If you want Windows 7 then you have to buy it like everyone else. I don't believe Microsoft sells it any longer however I am sure you can locate it from other Microsoft resellers, for example Amazon still has it available.

  • I have installed VMware Fusion but having trouble with Calyx Point software and was told Bootcamp needed to be installed.  Will I not have to uninstall Calyx, VMWare and Windows 7 prior to installing Bootcamp?

I have just bought a new MacBook Pro and I really like it.  However, for my job I have to use Calyx Point software which has to be ran on the Windows side, so they sold me VMware Fusion software.  It works fine until I try to save a PDF or email docs.  I have called Calyx and they have advised me that bootcamp works.  I am wondering if this is going to help and since I have already installed VMware am I not going to have to uninstall that program, Windows and Point and then install bootcamp and reinstall Windows and Point?  If I'm beating my head against the wall, and just need to return the laptop, then that's what I will do, but I sure hate to as I really like my Mac.

    Checked VMware Fusion Community Forum?
Most install Windows (natively) and then 'attach' the (Boot Camp) partition to Fusion.
that way you can dual boot and run Windows natively when needed, and run Windows as a Guest OS VM under Mac OS.
But.... and I don't know about Calyx, doing things like save pdf and email should work fine same as usual.
Maybe there is something you didn't or need to do to Fusion (Tools or install Acrobat) or in configuring.
I used Fusion but found I prefered running Windows natively at the time.
If you do need to use one install in both manners, then you need to do through and partition your drive and reinstall Windows that way, and only then attach Fusion to it.
If you need to run Windows for work, I'd exchange it - especially if you have only had it a couple days, and get another.  There are a lot of new laptops coming out in the next months that look nice, fast and won't have some of the issues you run into with Windows on a Mac.

  • Bluetooth driver fix needed for Windows 8.1 new install

I recently did a clean install on my Lenovo Thinkpad T61P of Windows 8.1. Bluetooth is missing in PC Settings but does show up in services and it is enabled and set to automatic. Don't think that matters as the program or drivers are missing. Can someone direct me to the proper download link to get this installed and showing up in PC Settings so I can get it running? I cannot find proper download to install and this is a well known issue as I have upgraded from a XP system.
    thanks in advance

thanks for replying. As I was waiting for some answers to how to fix this bluetooth issue, I was continally bombarded with this popup window for time and date per the side window screen when you scroll over by it. I tried fixing it and decided to go into the mouse properties in Control Panel, went to mouse, and then into Ultranav. I unchecked the second feature that evidently froze my cursor, and now I have no cursor at all. I have booted up and as soon as I enter my login pin,  I lose the cursor. I have tried system restore but it wants my anti virus disabled and I have not  been able to do it. I have gone bake into the same settings feature to enable, but as soon as I do, it immediately transfers me out of the Ultranav properties menu.
Short question, Can I boot load the new driver into this OS that it needs? I do not see this driver as a property for my touchpad. I suppose I could get a mouse and try it, but do not have the USB end for the ones I have. Any idea how to get this Ultranav driver loaded without any cursor? I have no idea and system restore does not work without disabling antivirus and I cannot do this without cursor. Tried to boot to safe mode but I have not been successful as I don't know how evidently.  Any suggestions would be appreciated then I will get back to you on the bluetooth issue.
    thanks
edit to say I found a laser mouse and inserted it and it did get my cursor back. I have not disabled antivirus and doing another system restore. Two points come up as a result of this. How do I disable my antivirus using Windows 8.1 on a laptop that does not have FN + F8 option? Is there a file you can install to get this nice bootup option to work?
Second. is it possible to put a shortcut on the desktop or startup page for system restore. Maybe it is in the programs section as I just now thought it may be there but can't look right now as doing a system restore.
Finally if anyone can tell me the current drivers to download and install for a Lenovo T61P using Windows 8.1 for the updated Ultranav files and also the bluetooth recognition file. I will get back and answer your questions on what is seen as soon as I am up and running again, which should be shortly.
And if anyone has the answer to disabling the popup date and time window in lower left hand corner when the charms menu is activated, I would greatly appreciate it as this drives me crazy. this is how I got all these things messed up to begin with.
thanks and I hope this is not confusing.

  • Windows 7 eSTAT exterinal installing BootCamp DRIVERS HELP!!!

