I need a software update i still have 10.5.8 and it says i don't need to update
I want to update to Mountain Lion and I can't figure out how.
First you need to research all the problems people are having with the higher OSX versions, & make sure you have a bootable clone of what you have just in case.
then you must get 10.6 if they still have it, install it & update to 10.6.8 so you have the App Store to buy & download the huge 10.8 Installer.

The simple fact is that there are only a very tiny number of threats in the wild for OS X and those are easily avoidable by simply not installing anything you did not purposely set out to (do not enter your admin password to an installer dialogue unless you know exactly what it is for).
That said, people have been buying anitvirus software for Apple computers since before OS X was even released. It has never really been needed, but such products have always existed and used by some.
If you really want it, buy it, but just know that there is no real need for it or purpose to having it.
Intego is a perfectly legitimate business, and like any software vendor they can arrange to have Apple sell their product. Apple does not dictate that what they sell meet some intrinsic need or purpose. -

I have restored and updated my ipod from recovery mode, however I still have the usb cord and itunes icon on the ipod when it is switched on. How can I get my ipod to work again? I have updated and restored 5 times! When connected to itunes it only shows the summary page saying ipod in recovery mode.
Fixed it!
1. Made sure itunes software was up to date
2. Pressed and held 'home' button and 'on-off' button at the same time for about 10 seconds till ipod reset (I hadn't done this step previously)
3. Connected to itunes
4. Pressed restore and update ipod

i have a new imac with imovie 11 however my everio hd camcorder will only work with imovie 8 or 9. i tried to download imovie 9 but my mac says i don't need the update. How can i download imovie 8 or 9 complete not the update?
I really appreciate all your help. Today I spent some time on the problem. First I purchased any video converter from the ap store and then I connected the camera to the mac with the original usb cable that came with the camera. I turned on the camera and selected backup on pc and the logo came up on my home page. I opened it and after several attempts i found the 3 video files that were on the camera. I then converted them from a tod file to mp4 and then transfered them to imovie. Now I have to figure out how to send the video to youtube or move it to an external hard drive which I have not been able to do. So far I am not too fond of imovie 11. If you could send me the download for imovie 6 I then could try that route. When talking to apple support yesterday about the problem they suggested to get Final Cut Express. Look and see if you have a stalled download in iTunes - it could be a song or a podcast - if there is something that has not completed in there, your app updates will not download. Finish those downloads first, if you have any.

If you have not set up iCloud backup or backed up using iTunes, all data on the phone was lost once it entered recovery mode.
Your only option is to restore it and start new.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

Hi apple users, I am in need of your expertise. I have a mov file and mp4 file which I need converted to DVD. However IDVD quality is terrible and wondering if anyone can help!?
I created project in iMovie then exported it to MP4 and also MOV file at highest definition possible + I added it to iDVD and had a number issues about encoding errors regarding the mp4 file. MOV worked but the quality was terrible.....

On both a MacBook Pro, an Acer laptop and my Mac Tower. I would love to think that it is a problem with the playback system, and that if I merely send the file off to the duplicator they won't have the same problem. Maybe that is the case...I don't know if I have a choice rather than sending it off to see. But it happens in the same spots, in the same way, on all three of the players so I'm a little reluctant to have faith.

Of course, but in the case there is no more 'original project.' It is gone like the wind, stolen along with his computer and backups.
I think I am stuck using one of two files as my master: a DVD he burned where I only see the stutter/vibration/jitter once, or the mpeg2 file where I see it three times. Hopefully, the duplication house can rip if off of one of them and not see the jitter. I know that in audio, my personal filed, you can do a lot to enhance already existing sound--EQ, compression, tape saturation emulation software, etc. I guess I'm hoping there is some kind of analog to the video world that address jitter after a source has been printed--if indeed the source has been printed to be jittery.
