .
Here is a  link to the HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide, where you can locate the part number for a hard drive hardware kit.  Please see page 25, item 18 the last item in the list.
    I hope this helped.

  • Adding a secondary hard drive to P300 SFF- bracket part number?

    Hi,
I have recently purchased a Lenovo Thinstation P300 SFF configured with a single SSD as primary drive and no optical drive. I would like to add a secondary hard drive (for backup purposes) and to adapt 5.25" drive space to 3.5" hard drive size. I presume there is some sort of a bracket that can do this, I need this part number. Any help appreciated. Here is a photo of current configuration http://pho.to/8Nb02

Yeah I don't see that first PN listed at all, and that second PN provided is definitely just a bezel for the front of the system.
I'm still looking into this as the documentation I have isn't fully clear, but I think the FRU you need is 04X2310.  From what I can tell, this should come with the 2.5" HDD bracket, 2.5" HDD tray, and screws (if they are needed)
I'm almost wondering if somehow during the communication about ordering parts if the FRU number didn't get a couple of digits transposed or something.  I don't see 04X2301 as a valid part at all for what you're doing, but 04X2310 should be the right number.