    # NEED HELP WITH BOOTCAMP DRIVERS & eSAT external DRIVE!!!
    # I have triple boot OSX 10.6.4 , Windows 7, Ubuntu 10.4 on PowerMac G5 Quad INTEL 16GB ram.
    # I have 4 internal Drives make my RAID. I'm booting 64 bite Kernel.
    # Using 3 external eSTAT drives to boot 3 OS's. 2 of those drives make BOOT Raid with OSX 10.6.4 & my Xcode Dev drive with 10.6.5. I have my Home Directory on 3rd partition of Boot Raid.
    # I have no issues with installment of Windows 7. I have to format Drive with Disk UTILTY as Master Boot Record & GUID!!! Formating in WIndows will not work, cause OSX wants to initialize Disk. GUID will not work after 1st boot in Windows 7 installation it want boot back to start point for installation to finish. MBR format works!!! I tried BOOTCAMP install off OSX DVD, didn't work. SO next pulled just 64 bit Drivers off DVD and i get same result, CRASH CRASH CRASH!!!!!!!!!!
    # anybody know a work around??????????
    # I have not gotten to ubuntu installation yet, doubt i will have any issues with it. except few tweaks which im well aware of. EXCEPT reFit doesn't work on RAID, i'm hoping to use reFit or yboot on ubuntu drive. 1st i need to figure out windows BootCamp driver Problem!!!

    You do have trouble.
You have a Mac Pro most likely that sortof looks like the older G5s.
10.6 doesn't run on PowerMacs, nor of course does Windows.
10.6.5 isn't out and you'd be under NDAs.
I just pull drives except the one for Windows 7 and format the drive with Windows DVD.
Disk Utility Partition Options... is either GPT or MBR, not both.
Boot Camp Assistant will format an entire drive as FAT w/ MBR.
Windows 7 on EFI based Mac will not boot off external drives.
It will install and boot off eSATA on PC if the BIOS and motherboard SATA ports support it.
And pull your 4 internal RAID drives.
Read and follow the PDF Guide in Boot Camp Assistant and things work.
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp
Apple's Windows drivers don't play any role installing Windows, only of use afterwards. And then to add motherboard support primarily (you still need ATI, RealTek and other drivers yourself).

  • Use a windows dvd drive to install bootcamp windows

    Hi!
I know it is possible, I looked up google about it but it's pretty difficult to find...
My macbook's dvd drive is broken and I don't have enough money to buy another one nor another external dvd drive. So I would like to use my girlfriend's laptop dvd drive to boot up windows install on my macbook.
How do you think I could do it???
    Thanks a lot!

    Tom:
Unfortunately it is impossible with the current procedure of boot camp installation of Windows. This is because the drivers for the ports (USB/Firewire) are not installed until Windows is completely installed first on an intel Mac.
Now, if you are planning on installing windows as virtual machine via Parallels or VMWare Fusion then there may be a way to do so by using the windows pc over the network by OSx.

  • Just install bootcamp on machine but can't wi-fi to work

downloaded the window support file when installing bootcamp the drivers seem to work fine apart from the wi-fi is still not working.. plz help  internet only works when connected with a cable.

Ted -- it looks to me like you may have installed the 9iAS distribution and not the OC4J standalone distribution.
If so, and you just want to explore OC4J and develop/deploy J2EE apps in dev/testing, then I'd recommend that you download the OC4J standalone distribution and use that.
    See http://otn.oracle.com/software/htdocs/devlic.html?/software/products/ias/htdocs/utilsoft.html
If you want to stay on the 9iAS release, then you need to start the OC4J process using a different mechanism. I'd recommend you read the User's Guide (http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/ias/doc_library/903doc_otn/generic.903/a97681/toc.htm) to get up to speed with that environment.
In a 9iAS environment, the default HTTP port is 7778 -- which is actually an Apache HTTP process, which routes requests through to an OC4J instance using AJP. You don't directly access the OC4J instance, you go through Apache.

  • I Need To Know Some Information About Installing Windows On A Macbook Pro 13

    Hello !
Actually Playing My Favourite Games Is A Problem Because I Can't Find DVD Games (Mac Version) For My Macbook Pro So I Found Out That You Can Install Windows 7 Software On A Mac But I Wanted To Know Some Information Like :
    - I Know That I Can Install It Using Boot Camp But I'll Need A Windows 7 DVD So Is There Some Specialized Version For Mac ? Or I Just Need A Normal Windows 7 DVD For PC ?
    - If I Installed Windows 7, Will I Lose The Mac OS X Lion ? Or I Can Have Both Softwares Together At The Same Time ?
    - If I Installed Windows 7, Will It Have The Same Specifications Of Macbook Pro 13 ? (Ex: 2.4 GHz Processor)
    - If I Installed Windows 7 And I Already Had Mac OS X Lion, Will The Macbook Lag Or It Will Work Properly ?
    - If There's Any More Info That You Know About Installing Windows 7 On A Macbook Pro 13, Please Provide Me With It, Thanks!

This really is a forum about the MacBook Pro hardware.  The best place to ask your questions would be the Windows/BootCamp forum.  Your MacBook Pro 13 has one weakness that's going to make gaming a bad experience.  It has an integrated Intel HD graphics processor, whereas the higher end MacBook Pro's have discrete ATI graphics processors.  But the forum will help you out.

  • Non-techy language help needed for windows install please

    Hi everyone
I am new to mac and am felling more than a little confused about how to get the best out of the software i need to use.
I need office 2007 to run on windows, but i as windows is not already installed, I am not sure which version to buy. I know I don't need parallel software, I just need to do the boot camp thing.
I've tried going through the tutorials but they are really resonating with me as I have minimal knowledge about these things.
    Could someone help please?

You suspect wrongly.  The Lenovo upgrade disk is one version only, either x86 or x64 but not both.
The Microsoft operating systems licences that come bundled with Lenovo systems (and it's pretty much the same for all vendors)  are all for either x86 or x64 only.  So Microsoft requires the upgrades to similarly licenced.

Yes, what you are looking at will work.
"Most of this would be for access to the shared folders which is not the same as RDP, correct?  So i could
have myself connect from school to pull a word document, my friend connect from home to get the excel spreadsheet for our table top gaming, and my family connect to pull pictures from the shared folder on the server all at the same time.  Because they
are accessing the shared folders it is not a RDP where they are accessing the server itself for administration."
This statement is correct.  All of them would be able to be accessing the shared folders at the same time.  This is the purpose of shared folders.
"the 1 user and RDP part is where I'm getting a little confused i think.
For the RDP part I thought that only applied to the server itself and not any of the client computers
connected to the server.  So you are still limited to the 2 users to connect concurrently to the server or a client computer at any time?"
Sorry, not trying to confuse you.  You mentioned to connect to a local machine at the same time.  If you are staying away from RDP, then you won't have this issue.  I would keep all shared folders on the server,  not on any workstations.
You are correct 2 people can be RDP into a server at once.  For client computers (workstations) you are limited to 1 person at a time.  If you setup Anywhere Access correctly,  then your friends and family should not need to RDP into a
client computer, they should only need to access the shared folders.
Something to keep in mind...for Anywhere Access to work, you will need to purchase a public certificate.  You can do this from GoDaddy.com, Comodo or others. I would recommend either Godaddy or comodo.  They make it easy and give plenty of instructions
on how to obtain the certificate.  You will probably also have to purchase a domain name, and a static IP from your ISP.  To fully do what you are looking at, it will take some out of pocket $$.

  • Do I need to remove old drivers before installing new ones (Windows XP)

I have an  Acer Aspire 3690 laptop with Windows XP home edition installed. I've reinstalled the OS by using recovery tool, updated it again. I want to finish setting my laptop up by updating some drivers, mainly chipset and GPU. I've already found that newer ones are availabe. But do I need remove the old drivers first to avoid any problems in the future? Or do I just run the setup executable of every driver?

Run the setup and check if the new one are installed; if not remove the old drivers and install the new.

  • I already installed parallel dekstop n microsoft windows 7 proffessional 64 bits..my question is is it the microsoft windows 7 that i installed already have microsoft office package as well? or i need to install it by myself? and how to install it?

i already installed parallel dekstop n microsoft windows 7 proffessional 64 bits..my question is is it the microsoft windows 7 that i installed already have microsoft office package as well? or i need to install it by myself? and how to install it?

    No it does not!
Windows and MS Office are two independent products. You will either have to buy an MS-office-license for your needs or you apply to office 365, you can activate up to 5 licenses at a time with your account and e.g. use them for the Parallels-Windows and for the native Office for Mac at the same time.
Office 365 comes in for approx 80€ a year, so if you need more than one license it is the better deal.

  • Do you need a copy of a Windows operating system to install Boot Camp?

I want to install Microsoft Windows on my macbook but I don't know if I need a copy of a Windows operating system to install boot camp. I have a copy of Windows XP Professional but when I lunched the Boot Camp Assistent program it prompt me with a box and asked if I wanted to install windows 7. Do I need a copy of the Windows 7 operating system or does it come with Boot Camp?
I'm confused with how Boot Camp works.
If you could please help me, that would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance!

You need Boot Camp to create a space in which to install Windows, you must own a copy of Windows. You can only install Windows 7 or 8.
Read the Boot Camp documentation and make a backup of your Mac before you start.
